The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff Trailer

Create a casual backyard space for your Sims to kick back and cool off with The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff.

Have Fun in the Sun With The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff (Blog Post)

Via TheSims.com

The days are long and the sun is bright; it’s the perfect time for your Sims to enjoy The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff*, coming July 19th!

Looking to update your backyard? Additional customisation options for your outdoor spaces await, with bright colours and patterns adding a splash of excitement. You’ll be able to decorate with everything from spinning wind catchers to spitting frog fountains and scented flowers, all helping set a casual backyard vibe. When your Sims’ friends and family drop by for a cookout, they’ll be showing off their stylish new fashions as they sit around the new umbrella table that accommodates meal servings for up to six Sims. An assortment of comfortable clothing comes in vibrant summer prints, and relaxed hairstyles are available in natural and ombre colours.

While it’s great to look great, it’s the fun new activities and objects which make for a memorable backyard experience. First, you’ll definitely want to clear space for the Lawn Water Slide. Sims will flip out (sometimes quite literally!) over the fun they’ll have while sliding and performing tricks on a sunny afternoon. All that exercise can build up a real thirst, and the new drink pitcher will definitely help you quench it. Mix up refreshing recipes like lemonade, iced tea, and more, then pour over ice and enjoy.

For a rejuvenating experience in the backyard, you can sit back and tune in to the sound of nature all around you. Place the new bird feeder in your backyard, and you’ll be serenaded by the chirps of bluebirds, cardinals, and finches as they fly in for a bite to eat. You can add the new wind chime to your backyard as well for a soothing Sim-made melody. Choose from bamboo, ceramic, or metallic chimes… pair them together if you like, or even set the length of the rods to adjust the chime’s pitch. It’s guaranteed to be music to your ears (and perhaps a nightmare for your neighbors).

One thing’s for certain, there’s plenty of new fun outside for your entire Sims’ family to delight in when The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff releases on July 19th.

The Sims 4 Building: Bridges

Love can build a bridge and, now, so can you!

07-05-16_2-38-44 PM

Burning Bulding Bridges

We are going to explore how to build four different styles of bridges, step by step, so even the uninitiated can understand. Hopefully, we can inspire some ideas on experienced builders as well!

Bridge Style # 1

We have a simple square pool on the ground and we are going to start construction by holding the Ctrl key on the keyboard while we delineate where our bridge is going to be.

07-05-16_2-01-43 PM

There we go!

Now we are going to use floor titles and fences to create the bridge.

07-05-16_2-03-41 PM

Simple enough. If you just want a simple bridge over a simple pool, you are done, I suppose. But you can make the body of water look more naturalistic by changing the water colour…

07-05-16_2-04-49 PM

…then adding rougher pool trimming…

07-05-16_2-05-14 PM

…some water plants…

07-05-16_2-10-15 PM

…and some terrain paint.

07-05-16_2-11-08 PM

Changing the pool walls and tiles to stone finishes is the last touch.

07-05-16_2-15-03 PM

Our quaint bridge is completed.

07-05-16_2-12-36 PM

Bridge Style # 2

Several steps are the same from the previous bridge, so let’s focus on what is different. We are going to use the basement tool to sink the body of water. We delimit where it’s going to be…

07-05-16_2-16-46 PM

… and then we go down one level and select the newly-created basement.

07-05-16_2-17-01 PM

After that, we go back up and click on the yellow outline to remove the ceiling.

07-05-16_2-17-14 PM

We repeat the process on the other side and, then, proceed to build our natural pool, much like we did in the Bridge Style #1, only, this time, in the basement.

07-05-16_2-19-01 PM

It’s similar to the first bridge, but the water is at a lower level.

07-05-16_2-19-33 PM

You could even use that to create a magnificent entrance to a castle! Or, perhaps, simulate times of drought.

Tip: If you really want to go post apocalyptic, forgo the water altogether!

Bridge Style # 3

We have mastered how to create the surrounding water in the prior styles. Let’s concentrate on Bridge # 3 now. Create a room where you want the bridge to be.

07-05-16_2-21-16 PM

Delete the walls.

07-05-16_2-21-41 PM

Delete the ceiling.

07-05-16_2-22-08 PM

Use the foundation tool to make your bridge as tall as you’d like.

Note: Keep in mind the tool will affect all foundations on the lot.

07-05-16_2-23-22 PM

Add stairs.

07-05-16_2-24-22 PM

Change the foundation finish.

07-05-16_2-25-02 PM

Add railings with the fence tool.

07-05-16_2-39-19 PM

Overhead view.

07-05-16_2-39-37 PM

Bridge Style # 4

For the final style, we won’t need to change the pool itself, since the bridge will be suspended.

Again, we have covered creating the body of water underneath before.

07-05-16_2-40-12 PM

Let’s discuss Bridge #4 now. Build two small rooms, one on each side, to support the bridge.

07-05-16_2-42-26 PM

You can choose how tall the structure is going to be by tweaking wall height.

Tip: You can also experiment with foundations.

07-05-16_2-43-11 PM

I want to set wall height to short, personally.

07-05-16_2-43-21 PMGo up one level and build a room connecting the two bases.

07-05-16_2-44-40 PMDelete the ceiling.

07-05-16_2-44-55 PMDelete the walls.

Note: You can keep the ceiling and walls if you want a more sophisticated bridge.

07-05-16_2-45-19 PM

Add stairs.

Tip: You might also add railings to the stairs if you like, using the same tool.

07-05-16_2-46-22 PM

Once again, we use the fence tool to make the bridge safe and beautiful.07-05-16_2-48-19 PM

Tip: Add a trim under the bridge for a more polished finish.

