Hello Simmers, Honnahoops here with my top 10 mods to enhance your university experience!

Now, I’m not saying that The Sims 4: Discover University is awful, I actually like it a lot. However, I think there are a few things missing from the pack.

This started my search for a handful of mods to make the expansion pack more exciting. I honestly couldn’t believe how many amazing university themed mods are already available! A big thank you to our wonderful community of modders.

This post could have gone on forever, but I’ve picked my top 10 mods. I’ve explained briefly what the mods are, but to get a full overview, please head to the creators’ pages, everything is linked below.

1. Higher Tuition Fees

Zero’s Sims 4 Mods created the ‘University Costs More’ mod which changes the costing structure of electives and main classes. Now, both electives and main classes are more expensive, which is more realistic. You can also tune the mod to how much you’d like your Sims to pay.

2. Increased Scholarships

This mod goes hand in hand with the Higher Tuition Fees mod. ‘Higher Scholarships’ is another one by Zero’s Sims 4 Mods and it is what it says on the tin really, the amount your Sim will receive is greater, which is definitely more realistic.

3. No University Housing Restrictions

If you’re like me and you went to a British University, where you had access to a real kitchen, you’ll probably be as frustrated as I was when I found out you couldn’t put a kitchen in your university dorm building. Well, now you can!

Zerbu has created the ‘No University Housing Restrictions’ mod allowing you to cook to your heart’s content (Let’s hope the other students know how to cook).

4. Choose your Roommate

After day three of playing The Sims 4: Discover University I was sick of making over my randomly generated ‘roommates’, and wanted my Sim’s old school friends to join her in her dorm.

Modder, LittleMsSam has answered my prayers and created the ‘Choose Your Roommmate’ mod. This mod is a little bit complicated to set up in-game, but LittleMsSam has written some very detailed instructions on the mod page.

Look out for an in-depth review of this mod from my fellow Community Reporter, ourdazedsims!

5. More University Themed Aspirations

The Sims 4 Discover University: Mods to Enhance Your University Experience

Whilst playing Discover University, I found the single aspiration to be a little lack-lustre. Not every Sim attending university wants to be an academic.

Pimp My Sims has created a bumper pack of SEVEN university themed aspirations including Sporty Scholar, Campus Crook and Party School. These are a great addition to the game and I’ve really enjoyed playing about with them.

6. Rejected from University

The ‘Rejection Letter from University Possible’ mod by IlkaVelle allows for a sim’s university application to be rejected! Don’t worry though, your sim can always apply for university again.

I LOVE that this mod takes into account traits, school grades and skills when deciding whether a Sim will get university.

IlkaVelle has also added the ability to receive an actual rejection letter via the mailbox in the latest addition of this mod.

7. Required Degrees for Careers

Zero’s Sims 4 Mods has also created the mod ‘Required Degree for Careers’. This one really excites me as I’ve always wondered how Sims who have ABSOLUTELY no qualifications and have played chess three times can become a doctor.

The full rundown of which degrees are required for each career is listed here.

8. Harder Distinguished Degree Acceptance

Another one by Zero’s Sims 4 Mods, this time making it harder to be accepted into Distinguished Degrees.

I mean come on guys, dreams don’t work unless you do.

9. Student Cleaning Rotas

Ah, this one takes me back to when I tried to make a ‘cleaning rota’ in my university dorm – it lasted three days.

The ‘Chores’ mod by LittleMsSam, allows you to add cleaning schedules and assign Sims to cleaning tasks and times. To use the mod on the ‘Parenthood Bulletin Board’, The Sims 4: Parenthood will be required. However LittleMsSam has also made this available in an add-on to work with the Discover University notice board.

10. New Bikes, Choose your Helmet & Bike Recolours!

  • New Bikes

These new bikes are Sims 3 Conversions, converted by ‘Around the Sims 4’. There are three styles to choose from and they come in an array of colours.

  • Choose your Helmet

LittleMsSam is back again, this time with the ‘Choose your Helmet’ mod, allowing you to pick your helmet, or choose not to wear any helmet at all – remember though, safety first!

  • Bike Recolours

Neecxle, one of my favourite YouTubers, has created some bike recolours for the bike that comes with Discover University. There’s 15 recolours and 3 jazzy gradients to choose from.

BONUS MOD: Bug Fixes for University Sports

I didn’t actually realise this was a bug in the game until I came across this mod by Zerbu. Basically this fix enables Sims to gain fun from attending games at the stadium, allows children to be invited to games and also allows children to gain motor skill from the football.

Zerbu explains in more detail on his page, here.

Phew, so that’s the end of my Top 10 (technically 13) mods to enhance the Sims 4: Discover University! I hope you find this post useful and I hope you enjoy the mods I’ve picked out for you guys.
