Maxis doubles down on The Sims Franchise Development

Exciting times ahead!

During my break I haven’t been paying attention to my usual places where I check up information. One of those places is Maxis Careers, where we were able to spot many interesting details behind the scenes of The Sims 4 development. Oh, and also the development of the Next Generation Sims Game!

After my break I opened up the Maxis Careers Website and PLENTY of new Job Opportunities have been posted. Like, a lot.

The new Job Opportunities are new and are related to upcoming developments. Developments of both The Sims 4 and The Sims 5 (we call it like that until we know the official name).

It’s an exciting time for The Sims Franchise. We don’t even have to explain too much – it’s literally all written out in the Job Descriptions down below that we found on Maxis Careers! These are the most interesting ones we found (out of so many other Job Listings!).

The Seasons come and go, and now’s the perfect time to unwind, relax and start your day right with a new announcement from The Sims Team!

That’s right – we are finally getting an Expansion Pack announcement after 6 months! There’s lots of love and critics (and articles) to write out for the Werewolves Game Pack that we haven’t had the time! We apologize, but we are all almost rested up and ready to start coverage starting next week!

Until then, let’s prioritize things. The announcement of the next Expansion Pack is happening in just a few short hours, and we will keep you updated every step of the way.

It’s been leaked by EA that the upcoming Expansion Pack could be titled “High School”. Yesterday in the official teaser it was also heavily hinted that the Pack is related to Teenagers, so it’s basically confirmed!

The full reveal of The Sims 4’s Next Expansion Pack is slated for 8AM Pacific Time / 5PM CET / 4PM BT. We’ve included a handy countdown to the exact moment of the Pack’s reveal, and we’ll keep you posted on all things right after the announcement on Sims Community!

That we don’t know what it is!

It’s always the same old same old story. An Expansion Pack gets announced. And SimGurus slowly start unravelling the gift basket of hints to the community!

Except this time around we really don’t see anything.

First Look at SOMETHING in The Sims 4!
Thanks SimGuruGeorge for the screen!

Wait, what is that? Twitter user SpinningPlumbob was able to witness something hiding in the bushes:

Who is she truly?

SimGuruGeorge hinted at tomorrow’s reveal. Will you be around? Let us know what you think this special something is in the comments below!

What is the next Expansion Pack About?

We have several theories and we want to hear yours!

Only a couple of hours until the full reveal of The Sims 4 Teenage Dream High School Graduation Cap S Scribbles Inspired Expansion Pack!

What is the next Expansion Pack About?

The Rise & Shine Teaser has showcased some possible teasers regarding the upcoming Expansion Pack, including;

  • A Graduation Cap with Crayons
  • An S Scribble in the corner
  • I think that’s about it?

Moving to the official video teaser from The Sims Team, we have some information from EA Creators that could hint at the possible upcoming High School content:

In the video interview, EA asks the Creators a series of questions on the past experiences as Teenagers:

The players answered with some fun questions in the video!

What is the next Expansion Pack About?

Here are the replies:

  • “Incredibly awkward and nerdy”
  • “Don’t judge me!”

The parts they loved:

  • “Doing what I want to do!”
  • “Reinvent myself and test things out about myself.”

If there was drama involved what advice they’d share:

  • “Nobody cares what you are doing!”
  • “Not to take things so seriously.”

And if they’d do it again:

  • “Definitely want to go back and prove that I’m the best!”

And that’s about it we know from the Teaser until the full reveal tomorrow!

What is the next Expansion Pack About?

That is all beside the fact that there’s a full blown leak through the EA Survey about a pack named “High School”. A coincidence? I think not. But let’s see what you think!

The Sims 4 “Teenage” Inspired Expansion Pack is getting Announced

The Sims Team has just published a new teaser for the upcoming Expansion Pack for The Sims 4!

On Twitter there is a special video teaser asking creators about their lives as Teenagers:

The premiere of the Expansion Pack will begin tomorrow! And we will be there every step of the way to report on the Pack. Stay tuned!

Everything teased in The Sims 4’s Upcoming Summer

7

What’s in this Roadmap? Let’s take a deep dive into the teaser

The “Stay Up” Roadmap for The Sims 4 lasted for the good 2 months for the game. In fact, we just had a release of The Sims 4 Werewolves Game Pack last week!

