Tired Of The Marketplace? This New Sims 4 Marketplace Removal Tool Is Here To Help

The mod cleans up your game by hiding all features relating to the Marketplace.

The Sims 4 Marketplace launched less than a week ago and players are already tired of it. Thankfully, The Sims 4 Marketplace Removal Tool by Just_Joe_ is giving players a way to play a Marketplace-free game. We recently covered an update to the Refreshed Main Menu mod which cleans up the game and hides Moola, but this mod is goes one step further and is focused on completely removing the entire Marketplace UI from your game.

The response to the Marketplace has been mixed. Although there has been a positive response to some of the new content, the introduction of microtransactions and digital currency has left a lot of players annoyed, feeling as if they are being pressured by the game into purchasing content through the Marketplace. This is where the Marketplace Removal Tool comes in – the mod hides anything related to the Marketplace, allowing you to play without constantly being reminded of your balance or the content you could be buying.

No more Marketplace

Screenshot 2026 03 20 143023
The current Main Menu layout.

Currently, when you open up The Sims 4, the Marketplace is a major focus of the main menu, with your Moola balance showing in the top right corner. The Marketplace Removal Tool strips all of this, restoring the previous menu and letting players load their games without having digital currency and microtransactions shoved in their faces.

“No coins, no shop, no button, just gone” the mod’s creator Joe said in a TikTok. With the mod installed, the main menu is now free from adverts, the Moola wallet and the Marketplace tab on the main menu. Additionally, the shopping cart icon is also removed in-game.

Screenshot 2026 03 20 154704
The main menu with the Marketplace Removal Tool installed.

In the post mentioned above, Joe also explained his reasoning for making the mod, citing a few key motivations. Reflecting on the polarised audience response to the Marketplace, he explains that “instead of just talking about it again, [he] decided to try and do something different”, asking why, instead of complaining or arguing, we don’t just choose to get rid of the Marketplace if we don’t want it.

@justjoeshow I beat the Sims 4 marketplace, by myself. Now you can beat it too. #sims4 #sims4cc #ts4 #thesims #simsmarketplace #sims4cc #gaming #sims4mod #streamer #3dartwork #3dart ♬ original sound – Just_Joe_ | Streamer

Another reason for the mod was his own curiosity. “If you take away everything that the Marketplace put in, does it feel any different?” he asks, before answering that, for him personally, playing without the Marketplace feels “quieter, cleaner, and like you’re just playing the game instead of being sold something.”

How to download the mod

The Marketplace Removal Tool is available to download for free on Patreon.
To install, make sure you have mods enabled in settings, and then simply download the package file attached to the Patreon post. Once the file has been downloaded, you can place it in your Mods folder. If you are unfamiliar with installing mods, this folder can be found under Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4. When the mod is correctly installed, it will show up in your mods list, as shown in the screenshot below.

Screenshot 2026 03 20 162115

Please note that, at the time of publishing, this mod may cause conflict with other mods that remove elements of the UI, such as SimMattically’s Refreshed Main Menu and Remove the Cart Button mods. Joe stated on Patreon that a patch to fix these compatibility issues may be possible in the future.

While paid DLC is in no way a new thing for The Sims 4, the Marketplace feels different – more corporate – due to the fact the content is being advertised during gameplay, rather than just in the game’s store. With The Marketplace Removal Tool, players can enjoy the game again without feeling pressure from the repeated reminders of the content that they ‘should’ be buying.

Galet set

This simple living room cc set came about while they were making their spa custom content, and adds intriguing shapes and textures to everyday items.

This pack contains an armchair, loveseat and sofa with 8 swatches, a coffee table, decorative blankets and pillows, plants, a rug, paintings, and a moving mobile.

Bubble Set

This set of 28 new living room cc items is inspired by the iconic Bubble sofa from Roche Bobois, a famous French furniture company. Its playful pop-art décor is perfect for a fun-loving household.

This set includes a sofa, loveseat, armchair, sectional shelving/TV stand, a small retro TV, plants, wall art, ceiling lights for each wall height, lamps, and even new windows.

Contemporary Haven

Stylish living room items are an absolute must, and this living room cc set oozes luxury loft vibes with its leather seating, contemporary art, and simple colour palette.

This set includes 15 new items, including a new sofa, a living chair, a speaker, a rug, an end table, a console table, wall and floor art, large and small coffee tables, and a new lamp. It also includes a new concrete-look wallpaper.

Maybe Later

This is a cc set designed to capture the charm of imperfectly perfect, everyday living. Following my messy era, this collection focuses on realistic, in-motion details.

The furniture is cheap, worn, and basic, while the clutter tells stories—a scattering of books or papers that double as makeshift tables, tangled cables on the floor, and stylish headphones left lying around… You’ll also find two laptops: one functioning as a regular computer and the other as a TV for those late-night Simflix sessions.

Love Is In The Air

With its comfy sofas, wall photos, and realistic clutter – like jeans and shirts thrown on the couch, as well as socks on the floor – it’s easy to picture this set in the living room of a young adult who has just moved out of the family home.

In addition to the sofas and clothing clutter, this collection includes wall art, a coat rack, a fridge, a functional vinyl player, and a screen projector TV.

Our Thoughts

This maker kit is on par with the quality we have come to expect from Syboulette and has items which would fit many different build styles. All items have matching swatch colours so you can make a cohesive build with ease.

Four of The Sims 4 Makers Share Statements About The Marketplace

Plus, learn about the future of the Makers’ future releases on Patreon!

