On May 6th, 2013, The Sims Team has announced that they’re working on the latest installment in The Sims Franchise – The Sims 4.
The announcement of The Sims 4 didn’t carry much information, other than the fact that it would “celebrate the heart and soul of The Sims”. The team also released a rough logo of The Sims 4, as well as a cryptic render of two characters who weren’t included in the final version of the game and yeah – Bella Goth.
The Sims 4’s announcement followed a similar pattern of game announcements that were made for previous installments of The Sims as well. The Sims 2 was announced on May 5th, 2003 and The Sims 3 was announced 5 years later on March 19th, 2008. Considering it’s been 5 years since The Sims 4’s announcement, is it reasonable to expect a new installment for The Sims being announced in the coming period?
I would actually be so disappointed if they announced The Sims 5 this year – The Sims 4 has been so slow, and even after 4 years (well, 3 and a half) we only have 4 expansion packs, compared to The Sims 3 which had 9 at this point. The Sims 4 needs a lot more work done to it before I could happily say its at a stage of ‘minimum completion’.
