The Law Career is just one of three brand new careers that come with The Sims 4 Discover University. The career itself comes with two branches.
As with any career, your Sim can join the Engineer Career simply by sitting down at a laptop/computer, using their cell phone or by the job tab on the user interface. You should keep in mind that if your Sim has completed a degree that relates to the chosen career that your Sim is joining, they have the option to either start at the lowest level or at a higher point in the career. You will also notice that your Sim will receive a higher hourly rate and a signing bonus (which is only awarded once per Sim every seven days) and also more vacation days.
Once you have joined the career you will be greeted with a pop up asking you if you wish to start the first Work From Home Assignment/Work Assignment/Daily Task. You can either start it right away or hold off and do it at a time that suits your Sim better. Just make sure it is completed as soon as possible every time.
Note: If you are not sure what your Sims work from home assignment is or what you need to do you, can head to the Career panel and there will be a section for Work From Home Assignments/Work Assignment. Hover over the required task and it will let you know how to complete it.
When it is time for your first shift you will be presented with another small pop up which asks you if you want your Sim to Go To Work, Work from Home or Take Paid Time Off (PTO). The choice is up to you. If you choose to Go To Work or Work From Home you will still be working towards your Sims next promotion. If you choose to Take PTO your Sim can go about their day however they please. If you choose to Work From Home make sure you check the Career Panel to see what tasks your Sim needs to complete during the day.

- Hourly Rate – $22

Promising Prosecutor
- Hourly Rate – $105

- Bonus – $750 & Barrister’s Bookcase
The Law Career divides into two different branches which are either the Judge branch or the Private Attorney branch. You can choose either one and see where it takes your Sim.
Judge
Gavel Smasher

Honourable Arbitrator
- Hourly Rate – $220
- Schedule –Tues, Thurs, Fri 8 am-4 pm
- Promotion Tasks – Reach Level 9 Research & Debate Skill, Reach Level 6 Logic Skill
- Bonus – $1500 & Guest Speak at University about Law Interaction.
Chief of Justice
- Hourly Rate – $425
- Schedule –Tues, Thurs, Fri 8 am-4 pm
- Promotion Tasks – Reach Level 10 Research & Debate Skill, Reach Level 7 Logic Skill
- Bonus – $2200 & On a Scale of 1 to Justice
Once your Sim becomes earns the Chief of Justice promotion, there will be no further promotions. However, your Sim can periodically earn a bonus and also a raise that will increase their hourly rate over time based on their performance.
Private Attorney
Lead Litigator
- Hourly Rate – $140
- Schedule – Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri 8 am-5 pm
- Promotion Tasks – Reach Level 8 Research & Debate Skill, Reach Level 5 Charisma Skill
- Bonus – $1450 & New Clothes. Your Sim will also unlock the following interactions: Craft Legal Argument, Research Case Law, Discuss Complex Case Law and Visit University Law Class.
Legal Eagle
- Hourly Rate – $225
- Schedule – Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri 8 am-5 pm
- Promotion Tasks – Reach Level 9 Research & Debate Skill, Reach Level 6 Charisma Skill
- Bonus – $1850
Preeminent Partner
- Hourly Rate – $450
- Schedule – Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri 8 am-3 pm
- Promotion Tasks – Reach Level 10 Research & Debate Skill, Reach Level 7 Charisma Skill
- Bonus – $2600 & On a Scale of 1 to Justice
Once your Sim becomes earns the Preeminent Partner promotion, there will be no further promotions. However, your Sim can periodically earn a bonus and also a raise that will increase their hourly rate over time based on their performance.
Additional Notes
- Using a computer or laptop will allow your Sim to access career-specific interactions. These can be found via the Careers menu followed by the Law Career sub-menu.
- To complete the Work From Home Assignment for this career, your Sim will need to use an Electromagnetic Research Archive Machine. These can be found in the Student Commons or you can purchase one from Buy Mode.
- There are several new Create A Sim items that unlock during the career which can be found below.

History. I just completed this degree and am now a Judge.
is it just me or is there a mistake in the career? at adept attorney the work-at-home assignment is to file court documents and to research current case. The research is conducted at the research machine and I have no problem with that. But the option to file court documents does not appear in the sub-menu law career :(. I tried on several computers. His skills are up to date.

I think you need the casefiles that can be found in the homework category when buying books to do this, there is also a similar one for the professor career 🙂

I also have issues with the career – I am told to give a guest lecture at the university but the option isn’t available for me when I go to the campus of either uni. This guide says the interaction is specific to the judge career and I’m an attorney.

Use your phone it will have the option there, there are 2 options, guest speak at the university about law and visit university law class. So be careful which one you pick 😉

I am continuing to have the exact same issue with the career and CANNOT pick to visit a university law class from the phone. I am going to try and restart my game, but my sim has to go to work soon and I have a feeling it’s not going to be completed…

My sim just finished her distinguished degree in literature and linguistics and is only eligible for the level 1 Law career job…any thoughts? I’m pretty PO’d that I spent so much time getting her a 4.0 and didn’t manage to get anywhere.

I had to quit 4 times before it recognized my Sim’s degree.
I have the home assignment to “visit university law class” but I don’t get the option on the phone and when visiting the uni there is no option for a law class either. Any ideas?

I had my Sim hang out in the Commons with a bunch of uni student friends before clicking on one of the buildings was an option. Make sure you’re there during the week days and between 8a – 3p

I’ve spent lots of sim hours trying to get clients. It takes 3 before the task meter even gets to 25% and then it doesn’t ever get any better. This is the most buggy pack i’ve ever played.

Is there an easy way to get positive answer when you offered Legal Representation for a sim ? It’s really annoying for me. Almost everybody decline my offer.

Hi, my Sims became a private attorney and tried to marry her client – but couldn’t because the sims was “in her employ”. So she quit the profession, but he still appears as her client in the relationship tab… Is this a bug, or is there something specific to do to fix this?
