A new survey requesting select people via e-mail has revealed the concepts and descriptions of expansion packs being considered by Maxis / EA Games for The Sims 4. Are you curious?
Here are the short descriptions of the nine options the recipients were asked their opinion on, provided by Sims Online!
On The Road:
Get behind the wheel of different vehicles, including cars, trucks and motorcycles. Fix up old cars, build a hotrod or jump on your ride and explore a number of tourist destinations.
- New Vehicles: Your Sims can now choose from a variety of vehicles to own and drive including cars, trucks, and even motorcycles.
- Build A Garage: Build a brand new garage where you can work on your vehicles and display them for all to see.
- Become A Mechanic: Fix up, customise, and build new cars with the new Mechanic active career.
- Visit Tourist Destinations: Take your ride on the road to visit tourist destinations like the Grand Sims Canyon, the World’s Largest Ball of Twine, or the Secret Mystery Spot.
University:
Send your sims off to University.Explore the university campus and decide whether your sims are going to study to ace their exams or spend their days partying it up. Sims can also pledge fraternities and sororities and try to become members of these prestigious organizations.
Generations:
It’s time to raise a family! Raise your children from babies into toddlers. Watch your children grow into moody pre-teens and help them overcome the tribulations of youth. Create a Sims family dynasty that will last forever.
Get Real:
It’s time to become a reality star! Join the cast of Sliced ‘N’ Diced to compete with other chefs, Finding Love to become the most desirable bachelor/bachelorette or Runway Take Off to become a fashion designer star!
Find Love:
Find true love in The Sims 4! Meet your date on SimsMatch, take your date to romantic getaway spots, build up your romantic reputation, and have the wedding of your dreams!
- SimMatch Dating App: Help your sims find their soulmate or a fun fling for the night with the new SimMatch app. Pick out the perfect selfie, fill out their profile, and decide how honest your sims want to be.
- Romantic Getaway Locations: Take your sims out for the perfect date at one of the new romantic getaway locations including a cosy bed and breakfast or the swanky eco-lounge.
- Romantic Reputation: Build up your romantic reputation as you go out on dates with different sims. Will you be known as a loyal companion or the town heartbreaker? Your reputation will determine how sims in the world react to you and earn you unique romance rewards.
- Ultimate Wedding: Live out your Sims’ wedding fantasies and have the ultimate bachelor or bachelorette party, select and customize the perfect wedding party, and spruce things up with exclusive wedding food and decor.
Metropolis:
Move into a bustling, modern city! Live in new apartments and penthouses eat food at carts and shop at street markets and immerse your sims in the different cultures of the city by exploring the many diverse neighbourhoods.
Power Up:
Turn your sims into superheroes! Use powers like mind reading, telekinesis, and teleportation. Learn new powers at the Super Hero Academy and use them to make the world a better place or terrorise the population.
Back To School:
Take your sims to school! Have your child and teen sims participate in school activities including classes, dances and student government elections or become a teacher with the new teacher active career.
Vacation:
Take your sims on vacation! Head to Mt. Wright for fun winter getaway with ice skating, sledding, snowboarding and mysterious ice caves. Or head to Isla Cordinda to soak up the sun and build sandcastles, surf the waves, and uncover ancient tombs.
- Summer Vacation: Experience the best of summer at an island getaway, with sand castles, surfing, and delicious island food and drinks.
- Winter Getaway: Enjoy a winter wonderland with a snowy mountain vacation. Go snowboarding, sledding, make snowmen, or hit the lake for some ice skating!
- Explore Ancient Locations: Explore ancient tombs in the jungle, or avoiding deadly traps and yetis.
- Winter & Summer Seasons: Bring the weather home with you. Experience the warm days of summer or magical snowfall in your home town!
Rebuild:
The apocalypse has struck The Sims 4! Explore abandoned neighbourhoods and rescue survivors, rebuild your town into a thriving community, and fight off zombies to protect your new town.
Instead of a select few subscribed to a newsletter, why don’t they set this survey up in everyone’s Origin window? They would get a much wider pool from which to learn what we want next. I would love to fill these out, sincerely and seriously.

I want seasons with natural disasters, the zombie apocalypse is also a good idea.
It would be nice if, after a disaster Sims could help neighbors in distress.
I really hope for those packs to come out (soon)! I wonder where the vihicles will drive without an open world, if it’s like in sims 2 – this would be a little disappointing… (please consider bicycles too).
But I miss an activity pack or sports pack, where sims could not only go surving, or snowboarding, but also play football or basketball, tennis and table-tennis or how about beach volleyball? And it would be cool if they could participate in competitions and champion ships (and car races) or maybe some kind of olympia with medals and worldrecords.
It also would be cool if sims could drive rollerskates and skateboard.
As for the Vacation pack, I’d like to have caravans and campers.
I would like that too.
I’d love to have my parent sims be able to play basketball in the driveway with their kids.
I’m really hoping the vacation pack comes out soon, but I’d like it if they added an Autumn season too.
I would really like to see pets in ts4 but i like the sound of these packs although not to sure about the zombie one?!
I agree with you too Amelia, I think that all of the expansion pack concepts that EA put in this survey are good and I would love it if they released them. But… I’m not to sure about the zombie one as well, I mean it isn’t as realistic as the other EP’s (with the exception of TS3: Supernatural, TS: Making Magic etc.) As for the rest, I would also like to see them as future expansion packs for The Sims 4.

