With yesterday’s announcement of The Sims 4’s biggest collaboration yet – the Star Wars: Journey to Batuu Game Pack, the community was surprised by this collab decision…both for the good and the bad. Surely there are plenty of Star Wars fans who never played The Sims 4 before and were intrigued by pack, but there’s also a core player base of The Sims 4 who didn’t like the decision to fill in the next Game Pack slot with a Star Wars universe…whether they’re also Star Wars fans or not.
It’s not every day that you see two fictional universes come together and merge into one paid DLC content and so Simmers had a lot to say regarding this upcoming pack. We asked folks over on Twitter what they think about this pack collaboration and here are some of the replies we’ve picked out:
To further explain it, I’d be just as disappointed if Realm of Magic was a Harry Potter crossover pack. But it wasn’t, because RoM is its own thing, as Sims in general has always been. Crossover universes just don’t fit in the Sims. It’s weird and wonky and alienates players.

I love it. As a huge Star Wars fan I was hoping for more Star Wars content in the game since 2015 and was building my own environments etc to play my own Star Wars stories.. Now I finally have the items and locations to do so
— Bastii (@brobastii) August 27, 2020
I’m not sure. I don’t need SW in my game, but could find ways to enjoy it. On the other hand I’m definitely not going to pay the full price for a GP I don’t need – esp. with all the bugs new features always bring to the game. So I’ll wait for LPs and first players’ experiences.
— ✨Tasha’s Sims (@TashasSims) August 28, 2020
I love story packs, i literally can’t wait to play it. This is coming from someone that doesn’t care at all about Star wars, maybe this pack will interest me in the franchise?
— LittleDica (Sometimes NSFW) (@alessandrosim99) August 27, 2020
I’m not a SW fan and haven’t even watched the movies, so not interested. But I’m happy the gurus got to do something different, especially @SimGuruNinja (who we know loves sw 👀). I think the majority of the anger in the responses stem from being tired of not beeing heard by EA
— IZU🐞 (@msisabelaurora) August 28, 2020
I love Star Wars. I love The Sims. But here’s the thing, I love chicken and waffles. But I tried them together and hated it. So far, this game pack gives that same feel for me…
— Julian/Iron Seagull (@Iron_Cgull) August 27, 2020
Finally, I can make my Simself marry Rey without needing custom content!!!!
— negaoryx (@negaoryx) August 28, 2020
I’m happy for the people that love Star Wars and are excited for this pack. personally, though, as someone who doesn’t care about SW, I’m disappointed. I would’ve preferred legitimately anything else. 🤷🏼
— Olivia ✨ (@plumpaperbacks) August 28, 2020
I loved it but couldn’t help to think: We’re getting the Millenium falcon before cars ????
— ベレン (@bplusd7) August 28, 2020
Honestly I don’t think I have ever been so happy to see this. I’ve been a star Wars geek since I was 8 and will be preordering ASAP.
— Jade 🖤 Lost in the void (@JMRosenberry) August 28, 2020
I really like Star Wars but it seems so out of place for The Sims 4. Never have I played and thought…hm I need this family man to go fight The Resistance and become a jedi. Idk. I think the clothes look rad.
— gaby (@simswithgaby) August 28, 2020
My sim gets to go to Batuu?? My sim gets to go to Batuu!!!
Light Sabers! There’s gonna be light sabers!!
Wait! Does this mean MY SIM CAN BE A JEDI OR A SITH??!
— Jeanne Gehring (@JeanneGehring) August 28, 2020
I’ll probably play it once, use the items in a build and never touch it again. I bet the alien sims will appear in other worlds. Build/buy items like dining tables, bars etc will look out of place in the catalogue. It just doesn’t make sense in the Sims 4 but that’s my opinion
— Yorkie (@TheYorkieLad) August 27, 2020
I’m super annoyed…if I wanted to play Star Wars I would play one of the millions of other Star Wars games there already are.
— sammie koppenhaver (@Sammiekope) August 28, 2020
I honestly love it! I am a HUGE StarWars fan and to be able to make myself actually be a Jedi without mods in really amazing! I really hate how people say “we have StarWars clothing in base game, we don’t need anything else”. You don’t have to like it, but don’t be negative!
