The Sims 4 Daily Rewards: Overview of Features and Unlockables

The Sims 4 has a new incentive to reward its players for logging into the game.

The surprise that The Sims Team has been teasing for two weeks straight has been revealed with the latest Sims 4 Patch. More specifically, completely uncovered in the game’s files and data.

The Sims 4 Daily Rewards is a new Feature that will pop up into your game’s Main Menu, offering an incentive to unlock new Outfits, Objects and even Traits to your game. What’s interesting about this is that it follows a free-to-play logistic route seen in games such as Fortnite or The Sims Mobile. Making it seem like this is only the start of what’s to come with future monetization methods of The Sims Franchise…

Either way, let’s dig into everything there is to the new Daily Rewards and how you can unlock the new Sims 4 items and features into your game!

Please note that a regular internet connection will be required on Desktop and Console devices in order to claim these features.

The Sims 4 Daily Rewards for the Month Ahead

The first round of Sims 4 Daily Rewards will last for 4 weeks. With a speculated start date set for either May 29th or May 30th, 2024. Throughout the next four weeks you’ll be able to unlock different sets of items, including:

Week 1

  • Day 1: Bullseye Dartboard
  • Day 2: Night Sky Layered Necklace – Embrace the night with this layered necklace featuring three stars resting above a crescent moon.
  • Day 3: Guerdon Goods Mini Fridge and NanoCan 2.0 – Guerdon Goods brings you this wonderful matching mini fridge and garbage can combo. Just don’t forget to recycle those soda cans.

Week 2

  • Day 1: Compact Bar – Whether you’re practicing your Mixology skills or just serving up juice for your friends, you can save space without compromising on quality with the Compact Bar.
  • Day 2: Serenity Hairstyle – These luscious locks are the perfect length for a sassy hair flip.

Week 3

  • Day 1: Casual Comfort Pillow – How many more pillows do you need? More. The answer is always more.
  • Day 1: Practice Makes Perfect (CAS Trait) – Sims with this trait learn skills faster, even if they are a bit slower at first.

Week 4

  • Day 1: Guerdon Goods Vending Machine and Athleisure Wear – Sure, you could go for a jog, or you could grab a few snacks and relax on the sofa instead.
sims 4 daily rewards preview

For example, if you want to unlock all the items from Week 1, you’ll have to login into The Sims 4 three times in a span of one week to complete the Week 1 Reward set. That means that if you’ve unlocked the Bullseye Dartboard for opening the game once, you’ll be able to unlock the Layered Necklace after 24 hours pass by. And so on with other items within the same week.

If, let’s say, you miss out on the first week of items, you won’t be able to obtain them ever again. Still, you can unlock items from Week 2 or other future weeks depending when you login next into The Sims 4.

The first Sims 4 Daily Rewards event is set to finish by the end of June 2024.

How to Claim The Sims 4 Login Rewards

It’s easy! Simply select the Freezer Bunny Login Event screen on the Main Menu after the event goes live. From there you’ll be taken to the menu where you can claim your rewards.

event tile ts4 main menu

Under each item there’s a “Claim” button that gets unlocked after a select time period has passed by. You can also accumulate and stack multiple rewards per week and claim them simultaneously – as long as you’re on time!

Sims 4 Daily Rewards

Daily Rewards Unlockables Overview

Let’s get the first thing out of the way, and those are the new Build Objects. Player @Simmatically uncovered a preview of swatches that you should be able to expect with the first Sims 4 Daily Rewards items. See what they look like in-game down below:

Practice Makes Perfect Trait

Player @RexEdogawa discovered interesting facts about the Practice Makes Perfect Trait that you’ll be able to obtain from Week 3 of Sims 4 Daily Rewards:

Sims 4 Daily Rewards Trait
  • It’s not a reward trait but a CAS one.
  • It does not reward your Sims, in fact, it punishes them by making them learn ALL skills at a 50% speed.
  • However, it works in a way that ‘Practicing’ skills in a category helps.

How this ‘practice makes perfect’ works: By default your Sims learn all skills at 50% speed. But by practicing a single category (Creative, Social, Physical and Mental) continuously, they can up the speed to 90%, 130%, 160% and even a whopping 180%

However, once they stop practicing, this buff starts to decay. Their practice will be checked daily, if no bugs occur. So they need to practice each category every day. And it will eventually drop back to 50%. So it’s kind of a challenging trait other than a reward one.