07-05-16_2-49-23 PM

Can you see it? It looks much better!

07-05-16_2-50-50 PM

Here’s our bridge!07-05-16_2-52-24 PM

Let’s extend the pool to make it even better!

07-05-16_2-57-17 PM

If you want a pond under the bridge, make sure to check our tutorial on building a pond-pool HERE.

07-05-16_3-15-26 PM
Do you know how I named this one? “It’s Britney, Bridge”.

Have fun creating bridges to make the exteriors of your buildings and your gardens much more agreeable!

I hope this tutorial was as unabridged as possible!

The Sims 4 Kids Room Stuff: Decorating Your Kids Bedroom

Hello everyone!

I will be giving you decorating tips for your kids bedroom in today’s article!

What Kind of Kid Bedroom:

First thing to consider is what kind of bedroom it is going to be, is it a girls room, and boys room, or is it going to be unisex? A great way to start off your room is to put down the wallpaper, flooring, bedding, and side tables! Add in little details to make your Sims happy, the little things in life matter, right?

Adding in Wall Art:

Wall art is something that every room should have, it really can give a room the personality that you are thriving for! Choosing the right wall art will give your room a pop of color or a nice warm feel. Choose the wall art based on what you want your room to look like!

Adding in Carpets:

Carpets can finish a room off by bring the attention of that certain area inwards! But don’t add too many carpets or the room might look too cluttered and will throw off the look you are going for!

Adding in Fun Activities:

Adding in fun activities is great to keep your child busy and keeping their fun up at a reasonable level! Add in little hints of detail as well to tie everything together! This area is great for battling other opponents in Voidcritter battles by using the new object, Voidcritter Battle Station in the new Stuff Pack, Kids Room Stuff! Also add in things like a television area and a study area!

 Now You’re Finished:

Now your finished with your bedroom! These steps will help you decorate any kids room! Add in anything else that you might have forgotten or think would look good in your build! (This room is up on the Gallery ID: SaraSimm3r)

The Sims 4 Kids Room Stuff Review

Kids Room Stuff is the seventh Stuff Pack for The Sims 4! It’s primary focus is the Child Age group – bringing new CAS and Build Items, as well as some interesting new gameplay. But, is it worth the retail price of $9,99?

reviewnote

This review is based on 10+ hours of deep gameplay.  Even though I was given an early review copy to test the game, I am not by any means paid or bribed to state positive (or negative) opinions about this stuff pack.  I will give my honest opinion of the stuff pack; its content and what it brings to the game.

Create A Sim

Kids Room Stuff brings 40 new items exclusively for children! That includes new hairstyles, tops, bottoms, outfits and shoes for your child sims to wear.

The Sims Team wasn’t cheap on swatches. Actually, there’s even one t-shirt design with over 50 swatches! You’ll see plenty of new patterns and colors that will suit your child just right.

Build Items

This section of new content didn’t disappoint either. The Sims 4 Kids Room Stuff brings 40 new build items that’ll be just enough to make any child room unique, colorful and vibrant.

There are also just enough swatches for each object that will make two of the same objects still look very different.

 New Gameplay

There are 2 new gameplay objects with Kids Room Stuff: the Puppet Theatre and Battle Station which requires Voidcritters – brand new collectibles that can be found all around neighborhoods.

The Puppet Theatre

The Puppet Theatre is a cute new object which will build up your Child’s social skill as he/she continues performing puppet shows. Progressing through the social skill will also unlock new puppet shows . You can invite other Sims to watch your show or you can perform them alone.

Even though the appeal of The Puppet Theatre may wear off, it still brings enough gameplay and moodlets to make it a nice addition to this Pack.

Battle Station and Voidcritters

The Battle Station and Voidcritter collectibles are features that really stand out in this Pack.

Voidcritters are cute new monsters that can be collected in form of collectible cards. You can buy Booster Packs or search for these cards in any Neighborhood by looking for discarded toys in trash and in logs that spawn every now and then.

There are 20 Voidcritters and each Voidcritter has its own element (there are 5 elements in total). You can train these Voidcritters on the Battle Station which will boost their power levels and finally, battle against another Voidcritter which is controlled by another Sim. This is a really tactiful game as some elements are stronger / weaker when paired with a certain element.

Interesting fact about Voidcritter gameplay: only Child Sims can see special effects during a battle / training sesion (as shown below). The Sims Team wanted to show their use of imagination they didn’t fail!

The Sims 4 Kids Room Stuff: Voidcritters, Battle Station and Voidcritter Battles

In this Article, you’ll learn all about the Battle Station, Voidcritters, where to find them, their abilities and more!

Voidcritters

Voidcritters are trainable Monsters that can be battled against each other in the Voidcritter Battle Station. They can be found in a form of cards that, once collected, can be found in your Inventory.

Voidcritter Cards can be found and collected with these options:

  • Look for Discarded Toys (The Log & The Trash Can)

This interaction only brings a possibility of finding a Voidcritter Card. Sometimes Child Sims will actually find a card or two, but sometimes they might end up finding a toy or nothing at all. On the trash can, this action can be done every few hours. Meanwhile, if you Look for Discarded Toys in the log, the log will disappear and you can try to find another log nearby.

  • Ask to Trade Voidcritters

This friendly interaction will give one of your Voidcritter Cards to the Child Sim you’re socializing with in return for a Card you possibly don’t have.

  • Purchase Voidcritter Booster Pack(s) (The Computer)

You can purchase one or five Voidcritter Cards from the computer. Although this is one of the easiest to get a Voidcritter Card, the rarity of a purchased card is usually common. Purchased Booster Packs can be found in the inventory and require to be opened.

There are 20 Voidcritters that you can find:
