How To Take Care of Mii Needs in Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream

In Tomodachi Life Living the Dream, Miis are great at walking around and falling over and chatting about island lingo, but they’re not so great at the important stuff, like taking care of themselves. As their Overlord (or whatever you opted to have them call you), you’re responsible for managing Mii needs, from feeding them to fulfilling their aesthetic preferences to helping them out when they’re in a pickle. And if you take care of them successfully, there are rewards in store. Here’s how to identify what your Miis need and how to fulfill those Mii needs.

How To Tell When A Mii Needs Something

In Tomodachi Life Living the Dream, Mii needs are indicated in a few ways. The most common one is a yellow, orange, or pink frustration bubble that pops up above a Mii’s house or head. Yellow is a material or aesthetic need, orange is a friendship-related need, and pink is a romance-related need. Flashing shapes above a Mii can also indicate a Mii needs something.

You can also see when a Mii needs something by looking at the Mii icon in the bottom right. If there is a thought bubble with a number in it, one or more Miis need something (though it can also indicate a dream you can view).

Mii needs are indicated by thought bubbles or shapes above their heads.

What Happens When You Satisfy Mii Needs

Satisfying Mii needs can fill Miis’ happiness bars in Living the Dream, but it’s not guaranteed. For example, if you give them something they don’t like — food, clothing, or interiors — the request will still be fulfilled but they won’t gain much or any happiness. You do not have to satisfy their needs if you don’t want to, but it can benefit you to do so. Depending on what the need is and how successful you are at filling it, you may gain Warm Fuzzies and money.

Miis Want To Be Fed

Tomodachi Life Miis do not run well on empty stomachs, but don’t worry — they’ll let you know when they desire something tasty. A frustration bubble will show up and they’ll ask for dinner or tell you they’re hungry. All you need to do is give them a dish you already have or buy something from Fresh Kingdom food mart. Even if you don’t completely fill their stomach up (a lot of the snack-y foods don’t), the Mii need will be completed. Now, if you give them something they don’t like, their happiness can decrease. Though, because this is Tomodachi Life, it’s a guessing game on what Miis do and do not like. Good luck!

Miis Want To Be Stylish

A frustration bubble can also indicate that Miis want some new clothes. This bubble appears to be more common when they’re in their default clothes, but it can also come up when they’re wearing an outfit you bought for them. This is sometimes the case when they don’t like what you bought them. You can buy them a single piece of clothing, or a whole outfit, from Where and Wear to satisfy this Mii need. Miis may also ask if they can switch up their existing hairstyle, which you can oblige or reject. Rejecting does not have negative consequences.

Miis Want Interior and Exterior Decor

The default houses are pretty boring, so what a Mii needs might be a new house interior. Give them an interior (a room set or a wallpaper or flooring) you already have or purchase one that you feel fits their style at T&C Reno home supply. Miis may also want to add outside decor, like streets, lights, or benches. The only thing you need to do for outside decor requests is fork over some cash and the game will decorate for you. If you don’t like what your Miis are proposing, you can reject them too.

Miis Need Help After An Accident

Living the Dream Miis will get themselves into sticky situations, like falling over or freezing up or stuck with endless hiccups. They will need you to fix this, which you can either do yourself or get another Mii to come and help. It’s generally better to have another Mii assist for the sake of building relationships.

Miis Need Their Heads Cleared

Sometimes a Mii just needs you to clear their head. This starts a quick-time mini-game where you have to rapidly press on the objects in their head and clear them all in five seconds. If you’re successful, you’ll get the object — which can be anything from a Hercules Beetle to French Onion Soup — that was stuck in their head as a prize. If you’re not, you’ll still get a little happiness and a few Warm Fuzzies.

Frustration bubbles can also indicate a variety of relationship-related needs, including wanting to be friends with another Mii, wanting to move in with another Mii, wanting to talk to another Mii, or even looking for your advice on matters of the heart.

Considering you can add up to 70 Miis in Tomodachi Life Living the Dream, there are going to be a lot of Mii needs to be fulfilled. But the more needs you complete, the more your Miis and your island will level up, unlocking more objects, quirks, and decor to maximize the potential for chaos. After all, Living the Dream is as much about customizing your island as it is experiencing the unhinged cutscenes and Mii behaviors.
