The Sims 4 Toddlers Update Overview: Skills, Needs and Traits!

Toddlers in The Sims 4 are already bringing the well-deserved hype to life, they are no longer the doll like sims in Sims 3 but now an exciting addition to the family.

The Sims 4 Toddlers Update Overview: Skills, Needs and Traits!

Skills

Of course being a toddler is the most important stage in Sims life where they learn new things and explore the world! So of course, your toddler will have some skills to learn!

Overall, like children, there are 4 main skill types:

  • Communication: “Talking is a huge step for any Toddler. Communication skill teaches Toddlers advanced socials. Improve it by talking with others, and studying advanced Flash Cards.” They can learn communication via Flash Cards (Taught by the parent or carer), Talking with Teddies or other Sims and using their Toddler Tablet watching Toddler Videos.
  • Imagination: “Toddlers with Imagination play with their own world. Imagination skill teaches Toddlers to read and create fantastical worlds with their toys. Gain Imagination skill by playing with Toys and Dolls, listening to music, or looking at Toddler Books.” They can learn Imagination by playing with doll houses, toys, using their Tablet playing Draw with Llama, watching the TV and reading with a parent or by themselves.
  • Movement: “Toddlers who focus on Movement really get around. Movement skill helps toddlers walk faster, run, climb stairs and dance, dance, dance. Improve it by walking around, building with Nesting Blocks, dancing, or via Play wrestling with adults.” They can learn this skill by walking around, playing with adults, dancing, playing with blocks, playing Blicblock Baby on their Toddler Tablet and climbing stairs.
  • Thinking: “Thinking Skill helps toddlers throw fewer tantrums and be more capable of taking care of themselves. It reduces defiance, and helps to solve needs. Thinking Skill is improved by being curious, or by playing with Flash Cards, Nesting Blocks, or the Tablet.” Toddlers enhance their thinking skill by using the Flashcards with a Sim, using ‘what’s this?’ on items, using the Blocks to make shapes and playing on the tablet game Play SimShape.

But also, there is an extra skill:

  • Potty: “Toilet training makes dirty diapers a thing of the past. Potty skill teaches toddlers to use the Potty Chair. Improve it by having an adult Train the toddler.

The Sims 4 Toddlers Update Overview: Skills, Needs and Traits!

Needs

Again, like any other sim, a Toddlers needs come first. Here’s a rundown of how to satisfy them and what can make them negative:

  • Bladder: Use the diaper by clicking on the toddler or potty train on the potty chair with an adult Sims help. Once the Toddler is to level 2 Potty Skill they can pee on their own.
  • Hunger: An Adult Sim can place the toddler in a high chair to feed them or give them a drink. They can also feed them on the floor. But be careful, toddlers like to throw their food on the floor a lot. If a toddler gets hungry, they will become angry and can throw a tantrum for their food.
  • Energy: Toddlers have their own type of bed, but can nap on the floor or sofas. If they get tired they will become angry and can throw a tantrum. You can also read your toddler to sleep and tuck them in.
  • Fun: Playing with toys, dancing, reading, watching TV, playing on the tablet and learning with an adult. Sometimes toddlers won’t want to learn and will become angry that they can’t understand what you’re trying to teach them.
  • Attention: Instead of social toddlers have attention, they need to have someone with them most of the time to feel happy and need a lot of stimuli to keep their attention need good. This can be done by interaction with the toddler, playing or just talking with them. It doesn’t have to be an adult either, other children and toddlers can satisfy this need.
  • Hygiene: Make sure any dirt diapers are changed or get to the potty in time. You can also bathe toddlers in a bath via an adult sim, this can be with bubbles too! Toddlers don’t like to be dirty and will ask for a bath if needed.

Your toddler will ask an adult, if they can’t satisfy their needs by themselves, for help.

The Sims 4 Toddlers Update Overview: Skills, Needs and Traits!

Traits

  • Wild: The wild trait makes toddlers more energetic and earns them the Movement skill faster. These toddlers like to dance, run about and go outside. When they get energetic they won’t listen to anything an adult has to say, they are just too hyper. They also like wrestling with adults.
  • Angelic: These toddlers are easier to deal with in game since they don’t throw tantrums when angry. They will talk to sims they haven’t met before so and if you’re looking for an easy time with your toddler this is the trait to go with.
  • Charmer: These toddlers love to talk and interact with other sims. They aren’t scared to talk to strangers and will ‘share the love’ with them, this means hugging them, it also makes them happy to talk to new people!
  • Clingy: These toddlers are the opposite and don’t like talking to people at all. They get very sad when having to talk to a stranger and get sad when a parent goes to work leaving them. But if they are in a bad mood, being comforted makes them happier faster.
  • Silly: a silly toddler will love telling chicken butt jokes and getting playful, they also earn the imagination skill faster. Playing with toys will make them playful much faster.
  • Fussy: These Toddlers don’t like anything and will try their hardest to make your life a living hell. They always want attention, throw fits and cry. But, them being noticed makes them a lot happier. So if you’re looking for a challenge, here it is!
  • Inquisitive: Curious toddlers like thinking about what these strange objects around them are, helping develop their thinking skill faster. They are happiest when learning and get sad when they don’t learn new things in a while. This is the kind of trait good for a Sim you hope to gain logic type skills with later in life.
  • Independent: These toddlers love to learn alone and don’t listen to adults much. They gain extra skill when left alone and require less attention from other Sims. More of a toddler who’s happy to be a loner and focus on themselves.

Social Interactions

Here’s a breakdown of the basic social interactions for a Toddler and Adult:

Aging

To age a Toddler up, all you need to do is bake a cake like any other sim and click ‘Help Blow Out Candles” Also, any skills your toddler learns will help in their childhood skills!

The Sims 4 Toddlers: Frequently Asked Questions

0

The Sims Team posted an official Frequently Asked Questions Thread for the latest Toddlers Update for The Sims 4. Check it out!

Q. What’s new about Toddlers?
A. The Toddlers in the Sims 4 are adorable, challenging little Sims that feature many of the things you know and love from previous versions of this age group but with some additional content all new to The Sims 4. You can customize your Toddlers with lots of new CAS content including clothing, hair, and even teeth!

Q. Can you create Toddlers in Create A Sim?
A. You can create Toddlers by selecting the Toddler age in Create a Sim. You’ll be able to customize their look in many ways including changing their eyes, mouth, chin, cheeks, and weight.

Q. Do Toddlers have all the same functionality as those in The Sims 2 or 3?
A. Toddlers in The Sims 4 are more active and capable than Toddlers we’ve seen in previous iterations of The Sims. The focus for The Sims 4 is on the development and growth that happens during the toddler age. While you’ll recognize many things including high chairs, potty chairs and learning to talk, Toddlers in the Sims 4 do not drink from bottles, sleep in a crib, nor crawl. Progression and growth is an important part of this age so you will see a toddler walk unsteadily and stumble but improve to be running around the house.

Q. What does the Toddler’s update include?
A. The Toddler’s update comes with an assortment of new objects for your little Sims, ranging from a Toddler bookcase and bed, to a high chair, nesting blocks, and more. For a full list of features included in the update, please visit our patch notes here: forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/908758/january-12-2017-patch-notes/p1?new=1

Q. How do you gain Toddler Skills?
A. Players will be able to unlock Toddler skills three ways:

  1. Performing various actions (e.g. gain a movement skill by walking, or a communication skill by socializing).
  2. Engaging with objects and the world around the Sim (e.g. gain an imagination skill by playing with nesting blocks)
  3. Getting help from a caregiver (e.g. a parent Sim showing the Toddler flash cards)

Q. How do traits work?
A. Players are prompted to pick a Toddler Trait when aging up from a Baby (or in CAS). The player will also be prompted to choose a valid Child Trait when the Toddler ages to a Child.

