The Sims 4 Parenthood Object Descriptions are hilarious! (and full of possible hints)

We know that The Sims Team likes to play with object descriptions every now and then, and there are no exceptions in The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack.

The most hilarious ones that @AndrewArcade pointed out are the ones that you can found in the debug mode of build mode. (simply enter the testingcheats true and then bb.showhiddenobjects cheats). These are basically invisible objects that only appear when your toddler / child decides to make a mess on the floor. Looks like The Sims Team decided to add those effects in build mode and write some hilarious object names and descriptions for them:

But that’s not all! It looks like The Sims Team, beside adding a paw symbol to a new Parenthood jacket, has started to tease The Sims 4 Pets more freely. Is the first object possibly hinting at the veterinary career?

You can find more object descriptions in our Parenthood Build Items Overview!

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases

In The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack, Children and Teenagers go through specific phases that act out as temporary traits. They are random and happen at nonspecific points of their lives. Here are all the phases your child and teen can go through:

Phases

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen PhasesPicky Eater (Child Phase) – It’s good to be a Picky Eater. Keep all those nasty culinary concoctions away from the Sim. They will prefer to eat their favorite Quick Meal.

The Picky Eater phase is probably the most complex one, as there are 6 different versions of this phase – each having different sets of recipes that’ll make your child sim sad. It’s unclear exactly which recipes will your sim dislike but know that they’ll definitely avoid any type of complex dishes that you’re able to prepare at high cooking skill levels. Keep it simple by preparing spaghetti or pancakes for your child sim to avoid any disturbance.

Your caregiver can ask about eating habits and encourage them to eat food.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases Distant (Teen Phase) – This teen has become distant. Being near and interacting with family has started to stress them out. The world just doesn’t understand them.

With this trait your teen sims will feel tense around their family members. It’ll be for the best if you keep your sim in his / her room during this phase.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen PhasesLoud (Child Phase) – This Sim is letting the world hear her / his voice! This Sim yells, makes noise on instruments, and will listen to music as loud as possible. Earplugs are advised for other family members.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases Mean Streak (Teen Phase) – It is time to be Mean just because. This Sim is feeling nasty and will relish the chance to be Mean to other Sims.

Teen Sims with this phase trait will generally feel happier when being mean to other Sims.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases Rebellious (Teen Phase) – Growing up means rebelling against the old fuddy duddy’s rules. This Sim will argue with their parents more often, swear, and procrastinate when doing homework.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases I’m a Bear! (Child Phase) – Be the Bear! This child will accept nothing less than dressing as an amazing fruit-themed ruler of the forest. It will feel unbearable to wear any other outfits.

Your child sim will want to switch up their clothes for a bear costume – otherwise they’ll get a +2 sad buff.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases Clingy (Child Phase) – This Sim feels safest when interacting with their caregiver. There is no reason to interact with otherse when you have such an amazing person in your life. Forcing this Sim to interact with others will stress them out.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: Child / Teen Phases

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits

The Sims 4 Parenthood comes with 11 new traits, most of which you can earn through character values as a Toddler / Child / Teen. Here are all the new traits and what they offer:

Traits

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits Argumentative (From Having Negative Conflict Resolution) – Argumentative Sims don’t always start conversations on the right foot with Sims they don’t like. Successfully apologizing is harder and they do try to assert their correctness more often than not.

Socializing is kinda a challenge with this trait and you might not be off to a good start when making a new relationship with a Sim you’ve just met.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits Bad Manners (From Having Negative Manners) – Sims with Bad Manners can try to be Friendly, but will always fail using certain socials. They will often use gross manners, swear a lot, and never want to do the dishes.

Sims with Bad Manners are somehow similar to Sims with the Argumentative trait, except you’ll get funnier results with the Bad Manners trait. Also, you may just want to skip doing the dishes and drag them into the dishwasher / sink yourself.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits Compassionate (From Having Positive Empathy) – Compassionate Sims can help other Sims relieve their negative emotions. They can also empathize with them by Sharing Emotional Burdens. However, these Sims get stressed when being Mean.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New TraitsEmotional Control (From Having Positive Emotional Control) – Sims who have the Emotional Control Trait can relieve negative moods by jogging, listening to certain music, blogging on the computer, or playing an instrument. In general, their negative emotions will go away faster than other Sims.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits Good Manners  (From Having Positive Manners) – Sims with Good Manners won’t want to do any gross manners interactions, at least not in front of anyone. They also have a new Polite Introduction and can gain friendly relationships faster. Good Mannered Sims can also Offer Gratitude to the Host of a house they are visiting.

This trait is perfect for leaving good first impressions, plus it’ll leave your sim in a very happy mood for performing well mannered interactions.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits Irresponsible (From Having Negative Responsibility) – Irresponsible Sims are uncomfortable at work, but ignoring bills and slacking off brings them joy. They may also encounter new situations when at work.

You’ll encounter hilarious new career chance cards with this trait, but most of them will result in performance loss.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits Mediator (From Having Positive Conflict Resolution) – Mediator Sims have a higher chance at successfully apologizing to other Sims and can Mediate the Forums. They can also mend differences with Sims they have not been friendly with for a long time.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits Responsible (From Having Positive Responsibility) – Responsible Sims perform better at their jobs and can teach children and teens how to be responsible.

Teaching sims about responsibility will give huge responsibility character value points to your child / teen sim.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits Uncontrolled Emotions (From Having Negative Emotional Control) – Sims with Uncontrolled Emotions won’t be able to relieve their negative emotions as fast as other Sims. When they have strong negative emotions, they may have an emotional meltdown.

