Not being able to scroll and select in Create A Sim is a new issue with the latest patch!
If you've been wondering why it's so difficult scrolling through the Create A Sim catalogue with the recent game patch on Consoles then you're not alone. The latest Sims 4 issue for Xbox and Playstation forbids the player to search through the items catalogue such as tops, bottoms within the "show all" section. The ability to scroll through the catalogue and select an item of your choice is gone!

Forum user 87458054 also verified that using specific subcategories such as Jackets or Tank Tops will resolve the issue. "Necklaces and hats but out a lot too" they've stated on the latest EA Forums thread, with several more comments on the thread:
After the newest update I can’t scroll down shirts or pants in the ‘show all’ section, but if I specify jackets or tank tops or any of the other ones it works. Necklaces and hats bug out a lot too but I managed to scroll eventually

I also can not scroll down the long hair, hats, jackets, boots, and Tank tops. I play on xbox next gen, getting a bit sick now of every time there being new update something else brakes it's becoming a bit of a joke.

Experiencing the same on PS5! I hoped for today’s update to patch up some of the technical issues, but now it’s even more unplayable. I’m so disappointed

It’s not gone just bugged I discovered a workaround for this and eyebrows you can click into another outfit category as well , place an item on your sim and go back to show all tops and it scrolls just fine, some of the menus take a minute but will eventually let you scroll like the hair and for eyebrows you have to go into the face category select one give it a minute to apply to your sim and then it lets you scroll through and select eyebrows no problem
AI quality assurance strikes again. Somehow, EA thinks a person opening the game and checking basic functions, like CAS, isn’t necessary.
Terrible timing for me to age up two sims who now need makeovers
Hoping this one gets resolved soon! Makes CAS borderline unusable.
I’ve noticed in build mode that my chosen items are often automatically duplicated and a lot of my items are misplaced in the search sections. Debug items are now reduced to just a few choices. Where have my build pieces gone?! Please find them, lol. Thank you.
Every time there is an update something goes wrong. I am sorry but it shouldn’t happen. Maybe EA should do better testing before doing updates.
Playing The Sims 4 on Xbox has been causing me a lot of stress and wasting so much time lately. I recently bought the “Businesses & Hobbies” pack, but after the latest update the game has been full of lag and freezing issues.
Since the latest update of The Sims, playing has stopped being a moment of fun and has become a constant source of frustration. Every screen freeze isn’t just a technical issue — it feels like all the time, effort, and expectation are being thrown away at once.
It’s exhausting to open the game already expecting something to go wrong. With every loading screen that never finishes, every bug that appears out of nowhere, a sense of wear and frustration builds up beyond the game itself. What used to be a space for escape, creativity, and control has turned into something unpredictable and irritating.
The worst part isn’t just the freezing — it’s the repetition. Having to restart, wait, and try again, only to see the same problem happen. It slowly drains your patience, turning something that should be light into something heavy.
In the end, what remains is a feeling of disappointment. Because it’s not just about a game that isn’t working properly… it’s about losing the desire to play something you genuinely enjoyed.