Q. What are all of the new Toddler traits?
A. The new Toddler Traits include: Angelic, Charmer, Clingy, Fussy, Independent, Inquisitive, Silly and Wild.

Q. What are all of the new Toddler skills?
A. The new Toddler Skills include: Communication, Imagination, Thinking, Movement and Potty.

Q. How long did this update take?
A. We’ve actually been looking into adding this feature into the game for a while, but had to find the right opportunity and resources to make it work.

The Sims 4 Vampires Game Pack: New Information Found in Code

The Sims 4 Vampires Game Pack: New Information Found in Code

The latest update for The Sims 4 introduces new information about the upcoming Vampires Game Pack to the XML code.

The tuning resource “ui.ui_tuning” contains all the loading screen strings:

  • Don’t let your Vampire get a sunburn. Trust us!
  • There are ways to tame Vampire thirst without drinking from Sims.
  • Study up on Vampire Lore to find out more about the ancient ones.
  • Vampires can turn into bats. Loveable, cuddly bats.
  • All windows come with UV protection so vampires are safe indoors!
  • Search the paths of Forgotten Hollow for a chance of finding a rare Plasma Fruit.
  • Vampires LOVE the short days in Forgotten Hollow. Other Sims, not so much.
  • Vampires gain experience, rank up, and unlock more powers.
  • Interactions with bat icons are related to Vampires.
  • Vampires take on weaknesses as they rank up. Choose wisely.
  • Vampires reveal their Dark Form when drinking from Sims.
  • Search the midnight streets of Forgotten Hollow for a Vampire BFF!
  • Pour a cup of coffee and stay up late. Vampires are called Nightwalkers for a reason.
  • Becoming a Vampire can mean enduring multiple days of unusual ailments.

There are also various other tidbits:

  • The two perk types are “Powers” and “Weaknesses” – the amount of powers you can purchase is limited by the number of weaknesses, so in order to get all the powers you want, you’ll need to balance them out with weaknesses.
    • One such weakness is that vampires will only be able to sleep in coffins.
    • There are several mind-control powers, although it’s not currently known what these are.
  • All perk sub-categories point to the same identical text string (** DEBUG **) which suggests either sub-categories have been scrapped, or the code for defining them has been moved somewhere else.
  • Vampire bats can WooHoo and Try for Baby. Furthermore, the game keeps track of pregnancies that occur by bats, suggesting there’s special functionality attached.
  • As mentioned in the loading screen strings, there is a new “Vampire Lore” skill. The skill is 10 levels, but it increases very fast – faster than Minor and Child skills, but not as fast as Toddler skills.
  • There is an entire aspiration category for vampires. This isn’t a general “Occult” category – it’s specific to Vampires.
  • There are three new lot traits, Vampire Nexus, Registered Vampire Lair and On A Dark Ley Line. Vampire Nexus causes Vampires to spawn on the lot more often, whereas Vampire Lair causes Sims living on the lot to receive occasional gifts.
    • The description for the Vampire Lair trait is as follows: “The lot registers as a vampire lair. The League will send various gifts from time to time. Through the mail, no less. Even the immortals use the public mail service. Only available on home residences.”
    • “On A Dark Ley Line” – The dark energy here has a impact on all nocturnal activities. You can expect babies conceived here to require extra care while teething.

The Sims 4 Toddlers Update: Toddlers CAS Overview

What?! TODDLERS?!

We know. We repeat our misbelief in almost every article and it seems surreal every time, but yes, Toddlers have been added in the latest The Sims 4 Game Update.

In this article I’ll be showing you all the thing that came with toddlers. Let’s begin!

Toddlers are now the smallest age group that you can create in Create A Sim. To start creating a toddler, simply open up CAS and select the first icon on the left in the age groups panel.

The Sims 4 Toddlers Update: Toddlers CAS Overview

When it comes to options from the Sim Personality panel, you have the options to change between 2 genders and customize your voice. Each gender gets one voice type that you can modify with the voice pitch slider.

