Reminder that buying these still gives 70% of the money to EA and directly supports the killing of gay people and numerous other human rights abuses.

Lkay

Yes, and this is just a disgusting abuse from EA – they know the CC creators have been doing it as a hobby that might’ve expanded into a side hustle. However, all major platforms like AppStore or Google Store charge 30% fee. Ea chooses to charge 70% – how is this justified. This is atrocious abuse, and I hope the CC creators will either ditch it or join up and renegotiate the terms.

Fiadh

pathetic cash grab. hope no one gives in but i suspect ppl will

What was the point of kits? And then Creator Kits? Were kits not a Sims 3 store replacement? We have all of these ways to give Maxis money but we need Hot Fixes for Hot Fixes. We’re still missing fundamental gameplay items and gameplay features but sure, give us a store.

Mscrestlativity

The kits are being move to the marketplace. The creator kits are probably done ,replace market packs.

CrazySimmer

I like the sets wish they weren’t paywalled

That’s the entire point of this store: put cc behind a pay wall and let most of the money flow to EA.

Bugfixes

These creators are not very smart; their names will get buried in 6 months with the AI slop content that is going to flood the marketplace.

CrispySims

Not just anyone can upload to the marketplace. They have to apply and be accepted and then The Sims still has to check the content for approval before it can become available.

Shrek

EA has repeatedly said they plan on using AI for the sims. Considering how more and more CC creators are doing that themselves, it will come.

SomeoneElsa

That’s not the issue. The Hub will have genAI features to generate mods and CC in the near future, and you can bet EA won’t have any issues pushing that to the Marketplace.

Jessy

Is this still considered CC if you use it in a home and upload it.Thank you

I was asking myself the same question. Is this still cc? After all we are paying, mainly paying EA for this content. It’s a store but then with shady virtual currency. Will lots with these items be flagged as cc?

Jessy

I guess no one seems to know…if its cc I will not be getting it…

Finwickle

I’m sure it will still count as CC. Otherwise, people that download your house with this in it, would be getting it for free.

Jessy

very true, thank you

Bookwyrme

No. It won’t be considered cc at all. It will be the same as any other items from kits in the past. It is official Sims packs, just sold differently.

mitariki

Cc creators (Makers) officially making content for ea to sell. It’s official dlc, and I’m fairly sure the q&a says both that it will have its own checkbox as well as simply not be present if someone downloads something from the gallery with those items in it, just like for any other dlc.

yawn

i’m truly unsure how these creators can’t see how embarrassing it is to be associated with EA these days… not to mention they’re alienating existing paid patrons by offering exclusive content on another platform. yikes. going to do them more harm than good i can imagine.

SomeoneElsa

As these are glorified Creator Kits (same restrictions and guidelines, needs to use Maxis-stencils), these are rather different from many creators’ usual work. They also can’t do no-footprint objects (see seperated bedframe and bedding), tuning changes, any scripting
etc. It’s also content that console players can waste their money on soon enough, so many will not care too much so long they are getting their usual monthly Patreon content still.

scxtty

…. no one asked for this. talk about the opposite of reading the room

Bibi

Handy list of creators to boycott and stop supporting on patreon. Nice.

mitariki

Oh, that’s a good point. And Simandy as a new suggestion!

Ren

Simandy recently pulled out of the marketplace because EA didn’t explicitly explain to them what they were participating in! So they weren’t aware they were creating content for the marketplace, therefore Simandy is still good to support especially since they took an explicit stand against it. :3

Dani

This is just another version of the Sims 3 store and that’s why it sucks. I honestly can’t believe some of the names involved in this cash grab, especially when you’re paying them a pittance. My support will switch to those with enough integrity to avoid this nonsense

Zophorax

Those prices are exuberant!

The pricing should be similar to Kits, like around 20 cents per item on average.

SomeoneElsa

The prices are silly because creators only get 30% of sales, so they hike up the price to make it worth making. Sixam’s $10 set for example gets him $3 per sale, which is just a bit under his revenue per subscriber from the lowest early access tier from his Patreon.

Fairy Enjoyer

Sounds like his issue. Not the consumer. That’s just had business on the free market. Especially when everyone is already accusing these items being AI…..like no one is gonna shell out that $10

Lasquisha Meeks

Those sets are way too ugly to be even paid content

SomeoneElsa

Because these are essentially Creator Kits sold in a new way, they have to use Maxis-provided stencils for anything made for the Marketplace.

Nikki

I read that when a creator leaves the program, their content disappears (unless you’ve already purchased it, of course). Does anyone know if any of the current kits are currently available from a creator who’s no longer in the program? I’d like to buy it quickly before it disappears after the move to the marketplace. Thanks!

Noah

There’s the kit by lilsimsie who left EA creator and designed the “Comfy gamer” kit, still on sale until March 17th, after which it will disappear.

Marty

These prices are honestly a joke, and not the funny kind. Sims 3 store 2.0.

With Kits, you get between 20 to 30 items for $4.99. I think that should be the pricing rate for Maker Packs, as well

Debs

My problem with this type of content is very simple: it’s a rabbit hole. So if I start buying something “just to try”, then I lose my self control and spend hundreds of $$ on digital assets. Especially because buying the biggest bundle reduces the cost per item, and if I have it ready in my wallet it will be so easy to cave in. Which is exactly what EA wants.

Andie

Can someone explain this in much simpler terms?

Wenelda

Yeah, don’t buy into it.

Ren

EA takes your money by making something that’s already free into exclusive paid content :3 And creators who create content for this while knowing what it’s for don’t care about their fanbase

Cátia

Absolutely ridiculous. When you thought they couldn’t get more money hungry they come and surprise us once again.
30% cut for the artists? It’s honestly insulting

Suzanne

Very disappointed with some of the names on that list. I’d rather they paywalled their content and I bought it directly from them. Imagine only getting 30% for your own work and losing a chunk of your loyal followers in the process.

kat

This is sick. EA, you truthfully couldn’t sink any lower. And only giving your artists 30%? Any custom content creator that decides to do this is a sell out and I hope EA does you dirty (they already are because you’re only getting 30%) because it’s what you deserve for teaming up with slop.

Jess

I just wish they’d do a whole one with hairstyles
