Welcome to August’s The Sims Community Challenge!
Firstly, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part and got involved in our first ever The Sims Community Challenge last month. The team and I were blown away by how well it was received and how many people entered. You can check out the June & July showcase here.
Have you ever wondered what makes Mrs Crumplebottom seem so angry all the time? No matter what, she always seems to be ready for a fight. Maybe it’s her neighbour’s keeping her up all night, or she is fed up with things that have been going on in Henford-on-Bagley. However, what if there was another reason? What if Mrs Crumplebottom actually had a secret life and being angry all the time was just a cover-up?
For this month’s challenge, I’ve teamed up with fellow staff member Jazzy for this challenge, and we can’t wait to see your challenge entries! The theme for this month, is all about Mrs Agnes Crumplebottom’s secret life! Your challenge is to furnish Mrs Crumplebottom’s house and write a small backstory as to what her secret life is! You can keep it simple or make it as crazy and out of this world as you want. Just keep in mind that the shell you will be furnishing needs to reflect the backstory you create.
Did we mention we are also giving away a code for The Sims 4 Cottage Living on your chosen platform? All you have to do is take part in the challenge, and we will be selecting one entry from our top five as our overall challenge winner. Like last month, we will also be doing a showcase featuring some of our favourite entries too!
Example Entry
Backstory: You see her walking around town, carrying her infamous handbag, but always wondering why Mrs Crumplebottom always so angry. However, what you don’t know is that she is actually a very kind and caring person who spends her time at home caring for a variety of chickens, cows, llamas and other wildlife that come to visit and stay with her. When she isn’t tending to the animals needs, you will find her nestled away in a corner working on her next knitting or cross-stitch project.
Challenge Rules
- Create a fully furnished version of Challenge Shell. You are not allowed to edit the exterior walls from the original and it must be placed on a 30×20 lot.
- You may add one basement but no additional levels above ground.
- In The Gallery description, ensure you provide a backstory as to what Mrs Crumplebottom’s Secret Life is all about.
- You can use all packs EXCEPT for Cottage Living.
- No Custom Content.
- No T.O.O.L mod
- Unlimited Budget
- You can use the DEBUG items.
- One entry per person. Additional entries will not be included.
Downloading The Challenge Shell
You must use the shell that Jazzy has created for this challenge.
- Search JazzyRoseee on The Gallery
- Download the SC Shell Challenge lot.
Once you have completed your entry, upload it to The Gallery and include the hashtag #SCCrumplebottom so that we can find your creations.
Closing date for entries: Friday 27th August 2021 at 10am PST/6pm BST/ 7PM CET. The Spotlight post will be released a few days after entries have closed.

Random thought, but isn’t it a bit weird to giveaway the pack that the challenge is sort of based around, since Agnes only comes with cottage living? So people entering most likely already have cottage living?
Hence why the requirement states “You can use all packs EXCEPT for Cottage Living.”. The challenge is about giving players a playground to explore different backstories of Mrs. Crumplebottom that don’t have any tie-ins with Cottage Living.

I did this challenge and Do not have Cottage living, I am excited to say I came up with a secret life without trying to really figure out her secrets. I had fun building, decorating and coming up with my own version of why she is mad at the world. If I win then cool if not so what it was fun which it took me all day to figure out a back story and then design around it. but loved every minute of it
I don’t have cottage living and I did the challenge.
I enjoyed thinking about this challenge and definitely do not own cottage living so it made the challenge even more of one. I do not know what her secret it but came up with one of my own that you would not think an old lady would even entertain the thought of but hey if it was creative enough to win cottage living then yeah if not i still had fun doing the challenge. It took me awhile to come up with a secret life and then decorate her house around this secret… No not telling you will have to see if in the Gallery… I can be found under Hunnykitty77 that is my origin name. This was really a fun challenge. Thanks! Ended up spending most of the day decorating & building. Even downloaded an Agnes from the gallery to playtest the lot. You will find my entry under troshalom – lot name Cottage Dreams.
Agnes’ secret is that she is a bowling champion with a bowling alley tucked away in her cellar locked behind a door no one can access but Agnes. She also is a closet drinker and has a full bar with nectar and what not. But when anyone visits and ventures down to the cellar she just points to her cupcake maker, washer and dryer and dry goods shelves and tell folks, oh just electronic stuff for the cottage, nothing special behind that locked door.
I tried my hand at this challenge and well Agnes’ secret is that she holds raves, pool parties serving her own special fizzy juice, think back to the age of under ground bars… Why not and she hands out secret invites kind of like Fight club but this is rave bar no one talks about it…. the secret door is in her unassuming garden shed you look around outside and be like oh its just her garden shed. haha sorry if this seems obvious to others but how are winners/ showcased submissions contacted once the contest closes? Should we just keep an eye out for the spotlight post? Thanks! had lots of fun putting together this submission!