The release of The Sims 4 Marketplace has been met with quite the controversy. Not so much on the creators’ hand but on EA for launching a new Virtual Currency system through the already well-established Custom Content ecosystem.

Certain players don’t know what to think about the already set rules from EA about putting Custom Content behind a permanent paywall. Sure, the custom Sets on The Marketplace are branded as “Maker Packs”, but that doesn’t change the fact that this new ecosystem isn’t anything new at all. On top of that, the 70% cut of comission that goes directly to EA seemed like a worse way to support creators who already have a well established platform and following through networks like Patreon. Where creators only give 5 to 12 percent of commission fee to the platform.

As shared in the already existing official Q&A session with EA Community Managers, The Makers for The Marketplace are allowed to continue creating content outside their own official platform. Which four of the Makers further confirmed and elaborated in their seperate statements on Patreon:

SerenityCC Response

Creator of The Sims 4 Elevated Essentials CAS Maker Set SerenityCC shared a statement about their release on The Marketplace this Monday. Confirming that their sets will continue to release as per usual on Patreon – reaffirming it as their main platform. The Marketplace is “simply something occasional and additional”

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to share that I’m one of the creators participating in the new marketplace launching tomorrow.

Just to avoid any misunderstandings, I want to assure you that nothing about my current content or release schedule will change; patreon will continue to be my main platform and as usual, my content will continue to become free for everyone after 3 weeks.

The marketplace will simply be something occasional and additional, not a replacement.

I understand that not everyone agrees with how the marketplace was set up, and that’s completely valid. I just kindly ask that we keep things respectful.

Thank you so much for all your support. 💚

Statement from Syboulette

Creator of The Sims 4 Snazzy Living Room Maker Set and the Sleek Bathroom Kit Syboulette shared a statement on their Patreon on March 6th. Sharing that this will be just another easy way of bringing their content to the console and a “way for new people to discover their work”. Also asking the community to ease on the pressure on direct messaging them with passive and aggressive tone. Reminding players to keep it respectful.

Dear simmers,

I want to clarify that I’m keeping my patreon and that I never intended to stop creating free cc. The marketplace is an opportunity to make more Creator Kits like Sleek Bathroom, but it will be occasional kits mostly for console players, simmers who don’t want to bother with cc or a way for new people to discover my work. Nothing will change for users who do not want to spend money on EA and I’m not asking you to.

I was expecting some negative feedbacks when I accepted this program, but never that kind of backlash. I received a lot of pressuring DM with angst and passive agressive comments so I’m please asking you to remain respectful and remember that we are people too.

I’m open to answer questions on my Discord as long as it stays polite 🙂

Thank you for your understanding and have a nice day 🌞

Statement from ValiaSims

The Sims 4 Maker ValiaSims, who released the Reader’s Nook Maker Set on The Marketplace shared a new statement on their Patreon yesterday. Sharing their emotions following the marketplace announcement, current plan of action and future Sets development.

Hey everyone!

It feels a lifetime ago but in reality it was last week when I last checked in. After the marketplace announcement I felt really down and had very little motivation to be online and be active here or on Tumblr. I took the entire week off and haven’t touched Blender at all. I only did some research on how to do the custom books.

Then a started working on the next part which will be the last Quiet Corner set, focusing on a lounge area. I managed to finish a sofa set which I hope will work for living rooms too.

And now, after the official launch of the marketplace I’m in the same place again. Feeling guilty, sad and lacking passion. I feel overwhelmed and tired. I understand the negative feedback but I can’t change the past. I want to talk to you all but at the same time I feel really small and afraid to open up. I’m sorry if I caused any negative feelings with my actions, I didn’t mean to.

I don’t want to loose the connection we have, I like to talk about my thoughts while creating a collection and have your feedback that shapes the end result. I’m trying to be present and answer to everybody but it’s hard because on top of the current situation I am extremely introverted. If you decide to leave my community, I understand your desicion and accept it. If you’re staying, I am really grateful and thank you!

I’m trying to focus on creating the next part of Quiet Corner and honestly, I really look forward to start something else after it because in a way these negative feelings got connected with this collection and I don’t feel the same love for it as before.

Lastly, if you had problems with my CC not showing up after the latest update there should be a hotfix for it now. They messed up something so the game didn’t read all package files in the mods folder but today it got fixed. But I still suggest don’t update your game if you use mods or CC just to be sure.

Statement from PieriSim

Creator of The Sims 4 Refined Living Room Kit and the Soft Lines Living Marketplace Set PieriSim shared a new statement on their Patreon two days ago. Revealing the same intentions of branching out their content to Console players, plans of keeping things “main” on Patreon and future Collection plans.

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share with you a quick statement about the marketplace thing I’m also sharing content on.

This won’t interfere with my Patreon release, as I will continue to do my best to deliver a set per month (even if I’m still late due to side things on my hands). I really love creating cc this way, I’m very thankful for your support through more than 5 years now. This is like my baby and I don’t want to let it go or change the way it works. It will still be free after a month or so like it used to be. 🙂

On the marketplace side, I know it’s really controversial and I totally get it, but that’s nice to bring « cc » to console players too who were lacking this part of the Sims universe. That was also nice to be part of the game itself again by adding my content into an official way as a fan of the game since my childhood.