— Monica (@themxnica) August 28, 2020
I really hope that we get a really expansive CAS with all of the new species, with the correct color, markings, horns etc. schemes as that’s a huge part of the diversity of the SW universe
— Xenon54 (@AnnaWind16) August 27, 2020
I think it’s just unneeded at the moment, the community are annoyed abt Skin tones, bugs etc and there are plenty of holes in the gameplay that could’ve been filled with something we’ve been asking for. Star Wars is cool but really not needed in the sims (imo) just doesn’t fit.
— medusa (@medusaasshoe) August 28, 2020
Happy for the people who wanted this. Personally I would rather have had a pure The Sims alien GP. They could have expanded on the Sixam universe and the connection to StangerVille and the Mother, and a connection to old and new Sims lore would have been wonderful!

What are your first impressions on the upcoming Game Pack? Let us know in the comments!
Well, to be fair, this just means that now, The Sims 4 has the Sci-Fi version of the Maury Povitch show as a GP.
um all of the tweets and youtube comments hate it, why didn’t you correctly demonstrate the popular view of the gamepack, which is, no one wants it.
I thinking they’re just trying express both sides, anyways the sims team will see how bummed out we are about this in the sales
And what happens if the pack ends up selling well?
I think too many people have convinced themselves that this pack will fail but plenty of video game or entertainment products come out all the time that do well despite negative public perception or fan perception or whatever else.
People also aren’t taking into account that this pack was probably something that the development team had no control over. EA has an exclusive contract with Disney & Lucasfilm to produce Star Wars games. After how poorly Battlefront 2 went over it’s not crazy to imagine a situation where EA did anything & everything they could to appease Lucasfilm, to not have the license taken away from & what not. “Hey what if put out a product that not only promotes Star Wars but also you’re Star Wars theme park as well?” could have very easily been something that happened.
The Sims franchise isn’t above or beyond this sort of thing either we’ve already seen it in TS4 with the Machismo pack. The Sims 3 had the Katy Perry pack. Sims 2 had an Ikea pack & so on.
Exactly what I was thinking! Seems like Jovan picked mostly positive comments…. doesn’t feel very representative of what ive seen on YouTube and reddit.
He no doubt picked positive comments to highlight the fact that it’s not entirely negative. That there are in fact people that are looking forward to it, instead of him just doing the thing to validate the people hating on it.
Honestly, it’s not the controversy people are making it out to be. This pack will literally be the 35th pack for the game. That should maybe highlight a bigger problem to you than them doing a pack focused on a Star Wars theme park.
That is a fair enough point, but it is incredibly misleading to present this as the general consensus of all sims players when the majority of fans (see a 34 to 85 like to dislike ratio on the trailer as I type) do not want this pack.
I think it shows an incredibly blatant bias and damages the credibility of the author. I’m sure Jovan is a nice dude and he works super hard to get these articles out but this reads like propaganda.
You have to keep in mind that just because the online perception appears to be negative it doesn’t mean the world wide consensus is. Not every Sims player posts on Twitter, YouTube, etc. It’s misleading to say or suggest that the people commenting on Twitter & YouTube represent the majority of sims players.
If this pack ends up selling well what excuse are the people who disliked it going to come up to try & justify it selling well? “Oh well it was Star Wars so of course it sold well because everything SW related sells well.” but then that goes completely against the notion of “nobody wanted this” if enough people buy it in order for it to be successful.
To me it doesn’t read like “propaganda” but a variety of different opinions where the majority is not looking forward to the pack. Looks pretty accurate to me.
So if not every Sims player uses Twitter, Youtube, Reddit, etc to voice their opinion about the pack, where are you getting the information that this is ‘not the controversy people are making it out to be?’ Because it seems pretty obvious to most of us that fans just are not interested in this pack! I am not saying The Sims doesn’t have bigger problems, it clearly does, but just pointing out that if they wanted to keep fans interested in their game (and continuing paying small fortune) they should release content we have been asking for since 2014. I am losing faith in this franchise quicker than ever…
It’s not the controversy people are making it out to be in the sense that it’s not trying to kill their firstborn child. The amount of toxicity that’s being leveled at this is insane.
You’re also not taking into account the large number of people who hate modern/new Star Wars who don’t even care about The Sims who are doing things like downvoting the YouTube video & adding to the problem.