I hope we don’t get the apocalypse ep. The sims 4 is not a zombie game. If I wanted to play with an apocalypse then I’ll play the walking dead.
A lot of people would disagree with you, that’s the most exciting expansion pack on the list imo.
I really like the idea of the apocalypse game but I think it should be a stand alone with its own expansions (like Sims Medieval). It is an awesome concept but I remember Sims Supernatural drove me nuts after awhile and I turned it off. Making it a stand alone game would be perfect!
I had a visualisation on each and I’d choose Vacation, this pack would have the most animations, and stuff added to make this an enjoyable game even further. The others are so so, but Vacation will have more to offer.
So exited for Generations pack! It seems like there will be even more new “age groups” than just toddlers.

Don’t like the university one did not get it for The Sims 2 or Sims 3 whichever one it was I love that we build idea and I love all the rest of them it should be something that all Decemberists should decide not just a few select people

I have played The Sims since the very first game and have been a very long time supporter for everything that has been developed over the years. I must say that in spite of this I am disappointed that not everyone can vote. I wish I would’ve had the opportunity, especially given my long history with the franchise. Having stated this, I hope I should be heard here. Anything relating to family, seasons and pets are the very basic of expansion packs that has always made the game so unique and fun. I love all of the ideas in the new survey and I hope that these three types of game play will be included. 🙂

Definitely The generations! And with Metropolis have two cities which rival each other in things like sports teams. This could include sims having interests in sports teams and bro sims can go to see games together, and they can interact with bro sims who support the rival teams and have debates about players and which team is better!
I’m really pessimistic that any of these will ever happen. So far all of the expansions have been lack luster. I think the apocalypse one would be fantastic, but they’ll probably never do it 🙁
I think the toddlers are very needed, and “moody pre-teens” sounds attractive. Then I choose Generation. Also University it’s a good idea.
Besides, it will be fantastic to see a high modern city, flats and penthouses with neighbors, some of this is superstars or witches (or maybe vampires). And all of this combined with seasons.
I very much would like to see a metropolis, the noisy city with cars, shops and stalls, huge penthouses, neighbors. And also freely to move by cars and bicycles. And especially there is a wish pets and seasons very much there is no snow and rains.
I would SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO buy all of these! I would want “Find Love” first and then “Get Real” and then i dont care.

I would love seasons to be the next expansion pack released its just so much more realistic to see the weather change also what would be awesome to add into the game would be the ceiling fans also an option to build your own curved staircases

I like the Rebuild and Get Real expansion packs! Although I want to see some time-travelling expansion pack, unlike the Into the Future expansion pack in The Sims 3, which is quite a let-down. The Power Up is nice as well, and I kind of sad about separating the University and Back to School expansion stuff; which is general form of “education” for sims, so I think combining them would be good. Whether the makers are up for it or not. The Get To Work expansion pack is okay, but I want all of the careers to be like the Scientist, Police and Doctor. Seriously, I want to see and control my sim’s work.
There is ONE thing I’ve always wanted and will ALWAYS be unhappy until we get it. Toddlers! They were hands down one of my favorite parts of sims2/3. Please, PLEASE give them back to us, and soon! Sims 4 is such a great game, but you can’t skip an entire stage of a sims life! It feels incomplete. Honestly makes me feel disconnected to my child sims sometimes. To go from a bassinet to be able to use the computer? It’s just weird. Like all the way back to sims 1. I don’t like it at all :/
The idea is very awesome… IU wish all of this things will come out to EA. I really like the idea of metropolis. I really miss the big city in the sim world… and I like the idea of get real (especially the fashion designer) but to top it all why don’t you add actors and singers or anything that involves fame…

I personally adore all of these ideas. Generations, if it includes Toddlers, would be a very anticipated expansion. TS3 one ups TS4 mainly in that Toddler area. Hopefully, we’ll see each of these expansions over time, if we’re patient and of course, persistent.
I need all these packs! They all sound very exciting and mostly positive. Gosh, I can’t pick just one, I love all of these (but i really need pets and toddlers!) :D. I would probably buy all of these.
I want all of them! But if we can have only some, On the road can be merged with Vacation (including seasons and weather), and Back to school with Generations (including toddlers of course!). I can see amazing gameplay possibilites with that. Metropolis would be so cool! And also Find Love, Get Real (maybe including Sims Idol or Sim’s got talent) and Rebuild too, even though I’m not that fond of zombies. University is fine. But Power up they can skip, or maybe merge with University.
I really, really want Pets too, but maybe that is on it’s way already… 🙂
I hope EA sees these comments and makes all of those expansion packs. I would love to buy all of them and play them. Especially the Rebuild on, that would be amazing. But EA should have put the Survey on Origin, that way they could get more information from EVERY Sims player, not just a select few. I don’t think that’s fair. Besides, of Sims 4 is going to be the last Sims that they are going to develop then I think they should go all out and my as many expansion packs as possible.
I like all of these, except for rebuild. I wish that they would add these all to the game!
Okay, I seriously LOVE all of these ideas for future expansions and I am looking forward to all of them, I’ve been an avid simmer since vanilla. I even have The Sims Medieval, the base game and Pirates and Nobles. Really big fan, can’t wait for the next expansion.

I miss having the variety of ages for children, and also being able to pick them up when they’re babies and getting to carry them around 🙁 Generations should be good, also having cars will be amazing!

I think having more to do with the family would be a good idea, like toddlers and pre-teens. Baby – Child – Young Adult – Adult – Elder, gets boring after a while. Don’t really care about new worlds and that because I don’t like the setup of the map anyway. Pets should be an option, a friendly animal in the household. But have more to it than sims 3 pets, like having to clean up after them. Bring all the good and the bad of having a pet into it. Uni, yes! Have them learn more, a large variety of courses while open up new jobs. I liked it in sims 3 and it could be really good in sims 4 along with everything we already have in sims 4.
