Where do we even begin with this story?!

The rumor mill of The Sims Movie has been tossed around a couple of times over the last few years. Today, the mill seems to be put to a stop with an official insider confirmation about the live action movie adaptation being produced by one of the biggest names in Hollywood right now.

Let’s dive into the story and what we know so far about The Sims Movie, produced by Margot Robbie!

Live Action Sims Movie has a Team!

The story was first broken by Jeff Sneider on The InSneider with first details about the team working on this video game film adaptation.

The production company taking the challenge for creating a Sims Movie is called LuckyChap. Same production company that created Barbie, one of the biggest films released in 2023 with a box office currently running over $1.4 billion.

LuckyChap is ran by a professional team of writers and actors including Margot Robbie, Josey McNamara, Tom Ackerly and Sophie Kerr who will have the most say in creating of this film.

The screenplay of this movie will be written by Kate Herron and Briony Redman.

The creation of this movie will be helped along with the Vertigo Entertainment production company, featuring names such as Roy Lee and Miri Yoon. According to The Hollywood Insider, Electronic Arts will also be involved in the movie’s production and creative input.

Big Names, Big Expectations

Besides the surprising choice for Margot Robbie, who was both a producer and actor in the movie Barbie, there are also some other big names mentioned above that are involved in the making of this movie.

For example, Roy Lee has worked before on live action adaptations of Lego Movies. Kate Herron’s most recent successful work is Loki, one of the biggest Marvel shows that recently hit Disney+.

The production company LuckyChap isn’t just known for their work on Barbie. One of their most recent movies is Saltburn, an R-Rated black comedy thriller.

There are big chances you’ve heard some of these movies and names before. But if you haven’t, you’re going to hear a lot more about them soon as we update you on the news and developments of The Sims Movie.

What’s The Sims Movie About?

The details about The Sims Movie script are still a secret. Considering that we’ve just now gotten information about the big names working on this project, it might take some months before we get first details.

The Sims Franchise has been withstanding the trials and tests of time for over 20 years now. With The Sims 4 currently holding the rank for a game with the longest longetivity (and DLC content). It’s no surprise that EA would want to crank up promotion and excitement over their next Sims 5 game (also known as Project Rene for now). However, we didn’t even think of the game going to great lengths such as creating a full feature film.

The Sims Movie

I’ve enjoyed the works and films of the australian actress and producer Margot Robbie. So seeing her doing the big work on one of my favorite franchises has me intrigued! Let’s hope the movie will have its original Maxis charm to it, with possibly some cool easter eggs for the longtime players of this game.