They announce new packs like every 5 mins & a number of Sims fans haven’t liked TS4 since it was released but they continue to buy packs for the game. They still continue to support EA despite knowing full well that they (EA) has terrible business practices & have for years now.
There is enough existing history out of what The Sims franchise is & has been for the last 20 years or even The Sims 4 in the last 6 years. Too many fans want to blame everyone but themselves & never want to take any responsibility for their own actions. At a certain point the consumer/player/fan should be able to understand or recognize the fact that the thing they’re devoting so much time, attention, focus, money, etc, is unhealthy for them & isn’t doing anything but continue to upset & frustrate them.
First you say all tweets & YouTube comments hate it then complain that the article doesn’t demonstrate the popular opinion. If all the comments are hate how is it possible that this article has any positive comments to show &/or why are you asking for them to show the popular side if it’s “all” hate comments?
Just horrible, because I 1. am not a fan of Star Wars and 2. I am of the opinion that such a topic does not belong in Sims (4). Simply I definitely won’t buy this pack !!! Time for Paralives to come and EA to really compete. I read that in Paralives only realistic topics come into question and no supernatural creatures. EA is kidding us more and more and no longer following our wishes. Where is my vacation pack with hotels? I also want more free time activities for my Sims and more toys for the kids, also more playground objects, etc. Supermarkets and other shops and cars are so missing, and the worlds are way too small and too few places to build. Sims 4 disappoints me more and more and if this continues, I’ll turn my back on Sims.
I am a SW fan, not a huge one but I do enjoy the franchise enough, and a Sims fan more so and, I find it funny/ironic that the two communities that are placed together both have very strong opinions of how each Fandom should be.. theres quite a lot of “elitists” in both communities and i can only imagine the heads that are going to butt when a diehard SW fan sees an SW story not being canon enough for their taste or a fact is wrong or changed and then the sims community rallying to argue the diversity in game play..
I don’t know if it’s fair to say both communities have a lot of elitists. The elitists/fanatics are just the loudest lol no offense, just saying 🙂 imo the silent majority in both camps are pretty chill
I like Star Wars. The problem I have with this pack is, that out of all the planets in the SW universes that have appeared or mentioned they go with the planet created for the failing theme park. Building your own lightsaber is a feature of the theme park. Let’s face it the new pack is a commercial for Galaxy’s Edge at Disney. No thanks.
We honestly just want the things that were taken away from us like crawling babies, open world, CARS, teen proms. Star Wars doesn’t exactly serve a purpose in Sims. Sims 4 is so much more different than any other sim game because it seems the creators are for some reason thinking toooo outside of the box. – sad simmer
I can think of a LOT better things than Star Wars crap to add to Sims. There are already costumes, that should be enough.
I’m an avid sim player since the very beginning. I have bought every base game and expansion pack there is. I currently have all the add ons for the sims 4…. But this? I doubt I will be purchasing. Out of everything the sims community has voiced that we want in the game… this? THIS? Beyond disappointed!
What is wrong with you???????????? Why are you so incapable of giving us what we actually ask for and want???????????? Do you just ignore what we ask for and want on purpose???????????? You must do!!!!!!!!!!!! So infuriating!!!!!!!!!!!! It gets worse and worse!!!!!!!!!!!! No-one asked for this, literally no-one!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you want people to play Sims and enjoy it!!!!!!?????? Really seems like you don’t and want people to stop playing it and enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!! If you do you’re going at it completely the wrong way!!!!!!!!!!!! SORT IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
So angry and so disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m not a Star Wars super fan. I normally would not be into this type of pack but I am honestly super excited to try the new pack.
Lol, it’s like trying to sell Metallica cds at a Justin Bieber concert. Sure, maybe there’s a tiny bit of overlap in the demographics, but it’s laughably ill advised.
I would be more content with content that is missing from the game like another occult sim pack because I do not like SW its boring to me
But its my opinion.
I love SW but I have ZERO interest in playing it on Sims. Interesting how EA decided to create a pack the least amount of people voted for. Apparently it’s a waste of time to answer their surveys. I will not buy this and I hope a competitor comes out with something better. I’ve invested a lit of money in The Sims for years and 4 has been a HUGE disappointment
I’m on for this. I wish it was the Sims team’s own thing but I’m actually liking what I’m seeing. People wanna bitch about it like they haven’t before about packs they probably already bought in the end. No one is forcing them to buy packs. But again, wish like with ROM not being Harry Potter, so should the space theme. It could have been a huge potential for creativity… But people are still gonna buy this.