If they can keep practicing, which is really very easy since you can just read four skill books for 5 minutes each day… They can keep their 180% skill boost. Permanent Double Boost Week!

We’re still awaiting for in-game previews of the new Create A Sim items. Still, you can can already see the game preview of the new Hairstyle thanks to the Mod unlock below!

PC / Mac: Instantly unlock Build and CAS Daily Rewards with a Mod

If you’re on PC or Mac and want to skip the hassle of having to login each day (or depend on an internet connection) to use the new Sims 4 Daily Rewards, you don’t have to worry. Players have proven that these items can be unlocked additionally through a Mod, considering that these items already exist within The Sims 4 Base Game files.

Modder Simsiboy has already released their Mod for the game, unlocking all the Build Objects as well as the new CAS Hairstyle. It’s only a matter of time until we see unlocks for the new Trait too…

You can get these Modded Unlocks for free on Simsiboy’s Patreon. Simply paste the .package files into your Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods folder and enjoy the contents. Note that these items will be marked as Modded content in your game rather than as official Event Rewards.

Another effective workaround!

And this one is for both Desktop and Console players! @loner_cowplant pointed out a brilliant solution to unlock the new Practice Makes Perfect Trait. Simply click the Randomize button on traits in Create A Sim until the reward trait pops out:

sims 4 login rewards 2

And for the Build Objects? There’s a solution there too! Use the new “Event Rewards” filter in Build Mode and add any and every color within the filters to have the new Sims 4 Login Rewards show up.

It seems to be a glitch, but it works brilliantly. Thanks @TheHenfordHen for the tip!

How to enable DirectX 11 for The Sims 4 (Windows Tutorial)

0

Improve your performance and unlock smoother gameplay with this tutorial!

The latest Patch for The Sims 4 has brought in a whole new game version underneath for Windows players. Enabling the complete usage of DirectX 11 – a graphics driver that processes many of the in-game mechanics you see and use in your game.

The latest update for the game doesn’t automatically enable the game to run through DirectX 11, meaning that you’ll have to follow a specified tutorial on how to get the newest version of the game running.

Sims 4 DirectX Tutorial

According to the Patch Notes, this will let The Sims Team continue delivering “moreimmersive environments and details” with their future game releases, so here’s to hoping that this is a road towards a richer gameplay experience with less issues.

Enabling The Sims 4 DirectX 11 Version – Official Tutorial

The official tutorial comes from EA_Cade on EA AHQ. If you’re a Windows player who wants to try out the smoothest, most optimized version of The Sims 4 follow these steps below:

Overview

DirectX 11, abbreviated as DX11, is a set of drivers from Microsoft that enhance visual and audio performance for games. Applying DX11 to The Sims 4 on a compatible PC can result in better performance, smoother animations, and overall improved gameplay experience.

How to check if your computer supports DirectX 11

  1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type “dxdiag” and press Enter.
  3. In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window that appears, click on the “Display” tab, or “Display 1” tab if you have a multi-monitor setup.
  4. Under the “Drivers” section, look for “Feature Levels”. If “11_0” or higher is listed, your computer supports DX11.

Sul Sul Simmers!

It’s time for some late Spring cleaning! Let’s fix some things and make a few improvements. We’ve got quite the spread, with a host of resolutions for base game issues as well as addressing a wide assortment of packs. There’re also some performance gains, gallery updates, and DirectX 11 previews. We squeezed lots into this release, but there’s still more to come! Talk to you soon!

– The Sims 4 Team

Bug Fixes & Updates

DirectX 11 Preview

  • DirectX 11 is available on The Sims 4 on an opt-in basis and will be rolled out fully in a later update for Simmers running Windows. If you opt to run The Sims 4 using DirectX 11, you will potentially experience enhanced game performance and graphics quality. This update is designed to increase the overall gaming experience, with improved rendering capabilities that will allow for more details and immersive environments in future releases! We would appreciate your feedback and any issues you experience on our DirectX 11 Answers HQ thread.
    • Simmers running Windows and have DirectX 11 compatible hardware can now enter the argument -dx11 into the EA app or Steam to switch to using this renderer. You will be able to see which DirectX version The Sims 4 is using in your game version information displayed in the bottom right corner of the Main Menu.
      • You can find all the information you need to check if your PC is DirectX 11 compatible and learn how to enter launch arguments for both EA app and Steam here.
  • While DirectX 11 is available for those Simmers who want to try it, you may experience visual issues with mods so we recommend disabling all mods while using this command line argument.