The main Sims Community Team is still on Paid Time Off until July and they’re probably off somewhere taking a rest from the weirdest, most rampant marketing technique known to man kind. Seriously though, they probably haven’t even gotten a chance to play with Werewolves completely yet and we’re already talking about the upcoming Expansion Pack. As if The Sims doesn’t only want to burn out Content Creators, but players of their own game as well…

Nonetheless, it’s still going to be a packed summer from the looks of the teaser (and the leaked information that we have). Let’s take a deep dive of what’s ahead of us!

Rise & Shine (and spend your dime!)

Everything teased in The Sims 4’s Upcoming Summer

The Rise & Shine Roadmap will begin this July and will last until September 2022. Across the image teaser there are multiple posters scattered around that hint at multiple things that will be coming in the season ahead. It also includes confirmations regarding Kits, and the upcoming Expansion Pack. Let’s overanalyze this image and speculate on the things we know (and things we could throw wild guesses at):

The Sims 4 High School Expansion Pack

A couple of weeks ago EA accidentally revealed in their survey that “High School” is one of the Expansion Packs for The Sims 4, before the Rise & Shine Teaser was even posted. The survey later got quickly updated with “High School” being removed. Today, with the official Roadmap, there’s now another layer of confirmation to EA’s own leak: High School is definitely happening.

There are posters on the corner below that heavily hint at High School. On the left there’s an “S” scribble that I’m pretty sure we all used to doodle when we were bored at school. On the right there’s a graduation cap with crayons on the bottom, sort of giving a hint that it’s not University, but a school institution that comes before it.

Either way, it looks like a fun time ahead with the High School Pack. At least we hope so.

The Kits

I have only one thing to say – Kits aren’t that bad if they’re done right. The last packed release of Moonlight Chic and Little Campers was one of the better Kits that The Sims Team has done, and I hope The Sims Team continues with attention to details in these releases. Especially if Stuff Packs are now a thing of the past…

In the teaser there have been two Kits announced, one being marked as “Style Kit” and one as “Build Kit”. Yeah, so a CAS and Build Kit are next on the Roadmap.

In the image teaser above we have a lot of Poster illustrations of Cacti, as well as other plants that seem to be revolving around the Outdoors. For the Style Kit it seems we are getting a Shirt and a Hat. That’s about it for the CAS Kit when it comes to the teaser unfortunately…

The Base Game Update

The Teaser also announced that there’s going to be a Base Game Update for The Sims 4. Whenever The Sims Team announces a Base Game Update seperately in their teasers it usually means something big. What’s it about?

In the teaser there’s an image of a Sun along with the Base Game Update. That’s all we have on that…

What do you think about the Season ahead? Are you Excited? Confused? Didn’t have time to catch up on the previous Content and are wondering what is going on? Or all of the above? Let us know in a very simple Community Poll below:

Every Item Coming With The Sims 4 Werewolves!

All the new objects and CAS assets coming in the Werewolves game pack!

Following the official reveal trailer yesterday, The Sims 4 Werewolves is now available for pre-order and Origin has the first previews of every new Build/Buy and CAS item coming with this add-on pack!

The Origin previews for new content are always exciting because it’s our first opportunity to see the full scope of what we’re getting in terms of objects and CAS pieces. Of course, game packs always come with new gameplay features and very often come with a new world (including Werewolves, which will come with a world called Moonwood Mill) so don’t think that these previews are all Werewolves will have to offer. It’s simply a look into the physical objects of the pack.

Remember! Origin previews always only show one swatch of each item. It is likely that most if not all of what you see here will have a variety of colour swatch options in the game. As always, Sims Community will be doing a detailed overview of everything with all swatches when the Werewolves game pack launches.

Create A Sim Items

From the CAS previews, it looks like we’ll be getting 8 new hairstyles with some of the new hairstyles also being available for children. We also spot two new tattoos, 3 new sets of humanoid nails plus one set of wolf-like nails, new face piercings, and a huge variety of scars for different parts of the body! It also appears that the werewolves can also have ear and face piercings while in their wolf form. Family players will also be happy to see new clothes for toddlers.

I’m personally a fan of the sneakers that are falling apart on the Sim’s feet. Very Rags to Riches. I’m sure a lot of players will enjoy telling Rags to Riches stories with these grungy items.

Build Mode Items

No, we didn’t forget about Build/Buy! These are all the objects coming with the Werewolves game pack from the Build/Buy catalogue. Keep in mind that Origin previews only show what’s in the main catalogue. We imagine that pro builders can no doubt look forward to even more items in the hidden debug catalogues, as is the case with just about every pack release.