At this point, I believe The Sims 4 team is just mocking us. The Sims community has been very vocal about what we would of like to see change, or be added to the game, AND THIS WAS NOT IT. I’m really hoping the buy mode, build mode, and CAS items will make this pack worth it because I don’t have much other interest in this Star Wars nonsense.
I absolutely agree with you I want to be able to do more stuff with my pregnant since a Lamaze class baby shower that would be awesome and I would love to have more baby items more variety in cribs more anything to do with the babies and I would love to have a stroller so I can take the baby to any of the other worlds I’m just around the community and what night I want to be able to do more stuff with the baby then just pick it up for five seconds and put it back to the crib pick it up back to the crib not that exciting and I honestly could care less about Star Wars
Booooooooooooo, really stars wars what a huge disappointment and I mean huge. I would rather see Actions and items for babies and pregnant Sims I want to be able to take my baby out into the world may be in a stroller not just pick up hold for 30 seconds and then put it back in the crib not that exciting we should be able to get more baby items we should be able to do more things with the baby we should be able to do more things when your Sims pregnant I would love a gender reveal party or a baby shower party that would be more fun and exciting than Star Wars Star Wars is lame I’m not gonna lie it’s lame it’s boring I know that there’s some fan people to them but I’m not one of them I’m a huge Sims fan Actions and items for babies and pregnant Sims I want to be able to take my baby out into the world may be in a stroller not just pick up hold for 30 seconds and then put it back in the crib not that exciting we should be able to get more baby items we should be able to do more things with the baby we should be able to do more things when your Sims pregnant I would love a gender reveal party or a baby shower party that would be more fun and exciting than Star Wars Star Wars is lame I’m not gonna lie it’s lame it’s boring I know that there’s some fan people to them but I’m not one of them I’m a huge Sims fan But I really really really could care less about Star Wars and I apologize to the huge Star Wars fans but really really this is such a disappointment it’s just like the anniversary when everybody got a hot tub that you could already get weighed it show your fans that you really care about the Sims people.
The more I think about it the more I like it. It suits casual play. Will be fun to take my sims and send them adventuring and get them home again. Trailer seems to strike right balance of Sims sensibilities with Star Wars humour. I like the idea of stepping into “Adventureland” like in a theme park. I’m sorry not seems to have divided people. Personally, I’m up for this. Thanks for the article too Jovan.
I love star wars. But I’m not happy about this pack. It looks boring, and isn’t as inspired as other packs like ROM. It’s just star wars in sims format. No originality.
To me, EA is just like the Government.. We can vote all we want, but in the end, they choose what (who) we get..
When Sims 4 first came out, I played for an hour and saw how a lot of the Sims 3 functionality had been removed, and then I requested a refund. When I came to terms with the fact that this is how it was going to be, I realized I needed to really lower my expectations with this game. Since then, I’ve only bought anything when it was on sale, and haven’t been surprised when we get things like object-babies, knitting, and star wars.
Yar har fiddle dee dee, I’ve barely spent money on it since the sims 3!
Only 5 bucks when base game was on sale, it’s just not worth it!
(If it doesn’t read as such to others or if you don’t know the reference, read it to the tune of You Are A Pirate from Lazy Town, which also explains how I’ve been playing the game since 3 never really ran on my Mac)
I do kind of wonder about how much the people who run this site get from EA. They never seem to portray anything about The Sims critically. I get that they’re not supposed to be a serious news site or anything, but their lack of original, non-hype train articles seems kind of weird.
there’s still plenty of Pack ideas to be made before a Sims 5 is ever considered. Maybe by the year 2022 it might happen but until then the Simmers need more of made them happy with the previous Sims Packs i am referring to every Pack that went along with Sims 2 and 3.
I honestly love to see a Time Period Pack. Like Stone Age/Renaissance, or Wild West/Western theme, perhaps go back to the Golden Era. Instead of a theme that’s been done so many times over and over again, plus why does Star Wars get all the love why not Star Trek?