Base Game

  • Oh you thought you could hide, dishes? We will find you and we will wash you. Dishes left in corners will no longer be ignored when cleaning up.
  • Begone weeds! Plants won’t grow weeds when Out of Season. If a plant has them when it becomes Out of Season, the weeds will be removed until it’s In Season again.
  • Campfires will stop causing so many fires on the lot. Campfire spreadfire was triggering a 50% chance every 10 sim-minutes to burn objects other than chairs in the area. We removed that to only focus on when Fireworks trigger (which we all know is the real danger).
  • “A Trash Can Is Required” message will no longer display when trash cans are present on the active lot. Get that garbage outta here.
  • Skills will not randomly increase or change when leaving the lot or editing the household. If your Sim knows, they know.
  • The skills list is arranged in alphabetical order and my eye will no longer twitch when looking at it.
  • TS4 Packs are listed in the right order in the Build/Buy filter. Get back in line For Rent, Home Chef Hustle and Crystal Creations!
  • Careers will no longer have a blank daily task menu.
  • Summon Grilled Cheese interaction will no longer drop from the interaction queue.
  • Sim will no longer get stuck in the ground and continue to Swim Laps if the pool is removed in the middle of it. Because physics. Now the Sim will reset. Because magic.
  • Calendar notification light will remain on after traveling. No forgetting those important events.
  • Customizable pronouns were adjusted to appear correctly on a few of the Romantic Relationship phone calls and will no longer display improper usage like “ask their out.”
  • Sims can properly merge or move households with NPC Sims “not in world”; the merge/move button is now accessible. It’s all about bringing families together!

Console

After switching to build mode from world map a red bar will no longer display in the upper right corner.

Performance

  • We’ve made some optimizations so the game uses less memory. You may experience fewer crashes, better frame rate, and/or more responsive simulation.
  • We’ve improved the lot load process so it should happen a bit faster.

Cats & Dogs / City Living

  • Small dogs, puppies, and kittens will properly use the elevator to go downstairs from Penthouses. They can finally go potty! Poor little things.

Cottage Living

  • Hatchable and spoiled eggs will now remain visible in the Chicken coop whenever the Sim travels to the lot.

Dine Out

  • ‘Order For Table’ interaction will properly clear from the interaction queue after the waiter delivers food to the table.
  • Home Chef Hustles players can now add Waffles to the Restaurant Menu. More menu additions to come.

Eco Lifestyle

  • Nose rings will no longer break when paired with brow piercings from this pack.

For Rent

  • Property Ownership of “Tam Nang Sands” lot will be recognized in the owned rental tab.
  • “Unpleasant Surroundings” Moodlet no longer triggered from the Pressure cooker and Kettle.
  • Tourist location icons will now appear correctly when hovering over the Tomarang world select screen.

Gallery Server

  • All profanity filter false positive reports sent to us via The Sims 4 Gallery Profanity Filter Feedback survey up to May 1st have been reviewed and changes implemented. We appreciate all the reports and responses and will continue to update our systems based on your feedback.
  • Non-anonymous Gallery users appearing in the Following and Followers tabs will once again display the number of Followers each user has.

Get to Work

  • Aliens will stop having noticeable changes in facial structure (placement, size, etc) when aging up. No more morph faces.

Growing Together

  • The “Had a Baby” Milestone now triggers from having a Science Baby or giving birth at the hospital rabbithole.

High School Years

  • Teens cannot send flirty messages on Social Bunny to adults or household family members.
  • After a teen high school Sim completes all tasks and aces exams, they will also be promoted to a better grade. They’ve earned it!

Horse Ranch

  • We all know how cute they are, but Sims will no longer autonomously want to buy mini goats (causing the UI to pop up).
  • Nectar value is now properly increased when selling to the mysterious rancher.
  • Horses will no longer get stuck while sleeping too close to the Horse training ball.

