A new year means a new roadmap to cover us to the end of the current financial year. However, it also means a new wave of exciting new content for players!
To kick start this new wave of content, The Sims and EA are releasing the much anticipated, community-voted stuff packs, Castle Estate and The Sims 4 Goth Galore. For this article, we’ll look at everything included in this new Create A Sim Kit!
Table of Contents
A Quick Recap
The Sims 4 Goth Galore is one of two Kits voted for by the community. The voting process for the themes of these kits was to vote between two different themes. One Kit would be focused on a building whereas the other is purely aimed at Create A Sim. In the case of this Kit, the community could vote between a Rainbow Fashion-inspired Kit or the Gothic fashion style. Of course, this is now known as The Sims 4 Goth Galore which was the winning Kit.

Earlier this week, amongst the official announcement of the two Kits, The Sims Team shared a preview of all the new Create A Sim assets that would be coming in the new Kit. From a variety of new clothing options to accessories, shoes and make-up, the Kit was already the talk of the community.

Goth Galore Kit Review
The long-awaited return of community-vote content for The Sims 4 is here!
Firstly, out of the two themes for the Create A Sim Kits, this was the one I voted for. Even though I loved the Rainbow Core theme, I felt at the time of the vote coming out, we were missing some fresh dark, grungey, gothic clothing options for our Sims. Naturally, we did have The Sims 4 Grunge Revival Kit released since the vote but something felt as though it was still missing.
Between the winning theme being revealed and the release, I remained optimistic that we would get a good variety of gothic-inspired clothing and accessories for our Sims. A Kit that would work well alongside existing additional content such as The Sims 4 Vampires, Werewolves, Grunge Revival and Spooky Stuff, to name a few Kits.
With the pre-release previews out, I have to be honest, I felt a little uncertain. Of course, you can only see one swatch from all the items and it can be difficult to get a real feel for the new items. Some of the previews felt too similar to some that we’ve seen in either the Base Game or other packs. It felt too familiar but I didn’t want to hold my overall thoughts about the Kit, just on these previews.
With The Sims 4 Goth Galore now out, I remained open as to what my overall thoughts on the Kit could be. At first glance, I was pleasantly surprised but I still needed to dive deeper into the Kit. The range of new Create A Sim options for a Kit is good. The number of swatches, while varying from each Create A Sim type was also promising. While yes, when you think of Goth, you think dark, spooky and mysterious but I love how the team also included some pastel swatches throughout the Kit for those who like a more Pastel Goth style.
For the most part, I am happy with the Kit and it will fit my playstyle and the way I create my Sims. The Sims 4 Goth Galore is definitely one to consider if you like the gothic fashion style or looking to expand your Sims fashion options.
However, I do feel that there is a small degree of the Kit that misses the mark for me personally but let me explain.
Fashion trends come and go and we are forever seeing ones make their way back to being popular. I feel that The Sims 4 Goth Galore is inspired more by the current/more recent Goth fashion style to a point but still includes many stand-out and memorable pieces at the same time.
While I love the theme of this Kit, there are some options that I feel are missing. Floor-length dark leather-look trenchcoats, goth fashion-inspired hair, more unique male clothing options and maybe even an option or two for either younger or elder Sims! Maybe this comes from being a longtime Simmer or my knowledge of goth fashion however, I wouldn’t let this stop either myself or anyone considering the Kit stop me.
The Sims 4 Goth Galore is a welcomed addition to the Create A Sim experience and overall for a Kit is pretty good and offers even more customization options for players.
Either way, it was never a phase!