Traits & Aspirations

Toddlers don’t have aspirations yet but they do get 8 new traits! You can only choose 1 trait for your toddler.

  • Angelic – Idyllic, easygoing Toddlers. They are never defiant and they don’t throw a tantrum. They can easily talk to strangers.
  • Charmer – These Toddlers love to socialize. They earn Communication skill faster, and don’t suffer Stranger Danger from strangers. They can Share the Love with other Sims.
  • Clingy – These shy Toddlers avoid Sims outside the household and get sad if left behind. They gain extra skill when taught and they recover faster from bad moods when Comforted.
  • Fussy – Tiny trouble-makers who love to Cry, cause trouble, and Throw Fits. But being noticed makes them Happy and helps them overcome negative Moodlets.
  • Independent – These Toddlers love their freedom, and don’t like to take orders from caregivers. They gain extra skill when they are left alone, and need less Attention than other Toddlers.
  • Inquisitive – Curious explorers. These Toddlers gain Thinking skill slightly faster. They are happiest when learning something, and sad if they haven’t learned anything lately.
  • Silly – Goofy and curious. These Toddlers love to tell jokes and get Playful. They earn imagination skill slightly faster.
  • Wild – Spirited and full of Energy. These Toddlers love to explore and get Energized. They earn Movement skill slightly faster. They get Sad if they haven’t been outside in a while.

The Sims 4 Toddlers Update: Toddlers CAS Overview

Face & Body Sculpting

Just like with other age groups, toddlers’ faces can be fully manipulated. However, you can only modify your toddler’s body shape with the weight slider – there are no manipulation points for a toddler’s body.

You get a ton of presets for your toddler’s face: eyebrows, eyes, cheeks, nose, mouth, jaw, chin, ears – they’re all there.

Teeth

You get to choose one of two types of teeth for your toddler!

Hairstyles

There are 4 new hairstyles that can be applied for both male and female toddlers. You can also choose to make your toddlers bald.

Hats and Head Accessories

There are 2 new hats and 3 new head accessories for your toddlers, both which can be worn by feminine and masculine toddlers.

The Sims 4: Code Found for Pets Expansion Pack

170

Update #3: The following code was found in the sim_info_types Python file, which, unfortunately, further pushes the theory that horses won’t be included in the pack.

class Species(enum.Int):
__qualname__ = ‘Species’
HUMAN = 1
DOG = 2
CAT = 3

class SpeciesExtended(Species):
__qualname__ = ‘SpeciesExtended’
SMALLDOG = 4

@staticmethod
def get_animation_species_param(value):
if value == SpeciesExtended.HUMAN:
return ‘human’
if value == SpeciesExtended.DOG:
return ‘dog’
if value == SpeciesExtended.CAT:
return ‘cat’
if value == SpeciesExtended.SMALLDOG:
return ‘smalldog’
return ”

@staticmethod
def get_species(value):
if value == SpeciesExtended.SMALLDOG:
return Species.DOG
return value

The above code contains the core enum (for those not familiar with code, it’s basically a list of named values) which contains all species, and horses aren’t included in it at all. However, as mentioned previously, it’s possible that the code is incomplete.

Update #2: There doesn’t appear to be any references to horses outside the two state machine files mentioned in update #1. Unfortunately, this means it’s possible horses were originally planned, but then scrapped. There are several other mentions of dogs and cats, but there’s not much that confirms new information. There is code suggesting pets can be picked up by Sims, similar to toddlers, but nothing massively amazing.

It’s possible horses will come and the code is just incomplete, we’ll just have to wait and see. Don’t get your hopes up too much though!

Update #1: Two “State Machine” resources (tuning related to animations) contain references to dogs, cats and even horses. Yep, looks like horses are returning! It also makes the distinction between small dogs and large dogs.

