Yes, it will cost money! How much? We still don’t know.
The final teaser for The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 Rereleases is here. And it’s both a confirmation for all these reports on leaks we’ve done so far, along with the rumored fact that these rereleases will have to be purchased.
It’s finally confirmed: Sims 1 and Sims 2 are coming back!
The Sims Official Website had posted its final teaser for the upcoming rereleases for The Sims 1 and The Sims 2. They posted two buttons for purchasing the 25th anniversary edition of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 Games, with the following message:
The Sims™ & The Sims™ 2 Are Back
Purchase Legacy Collections featuring re-releases of these beloved titles along with numerous packs.
UPDATE: Shortly after this article was posted, the website got updated again with a new message leading to the promotional Sims Y2K Website. I’m guessing someone at the team got too excited to get the message out?
Message from The Sims Social
The Sims Social team shared an extra message hinting at tomorrow’s release, stating:
At the moment the two buttons lead to a 404 page. But we might just know exactly when these two amazing Rereleases are coming.
The Sims 2 and Sims 1 Rereleases are set to come out on January 31st at 16:00 UTC on EA App first. With Steam possibly joining the fun very quickly afterwards. Join the countdown here and find out when the games come out in your area!
As we reported before – the rerelease of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 is only for Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs. There is no information or confirmation if these game rereleases will be made available for Mac.
“All Packs” or “Numerous Packs”?
The insider Kotaku confirmation about “all expansions” being featured in The Sims 1 and Sims 2 Rereleases got the community speculating again. This time if there’s going to be some packs missing, considering the wording in the leaked promotional message on the website says “numerous packs”. As opposed to the previous expectation of “all packs”.
The speculation stems on if EA and Maxis were able to get the original licensing rights for The Sims 2 IKEA Home and Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff Packs to have them featured in the rereleases. Nothing’s certain yet on the fate of these two packs.

I think they were trying to avoid changing the game codes too much so old mods (and transferred saves) would still work, which, if true, I’m super thankful for!
The Sims 2 was a technical nightmare for even Maxis back in the day. That’s why there’s so many problems with the game. So hopefully they didn’t bother altering too much stuff. Then the game will become even more unstable than it already is. Everyone is blinded by nostalgia thinking TS1 and TS2 were prefect. They weren’t and had plenty of problems just like TS3 and TS4. I rather they just make the games work on modern hardware and leave the rest to modders so we can just play the games again without issue.
no one is blinded by any nostalgia, corruption is common for Sims 2. Everyone loves how detailed the game is.
Sims 1 works perfectly.
Both games already work normally on new computers, I play on a macbook, and also have them on my 2 year old windows laptop. Windows did not change much
Confirmed now, Ikea is not part of the package. Everything else, including H&M Fashion Stuff, is. Plus they added Sims 4 Grunge Revival Kit there for some reason. Which is probably why it requires EA App even if purchased on Steam. Many other old EA games on Steam, including Sims 3, does not have this requirement. The price is €29.99 where I live. Sims 1 pack, which also requires EA App is €19.99. Though this one is at least complete and also added Sims 4 kit, this time Throwback Fit Kit. And they also have 25th Birthday Bundle which contains all of this, plus Sims 4, in case you still don’t have that one (at least on Steam, no info about Sims 4 on EA App), for €39.99, so, ten Euros less then if bought separately. This bundle is also included in EA Play Pro subscription service, if you have that. Well, anyway, I am staying with Sims 2 Ultimate Collection which really is complete Sims 2. Thank goodness I got that years ago. However, just for the nostalgia, I am willing to get that Sims 1 pack, but not for this outrageous price. Twenty Euros for 25 years old game is just too much.
Nobody is forcing me to buy it, did I say that? But The Sims on disk isn’t compatible with modern computers (hence why they are re-releasing), nor does my laptop have a disk drive, so? I would like to play it again, but I won’t buy it again.
LOTTA people seem to think everyone is a computer whiz who can work around the system issues with loading the old discs to new computers with no problem. Just ignore the “you already have it” and “it’s already free” people.
Because you don’t need to be a computer whiz to put a disc into a computer and follow the installation prompts. It works. And if you can’t follow another short 30 seconds guide saying open this file in a notepad and add a resoltuion. Or just download a premade file. Then it is nothing to do with being tech savy, other issues
Yes it is compatible, it will install on all windows 11 computers and play. You will need a resoltuions change and taht is it.

I don’t understand why EA is being so quiet about this, and avoiding hyping it up on main… are they trying to prevent more people from downloading on Github in advance?
I might download it in case their release doesn’t come with every pack. the only reason I’d have to pirate would be if they don’t release 100% of the content. I want to experience both games to their absolute fullest potential.
i’m curious too. I have the ultimate edition.. With the ea app stopping support for 32 bit games in April.. I’m wondering if they are going to update it.. or are we going to have to pay for it
They’re not ditching support for 32bit games, They’re discontinuing Origin which is for 32bit systems. EA app is only 64bit. That does not mean your 32bit games won’t be playable on 64bit EA app.
Will this come to every country at the same time as in the us? From Norway here

Is there an est. time for release? It says the links are posted on the EA website but I don’t see them, nor do I see anything about the re-release, but it’s all over Reddit! What am I missing?
I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. It’s been many years since Mac-unfriendly releases were the norm, but based on how this release is worded, I’m wondering the same thing.

What if u already own sims 2 collection from it previously being on a cd that led it to be free on ea origin. Will I have to re purchase the game even if I own it and playing the game? Or will it just be a update?

It would be a real shame if not all packs were included. People would just stick to what they use now if that were the case, and I couldn’t blame them.

If they release it for Windows only and not Mac, that will be so disappointing. I’ve been a Mac user since the beginning, and I’ve been really excited to play Sims 1, and now I read this bit about Windows, and it’s like a terrible throwback to the days when we had to wait months on Mac compatibility for games, if it happened at all.
I found it by searching for sims 25 in the EA app.

The price on it is ridiculous. An article appeared few minutes ago from someone with early copy and it was mentioned couple of times in it about the constant crashes. So they re released the game (that was given out for free for years) without fixing anything and asked for the same price they do for new sims 4 pack. Classic

Im very happy for this! The only thing I would have wanted differently is a graphics update for the sims 2. but it’s fine! Very exciting!

I’m worried they might not be able to release the IKEA pack again

Will they possibly add Xbox One to the list!?
Because The Sims 2/1 (these specific editions) were Windows PC only, likely not. However, I could see rereleases of the console specific editions.
It was also released for Mac too.
And the Mac edition of Sims 2 has been for sale for years on the Mac app store.
that’s missing multiple packs and even some localizations
Do we know if we will be able to put our serial codes in for the physical copies we already own? EA I am not buying it again.
Who is forcing you to buy that again if you already own it? This re-release is mostly for players who didn’t play these games.

nothing to understand, they released a timetable for the week with a surprise on 31st…..
what about the mac players??
Left in the ditch as always. But if they make it 64bit you can easily run these games in Whisky/Crossover.
wine works with any program, also 32 bit. The translation layer is an environment for any windows program to run.
how do u use wine??
So excited to revisit Sims 1. The only one missing now from my digital collection.
what if you own ultimate collection? will they get rid of that????
Why would they delete that? It’ll stay in your library. The rerelease is standalone game not just update.
i’m curious too. I have the ultimate edition.. With the ea app stopping support for 32 bit games in April.. I’m wondering if they are going to update it.. or are we going to have to pay for it

so where is it