Either way i feel as though the Simmers have given up on the creators for the time being, even though most of them will still fork over their money, otherwise its just a lot of deadspace that needs to be filled in.
Time period one would be interesting since historical challenges are popular. Maybe the world changes like with Sulani based on the accomplishment of the generation. Like sims have to advance their civilization with inventions and carry on with a “heir/heiress” to move forward or it can remain stagnant. And it ends with an into the future world. I think that enables repeat playability. This is the biggest cash grab and one of the worse decisions for a pack of probably the whole franchise but definitely for sims 4 because again Star Wars is so niche and it was a miss opportunity to do generic aliens and alien worlds. They could add SW Easter eggs but nothing like what they’re planning on releasing.
Yeah ok you chose some nutral and some good comments there, please go to youtube and see the like-dislike bar at the trailer of this pack, to see what really people think about this “fiasco”. We’ve spent hundrents of euros/dollars etc. in the sims 2-3-4 series and you dont even listen! You got released one of the least wanted packs. Ypu got our money why do you want our time for your rediculous servays when you dont even consider our answers. I really feel bad for sims 4, cause this was my childhood game and I am kinda attached to it. But I also feel like a dollar bill every time I play since the announcement of this star wars pack!!! I mean sta wars? why? starwars????????
At some point it’s up to you to take responsibility. If EA or The Sims (4) keeps putting out content that you don’t like or want it’s ridiculous for you or anyone to keep supporting it. If you feel like they’re not listening to you then stop giving them money & stop paying attention to them.
As for why Star Wars, it’s because EA has an exclusive contract with Disney to produce Star Wars games. This pack was most likely something mandated by EA that the sims team had no control over.
I agree i think the pack was a stupid idea. And Pumpkin Escobar, we like the game. We just don’t like this pack. Yes, we give them money, But only when they produce content we are interested in. You can’t expect people to stop buying packs because we don’t like star wars. Most people are not gonna buy this pack, but people will still buy great packs like (my fav) Get Together. If you consider people buying packs that are actually good supporting E.A then
support them everyday. What I am trying to say is that, people love the sims and will always love the sims. There are times people are mad at the content that comes out, but not at the same time there are times people LOVE the content they produce, like tiny living. If the point you are trying to make is, “If you don’t like a few packs they make you should stop buying them all together” that just does not make any sense AT ALL. But if you’r only saying that we should not buy star wars because we are all mad i agree. It’s just i saw it as if you thought we should just stop buying them in general.
I’m saying don’t buy what you don’t like, however despite all the complaints the things people complain about not wanting, saying nobody asked for this, etc, the packs still sell well, even the ones people complain about.
For example, if the Star Wars pack sells well what then becomes the excuse? Right now many people are convinced that there’s no way the SW pack will sell well, believing it to be basically an impossibility, however looking at existing gaming history or Sims history in general I wouldn’t be surprised if it does sell well which then brings us back to what excuse are these people going to come up with to try & validate themselves & their hate for the pack? “Oh well it was Star Wars so of course it sold.” or “EA is just saying it sold well.” because that’s what will happen. It’s extremely unlikely that those people are just going to come out & say “I was wrong.”
That first tweet is 100% how I feel. I wish they left it more open on the sci-fi space theme bc I love space, but if i reeaally want Yoda roaming the streets, I’ll make me an old, wrinkley, green hermit-guy or a territorial, aloof, green dog dang it…My opinion can only be swayed by space pirates existing. And Im talkin real “Argh” pirates, not just some “Im flying in uncharted territory” pirate. (Unless an actual pirate pack comes out- Ill gladly take that instead)
I really don’t like Star Wars it’s not my thing and it’s not some thing I want I love Harry Potter but I wouldn’t want to Harry Potter game in the Sims this crossover makes no sense the items we are getting in this pack will not do well in other packs there’s no replayability and it doesn’t look like a good pack there is what looks like one area where you can play and the rest are rabbit holes why would you buy this pack it looks
As someone said, I’m not thrilled with the crossing of universes. It would’ve been better to just have a spare game pack with planets than star wars. There are lots of star wars games already
I love it. And I want to buy it. But just game don’t understand why people will be upset about it. I mean like you can’t always have what you want in life. So i think that they just get over it.