The first few lines of the “JumpOnObject” state machine:

<ASM name=”JumpOnObject” dcc=”sage”>
<Actor name=”x” type=”Sim” master=”true” virtual=”false” />
<Parameter name=”x:age” type=”enum” labels=”baby,child,teen,youngadult,adult,elder” default=”adult” />
<Parameter name=”x:sex” type=”enum” labels=”male,female” default=”male” />
<Parameter name=”x:species” type=”enum” labels=”cat,dog,horse,human” default=”cat” />
<Parameter name=”x:JumpDistance” type=”float” labels=”” default=”1″ />
<Parameter name=”x:JumpHeight” type=”float” labels=”” default=”1″ />
<Parameter name=”x:JumpRatio” type=”float” labels=”” default=”1″ />

The “sitNextTo_Posture” differentiates small dogs from large dogs, but doesn’t mention horses:

<Parameter name=”x:species” template=”species” type=”enum” labels=”human,dog,smalldog,cat” default=”human” />

Today’s content update, which introduces toddlers to The Sims 4, also brings code updates that heavily points to a Pets expansion pack. In the XML resource “relationships.relationship_tracker_tuning”, there is XML code that explicitly mentions cats and dogs.

The Sims 4: New Walk Style Included in the latest Update

6

We know, you’ve probably been too occupied with toddlers to check out what’s new for other life stages. We’re kinda guilty for that too!

To prepare your Sims for the upcoming Vampires Game Pack, The Sims Team included a new ”Creepy” walkstyle in the game. This is the first walkstyle introduced in a game update!

For some reason The Sims Team didn’t mention this addition in their patch notes but as it’s still a big addition to the game, it deserves a mention 🙂

Update: 01/12/2017 – PC Version 1.26.96.1010 / Mac Version 1.26.96.1210

Hey Simmers and Simmodlers,

What’s New?

  • Toddlers.

Wait you skipped right to the what’s ne… what the whaaat?! Toddlers? Toddler toddlers… toddlers? Um, did you just say toddlers?

Perhaps. But the long standing ‘no talk’ of toddlers talk may be toddler blocking me. And, as such I can neither confirm nor deny their tiny toddler toddling presence in this release. I can however, say that any resemblance to a toddler in this toddler release is purely todd-idental… ler.

I am also required by the Toddler Coalition for the Betterment and Care of Toddlerhood to provide a few disclaimers:

  • For you and your toddler’s safety, please keep all toddlers at least 5 feet from all toddler messaging about toddlers.
  • In case of fire do not break glass, but grab the nearest toddler and exit the building in an orderly fashion.
    • Once safe, please take a moment to find the toddlers parents if the toddler was not yours.
  • Also, for a toddler lasting more than 9 days, turn aging on.
  • Batteries not included, so feed your toddler.
  • For identification purposes, this is a toddler:  o>-<
    • Not actual size

Well whew! We’ve just had 24 toddlers already born in these release notes (make that 25). I feel there may be more toddlers on the way… so Woohoo*!

*Woohoo will not directly produce a toddler, but provide for the groundwork for a future toddler.

Argh! So… TELL ME ABOUT TODDLERS already!!!

Ok, ok alright. All things Toddlers…

Let’s start with “How do you get a Toddler”?

Add your toddler in Create a Sim!