Island Living

  • Mermaid Conservationists can now complete the “Snorkel in Mua Pel’am” job task.

Seasons

  • During winter, the weeding animation will no longer repeat and the Sim will actually remove all the weeds surrounding the plants. Checkmate weeds!

Patch Tidbits

The Sims 4 Update contains a new Build / Buy Objects Filter that allows you to search for “Event Rewards”. Presuming it’s for in-game events like Parties and such.

You may notice we’re investigating more issues than previous months; this is because we’ve assembled a team to invest in the core game experience, including tackling technical issues within The Sims 4 . We have continued to review reported concerns that have interrupted your The Sims 4 gameplay over time, and we recognize that this has caused much frustration. However, according to the EA Community Manager, this is going to be something entirely different that he’s been waiting for a long time.

Oh, how I have been waiting for this!

Looking forward to seeing how the community reacts to this one.

This content update should be something entirely different from the new Hairstyles that were shown off in late March. Which should be an entirely different SDX drop of its own released some time this July.

It’s not known yet what the update is about, as the latest Sims 4 Summer Roadmap only covered a brief teaser and there being “Two Free Stylish Updates”. If two of them are the recently added Swimwear and new Hairstyles coming in July, is there a third one that Maxis deliberately forgot to mention?

The Sims 4 is set to have over 15 Content Releases in the next 12 Months

0

EA’s latest report for the next Fiscal Year promises over a dozen of Sims 4 releases.

The Sims 4 series is far from over. With the game turning a decade since its original release in 2014, the publisher Electronic Arts is very sure about its bright future.

The latest Financial Report from EA has disclosed a little about what to expect in the next 12 months. More specifically, how many content releases are in store for us until April 2025.

The Sims 4 doubles down on Active Players

EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson has shared the current statistics of the game’s player base, and how much The Sims 4’s community has expanded over the last 12 months. From April 2023 until April 2024, the game managed to double down on its active player base. Surpassing over 85 million players actively playing the game.

The passion of the Sims community remains strong as the franchise powers toward its 25th anniversary. Since its launch in 2014, The Sims 4 has surpassed 85 million players, with FY24 up double digits year over year. The Sims Online and The Sims Mobile, combined have been downloaded over 500 million times. This is already one of the largest communities in the world, and we believe this hugely successful franchise has the potential to become one of the largest creator platforms in entertainment. An early proof point of the platform’s evolution is the hundreds of millions of user generated content items that were shared in this fiscal year.

With 3 Expansion Pack releases, the return of Stuff Packs and almost a dozen of Kits its no wonder that the series managed to both retain and entertain its player base.

The Future of The Sims 4

Although Andrew Wilson didn’t specify the exact types of content and Packs coming to the game in the future, he did put it under a vague umbrella of “Content Updates” in EA’s earning release. Stating that Sims 4 players should expect more than 15 content updates in the next 12 months.

Looking ahead, we are committed to entertaining and inspiring our loyal and engaged Sims 4 fans through over 15 content updates over the coming year, while working on multiple experiences in the Sims universe to leverage user generated content to deepen our community and expand our audience.

A Sims player might think that a “content update” in this context could relate to Free Base Game feature and content updates. However, those free updates usually are accompanied with Packs and Kit releases alongside. Plus, the professional jargon in this earnings statement sounds more like its enthused about putting out over 15 releases of paid content rather than free.

Time will tell what the number ratio of Packs vs Kits releases is going to be within this rough estimate. If it’s going to be anything like the last year, we’re in for a treat!

Nothing has been stated around The Sims 5 (Project Rene) this time around. Hopefully EA is keeping the news a surprise for their next Behind The Sims livestream!

Bug Fixes

Base Game

  • Plants that are alive and well will no longer emit green “stink clouds” as if they were dead. Translations related to this fix will be available in the next release!
  • After enforcing regulations with the Landgraab Power Company, power on a Sim’s lot will no longer be unexpectedly shut off when bills are paid in full.
  • What an identity crisis! Simmers playing in any language besides English will no longer see the First and Last Name panel blank in CAS for Sims that have selected pronouns.
  • Um, wasn’t this supposed to be a group activity? When doing Group Cooking, all Sims will now participate.