I’m very happy for the fans of SW who will enjoy this because I’m sure it’s exciting for them. But it’s the major ignorance from the team when it comes to any other issue or idea and it’s being masked with “Hey here’s Star Wars! Everyone loves Star Wars, right?” Because this sucks majorly for someone like me who doesn’t like SW, the items are so niche that they will never fit in my game in any way. If it was at least just a simple space pack I could get on board with that. Because it would be me creating my own story. Versus making my own Star Wars story…
This pack is just fanservice. Sure, could have interest by itself, but you have to be a real fan of both worlds to find real fun. I don’t think that this pack were a necessary one, and options like a snow vacation or a kind of farm simulator could be better for a great part of the community.
Love Star Wars. Love the Sims from the very first game. But…. not combined. If I want a Star Wars game, I’ll go get a Star Wars game. If I want a Sims 4 pack, I get a sims 4 pack. Combining them, with completely different Lores, feels… well. Forced by the Mouse House.
I have always been a fan of the supernatural packs of Sims 3, it’s too bad they don’t port more of that. Yes, we got vampires, yes we got witches and mermaids, I’d love to see Zombies and Werewolves back, too. I would have loved to see farming, drivable cars and motorcycles, hotels, more world customisation tools, more hobby-packs (skating, bicycling, horses?), subculture packs (Goth/alternative/rapper themed), even more pets and babies would be more of that ‘slice of life simulator’ worth paying for than this upcoming pack.
Honestly, I think this is the first pack I think of NOT getting. It’s simply not Sims.
I like Star Wars, but literally anything would have been better than that, especially considering that there’s so much more interesting stuff that’s still missing (ie. werewolves, cars, more vacation spots, more hobbies). Sure, I want more stuff out of make-believe for the Sims, but this pack kind of feels like the Katy Perry stuff pack for TS3 – a complete disaster of two brands coming together for profit instead of for the players. The Sims is good at giving their own spin to ideas, this just feels like it was done for pure profit and screw the players. Maybe EA could start actually paying attention to what theirs players want instead of stuff like this? (Why does it feel like that is asking too much out of EA…?)
i’ll probably only buy it for the clothing and build/buy stuff not for the gameplay itself, i just hope there wont be aliens walking trough my worlds
I do not understand why they decided to do a Star Wars pack. I honestly don’t think it was fair. You have to like Star Wars in real life to like it in the sims. For example, university. Most people don’t like school in real life, but that does not mean you will dislike it in the sims. But Star Wars is the opposite. And as someone who is not interested in the Star Wars in real life, I was disappointed. The other reason it was weird is that there were so many other things they could have and should have done. Heres a few. Better baby gameplay, farming, bunk beds, teen proms and CARS!! Also they should have been working on skin tones not Star Wars. The sims is a game that represents life, so most people want more realistic gameplay. And Star Wars is the opposite of realistic. The last thing I’m gonna say is that the items are weird I will NEVER use them. EA, this was just the wrong time.
It’s a Star Wars theme park in The Sims 4 game. It’s not making Star Wars “real” within the world of The Sims.
Star Wars stuff already exists in The Sims 4 as well in the form of clothing in the Character Creation. There’s also a Baby Yoda decoration as well.
You’re also not taking into account that this pack was something EA forced the sims team to do & that the devs had no choice in the matter. EA has an exclusive contract with Disney to produce Star Wars related products.
As far as The Sims representing real life, it has Aliens, Vampires, Mermaids, Magic, Cow Plants, Robots & plenty of other things that make it highly fictionalized & this pack being a theme park, based off the real-life Star Wars theme park, makes it more realistic than the host of other things I just mentioned.
I don’t think this pack is meant to be a theme park. It is a story based pack, meaning it has a goal or a quest you have to achieve. A theme park would not have a problem you have to solve. I am aware that this was not the sims teams fault and that it was EA telling them to do it. I am not mad at sims and in my comment I did refer to EA not the sims team. I also do know that the sims has a lot of unrealistic gameplay, and I never said that it was not fun. But when you think of all the things that people are asking EA to put in the sims it all comes with realistic items and gameplay Like cars, more baby options, farming, prom, and bunk bed. All of which are things people have, can do or use in real life. Also, how often to you see a LP on any of those sims. People have also said multiple times that they don’t like vampires and all of those other sims you mentioned. I was NOT saying that everybody want realistic things, but a lot of people are mad because they added Star Wars instead of the packs we all want. And the Star Wars clothes we had before were costumes. And be honest how many times have you put them on your sims, my answer is never. The way i’m gonna end this is that this is my opinion on the pack and If you don’t agree with it, that’s fine. I just wanted to get my voice out there because I was not very pleased.