  • You can add them to a new or existing household through Create a Sim. And customize them as you would any other Sim:
    • Select their voice, gender, and ASSIGN A RELATIONSHIP
      • Sorry for the caps, but this is kind of important. Toddlers have a special relationship with caregivers.
      • Mothers, brothers, fathers, sisters, or anyone you choose via the in game interaction Adopt as Caregiver (found under the toddlers Help… interaction menu) are caregivers.
      • Being a Caregiver will ensure that the caregiver Sim cares for the toddler, while other Sims may be less inclined to answer the crying calls of your average toddler.
  • Ok, now that the Caregiver bit is over with… let’s get into the other customization options.
    • 8 new traits to pick from!
      • Angelic, Fussy, Silly, Charmer, Independent, Wild, Clingy, and Inquisitive
    • Presets for the various toddler body and head parts to assist in your customization, as well as the same ability to modify the body and face parts that other Sims have.
    • All the same skin tones as adults (yes, Aliens too!)
      • Does it make sense that that toddler wears an alien sized diaper?
      • No, no it doesn’t. But, it’s really cute!
    • Plenty of Styled Looks to choose from.
    • And of course all the usual stuff…
      • Full body outfits, tops, bottoms, socks, leggings, and shoes.
      • Glasses, hats, hairs (and hair colors), freckles, and teeth.
        • Did we talk about the new teeth yet?
        • Yes, teeth for all ages! Head in to Create a Sim, click on your Sims head, click the Face category, and then Teeth to customize your Sims smile.
          • I like the braces.

Adopt your toddler!

  • Choose the Household… Adopt option on the computer, to adopt your very own toddler!
    • They come fully toddler-ized, ready for your snuggles.

Or, if you want to do things the old fashioned way, age up your baby!

  • It starts with… look it’s a birds and bees thing. There’s a flower, some pollen, and the bee… um, go ask your mom.

So, now you have a toddler…

How do you care for them?

  • Bathe, and Bubble Bathe them. Be aware of the possible splash back.
  • With a Potty Chair they can Go Potty, and Ask for Potty Help… or just use their diaper.
    • And of course, non-toddlers will have to Clean the Potty, and Change the Diaper.
  • Sleep, Nap, Ask to be Read to Sleep or Tucked in, Sit and Chat all on a Toddler Bed.
  • Toddlers prefer the high chair where they can Ask for Food or Drink, and of course Eat.
    • But they may find their food more fun than edible.
  • Be hugged, snuggled, talked or played with, or listened to.

And as they do ‘things’ they learn skills like communication, movement, thinking, imagination, and potty.

  • And their caregivers can be available to mentor and help them along.

But they want to have fun to, right?

Of course, and there are many ways for toddlers to have fun, or… not.

  • They can cry, laugh, yell, and throw a tantrum. Or babble in the mirror, tell stories, talk about dinosaurs, princesses, superheroes, parties, art, the day, their favorite animals, or just Ask Why… over and over and over.
  • Or play in things, find out what that is, splash in the toilet (hopefully you are a neat Sim), ask to be picked up, or talk to strangers (stranger danger).
  • Maybe they want to watch toddler videos, play Simshape or Blicblock Baby, draw with llama on the Wabbit Tablet. Or build a tower, study shapes, or ask others to help them build and study with the Nesting Blocks.
  • They can hit, hug, or talk to their giant stuffed animals.
  • Read or ask to be read a toddler book.
  • Look at flash cards, and learn animals, basic needs, letters, or objects.
  • Play with the toybox toys, and the dollhouse. Dance and listen to music (including the new Lullaby and Kids radio station).
  • Just to name a few…

Woah, ok… um, I hate to ask but can toddlers…

  • No, toddlers do not die. They are fireproof.

No, no… NO! I wasn’t… look, I just wanted to know can toddlers…

  • Yes, they can climb stairs, run and walk – but you’ll have to improve their movement skill.

Stop that, I just wanted to know can toddlers do anything else?

Yes, toddlers can…

…be your little sister or brother, son or daughter. Try your patience. Be loving but a handful. They can take all your time, or be ignored. They can travel with you, or go to daycare. Or you can stay at home, and hire a nanny. They can provide special moments for you and your Sims. And they can grow and learn, as they age up into children, teens, young adults, adults, and eventually elders. They can’t die, but they can be taken away. And ultimately, they can be part of your Sims family, and your stories.

Anything else?