Unfortunately for legal reasons, we’re not able to share content from the marketplace here, and content from here to the marketplace. I will release content on the marketplace from time to time, but as mentioned before it won’t replace what I’m creating here. I really like the freedom of creation I can achieve here and being able to give you as close as possible what I have in mind for a cc set.

I guess a lot of you already guessed that things won’t change, but that was important to make it official for you. As long as I can, you can expect to find me here every month!

Thank you for everything, and I can’t wait to share with the new collection I’ve started working on! 💚

In case you missed out on the news, Pierisim’s Soft Lines Living Set received a surprising price cut yesterday. Changing the price of the Set from 400 to 300 Moola, revealing the possibility of changing Set prices after they’ve been released to the public.

Statement from Hydra

We’ve got a fifth statement just recently! Maker of the Home Sweet Home Pack Hydra shared the following statement on their Patreon account yesterday:

Hii! Yesterday was the release of the marketplace and I’m one of the Makers. I know this is all controversial, but I can’t ignore that on a deeply personal note this is a huge moment for me, I have loved and played The Sims since I was five and collaborating with the official team is a dream come true. Besides that, I’ve been seeing some backlash about my pack and that honestly hurts, but either way, I know I’m not a pro and my cc is not everyone’s cup of tea (all cutesy and pink😅) and people expect maxis match all the way but well anyways… I hope ya’ll like my maker pack as much as I did! (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

And to my patrons: Absolutely nothing changes here. This partnership is just an extra avenue for me to share my work with the wider community (including console players!). My creative freedom and our schedule here remain exactly the same.

Also, just a heads up that the next set is slightly delayed for later this month. I was recovering from a surgery I had earlier this month (and honestly I was feeling like trash and going a few times to ER for a while before that lmao) but I’ve been feeling better and slowly getting back. Thank you so much for all ur support all these years and for being so patient with me! ♥

Latest EA Survey is Gathering Feedback on The Future of The Sims 4 Live Events

Have your say in the latest official survey from EA!

Electronic Arts has published a new survey based on The Sims 4 Live Events and what you want to see more of them in the future. The survey has been quietly put up on the third page of The Sims 4 Main Menu ads, which leads you to the direct link with questions about the Live Events.

Let’s break down all the questions so you can prepare your input in the latest official survey!

Official The Sims 4 Live Events Survey from EA

Right off the bat you’ll be asked in the first question about your current understanding and experience with Sims 4 Live Events. Asking if you’ve completed at least 1 event quest from the latest Sims 4 Lost Legacies Event that passed 3 days ago.

Screenshot 2026 03 20 at 11.41.51

Even if you said yes the second question will ask you about what made you not participate or complete the said live event. Ranging from technical issues to event preferences.

Screenshot 2026 03 20 at 11.43.59

The next two questions focus more on the future of The Sims 4 Live Events. The third question prompts the user to indicate interest on different type of Events for The Sims 4. Including Login-based Events, Gameplay-based events, Content Specific Events and Narrative Events. The fourth question invites the player to vote on what would encourage them to participate more in the future, including:

  • More engaging theme
  • Better integration with core gameplay
  • Shorter time commitment
  • More frequent reminders / notifications
  • Better narrative / expanding on lore about specific Sims or Worlds
  • Social components
  • Clearer instructions / objectives
  • Better Rewards

Next several questions talk about the current state of The Sims 4 Live Events and the player’s satisfaction with them. Letting the player vote on reward motivation and comprehension, quality of Live Event features and experience rating.

Going back to the future again, you’ll be able to cast your vote on type of rewards you would like to see in future events. Including Build / Buy items, Recipes, CAS items, Character Traits and other suggestions.

And lastly, some general questions and input about The Sims 4 Live Events and interest in knowledge about other video game IP’s delivery of Live Events.

Custom Content Still Breaks The Game: “Failed to Launch The Sims 4” Error Persists After Hotfix

Players are reporting that they can’t even open The Sims 4 now after the recent updates.

ARTICLE UPDATE: The Sims Direct Team acknowledged this issue on X, stating that they’re currently working on a fix and testing it over this weekend to resolve it as soon as possible. The current time frame for this hotfix for a hotfix update is set for early next week. Stay tuned as we find out more!

We’ve been investigating the “Failed to launch game” error message & have been tracking via EA Forums. We’re working on a fix & testing it over the weekend to resolve this asap, currently targeting a patch early next week. We’ll update you as we can.

The Sims 4’s Quality of Life improvements for the Base Game are off to a great start. EA’s promises of putting new scotch tape over a paper mache foundation of a Base Game is met with new player error reports. “Failed to Launch The Sims 4” is an error message that keeps popping out for players who use select Custom Content in The Sims 4, with a dedicated EA support forum thread of over 190 upvotes.

failed to launch the sims 4 error

What is the new “Failed to Launch The Sims 4” Error about?

The issue persists for players who both updated with the March 17th and March 18th Updates for The Sims 4 on PC / Mac. Some players report that they expected the issue with broken Sims 4 Custom Content to be fixed in the Hotfix before encountering this issue, while some report they can’t even test out which Mods are causing the issues due to the launch crash. Here are some of the experiences reported by different players:

My game launch once after the update finished (without cc and mods) and isn’t launching at all with mods and cc! It has a error message popping up saying “An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later.”

Source: Myrie16

Are you kidding me? Yesterday at least my game was opening, but today it won’t even launch. How is this supposed to be a solution? Am I really the only one experiencing this? It’s honestly impossible not to lose your mind over this. I can barely even force close the game because the screen completely freezes and nothing responds.