It is a theme park. It’s literally based off the real-life Star Wars Galaxy Edge theme park. It has the same layout as the park. It features characters created specifically for the park. The storyline presented in the trailer is the same storyline that people participate in when visiting the park in real life. The park, Galaxy’s Edge, had a planet designed specifically for the park to use as it’s location. That planet is Batuu. This pack is designed to not only push EA’s exclusivity deal with Disney but also meant to be a promotional tool for the Galaxy’s Edge theme park.
Also keep in mind The Sims 4 is 6 years old now & that this is literally the 35th pack for it. If EA & sims team aren’t delivering what you & other players are asking for & continue to not do that then stop supporting the game, stop supporting EA, & stop paying attention to it. At a certain point the responsibility falls on you to move on from the game.
I didn’t mean to be rude. All I was doing was putting my opinion out there. So, if you don’t agree fine, I don’t really care. I only wanted to express my feelings on the pack. BTW I think that theme parks would be awesome I the sims, but this is not what I think of when I thing of theme parks. I think of rides and other things like that. But, this is just my opinion. If you do buy the pack I hope you enjoy it. I will not be buying it.
(sorry I posted the same reply twice)

That’s the thing that annoys me the most about it, it’s just straight up and exact copy of Batuu. There’s ZERO creativity. Even the clothes options you get are just Cast Member costumes! And it’s impressive that they recreated it all that exactly, it’s just scummy and an ad. Considering this was in works and decided on pre covid, it’s just a push for park attendance and general star wars stuff. The concept of star wars should give them a chance to be so extremely creative, but instead it’s an exact copy. Even the “story” of the world to help one side or another and build reputation with the 3 factions, that’s just the gimmick of the park!
I am devastated! I am 50 and was well and truly around for the original onslaught of Star Wars! Don’t get me wrong if you like Star Wars, go for it! I play the sims and have been playing since the original Sims, when I heard it was Star Wars I truly decided my Sim days are over. I will play the Base game and all the packs right up to nifty knitting, but sorry EA this is a total rip off! You could have thrown anything else in the world at me as the next Game Pack. Except Star Wars!
Tell how sims crossed over to sims? Next Arthur Morgan will be running around Willow Creek.
Sorry I meant how did Star Wars cross over to sims.
I’m a fan of The Sims and a mediocre fan of Star Wars. Ever since The Sims first came out I have bought every since game, extention, stuff pack, etc. I think this new Star Wars game pack will not make it into the collection that I have. I was truly hoping for more traveling/vacation spots. The simple request that I’ve seen other Simers ask for shouldn’t be ignored. I know I’ve asked for something as simple as bring slow dancing back numerous time. Cars would be nice to have. More animals would be great, too. Even more plants and kitchen items. I understand the Gurus are working hard at providing us new content bust what happen to all those surveys they had us take? Should those ideas and concepts be taken into consideration before they do something so out of the ordinary? Just some food for though to you Gurus who read these comments and possibly listen. I love you guys for what you do and I love the Sims, but please be sure to actually listen.
Really people don’t like THIS but they LOVED KNITTING REALLY!? Only problem I have is it won’t really add anything new most of the abilities if we get any at all will just be the same abilities from the vampire and magic user abilities just reskinned.
Plenty of simmers play historical or family focused (though some players seem to forget this time and time again) so knitting didn’t come as a surprise as winning. Knitting fits as a stuff pack because it’s a little niche. Star Wars is also niche but coming out as a game pack which is where some of the annoyance is stemming from. It’s a cash grab as EA attempts to double dip without a care for the sims community. Unlike the knitting pack, star wars also has a lot of build and buy items shown that will stick out far more in a regular world so that is also a con for some people especially builders. Also, the haunted pack wouldn’t have faired well as a stuff pack since only one of the features would’ve been approved for the budget, not all of them like some people kept acting as if that were the case, and not every simmer enjoys supernatural focused packs.