Some interesting items of note shown in the previews are a small scale telescope, a grungy garage door, a new rustic-looking mailbox, a baby bassinet, and new toys and beds for toddlers and children, including a bunk bed. We also spot a new gnome, a new guitar, and a mysterious box-like object with a door that sort of reminds us of the elevators and walk-in closets that can be embedded inside the walls. No one’s quite sure what exactly this object is or what its function is but we’re excited to find out!

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

Running wild with everything we noticed in the reveal!

Werewolves are finally coming to The Sims 4! The Sims Team released the reveal trailer today showing off the new world, new CAS and Build/Buy assets, and of course, the werewolves. Like always, we’re here to dissect every last frame of the reveal trailer to break down everything we spotted that we found interesting!

There was lots to unpack in the trailer so let’s get right into it!

Industrial World

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

If we could describe the world of Moonwood Mill, we’d probably say it’s a cross between Evergreen Harbour and Granite Falls. If you take all the old dilapidated factories from Evergreen Harbour and plop them in a dense forest, you have Moonwood Mill. That’s not an insult! We totally dig the backwoods industrial vibe and it’s perfect for a pack of werewolves.

Secret Tree?

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

We spotted this tree in the background of one of the first shots which has moons and stars hanging from its branches and a mysterious opening in its trunk. Perhaps a method of quick travel in Moonwood Mill or does it lead to a secret location like the tree in Willow Creek? Only time will tell!

New Stuff for Kids

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

We have to give The Sims Team credit where credit is due; they’ve been putting a lot more effort into including younger life stages in recent packs. Snowy Escape, Cottage Living, and the Little Campers Kit all had activities for kids and toddlers to enjoy and it looks like they didn’t forget the little ones in the Werewolves pack, either, because we see a new baby bassinet, toddler bed, bunk bed and new toys for kids and toddlers. Also, did they size down that teddy bear or are we getting smaller versions of the stuffed animals? Hm.

New Telescope

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

One complaint about The Sims 4 that players have had for years is that everything is just… huge. For no reason. The observatory, the cupcake maker, the dollhouses, the stuffed animals. So many objects are just unnecessarily massive and don’t fit in most homes. Players have been asking for a small telescope for years and it looks like we’re finally getting our wish!

Peeling Wallpaper

In the same image as the telescope, we also spot this peeling wallpaper! This could be a decal or a new type of wall covering but either way, we love the peeling wallpaper shown here. It would go great in both werewolf and vampire lairs!

Scratch Mark Decals

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

Vampires came with some creepy wall decals to make homes look weathered and worn so it only makes sense that Werewolves would come with their own set of floor and wall decals. After all, werewolves are known for being destructive beasts so we’d honestly be perplexed if we couldn’t cover everything in scratch marks.

New Food

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

We see numerous shots of tables with plates of raw steak on them. We can only assume these are edible by werewolves. We can’t imagine they would be very tasty to non-werewolves, though. There’s also new pop cans with a wolf design on them. Maybe these drinks have special properties for werewolves?

New Exercise Equipment

We also spot new exercise equipment in the image above! It’s been a while since we got new variations of the exercise equipment and these new pieces of equipment are certainly unique. They’re falling apart, held together by tape, and covered in graffiti. They would make for an excellent abandoned gym… that’s been taken over by a werewolf pack.

Vampires vs. Werewolves

There’ve been some subtle and not-so-subtle hints that players who own both Vampires and Werewolves will have some added gameplay involving a feud between the two. From cryptic symbols translated into vampire disses, to a scratched up portrait of Vlad on the wall, to a vampire’s face spray painted onto a punching bag in the previous image… we hope there’s a lot of hot tea to spill there!

New Books

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

The description for the Werewolves pack talks about werewolf, vampire, and spellcaster lore as being part of the pack so perhaps these new books shown here are new skill books? We would love to have new skills to learn.

New Fish?

In the same image as the books, we see a new fish! Personally, I’m a collection enthusiast so anytime I see a new collection or new additions to existing collections, I get excited. This wolf-like fish definitely looks like a new fish that can be caught in the waters of Moonwood Mill! Hopefully this means there are more new collectibles or even a whole new collection coming with this game pack.

Moon Phases

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

Of course, how could we miss the new moon phases? While we’re going to miss the beautiful full moon every night in The Sims 4, the waning and waxing moons will be pretty to see, too. Maybe we’ll even have new moons for extra dark nights! That would be pretty cool.

