GrimSuruDoi, one of the developers working on The Sims 4 has sent other simmers out on a scavanger hunt to search for hidden images that have been uploaded on the internet. The scavanger hunt consists of few tweets with each tweet bringing a certain clue that altogether forms a link to an image that showcases the upcoming Terrain Tool Feature for The Sims 4 in action!
ok SO
you know how I’m like I never tweet hints and stop looking for things in my tweets and I’m just trying to live my best life, etc.
WELL, the next 5 tweets I send out this afternoon *will* be a series of puzzles meant to be solved that do hint at some Sims stuff
Today’s Maxis Monthly live stream shared some awesome new features and details about the franchise and one new feature that is coming soon to The Sims 4 is the brand new Style Influencer career.
What do we know about the Style Influencer career?
It will be coming to us in the next patch and will be available to everyone. There is no need to have a specific pack to be able to access the career.
There are assignments your Sims can undertake to help them progress through the career as well as completing daily tasks.
The new career will help utilize the Create A Sim aspect of the game.
The starting point in the career is ultimately a freelance journalist but you are known as a Rag Reviewer.
The higher the level you are in the career path the more the Creativity side of your Sims will play a part in the Style Influencer career. This is where the painting and photography skills will come in handy.
But that’s not all!
You can discuss outfits with other Sims.
You can interview other Sims.
Style Influencer is a work from home career too!
Your Sims writing skill will improve helping them to create better articles.
There are two new signature items with the new career. One is the brand new Sketch Pad the other was not revealed on the stream.
The sketch pad is a portable digital easel and can be dropped straight into your Sims inventory.
There are multiple branches to the career.
We’re nearly there but there is still more!
The sketch pad can be upgraded with one upgrade that was mentioned would allow your Sims to create paintings faster.
There are new interactions where you can discuss fashion with another Sim and even ask a Sim to model a particular look. You can even offer to give a Sim a makeover. This may be a specific interaction for the “stylist” branch of the career. Beware! The Sim you ask may decline but the better your relationship with them the better chance you have of them allowing your Sim to do the make-over.
Makeovers will even work for Non-Playable Sims also.
Your Sim can set and create trends that other Sims may follow in.
Let us know what you think of the brand new and exciting Style Influencer Career and if you can’t wait to get your Sim started on their path to becoming the most famous Style Influencer in The Sims!
Down below you can check out all the screenshots that showcase new interactions / features / animations, as well as the full Stylist Influencer portion from the stream:
Maxis Monthly has brought a ton of new surprises but it ended off on a really curious note.
As SimGuruKate was signing off the livestream she mentioned that there’s going to be a livestream on October 11th to showcase more of what we’ve already seen today on Maxis Monthly. However, there was another interesting thing that Kate has mentioned and we’re going to fully quote her statement:
If you liked what you saw here and you wanna see more of it we’re gonna be hosting a special livestream on October 11th at 11AM so we hope you’ll join us. We’re gonna dive a little bit more on some of the content that you’ve seen here.
And, you know, Dave, I think you might wanna book a little time on your calendar for early next week to make sure you check out our social channels. It’s less than a week away…
In case you don’t know, The Sims Team usually likes to use their social channels such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to promote upcoming new content. Considering that SimGuruKate has already covered the free content out of the way by mentioning a livestream that’s happening on October 11th, could there be something entirely else happening?
The first Maxis Monthly has just wrapped up and there was a lot of new and exciting things showcased during the live stream. One in particular which caught many Simmers by surprise was when SimGuruRomeo came on stream and swapped seats with Geoff. What we didn’t realize initially was that he was going to show us the early version of the brand new terrain tools that many of us have asked to be added to the game for a while. Of course, this new addition to the game will help both builders and storytellers.
So what do we know so far about the new terrain tools?
The new feature can be found in the same section in build mode where you find the terrain paints currently.
You can raise terrain, flatten terrain, smooth terrain and more just like you have been able to do in previous The Sims games.