Source: itsmeripplee

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I updated my game yesterday and again with today’s fixes, but it still won’t launch. I do play with mods and CC, and I’ve already gone through the whole process — deleting my cache, creating a new folder, and adding everything back one by one. I understand my mods need to be updated, so I haven’t added those back yet. However, my CC still isn’t working. Some CC will let the game launch, but when I try again with the same CC folders, they suddenly stop working. I’ve spent a few hours adding and removing things, but nothing seems to work.

The Hotfix That Further Broke The Game

You’d normally expect for a Hotfix Patch release to work as intended, but that’s not the case with The Sims 4. Players first reported only not being able to see Custom Content and Mods in their game after the March 17th Patch.

After EA promised to fix that in a new Hotfix Update the following day, it made the situation worse for some by not allowing them to open the game at all. Causing the “Failed to Launch The Sims 4” error message with no solution but to remove the entire Mods folder.

The helper really isn’t helpful, Did all those methods myself and even took so many of my mods out to all script mods off and it still is unable to launch. the looking through cc isn’t the issue its the patch itself that’s the issue. I can’t even run the game without mods even turned on! And I have a fresh install and tried it on three computers now ! Nothing works mods, no script mods, cc only, no mods, no scripts, half and half nothing works anymore. It launched maybe 2 times for me during the test periods perfect but when I redid the same launch with same files it would give the error. it doesn’t matter its an error on the side of EA/ you can have a vanilla game and it will still say “unable to launch, sorry error has occured or simple frozen ea app”

The Issue Could Be Related to Select CC Clothing Pieces

Sims players who were patient and persistent in testing which CC / Mods could cause The Sims 4 launch error to happen might have found some CC categories that are causing this issue.

I tried fixing my mods folder, most of the issue groups I had was related to just normal cc, shoes, bottoms, and something funny, I had 2 groups I was testing, they two worked fine, but when I have put the 2 groups in the mods folder the game came back to not open, very weird

sims 4 login error

Source

This is driving me crazy! So far, I’ve managed to load about 50% of my mods. But the folders with hair, clothes, and shoes are still causing the same error, and the game won’t start! I have thousands of items—clothes, hair, and shoes—from different creators, not to mention that they’re a fundamental part of my saved games.

I’m so frustrated… I feel like banging my head against the wall just thinking about how many hours it’s going to take to figure out which shoe, which outfit, and which hairstyle is causing the conflict (if the problem is even with this custom content).

Why do I have to waste my time and give up my custom content because of their sloppy work? Two updates, and custom content is still causing conflicts—which wasn’t happening before. This clearly wasn’t tested properly. I should at least be able to roll back the update, since I have no intention of using that garbage marketplace.

EA’s Current Response

EA Community Manager EA_Solaire has acknowledged this issue through the “Failed to launch error” help thread, asking for players to submit their Save Game files to EA for further testing and investigation.

CONVERSATION 2

Hello all,

For those of you still encountering this issue, could you share your Electronic Arts folder to help us investigate this further? You can find this folder under Documents-> Electronic Arts.

If so, please send me a DM with a link to your folder. Instructions can be found here

Thanks!

At least we have the completely functional Sims 4 Marketplace with microtransactions to enjoy without any errors until EA decides to take these issues seriously.

Designed for Sims who enjoy hosting family dinners or gathering around the table, the collection offers a versatile and contemporary style that works well in both compact homes and more spacious builds.

If you’re looking for a free alternative with a similar aesthetic, the HAUS Dining Room set by bbygyal123 is a great option to consider. This 15-item collection focuses on warm tones, soft shapes, and a more decorative approach to dining spaces, with standout pieces like the detailed cabinet and cozy seating. While it leans more into a curated, lived-in feel rather than a fully modular set, it still delivers a cohesive dining experience—perfect for storytelling moments like family dinners or seasonal gatherings, all without stepping into the Marketplace.

Another great free alternative in a similar style is the Gale Dining set by myshunosun. This 10-item collection leans into a more contemporary and polished aesthetic, with subtle metallic finishes and elegant table details that elevate the overall look of any dining space. While it’s a smaller set, it covers all the essentials—from the dining table and chairs to decor pieces like tableware, vases, and a serving cart—making it an easy, cohesive option for players who want a refined dining setup without relying on the Marketplace.

Sims 4 Refined Living Room Kit Review

Our Review of The Sims 4 Spindi Dining Room Maker Pack

Ultimately, this is where that initial underwhelming feeling really comes into play. While this is one of the more affordable Maker Packs we’ve seen so far at 400 Moolas, it also ends up being the least convincing in terms of overall value. Despite offering a similar number of items, many of them feel smaller in scope, simpler in execution, or even slightly repetitive—like the ceiling lights, which are essentially variations of the same design split into different sizes.

There’s also a noticeable repetition in some of the ideas behind the clutter. Items like fruit bowls or plate stacks feel very familiar, echoing concepts we’ve already seen multiple times. This lack of novelty stands out even more when compared to other creator packs that attempt to push these decorative elements a bit further or introduce more distinctive details.

This ends up impacting the perceived depth of the set, making it feel less substantial compared to others within the Marketplace. And while Peacemaker is a creator whose work we genuinely appreciate, placing this kind of content within a paid, curated ecosystem inevitably invites a more critical lens. In this context, the pack struggles to meet the baseline expectations needed for it to feel truly worth the investment.