New Nails

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

We love that The Sims Team has started releasing new nails in almost every pack and these ones look amazing! We also caught glimpses of more wolf-like claws on the werewolf forms so hopefully those are customisable nails in CAS, too. Although this does make us wonder… will werewolves be able to go to spa in their wolf forms to get a manicure for players who have Spa Day? That would be a hilarious sight to see!

New Bonfire

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

Bonfires have been in a couple different packs so far but it looks like we’re getting one designed like a junk heap with the Werewolves game pack! We like the look of this bonfire and think it fits the whole grungy werewolf theme really well.

New Guitar

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

Here we see a werewolf rocking out on a brand new guitar! We always enjoy getting new designs of base game objects that have become kind of dull-looking over the years. Maybe we’ll get some new songs to play? That might be wishful thinking but we can hope.

Custom Fur Patterns?

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

It was easy to miss because it only lasted for a split-second, but this werewolf appears to have one of the same custom pattern presets on their fur that pets have in CAS. Does this mean we’ll be able to paint our werewolves’ fur in CAS the same way we can paint our cats and dogs?

Pop a Squat!

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

Werewolves can do their business outside. Werewolves can squat pee. We repeat, werewolves can squat pee! Pass it on!

New Gnome

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

New gnome! New gnome! New gnome! Who loves gnomes? WE LOVE GNOMES! Looks like we’ll have to update our very important gnome ranking sometime in the near future, huh?

Werewolf Toddlers

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

Players have long lamented how occult children don’t behave like occults until they become teenagers. We want our little vampires to need plasma packs. We want our little mermaids to have tails and swim in the ocean. We want our little spellcasters to have magic. It looks like The Sims Team is finally listening to us because here we see a werewolf toddler howling like a wolf. Hopefully werewolf kids have their own gameplay and The Sims Team goes back and updates other occult children in future pack refreshes.

Porta-Potties

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

We caught a glimpse of grungy portable washrooms in the trailer and while the germaphobe in me is gagging, I can’t deny that they fit the vibe of the pack. They are likely a new style of the public washroom objects found around different worlds.

Day Wolves?

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

During the fight scene between two werewolves, we caught a moment where they were fighting in broad daylight. Does this mean werewolves can gain the ability to retain their wolf form during the day?

Travel by Digging

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

During the same scene, another werewolf is seen digging into the ground to escape the fight going on. The same werewolf is later seen climbing out of the dirt near the bar where other werewolves are partying. This seems to confirm that werewolves will be able to quickly travel from place to place by digging underground.

Tug of War

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

We also see two werewolves playing tug of war with a giant dog toy by the bonfire. So it looks like werewolves will have special dog-like interactions with each other, too.

New Running Style

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

While a lot of players were quick to point out that the werewolf design is basically just a regular Sim with fur and a dog head, they actually do look a little more wolf-like when they run on all fours.

Secret Lair?

Everything We Noticed in The Sims 4 Werewolves

At the end of the trailer, we see a pack of wolves exiting some kind of cave structure. When the camera zooms out, we can see that the cave is sitting on top of a huge cliff overlooking the whole town of Moonwood Mill! Is this a secret werewolf lair? A rabbithole? A WooHoo spot? All three? We need to know!

The list for The Sims 4 Expansion Packs mentions all of the Packs released this year, including High School. Which hasn’t even been announced yet.

Body Hair coming to The Sims 4 in “Future Update”

3

Although not coming with Werewolves, The Sims 4 will be getting Body Hair for FREE in a Future Update!

The latest announcement of The Sims 4 Werewolves Game Pack got everyone wondering what’s going on? Where’s the Body Hair on the Sims on the Reveal Trailer? Aren’t Werewolves supposed to have at least some body hair in their Human Form?

Worry not! It’s just been announced that Body Hair will be coming to The Sims 4 Base Game for FREE! There is a small catch though – the Free Body Hair Update won’t be available right away with the release of The Sims 4 Werewolves Game Pack.

SimGuruFrost made the announcement today that The Sims Team is working on body hair at the moment, and will have more to share when the Update is ready.

The Sims also tweeted that the Update will also be arriving “sooner than we think”. Hopefully it’s just weeks away, it’s been a lot of years since our Sims spent their days hairless…

But for now, no Body Hair. Hey, at least we know it’s coming, right?! And sooner than we think!

Huge thanks to Luumia for the background featured image. You can find his version of Body Hair for The Sims 4 (as a mod) here!