Foundations will now adjust to each individual room instead of having one foundation for all of the rooms.
Terrain tools open up a whole new side to building in The Sims 4 with endless possibilities as to how the tools can be used to create builds.
You can check out these tools in full motion in the clip below:
Are you excited for the new terrain tools feature or have any ideas on what kind of build you will make first using the new terrain tools when they are released then let us know in the comments!
The Sims Team have given us a first look at Terrain Tools coming to The Sims 4 in their latest Maxis Monthly livestream. Although they haven’t mentioned anything about terrain manipulation SimGuruRomeo has shown a lot of what this tool can do in the game.
If you want to go more into details with each important frame I’ve extracted over 60 screens from the stream that you can check out below!
SimGuruKate has confirmed during the Maxis Monthly livestream that The Sims 4’s free Content Update that was planned for October (bringing a new Stylist Influencer Career and possibly the Terrain Tool along with it) has been postponed.
She hasn’t specifically said why but she did confirm that the team had to polish some things and make sure that the content update they’re bringing works best for everyone.
For those who didn’t tune into the live stream, today we shared that unfortunately there will no longer be an October patch. We needed a little extra time to really polish things up for everyone to enjoy. Sometimes things in Game Development need to shift just a little.
The Sims Team has sneakily showcased Terrain Manipulation in their Maxis Monthly Livestream. Terrain Tools is something that people have been wanting ever since the release of The Sims 4 Base Game and soon simmers will be able to enjoy everything this tool has to offer – FOR FREE!
We’re currently preparing a detailed post of everything that’s been shown in the video. Until then, check out everything that was showcased about Terrain Tools that we’ve captured from Maxis Monthly:

The Sims Team will be doing a very special livestream on October 2nd, 2018 at 8PM CET / 7PM BT / 11AM PDT where they’ll be talking with the producers and tease some upcoming content for The Sims 4 AND The Sims Mobile as well as feature The Sims FreePlay during the stream.
Considering that Quarterly Teasers are no longer active and have been replaced with Maxis Monthly this livestream is something you definitely don’t want to miss out as it could tease content for the next few months, just like Quarterly Teasers did.
We know that time zones are very tricky and as this livestream is important we’ve added a countdown down below that counts exactly to the moment when The Sims Team goes live with Maxis Monthly.
We’re also going to report on every important detail that’s shown, mentioned and/or teased during the stream so stay tuned on our website!
Want to watch the developers themselves playing the game they’ve created?

People have been asking for a while if The Sims 4 for Consoles is capable of supporting a mouse and a keyboard for playing the game instead of using Xbox One’s / PS4’s controllers. A keyboard and a mouse would allow console simmers to have an exact PC experience considering that The Sims 4 on Console already has a cursor that’s used for navigation and selection.
With Microsoft’s announcement that Xbox One will be receiving a Keyboard + Mouse support for their console SimGuruLegacy went on Twitter to confirm that The Sims Team is working on bringing support for Keyboard + Mouse for both PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
OK, I couldn’t contain it any longer… As you might have guessed, we are working on bringing Mouse & Keyboard support to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of The Sims 4.
And don’t worry if you prefer controllers. Controllers aren’t going anywhere and we will continue to make improvements and adjustments based on your feedback and ongoing internal review.
Although this feature is currently in development SimGuruLegacy stated that it’s not coming with The Sims 4 Console’s next update.
It won't be in the next update, it is a big feature that we have been working on and need to get it right and account for all of the things unique to consoles.
Do you have a household or a lot with an already told story that you want to show to the simming community? Join us in an hour as we showcase Households and Lots in The Sims 4’s Gallery that have a rich / interesting backstory or a description that already tells an intriguing tale about the creation.
You can suggest your creations by writing your Origin IDs in the live chat. I’ll be going through plenty of libraries looking for creations to have them featured on the stream and on our upcoming article.