For that reason, and considering how difficult it already is to justify purchases within this new Marketplace model, this is not a set we would currently recommend.

So, what do you think about the Sims 4 Spindi Dining Room Maker Pack—does it feel worth its price to you? And if you want to explore more reviews and breakdowns, make sure to check out our other The Sims 4 Marketplace articles on the site.

Get Rid of Moola Coins and Clean Your Sims 4 Main Menu with This Mod Update for The Marketplace

Okay, enough time has passed (2 days). We need to get rid of the Marketplace… at least from our main menu. If you’re tired of constantly seeing your Moola balance or those new UI icons every time you launch the game—especially now that the Marketplace is already starting to shift in small ways—this Sims 4 Main Menu mod might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Designed to clean up the interface, this mod hides Marketplace-related elements—like the Moola wallet and download manager icons—unless you actively open the Marketplace tab. The result is a much cleaner Home screen that feels closer to the classic The Sims 4 experience, without the constant reminder of the game’s new in-game economy.

Clean your Main Menu and forget The Marketplace

The Refreshed Main Menu 3.1 is a new version of the well-known mod by Simmattically, updated to reflect the recent changes introduced with The Marketplace. Rather than completely redesigning the interface, this version focuses on subtle but impactful adjustments—especially when it comes to decluttering the Home screen.

Beyond its Marketplace-focused changes, this Sims 4 Main Menu Mod also includes a variety of quality-of-life improvements that enhance the overall presentation of the game’s interface. Players can customize background images, reroll scenes, adjust or hide their household display, and even remove news panels and notifications for a cleaner experience.

The mod also introduces visual tweaks such as sharper household images, alternative logos, and fixes for UI issues like the blue overlay glitch. Altogether, these additions make the main menu feel more customizable, less cluttered, and far more aligned with how players actually want to experience The Sims 4.

The existence of mods like this also says a lot about how players are reacting to The Marketplace and its integration into The Sims 4 interface. Traditionally, the main menu has been a relatively neutral space, focused on your household, your saves, and the core experience of the game. With the introduction of a persistent wallet balance and new UI elements tied to in-game purchases, that space now feels more connected to a live service environment.

For some players, this shift may not be an issue. But for others, constantly seeing their Moola balance can change how they perceive the game, subtly reinforcing the idea of spending rather than playing.

This is especially relevant in a game like The Sims 4, where a large part of the community has been used to discovering content through free custom content platforms, modding sites, or traditional DLC purchases. The Marketplace introduces a different dynamic, and the way it is visually integrated into the game plays a big role in how it is received.

It’s not surprising to see players turning to mods that simply… remove the noise. Not to reject the system entirely, but to regain control over how and when they interact with it. By hiding these elements from the main menu, mods like this allow players to separate gameplay from monetization—bringing the focus back to what The Sims has always been about: creativity, storytelling, and personal expression.

So, how do you feel about The Marketplace being so visible in The Sims 4? If you want to dive deeper into how this system is evolving, don’t miss our other articles covering recent Marketplace changes and updates.

This Sims 4 Maker Set Has a New Moola Price on The Marketplace

The Soft Lines Living Set has been cut from 400 to 300 Moola in less than 2 days!

We didn’t expect for The Sims 4 Marketplace to get dynamic with its pricing range right off the bat in its launch week, but here we are. We received a tip from Twitter user @Fur_Ross about a Sims 4 Maker Set on The Marketplace from Pierisim getting a price cut. The change happened to the Soft Lines Living Set, consisting of 11 Build Mode objects.

softlinens

As you can see in the preview below, this Build Set used to cost 400 Moola, or around 4USD. Now you can get it for 300 Moola, or around 3USD.

There currently isn’t any information available on what happens to a player who already purchased a Set, and that Set got a price cut just two days after. Normally you’d expect a refund (at least in Moola coins) but we’re not sure if that would be the case with this EA product.

Neither the creator nor EA have released a statement about this price change as of now, but we’ll make sure to keep you posted if more is released.

The Sims 4 Marketplace Launch: Community Feedback & Poll

The latest update to The Sims 4 has sparked a wave of conversation among players, and at the centre of it all is the newly Sims 4 marketplace launch and the broken state it has left people’s games in.

Designed to expand the ways players access, share, and purchase content, the feature marks a significant shift in how the game’s ecosystem operates, and reactions have been anything but quiet, revealing a player base both excited and uneasy about the game’s future.

You can use our unofficial poll below to share your thoughts on the new marketplace, as well as vote for your favourite maker packs.

marketplace storefront

You can see in the new in-game menu that maker packs have been prioritised over other pack types in the top navigation.

Community Concerns

The new marketplace seems to be leaving a bad taste in players’ mouths. Many of the comments across the official Sims social media, as well as our own, are talking about how this has been the final straw for them, and they aren’t going to be going back to the game despite loving it for many years.

Across social media and Reddit threads, players have raised concerns about monetisation, with some arguing the system prioritises profit over improving the base game. This Reddit thread from LowSodiumSimmers has also highlighted fears that the long-standing culture of freely shared custom content is under threat.

Comparing To The Sims 3 Store

Lots of comments have been shared around comparing this new marketplace to the old in-game storefront we had for The Sims 3. However, there are a lot of differences between the two, which this commenter, among others, pointed out on our recent marketplace post.

Honestly, people comparing The Sims 4 marketplace to The Sims 3 Store are missing the point completely. They are not even the same type of system.

