Snow in Nordhaven – Seasons

Twitter user @SimsWorld_IT has shared a thread of cross-pack features present in The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack. This includes seasonal effects in Nordhaven. After last year’s snow debacle over on Twitter, it is nice to see seasonal compatibility make a return as Nordhaven takes most of its inspiration from Scandinavia which is known for its cold climate and shorter daylight hours in the winter.

Business Milestones – Growing Together

Esther milestones

Thanks to our very own Discord administrator Esther, we have tuning references for Businesses & Hobbies. This confirms that there are five new milestones included if you also own The Sims 4 Growing Together. These include:

  • Gave First Tattoo
  • Got First Tattoo
  • First Simoleon
  • Registered a Business
  • Sold a Business

University Classes – Discover University

@lunar_britney has confirmed that there will be two elective classes available for Sims at The University of Britechester and Foxbury University. These include both tattooing and pottery, both of which are new skills included with Businesses & Hobbies.

Hobby Vlogs – Get Famous

lunar_britney has also confirmed above that there are two new vlog types available with the video station and drones featured in The Sims 4 Get Famous. Sims can either vlog about pottery or tattooing and post them online for royalties. This could be an interesting and unique way to earn extra revenue (and fame) while you run your business!

Businesses in Apartments – City Living + Eco Lifestyle

SimsWorld_IT also confirmed via Twitter that you CAN run small businesses from apartments in both San Myshuno and Evergreen Harbour. You can assign spaces within your apartments as public, staff only, or residential as you would a small business lot type. This does not, however, apply to rental units from The Sims 4 For Rent Expansion Pack as those are classed as ownable businesses.

Future Cross-Pack Compatibility

Hopefully, the small business system will be updated as new packs are released. Maybe the much rumoured Bands pack will include the ability to have Sims perform on small business lots, however we do not have any concrete evidence on the packs existence yet.

Disappointed about the For Rent news. I wanted to create a row of small shops with rented flats above which is very common in Britain.

While I can understand the disappointment I’m actually glad they didn’t touch for rent. From what I’m seeing this pack doesn’t appear really that buggy but if they had incorporated for rent I feel it would’ve been very buggy for this dlc because of how buggy for rent has been since release. I hope they go back and revamp the system and combine what they did for dorms and small businesses so for rent can be less buggy because the system they use sounded good in practice but was badly executed.

I really commend the team who worked on this, THE definition of an EXPANSION pack, to EXPAND the features in the game. Now we just need this team to work on a new EP that is based solely on gameplay and without a new world being required, and we could have the best pack The Sims 4 has seen.

Yea I really want a fully focused pack on hobbies for children and up. No new world. Just use all the resources on new hobbies and cross compatibility. Maybe a new npc that’s for toddlers to obsess over like how Barney or Bluey is. So there’s a new channel, an outfit for them and they can meet the character with their family at a meet up. Just so the little ones aren’t completely ignored with hobbies as being a fan is a hobby of sorts.

I would like to see a pack that’s based on toddler and child siims where a new school is introduced. I would like for child sims to get a grade school diploma in order to graduate to high school. I would also like toddlers receive a certificate of completion in order to go to grade school. It’ll make aging up seem more meaningful. Use the same school system just expand on it for toddlers and child sims.

This pack is a shallow, overpriced, and buggy mess. Cross-pack compatibility shouldn’t come at the cost of new features. Boycott the Sims. They give us crumbs, and the community gobbles them up like famine-stricken peasants, rewarding EA for their laziness instead of demanding real innovation.

Disappointed that Dine Out wasn’t on the list for cross-pack compatibility

Agreed but it also sort of falls into my concerns with for rent. Dine out, wedding stories and for rent are the most buggiest dlc for sims 4 (if I’m recalling correctly) despite several fixes over the years compared to other packs so I’m actually glad they didn’t touch it similar to my views on for rent. It’s unfortunate though as that could’ve added more to the pack. But what is available is good though. This pack doesn’t seem to be that buggy so I’m very pleased.