I have to take it back to when we were voting for Nifty Knitting: Those knitted scarves on the quad statues – I had the opportunity to catch a sim knitting one. Once I saw in that survey that knitting won over some really interesting concepts, I truly started to believe that knitting was already picked regardless of how the fan base voted. I know of the survey last year and how SW was dead last but here I am not surprised that that pack is ready for release.
Late catching back up on Sims news (online learning for my kids, and getting plants & more ready for fall/winter). So I’ve been rather busy.
I’m disappointed tho.
EA itself already has MULTIPLE Star Wars games I saw on Origin, scrolling past them felt like forever.
Adding a whole SW pack to the game…just means waiting again for something else that’s useful and has real purpose to the game.
This pack, is Sucking up to Disney.
You somehow found the 5 positive comment and ignored the 100000 negative just so make the impression its balanced, nice try, still worst pack, I wouldn’t want it if they would pay me to play it.
well , i was exited about it – but its just boring – a few costumes some stuff a totally weird game story animation to play- thats it – nothing more! the modding community has better stuff than ea!
To whom it may concern I am not here to call myself dumping on anyone but I had to put some input on the latest add on to the Sims 4 Star Wars theme … ok 1st off Where is the fighting ?…the bombs blowing up stuff ,..laser fire… an for the love of GOD!… where is the THE FORCE You can not an I repeat CAN NOT hav a Star Wars game without being able to use THE FORCE!! And why oh why can’t you fight anyone with lightsabers outside your household?????????… what is the point having a Lightsaber if can’t challenge others…. now I think the story plot is your classic Choosing sides but missing major points to what S.W. Fans like me was missing please if there is a way to fix those issues I am CERTAN it will blow up like you guys hav never seen
Ty for your time
This is just goes to show you EA Doesn’t give a crap about the community or this game it’s all about $ and if this game pack that literally nobody asked for doesn’t sell they will be back on the no sims 5 bandwagon. Maxis should have never sold out.
I think I answered this on twitter, as some of the above responses were in the thread. I like SW but never bought a SW game. I just don’t see why they have not at least given a proper transportation pack with cars and horses lol! But now we have spaceships before cars! WHY? I mean the cart before the chariot. Oh well I still have my Sims 3 and I seen someone posted a new bug fixer-up!
ooo whats the mod? i kinda miss sims 3
It’s all well and good but still feels like there are better things they could have done. It feels so alienating for someone with disabilities, that a game who is so full on “equality” yet disabilities are so very ignored! I get that people play it to get away from disabilities but we get ignored in life enough so to see equality being added with the skin colouring (and too right to do) but still ignore the people who are disabled be ignored still. It hurts, it really does
I think it’s an intriguing pack. Gives me strangerville play vibes, but with potentially more ways to advance the storyline. I’ll be buying this and I’m hopefully it’ll have some cool aspects to it. It probably won’t become part of my legacy family playstyle, but it still looks like a fun pack.
Omg I am so exited for this pack it looks it looks So cool
It’s not really my thing, but we’ve gotten a lot of other cool packs, so if I miss buying one it’s not that big of a deal for me. Not exactly overjoyed, but in the long run I’ve got plenty of other packs to play with.
Lmao I liked how you went out of your way to find dominantly positive tweets and sprinkled in a few that were somewhat neutral. The majority view of this pack is negative. Look at the top comments on Instagram, YouTube and Twitter. Good to see you’re not biased
I’m kind of torn tbh. I like Star Wars and I think the game pack looks cool, but I don’t think the Sims really needs it. I feel like it’s definitely a cash grab :/ and it’s honestly disappointing. The Sims community have been asking for a ton of different packs and big fixes, and EA has kinda just ignored it all and been like “ok here’s climate change! here’s star wars!” when almost no one asked for it. I’ll probably play with it once or twice and then completely forget about it just like StrangerVille. I think there were and still are a lot of better things that could have been made into a game pack rather than Star Wars.
It must have been so time consuming to find those positive comments in between the thousands of negative ones. I don’t understand why all EA game changers are so reluctant to just say what it is – most people hate it. Hate it with a passion. People are disappointed in the development team and EA.