The Sims 4 marketplace is basically a platform where creators sell their own content. These “Maker Packs” are made by simmers and sold through the game using a virtual currency, and there are no real promotions or structured deals behind it. It’s just individual paid content created by players, which already makes it fundamentally different.

The Sims 3 Store actually had a proper store system. It had constant sales, daily deals, and rotating discounts. You could get full worlds for very cheap, often bundled with a lot of extra content. It actually felt like you were getting value for your money.

And one of the biggest things people ignore is how it handled collections. If you already owned part of a set, you could complete the rest for free or for a very low price. It rewarded players instead of making them rebuy everything.

The Sims 4 marketplace doesn’t have any of that. No meaningful promotions, no system to complete collections, and everything is fragmented into small paid packs made by creators. It just feels like isolated purchases with no real player friendly structure.
So comparing the two makes no sense. The Sims 3 Store was a proper store with a consumer friendly model, while the Sims 4 marketplace is just a paid creator platform with none of those benefits.

A comment on our recent marketplace post

Comparing To Other In-Game Stores

The Sims 4 is not the only EA game out currently which has a microtransaction system that is being updated with new content.

skate. is the newest edition to the Skate franchise, and it also has its own in-game store, with four different currencies available to players. The main currency, San Van Bucks, costs around the same amount as Moola, and is what can be used to make the majority of microtransaction purchases.

IMG 9890

However, the value for money is significantly lower, with currency only being redeemed for one in-game pose or a single hat, yet costing the same as some Sims 4 maker packs.

Marketplace First Look! The Sims 4 Cozy Fitness Review & Free Alternatives

The Sims 4 Marketplace has officially launched through the latest patch, bringing the first wave of creator-made content directly into the game. Among the first available releases is the Sims 4 Cozy Fitness Maker Pack by creator @Caio, a Create-a-Sim set focused on stylish and flexible athletic wear.

The Sims 4 Cozy Fitness collection features tight-fitting yet comfortable sports outfits designed for active Sims, perfect for gym sessions, workouts, or casual athleisure looks. The Maker Pack is currently available in the Marketplace for 500 Moolas, making it one of the first CAS sets players can purchase through the new in-game store.

Welcome to Cozy Fitness, a collection designed to bring comfort and style to your Sims’ active routine. With 16 pieces featuring relaxed silhouettes and modern sporty details, this set is perfect for workouts and casual days. From the gym to a quick walk around town, Cozy Fitness delivers versatility, warmth, and a clean athletic look to keep your Sims confident and ready for anything.

Cozy Fitness Set

This Maker Pack adds sixteen new assets for Teen to Elder Sims (seventeen if you count the headphones twice). The main focus is clothing items, along with some accessories such as socks and leggings. There are more items designed for feminine frames than for masculine ones, although the overall distribution between the two is fairly balanced.

In total, feminine-framed Sims receive three tops, two full-body outfits, four bottoms, three accessories (two pairs of socks and a pair of headphones worn around the neck), and one pair of shoes. Meanwhile, masculine-framed Sims receive two tops, one bottom, and four accessories (two pairs of socks, one pair of leggings, and the headphones).

Both headphones share the same model, and the shorts are perfectly designed to work for both masculine and feminine frames.

Sims 4 Refined Living Room Kit Review

Our Review of The Sims 4 Cozy Fitness Maker Pack

From a quality standpoint, the Sims 4 Cozy Fitness set is quite solid. The textures look clean, the clothing fits well within the game’s art style, and some pieces—especially the headphones—bring slightly more creative ideas to athletic outfits in Create-a-Sim. It’s clear that care went into the design of these items.

However, the context of the Marketplace makes the overall value a bit harder to evaluate. At 500 Moolas, the pack feels relatively expensive when compared to official Kits, which usually include around 25 items at roughly the same $5 price point. While smaller creator packs are expected to work differently from official DLC, the comparison inevitably raises questions about pricing and value.

This is also where things become delicate. The quality of the set itself isn’t really the issue—if these items were released on traditional custom content platforms, many players would likely download them without hesitation, especially knowing that creators often support their work through traditional platforms. Inside the Marketplace ecosystem, though, the pricing structure and the broader monetization model inevitably shape how these releases are perceived.

In the end, Sims 4 Cozy Fitness is a well-crafted set that shows the creativity and talent of its Maker. The hesitation many players may feel likely comes less from the quality of the content itself, and more from the new economic framework in which it now exists.

What do you think about the Sims 4 Cozy Fitness set? Does it feel worth the price to you?

The Sims 4 Sunburst Collection Marketplace Maker Set Has Competition… And It’s FREE!

The very controversial Sims 4 Marketplace, an addition to The Sims 4 that adds microtransactions funded by the virtual currency “Moola” with released sets released by partnered and approved Makers, has released for PC players as of March 17th, 2026, with console players expected to receive the Sims 4 Marketplace in the near future. One of these sets, the Sims 4 Sunburst Collection by well-loved and popular Maker and CC Creator CrypticSim, has come under especially heavy critique due to the pricing and actual content of the set. Many players and creators have pointed out pixelation and seemingly low quality, making many question the price tag and what the actual bar for quality is with releases found in the Sims 4 Marketplace.

