SimGuruGraham confirmed on Twitter that The Sims 4 will be a 32bit only game!
We won’t have a 64 bit exe; it’s fairly uncommon for games. Our lead ENG explained to me why Sims 4 wouldn’t particularly benefit from it and it sounded quite reasonable, but I’m not comfortable enough discussing tech to try and repeat his explanation.
This means that the game will take max 4GB of your RAM, meaning that if you have 8, 12 or more GB’s of RAM, maximum 4GB’s will be used and the rest of your Random Access Memory will remain.
Please note that 64bit PC’s will also be able to play The Sims 4. This was the same case with The Sims 3.
Interesting, well I’m just happy I can still play it on my 64bit and luckily I have 8GB of RAM 😀
I don’t know why they keep making awful mistakes in the conception of this game.
First of all, most computers you buy now have at least 8 gb of ram and 64 bits.
Graphics are dissapointing, they could be a lot better than this, i nearly see the difference between the sims 3 and 4
Look at games like metal gear solid ground zeroes or assasins creed unity and you can see the kind of graphics we can have now.
EA needs to learn from its mistakes, they did it pretty bad for sim city, a game so dissapointing when it came out that they had to patch the game several times over more than a year just to let people play offline. Mac version came out months after which seems to be the case here also, when the sims 3 was available the same day it came out for pc and mac.
Plus seems like they want us to buy everything, like having a pool will not be free like it used to be, babies go from baby to kid without being a toddler just feels wrong…. And so on, i dont know if i’ll buy this game like i did with all the previous ones and its extensions honestly
Then don’t buy the game. Try making your own game and see how time consuming it is. I am a graphics design, web designer, and everything in between, and it is the hardest part of my life. You need to stop being so closed minded and see that these minor things don’t really affect the game play. Have you ever raised a child? Yes, there is a toddler stage but it is very short. So removing it from the game, even just for now, is perfectly sane. The creators of the sims are not making mistakes. They are improving. Also, just because there are other games with “better” graphics does not mean The Sims developers wanted the same look for their game. Don’t get me wrong your opinions, from everyone, are greatly appreciated and welcome, but a lot of you are being very closed minded and rude. Go read my other comment about the toddlers and pools. It is not a big deal. And I will quote myself, Rome was not built in a day. Also, you did see the part where the game can be played on 64bit as well right? I have a 32bit computer, and I use 64bit exe all the time. I never have any problems. If you want the game to run great, and have new additions, then old things need to be let go, at least for now.
You really don’t understand computers do you? Making in 32 bit is short sighted. It’s not going to use the capabilities of a good computer. EA is a multi-million dollar corporation, not an indie game house. They have the power, the tools, and the capability to make this game AMAZING and include all of the things it should have. Stop giving them a pass. And you have it backwards you can’t run 64 bit exe on 32 bit without some kind of emulation. You can run 32 on 64, however, but with annoying limitations.
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about (typically of graphic designers…). You CAN NOT run 64 bit applications on a 32 bit OS. Take it from a developer I know what I’m talking about.
Second, things like having to buy a pool for extra money is just a way of raping the consumer, yes it takes time to create textures, scenes and not tick the user off with a poor user experience (graphics wise) but charging for basic things is moronic from the consumers point of view and possibly from a business point of view if less people buy the game due to the fact that the basic game is deprived of basic features that have been available for 14 years of Sims games prior.
Finally, who are you to tell someone what is worth putting in the game or not? Maybe most players really enjoy the toddlers stage who are you to decide whether that is important/”a big deal” or not. Oh… wait that’s right… you are some lowly graphic designer for web (boring….) who probably doesn’t know the first thing about writing a game (a real game not some flash based or iframe PoS).
I remember that when sims 3 came out i needed pretty much the top of the line in computers to play the game, i was happy because i had a new macbook pro and it had already 4 gb of ram at the time, i could play the game with no problem, and now you tell me that in so many yearsthey still need the same ammount of ressources?, seems like they wanted the game to work in old machines so they would sell many more copies than if they made a better game and sold it only to those who have recent computers only (like when sims 3 came out)
Hi anyone know if the sims 4 will be able to run on my MAC BOOK PRO. the sims 3 pc dvd rom played just fine will this be the same for TS4. Or do i have to wait longer for a mac version. i think that would be unfair really i was hoping to get TS4 for my birthday as its out 4 day before.
As of now there is no talk what so ever of them making a MAC version. Apparently the market inst large enough for them to consider making a MAC version.