Gallery Server

  • We have been continually reviewing your Gallery profanity reports, which can be submitted through the The Sims 4 Gallery Profanity Filter Feedback survey, and we have been updating the ruleset to allow Simmer freedom while keeping others safe. A couple of highlights include:
    • Reducing the strictness of how hashtags were handled when listed in specific orders
    • Maxis-created Sims, even from past Sims games, should no longer be prevented from uploading if you choose to recreate one or more

Eco Lifestyle

  • We fixed an issue where The Dew Collector was not collecting any water. Now, it will correctly collect water, and the water level will continue to rise.

High School Years

  • Timestamps are now updated properly on the Social Bunny App. Phew, talk about FOMO!

Horse Ranch

  • While admirable, Sims will no longer express a desire to level up their Nectar Making skill, when that skill is already maxed out.
  • Yipee, Horse Riding now helps Sims lose weight!

For Rent

  • In this economy?! The maximum available rent value will no longer lower after evicting a tenant during a grace period in 11C Sungai Point.
  • Yikes. Now, this is going to require an audit! Landlords who own a Residential Rental Lot and own a business will no longer have fund transfer issues. Transfers from the business to the household will no longer fail, and money will no longer duplicate household funds when transferring to a business.

Crystal Creations

  • The shawl sweater from Crystal Creations is now visible when selecting a “Fashion Choice” in CAS filters. Please be advised that wearing this shawl did not grant the power of invisibility.

Realm of Magic

  • What a conundrum! When aliens abduct Spellcasters, they will now become pregnant and give birth to an alien baby instead of a Sim baby.

Werewolves

  • Tastes like kibble! After taking the ‘Wolf-B-Gone’ drink, Sims will no longer have a fury glow still showing.
  • Updated a series of CAS accessories that were originally showing up for werewolves, even though those accessories were not applicable to werewolves.

Grunge Revival

  • A texture issue with the chipped nails in Grunge Revival has been updated.

Poolside Splash

  • Textures on one of the tank tops have been updated to remove some texture bleeding.

Castle Estate

  • Hear ye, hear ye. All Castle Estate Windows have been updated to show up in the correct wall height categories.
  • The arrow slit window has been updated to show that it can be placed on curved walls.
  • The “Heraldic Crest of Yore” and the “The Eavesdropping Llama” have been updated to appear in Outdoor Wall Sculptures. Your castle has never looked better!

The Sims Direct Team has also shared an important notice about a potential notification. Some players should expect a bogus notice regards a Sims Delivery Express with the new Sims 4 Update. As instructed by EA, you should ignore this notification:

In the meantime, some players may receive a pop-up message “Sims Delivery Content Not Installed.” You can ignore this error by clicking “Yes, Play now.” Your content remains in-game, and today’s patch will resolve this pop-up within the next hour.

The Sims 4 Urban Homage Kit

Dress to impress with The Sims 4 Urban Homage Kit, created in collaboration with multi-award-winning gaming content creator and DE&I advocate, Danielle “Ebonix” Udogaranya.

Turn heads and make your Sim stand out as the ultimate virtual style icon with looks that offer a fresh take on nostalgic London city-inspired 90s and Noughties (a UK expression for the years between 2000 to 2009) fashion trends, with lively patterns, vibrant graffiti motifs and eye-catching accessories. These modern looks are bold and unapologetic, inspired by a time and place near and dear to Ebonix.

With striking ensembles and statement pieces such as iconic overalls, butterfly tops, eye-catching layered jewelry and glamorous new nails, Sims can confidently strut in style and express their individuality in more ways than ever before.

“When I came up with Urban Homage, the pitch [to Maxis] was paying homage to the 80s, 90s, and 00s,” says Ebonix. “[The Kit] is inspired by the urban chic culture which highlights the innovation, diversity and vibrancy that city life fosters which I very much embrace as part of my day to day wears. So with that said, I wanted to bring to life some timeless pieces that tap into eras that we draw inspiration from and are still the blueprint of fashion innovation to this day, with a variety of outfits that are dynamic and vibrant, traditional and contemporary, and rich with cultural trends!

Fun fact: The numbers on the basketball shorts are actually the birthdays of Ebonix’s mom (24), dad (18), best friend (16), goddaughter (14) and her own (10)! She felt this would be such a beautiful, personal touch to commemorate and pay homage to the people who mean the absolute world to me.”