Sims 4 Sunburst Collection - Free CC Set Competitor
assets 2026 03 1772503496 Northstar 8

The price of the set itself is 500 Moola, with the most basic conversion being $5 USD. The set includes 10 items, all being makeup available in Create-A-Sim. The price, amount of items, and quality of the collection is noticeably different when you compare this to a Creator Kit by the same creator, The Sims 4 Essential Glam Kit by CrypticSim. That initial creator kit released in August 2025 was a well-received kit, especially when compared to other releases in the last year or so, with 27 new assets for the same price as the Sims 4 Sunburst Collection.

When generally describing the content of the marketplace outside of this, most of these sets align heavily with the style and direction of The Sims 4, only include basic assets rather than full mods or off-the-wall custom content, and are priced by the creators themselves. As far as we know, Makers get 30% of every purchase while EA & Maxis take the remaining 70%.

The State of Sims 4 Mods & CC

Sims 4 State of Mods FI

As we’re sure many of you are aware, the update that occurred yesterday (PC: 1.122.205.1030 / Mac: 1.122.205.1230) to release bug fixes and to launch the Sims 4 Marketplace had a severe side effect of breaking the large majority of mods and custom content. Even things that normally don’t break from updates, like custom CAS items and Build & Buy Objects, have had multitudes of issues due to a break that messed with the ability for the game itself to recognize .package files, the only file type really used for modding the Sims 4, outside of .ts4script files.

The developers of The Sims 4 have somewhat of a poor reputation of fixing issues that have upset the community, often leaving bugs unhandled for weeks, months, or years. However, the backlash of creating an update that breaks thousands of custom content items forced a quick reply, as the forums and social media were flooded with outraged PC players. Since the update in question is an introduction to the marketplace for PC only, many players that were actually effected by this were custom content and mod users, despite the primary justification for the marketplace being that it “gives” Sims 4 Console players access to “custom content”.

Players are now expecting a quick hotfix update, expected March 18th 2026, to fix the issue that leads to the game not properly recognizing .package files, which will hopefully reverse these issues and allow mod creators to move forward with the status quo of updates, as many have been stopped in their tracks because of this. With everything being up in the air, players and creators alike have felt stuck.

Community Reaction & Response

If you are anyone who has modded or used custom content in The Sims 4, you are likely well aware of updates often breaking mods. Recently, EA has been often giving a heads up and warning both creators and players, encouraging them to prepare accordingly to avoid game corruption. This update, like many before it, was expected to break some mods, but most players expected that custom content would remain intact, like just about every update before this.

However, the actual update led to a wide range of issues, from broken meshes, .package files not being recognized, and players not even being able to re-enable mods to test the update if they wanted to. The community reaction was swift, with creators big and small pointing out that this is not normal. This even led to conspiracies about the idea of this being intentional, as a way to push players towards the marketplace.

We more specifically wanted to point this out as players will likely not be able to use CC items until this patch is released, unless they’ve disabled auto updates and played in offline mode.

The Sunburst collection is a vibrant makeup and blemish patch collection with bold blues, greens, pinks, reds, oranges, and yellows. This collection consists of two eyeshadows, a glossy and matte lip tint, and 6 different variations of blemish patches, including stars, hearts, butterflies, and smiley faces.

This set by Sims 4 Marketplace Maker CrypticSim comes with 10 total items, including two lipsticks, two eye makeup items, and six face paint category items that act and appear as star and smiley face pimple patches, somewhat reminiscent of the ones introduced in the Sims 4 Sweet Slumber Party Creator Kit by Trillyke, which was one of the first available and official creator kits.

Star & Kawaii Pimple Patches FREE CC Sets by DaisyPixels

TS4 x64 fpb 2026 03 18 08 32 38 970 edited

DaisyPixels, a creator well-known for creating very cute and sweet clothing items and other pieces of custom content, was one of many people who felt a certain way about the marketplace and the quality of the items shown in previews. An anonymous follower expressed to DaisyPixels that they were sad because they wouldn’t be able to get the pimple patches that were shown in the marketplace preview, from the Sims 4 Sunburst Collection.

TS4 x64 fpb 2026 03 18 08 36 23 083

In response, DaisyPixels stated “I don’t really like the idea of anyone paying explicitly for PNGs and this thing took me like 10 minutes“, releasing the first set of Star Pimple Patches. After another anonymous ask, the Kawaii Pimple Patches were also released as a set by request.

Both sets come in five swatches each, with the Star Pimple Patches coming in single colors and a multicolor scheme, and the Kawaii Pimple Patches coming in multiple sets with various cute little stickers.

This CC set by DaisyPixels gives players options and decent quality without a price tag or virtual currency requirement, making it easily accessible for those who can mod or add custom content to their game. The colors provided can easily work with most custom content or base game clothing items and don’t seem to have any issues with warping or pixelation that we often see with some face paint textures, found both in custom content and in-game items.

TS4 x64 fpb 2026 03 18 08 30 57 963

While items placed in the Sims 4 Marketplace cannot be reuploaded anywhere else by the creators, and contain restrictions on multiple factors of the creation and publishing of these sets, we’re likely to see many free CC creators show true love for this game’s community by providing easily accessible custom content, whether they are free from the start or after an, often short, early access period.

Apart from just pleading with Grim, how do we beat the grim reaper when it comes to our Sims on the brink of death? From base game to almost every expansion pack and sprinkled in some Game and Stuff packs – there are plenty of death types in The Sims 4 lurking in almost every corner. Are you keeping your Sims safe or letting them live life to the fullest and hoping for the best?

We may know how to bring a ghost back from the dead but what about saving a Sim whose time has suddenly run out.