Yes, in addition to toddlers, and I strongly suggest you pick up a couple of these if you intend to have a toddler, you can find the following items in Build Mode under the Kids Room sort (just click on the 3 blocks in the image):

  • 2 Toddler Beds
  • 3 High Chairs
  • Wabbit Tablet
  • Nesting Blocks
  • Chomper the Devourer toy box
  • A toddler sized Dollhouse
  • A Bookshelf and 12 toddler books
  • 2 Potty Chairs
  • 6 new toy box toys (bus, kitty, bear, ducky, butterfly, and Tentacle Tom)

And…

  • 2 Curtains, 5 wall decals, a light for floors and a light for ceilings, a dresser, a rug, a wall shelf, an end table, a wall sculpture, a living chair, 4 decorated toddler doors, AND 7 walls and 2 floors.

That sure is a lot. Did you address any issues?

Just a couple, er some, er what is five in the verbal shorthand? And is couple really short for two? It has three extra letters. I’m so confused…

  • You can now use the Design Tool on a bassinet containing a baby, because sometimes your baby just doesn’t match your room.
    • And you can’t change the baby. Put down the baby safe paint and brush, and just back away.
  • Walls can now be built along all four edges of penthouse lots, rather than just three.
  • We addressed an issue that could cause the game to freeze while playing the Doctor Career or when hiring a Nanny in some languages.
    • *childish moment* Playing doctor, hehe.
  • Confident children will no longer get a whim to practice pick-up lines.
  • We addressed an issue that could cause doors to be stuck ajar.
    • Your door is ajar.
    • No, it’s a door.

And on that toddler’ish joke, that’s the update folks. In the time it took you to read these release notes, the following toddlers came to be in the Sims…

TODDLERS NOW AVAILABLE IN THE SIMS 4! (FREE UPDATE)

After SO LONG, The Sims Team has announced that as of today, you’ll be able to play with Toddlers in The Sims 4!

Toddlers, a new life stage in the game, can be downloaded through a new The Sims 4 Update (free of charge of course).

BLOG POST

Today is a big day for The Sims™ 4. We’re excited to announce the biggest update for The Sims 4 to date, and it comes in a surprisingly “little” package. Toddlers* are available as a free update for you to download into your game right now!

In the two years since we launched The Sims 4, we’ve heard from players on what they’d love to see added to the game. While we can’t always address these requests, we do take note of all of the feedback you’ve supplied, and what kind of experiences you are asking for. We know that the toddler life stage is an experience that many of you have consistently asked for, and it’s very important to us that as we do it in a way that makes sense for The Sims 4, and feels right for our players.

TODDLERS NOW AVAILABLE IN THE SIMS 4! (FREE UPDATE)

I’m not exaggerating when I say we’ve been talking about this particular update for years. We just had to find the right time, resources and design to allow us to start the heavy process of actually building and bringing Toddlers to life. And believe me when I say it has been really REALLY difficult to not talk about this as we worked to get it right.

Toddlers is something that has been in the works for a while, and I am really proud of the work that the team has put in to creating these adorable little Sims. I think you’re really going to love how interactive they are, so get ready for a lot of cute, heart-warming moments as your Sims help their toddlers to develop new skills through using flash cards; teach them to talk; have a dance party; and encourage them to go potty. Your Sims can also bond with your toddler by reading them to sleep, carrying them around the house, or babbling away about trucks.

The Sims 4 base game has always provided a foundation upon which we’ve consistently grown and expanded, and we hope that Toddlers will help to capture those moments of growth and nurturing we’ve seen you share over the years – in addition to highlighting the special bonds between parents and toddlers as they grow. We’ve added over a hundred new animations, dozens of new interactions, and great new suites of outfits and objects. But most importantly, we’ve bridged a really meaningful part of your Sims’ lives.

TODDLERS NOW AVAILABLE IN THE SIMS 4! (FREE UPDATE)

I’ve been playing with toddlers myself (a little charmer who loves her tablet and taking naps on the floor) and I can’t wait to see what you do! This update is a result of hearing what you, the players, really want from The Sims 4 – so please keep sharing your feedback and screenshots with us.
