  • Death by Being Swarmed by Flies (Eco Lifestyle) – This Sim has found death via an angry swarm of Flies.
  • Death by Broken Heart (Lovestruck) – This Sim experienced the chaos that love can bring and died from a broken heart.
  • Death by Cow Plant (Base Game) – This Sim was eaten by a Cow Plant, and still feels a bit oddly towards plants.
  • Death by Drowning (Base Game) – This Sim drowned in a body of water and now has a fear of all water.

  • Death by Embarrassment (Base Game) – This Sim was mortified, and died of embarrassment. Literally.

  • Death by Fire (Base Game) – A fire claimed this Sim’s life, and now, the flames linger as a ghostly presence.
  • Death by Freezing (Seasons) – This Sim died from excessive exposure to freezing temperatures.
  • Death by Hunger (Base Game) – This Sim starved to death, and the hunger pangs have followed into the afterlife.
  • Death by Killer Chicken (Cottage Living) – Consider this the price paid for being nasty to a chicken.
  • Death by Killer Rabbit (Cottage Living) – This Sim provoked a killer rabbit and paid the ultimate price.
  • Death by Laughter (Base Game) – This Sim died from a fit of the giggles that continues to pop up now and then.

  • Death by Overheating (Seasons) – This Sim died from a prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
  • Death by Poison (Jungle Adventure) – This Sim died as a result of being poisoned.
  • Death by Pufferfish (City Living) – This Sim took their life in their mouth and ate a highly toxic fish.

  • Death by Steam (Spa Day) – This Sim died from excessive steam exposure and is constantly hot and dehydrated.
  • Death by Stink Capsule (High School Years) – This Sim met an untimely end in a Stink capsule explosion. The overwhelming fumes caused a fatal outcome. What a pungent way to go.
  • Death by Urban Myth (High School Years) – This Sim fell victim to an Urban Myth, dismissing the rumors until it was too late. While others might attribute the death to fear, only few know the real cause.
  • Death by Vending Machine (Snowy Escape) – This Sim couldn’t handle the crushing force of the vending machine and died as a result.
  • Death by Murder of Crows (Life & Death)

Ghost Overlay Toggle

There’s a new Toggle Ghost Overlay interface feature available in Create A Sim and Create A Pet. This feature lets you toggle between Ghost Forms and normal Sim previews to prevent additional distraction while making a Ghost.

Create Ghost Pets

The Sims 4 Ghosts Update added something extra for the owners of Cats & Dogs and Horse Ranch Expansion Packs. If you have either of these two Expansion Packs installed you’ll be able to apply a Ghost form to your pet instantly from Create A Pet.

You can only create Ghost Pets for the Elder life age. This applies to Cats, Dogs and Horses.

New Interaction for The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs

If you have The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs Expansion installed, you’ll be able to use a brand new interaction between Sims and Cats and Dogs. The “Ask to Fetch Gift from the Netherwold” interaction will send off your Pets to the world to bring back a gift.

It usually takes a couple of seconds before they’re back from the Netherworld with a treat for you in the inventory.

New Ghost Needs

The Sims 4 Ghosts Update brings new names to Ghost Needs, including:

  • Goo Waste – Bladder
  • Spooky Diversions – Fun
  • Ethereal Sustenance – Hunger
  • Ethereal Bonding – Social
  • Otherworldly Slumber – Sleep
  • Apparition Cleansing – Hygiene

The changes to these Needs are only text based and do not change any gameplay. The way your Sims 4 Ghosts level up their needs may differ in the Life & Death Expansion.

You can now customize any gravestone or urn in The Sims 4. Simply click on a Gravestone / Urn of your choice and select “Display…” interaction. From there you’ll be able to pick different variations, including Occult gravestones.

This selection of gravestones and urns is expected to be expanded with the upcoming addition of The Sims 4 Life & Death.

Becoming a Ghost Instantly

The choice is now yours to make between becoming a fully playable Ghost or sending your Ghost Sim to lie autonomously and pop out from time to time.

This new update to how you trigger playable The Sims 4 Ghosts makes it easier to newer lose your Sim again. Especially with the concept of rebirth coming in Life & Death Expansion.

  • Become a Playable Ghost – Remain a playable Ghost. This Sim will stay in the Household and continue to be playable as a Ghostly presence in the current Household.
  • Become a Freeroaming Ghost – This Sim becomes a Ghostly presence around the Household and in the World. They will no longer be playable.