When our Sims time comes our fabulous floating friend, good old Grim Reaper, glides in to tie up any loose ends in a neat little bow… or rather a shiny urn or tombstone. Reaping souls is his job, it is what he arrives for (despite those of us who mainly try get him to pitch up so we can seduce him…) and what he comes to complete.

But what if this death was unplanned? Maybe you are mid legacy challenge and your heir just can’t leave this Sims world just yet. So how do we actually beat Grim to save our little pixel friends?

Death types

I won’t sit here all day and list all the possible death types in the Sims 4… there are over 20 death types for you to explore or accidentally stumble into all on your own. What I will say is that there are plenty of creative ways to meet the Grim Reaper and in turn, a few ways to also beat the Grim Reaper. The latest death came with the latest expansion pack – The Sims 4 Royalty & Legacy in the form of a grandfather clock which is entertaining to see.

Every death brings with it a specific ghost with unique behaviors… but what if we never want to get to the ghost stage? What if all of this was a misunderstanding and we want… or NEED, this particular Sim to live?

This is where we try our hand at pleading for life with the grim reaper.

Plead with the Grim Reaper

One way to beat the grim reaper is to seduce him first. Perhaps you have been lucky enough to have encountered him in a previous situation that wasn’t quite as close to your heart as this one. So getting that flirty side of your Sim out could come in handy if all goes well. Seduce the Grim Reaper and your Sim may just be saved!

Beware the down side… Grim might laugh at you , shake his finger and decline your seduction and then you have failed to beat the grim reaper and your poor Sim is all Grims. ‘Pleading’ for your Sims life is a normal interaction that pops up in the social dialog when Grim appears. But seducing is one that appears if your Sim is in a flirty mood.

Though you must wait for him to reach the dying Sim for the reaping to begin. Pleading has a 50/50 outcome, sometimes having a higher relationship with the unfortunate Sim who is passing away helps sway Grim in your favor to save the Sim. Having a higher relationship with Grim also helps.

Being in the right mood

Being in the right mood could help your Sim beat the grim reaper with their pleading. And not just any mood, but a confident one. Two of the easier ways to get your Sims into a confident mood is either finding the nearest sink, lets hope the bathroom one is the closest, and get your Sim to brush their teeth. Brushing teeth will usually give your Sim a +1 confident moodlet for about 4 Sim hours.

And the second easy way is to find a mirror and get your Sim to “psych self up” in the mirror which will give your Sim a +1 confident moodlet for 3 hours. Last but certainly not least is to get your Sim to brew themselves some tea with a teapot. Now I am not talking about just any old tea, but specifically an Early Grey Tea which will give your Sim a +2 confident moodlet for 4 hours.

There are a few other ways to get your Sims confident, viewing or being around confident artwork being another, but the three mentioned above (mainly the first two) are some of the easier ways to go about it. So being in a confident mood when pleading for a Sims life to the Grim Reaper is a huge plus in being successful in saving another Sims life.

Gifts to Beat The Grim Reaper

Death Flower

Offering a Death Flower to the Grim Reaper almost guarantees success which is a win if you happen to have some death flowers lying around, which isn’t extremely likely but it is an option. Grim will accept the flower and revive your Sim.

It is said that the death flower has a 100% success rate as he’ll always accept this in exchange for the life of a Sim. To grow a Death Flower, your Sim needs to be a level 5 in the gardening skill to unlock grafting. To make the death flower you need to graft a pomegranate to an orchid which will result in a death flower. Use that or plant it to create a whole bunch of death flowers… just in case.

Gift Grim a Death Frog

In The Sims 4 Life & Death Expansion Pack, when Grim comes to reap a Sim’s soul you can gift him a Death Frog. When gifted, there’s a high chance Grim will accept this in exchange for the life of a Sim. You can find Death Frogs the same way you’d look for regular frogs in the game, by selecting the ’Look for Frogs’ interaction on logs and in ponds. Your Sim will have a greater chance of finding one if they search around midnight.

However… I had the death frog in my inventory when I tried to plead and gifting the frog did not come up as an option. Let us know down below if you have managed to get this to work?

Having The Right Skills

You only get to plead once. In The Sims 4 Life & Death, Sims can challenge Grim to a game. If they beat him, the dying Sim will be revived and get another chance at life. One of the games has to be on the lot at the moment of death for Sims to be able to challenge Grim. One of these games is chess, a very popular item at community lots which will get your logic up. Having very high logic is a definite must if you plan on challenging Grim to a game of chess.

Darts, which came with The Sims 4 Get Together, is another option along with ‘Don’t Wake The Llama’ and foosball. If you like playing games and your Sim is inclined to win, do consider this option but beware… the games mentioned are always heavily swayed in Grims favor so winning is less than a 50/50 chance… though there is always that slight hope right?

Other games your Sims can play include basketball (a hoops contest or dunking contest) which is an option with The Sims 4 City Living expansion pack, as well as juice pong and ping pong – both of which came with The Sims 4 Discover University.

Have you managed to beat the Grim Reaper in your game? It can be a game of wits, skill or just pure luck when it comes to Grim but at the end of the day, unless you have aging turned off, all your Sims will meet Grim sooner or later. Now at least you will be prepared with a handful of ways in which to save another Sims life!

However, if you are a lone Sim living by themselves on a lot, well… may the odds be ever in your favor! Let us know in the comments what your encounters with Grim have been like and see more of our Original Articles and Game Guides!