Watch out, with the uncontrolled emotions trait your Sims are more prone to dying from emotional deaths such as death by anger or death by embarrasement.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits Insensitive (From Having Negative Empathy) – Insensitive Sims are able to Question other Sims’ negative emotions. They can also instigate other Sims. Insensitive Sims will have a higher chance of failing socially when talking to Sims with bad emotions.

The Sims 4 Parenthood: New Traits Role Model (From Completing the Super Parent Aspiration) – Gives bonus Character Value scoring when near Toddlers, Children, or Teens.

No, this is definitely not a Pets Hint…

So you may remember back in July when The Sims Team released The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff and it featured this tank top with first 2 swatches having a city themed pattern…If not, here’s a picture:

No, this is definitely not a Pets Hint…

..and just like that, 2 months after, The Sims 4 City Living was announced.

Now, The Sims Team has added a jacket in The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack that for some reason wasn’t shown in any advertising material until its release. Notice that paw?

No, this is definitely not a Pets Hint…

Which paw? This paw:

No, this is definitely not a Pets Hint…

Okay, the paw was too obvious and maybe didn’t need to be pointed out, but you get it. Why would The Sims Team add a cat / dog paw stitched onto a jacket?

Whatever it is, it’s definitely not a hint for the Pets Pack that’s been leaking for the last 5 months…

There’s a cute easter egg in The Sims 4 that no one noticed (until now)

Reddit user TheAlexer pointed out  this cute little easter egg that apparently wasn’t there in The Sims 4 until recently – ok so some simmers are reporting that this was present in the game for quite some time but it’s still an interesting easter egg that not many have noticed (including me).

The easter egg is the ability to change the shape of the puddle in build mode into a duck. Now, you can’t change just any puddle into a duck – you can only change the biggest puddle there is in the game into a duck puddle.

The easiest way to make a puddle is to break a sink and wait a few Sim hours until the puddle grows really big:

There’s a cute easter egg in The Sims 4 that no one noticed (until now)

After it’s fully grown, go into Build Mode and select the Design Tool. You’ll notice that you can change shapes of a puddle:

Select the 4th design option and voila – you have a duck puddle!

The Sims Blog: Become a Super Parent with New Parenting Skill!

2

Via TheSims.com!

Hello again! We’re back for another family meeting. We’ve already discussed Character Values, which are the reason your Sims will now care about how their children are raised. Character Values will convey permanent Traits to your Sims, which means they might be upstanding citizens, or the town miscreants, or…something in between.

However, it isn’t sufficient to tell you about the final destination. The journey itself is important, which is why today we’re telling you all about those actual parenting moments. These are the minute-to-minute choices and decisions your Sims will have to make with permanent consequences.

The Sims Blog: Become a Super Parent with New Parenting Skill!

Many of the behaviors your Sims have always performed are now tied fully into the Character Values system. This means children who get into fights, burp, or complete their homework will be rewarded accordingly. However, you don’t get excited about Game Packs to see gassy complications, which is why we’ve also filled it with new content!

Sims of all ages can now throw tantrums and have absolute emotional meltdowns. Teens have dramatic mood swings, and trust us, you’ll see it when it happens. Siblings will pick on each other with a variety of new socials, including the rather feral new Bite interaction from Toddlers. And be sure to keep an eye out for young children, as they may throw paint all over the ground.

It’s not all bad, though! Families can hug it out; children can be sent to time out; and families can volunteer together to do some public good and right their wrongs. A young child can set the table before dinner, leading to a perfectly family dinner, and parents can send their children off to school with a lovingly packed sack lunch. When the teens aren’t listening, you can also set curfew and hope they obey.

The Parenting Skill is powerful and as Sims level up their Skills they’re granted powerful new interactions. Parents can go from nobodies to super moms and dads, and it’s quite something to see. Sims build their Parenting Skill by disciplining their children, primarily. As they level up, they can give parenting tips to others, help solve negative emotional Moodlets and Need Moodlets on their children, and even gain the ability to influence their children to change their behavior.

There’s some powerful stuff here! It’s a full tool set for your Sims to explore their parenting ninjitsu as they groom and mold their offspring. But, don’t take our word for it. Try out The Sims™ 4 Parenthood when it launches worldwide for PC and Mac via Origin on May 30, 2017.

How will your Sims raise their children? Which new behaviors excite you the most? Tell us in the forums or on social media! Be sure to check out our latest trailer highlighting game play features.

The Sims 4 Pets: Animator lists “Quadrupeds” under accomplishments

Dennis Lai, one of the animators who works for The Sims Team has listed some of his accomplishments for The Sims 4:

Experience with quadrupeds, toddlers and human character animations.

The Sims 4 Pets: Animator lists “Quadrupeds” under accomplishments

Quadrupeds are basically 4-legged animals, which means that he was involved in the development of the upcoming Pets pack for The Sims 4. It’s also interesting to point out that he started working in August 2016, which could mean that animations for TS4 Pets have started with development in summer.

The Sims 4: New Update Overview! (May 25th, 2017)

9

The Sims Team released a new update for The Sims 4 with some huge changes to the load / save menu and some minor new additions. Let’s get into it!

Load / Save Menu

The load / save menu has been completely redesigned with some new functions! You can finally see thumbnail previews of the last household you played in that saved game.

Please note that saved games created before the new update need to be saved again in order for thumbnails to appear.

The Sims 4: New Update Overview! (May 25th, 2017)

You can also rename saved games and copy the save file path to the clipboard which is pretty useful.

But, the biggest change is the new “recover save” feature, which lets you revert your save game to previous save game points. The recovered save game will create a new game while the saved game that you used to recover will remain untouched.
