How to enable cheats in The Sims 4

PC / Mac

Before you enter any cheats, you need to enable cheats first.

To enable cheats on PC and Mac systems:

If you entered the cheat correctly, a message will appear under the cheat box informing you that cheats have been enabled.

Playstation

Reminder that enabling advanced The Sims 4 Life and Death cheats on PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles will permanently disable trophies on that save file!

To enable cheats on PlayStation 4 and 5 systems:

If you entered the cheat correctly, a message will appear under the cheat box informing you that cheats have been enabled.

Xbox One & Xbox Series X

Reminder that enabling The Sims 4 Life and Death cheats on Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles will permanently disable achievements on that save file!

Trait Cheats

The expansion pack brought 10 new traits to the game: 3 CAS traits, 3 reward traits and 4 grief-type traits. You can apply all of these easily to your Sim using The Sims 4 Life and Death Cheats!

Skeptical Sims don't trust everything they see and want to find solid proof of anything they're unsure of. The Skeptical trait is incompatible with the Macabre trait.

traits.equip_trait trait_Skeptical

Chased by Death Sims are, well, chased by death. If they're involved in any activities that could kill them, then it's unlikely they'll get away unscathed! Sims with this trait get to progress their soul's journey faster, though. Once your Sim dies, they will be Embraced by Death instead, making these situations amusing instead.

Macabre Sims enjoy all things that the darkness offers and aren't afraid of anything concerning death or the afterlife. It's not just a phase, Mom! The Macabre trait is not compatible with the Skeptical trait.

Grimborn is a reward trait - Sims acquire this trait if they are offspring of the Grim Reaper. Their lifespans are longer, and they have a scythe-shaped birthmark underneath their ear.

Grim Descendant is a reward trait - offspring of Grimborn Sims have this trait, but they don't have a longer lifespan.

Ghost Whisperer is a reward trait for completing the Ghost Historian aspiration.

Grief Trait Sims 4 Life and Death Cheats

Grief Traits can be added or removed with the following cheats:

Anger Grief

Sadness Grief

Denial Grief

Holding It Together: Grief

Equipping a grief trait will silently start a grief process, with all the gameplay associated with it. Grief can last 7 days maximum.

Skill Cheats

There's one new skill that comes with the Life & Death pack - the Thanatology skill. Thanatology is the scientific study of death, dying, grief, and loss, and how people deal with those types of experiences.

You can set your Sims' Thanatology skill using this cheat:

Stats.Set_Skill_Level Minor_Thanatology X (1-5)

Ghost Mastery Cheats

Ghost abilities can be unlocked using gained Experience Points in the Ghost Mastery panel. Use the following cheat to add Experience Points. Replace [number] with the desired amount.

stats.set_stat rankedStatistic_GhostPowers_GhostXP [number]

Below are the numbers you can enter to have your ghost be on a certain rank. The number in bold is the minimum amount required for the rank while the number below it is the halfway point (granting an additional Experience Point to spend).

Equip Ghost Mastery Powers

The abilities unlocked through Ghost Mastery can also be cheated on your Sim, even when they aren't a ghost yet.

First you will need to get your Sim's SimID. You can obtain it with this cheat:

sims.get_sim_id_by_name "[First Name]" "[Last Name]"

Do note that if your Sim's name contains spaces, you must put their name in quotation marks. So for example, Anna Lisa De Soto would be sims.get_sim_id_by_name "Anna Lisa" "De Soto". If your Sim has no last name (like pets), simply put "" on the last name part.

And now you have the necessary thing for this cheat:

bucks.unlock_perk [perk_name] true 40961 [SimID]

The cheats to unlock the ghost perks go as follows:

Unlock Ghost Ultimate Ability Cheat

You can use the following cheat to unlock the ultimate ability in either the good or evil branches. To activate it, you must use ANY good or evil ability once.

Good:

Stats.set_stat statistic_GhostPowers_Good 99

Evil:

Stats.set_stat statistic_GhostPowers_Evil 99

While setting it to 100 will immediately unlock the power, you will miss out on a few things like not unlocking the tattoo. Thus it is not recommended to set the value to 100.

Set Ghost Stamina

In order to use those powers from Ghost Mastery, your Sim needs Ghostly Stamina for it. As it declines, the ghost will not only be unable to use these powers, but also become even more see-through. While it is filled alongside other needs when a need filling cheat is used, with this cheat you can change it individually:

Stats.set_stat commodity_GhostPowers_Stamina [number]

The [number] goes from 0 to 100.

Career Cheats

There are 2 new careers for your Sims to try out from this pack! Use the following Sims 4 Life and Death cheats to apply career promotions (or demotions) to the new careers:

Undertaker Career

Promotion:

Careers.Demote careers_Adult_Mortician

Reaper Career

Unlock Career Outfits

To unlock the outfits from this pack earned from the new careers (like Reaper outfit or plague doctor mask), simply use this cheat:

cas.unlock_by_tag ep17

Set Soul's Journey Progress

While earning Satisfaction Points and completing Bucket List/Unfinished Business goals is one thing, there are cheats to set the Soul's Journey progress to whatever level you want! The cheat for it is the following:

stats.set_stat rankedStatistic_MovingOn_SoulsJourney [point amount]

There are 8 levels in Soul's Journey. The final two levels are unlocked once your Sim becomes a ghost. While even cheats cannot be used to earn these levels for non-ghost Sims, they will retain the levels should a Sim no longer be a ghost.

More Heirlooms!

You can mark any Heirloom Eligible objects important to your Sim as a heirloom to be able to pass it on, claim higher value, engrave messages, or even be summoned through it after death. However, there is a limit. Sims can only have up to 5 heirlooms, increased to 8 with Quite A Journey level in your Sim's Soul's Journey and to 10 with Materialistic trait (modifiers will not stack). But what if your Sim wants even more heirlooms?

Fortunately, there is a cheat to bypass the limit while keeping all the old heirlooms intact! For this, you can use this cheat:

stats.set_stat statistic_Heirlooms_NumHeirloomed 0

This will come at a cost of having the Will's Heirloom list to be long, but with almost infinite amount of heirlooms your Sim could have (especially after claiming higher value on them), it's worth it.

The Sims 4 Bucket List Cheats

You can use the following cheat to add specific Bucket List objectives to a Sim - make sure you have testingcheats enabled, then Shift + Click on your Sim and go to:

Pack Cheats > Expansion Packs > EP17 Life And Death > Add Unfinished Business Objective.

There, you can choose between all the Bucket List categories and pick whichever objective you would like to add to your Sim.
