Run, Walk, or Jog on Sims 4 Group Trails ANYWHERE With This New Mod!

Have your Sims' daily jogs through Oasis Springs seemed... lonely? Have you ever wished they had a way to have power walk or jogging outings with their friends or family? Well, your athletic Sims will no longer be alone thanks to Modder LunarBritney's new release; The Sims 4 Group Trails Anywhere Mod!

If you've played with some of the features from The Sims 4: Snowy Escape or The Sims 4: Growing Together, you may have noticed that group hiking or group power walks are a promoted feature that can be performed in these packs' respective worlds, Mt. Komorebi and San Sequoia, but cannot be performed anywhere else. This mod removes those restrictions, allowing your Sims to freely jog, power walk, hike, or just walk around with friends and family!

Although we will provide some simple guidance on mod installation and requirements, make sure to read through LunarBritney's mod post thoroughly to make yourself completely aware of any requirements, changes, or features implemented for this mod!

Requirements

The Sims 4: Snowy Escape and/or The Sims 4: Growing Together

Since the group walking and hiking features come from these two expansion packs, the mod requires one or both of them to function.

Lot 51 Core Library

Lot 51's Core Library is a REQUIRED mod for the installation of The Sims 4 Group Trails Anywhere Mod, but also for many other script mods. For players, this mod does not do anything without accompanying mods by Lot 51 and other creators. Per Lot 51's page:

Core Library is a dependency for many mods to add gameplay functionality without overriding each other. It helps reduce conflicts and the need for redundant scripts.

While we do recommend reading our Beginner Guide to Mods & CC for a more detailed overview of how to mod The Sims 4 and how those mods should be handled, a quick run down for adding LunarBritney's Sims 4 Group Trails Anywhere Mod to your Sims 4 game would be...

Using your operating system's file explorer, find the location of your Sims 4 Mods folder.

To add the items to your game on Windows, follow this folder path:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods
To add the items to your game on MacOS, follow this folder path:
Macintosh HD/Users/User/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods

Since the mods comes as a compressed zip file, you need to ensure that you have an extraction program installed. You can use 7Zip, Winrar, Winzip, etc., and both Windows and MacOS have an unzipping function native to their system. Right click on the zipped file and choose to Extract Here/Files or Extract to... to extract directly to a folder.

Since the Sims 4 Group Trails Anywhere Mod by LunarBritney includes both a .package file and a .ts4script file, it must not be placed more than a single folder deep in your mods folder. We would recommend separating the mod entirely on its own, or at least keeping it with other script mods. Also, the.ts4script file and .package file must be kept in the same folder.

You will need to do this for BOTH this mod and Lot51's Core Library for this mod to function.

As long as you have Custom Content/Mods AND Script Mods enabled in your Sims 4 Settings, that should be about it!

The Sims 4 Group Trails Anywhere Mod by LunarBritney

This mod expands on the functionality of the Group Trail features from The Sims 4 Snowy Escape and The Sims 4 Growing Together by allowing you to do them anywhere, rather than being forced to live in Mt. Komorebi or San Sequoia.

To start, gather a group of Sims together; They can be household members, or nearby Sims in the world that your Sim knows.

Next, click on the ground where you would like the group to gather. A new pie menu option will show up, titled "Group Walking...", which provides the four options for group walking outings; Walking Around, Hiking Around, Jogging Around, and Power Walking Around.

Once you select your group walking activity, a new menu will pop up with all available nearby Sims. Select your group, and go!

Your Sims will form a group and jog or walk around the neighborhood together, chatting as they go and keeping close together.

They will also take momentary breaks to turn around or chat as a group before continuing, usually a few times in a session.

Since the Sims 4 naturally has some pretty funky routing, the best way to avoid simulation lag while the Sims all try to gather is to use the "Go Here Together" function, a tip provided on the mod page by LunarBritney, to gather your group in the area where you want to begin the activity before initiating it.

It is also noted, and seen from my testing, that Sims won't always follow sidewalks and such and they may choose some weird routing or directional options; These are not unique to the mod, and are just quirks of how Sims 4's routing tends to work. Some base game and unmodded examples of this is the routing for Sims riding bicycles, going on jogs, or walking dogs.

Personally, this mod functioned really well! There were no strange issues or hiccups, and it was so exciting to have a small feature implemented that gives my Sims more routines with each other, more ways to bond, etc. It's a small change that makes a big impact!

And that's all folks! While this is a fairly small mod, it is a feature that players have been wanting since these group activities were introduced with their respective packs since jogging, hiking, walking, etc., with groups is really common in real life!
