The Sims Blog: Introducing The Sims 4 Moschino Stuff Pack

2

The Sims Team has published an official blog post, revealing The Sims 4 Moschino Stuff Pack and it’s release date!

The pack is set to release on PC/Mac on August 13th, while Console players will get to purchase the pack on September 3rd.

Simmers, after all that fun with the Freezer Bunny hoodie, you may be craving something even more fabulous. Well, look no further. The Sims™ 4: Moschino Stuff Pack* is coming soon to PC, Mac, and console! Not only will your Sims dress in Moschino-branded looks, but they’ll be able to work in totally new ways.

Passion for Fashion

Moschino is where pop culture meets the runway, and creative director Jeremy Scott is known for his tongue-in-cheek designs. So, where do we even begin with these special Sims outfits? Well, we can definitely start with the branded bomber jacket and orange boots. Or, the pink Mary Jane pumps. Or even the dress covered in Moschino bears! Plus, there are some sweet décor surprises waiting that you can use to accessorize your Sim’s photo studio.

You Betta Work

Speaking of photos, your Sim now has the chance to be a freelance fashion photographer. We’ve talked about the freelance career before, but the Moschino Stuff Pack offers something totally unique. Once your Sim takes on gigs, it’s up to them to complete tasks like taking photos of Sims in different outfits and getting photos approved by clients before the deadline. Level up your Photography Skill by taking lots of pics, using filters and backdrops, and even taking selfies with your Sim’s phone.

The Sims 4 Development Team is expanding after the recent success report

EA’s latest Q1 of Fiscal Year 2020 report came out yesterday is of huge significance for The Sims 4 and its future.

In case you don’t know, the report states that The Sims 4 grew its player base tremendously thanks to the Free Base Game promotion. Not only that but the promotion also grew the sales of Expansion Packs, Game Packs and Stuff Packs for up to 55% compared to Q1 of Fiscal Year 2019.

EA has promised that Fiscal Year 2020, which lasts from April 2019 to April 2020 will be the biggest year for the game yet, and it seems they’re acting on those words by expanding The Sims 4’s development team.

Just a few days ago Maxis’ Careers Page has been updated with up to 15 new job listings including multiple positions for Object Modelers, Concept Artists, Animators and more.

The Sims 4 Development Team is expanding after the recent success report

The same pattern occured with Apex Legends, a battle royale game which after its success has opened up a lot of new job opportunities for people to work on the game. The Sims 4 and Apex Legends are currently EA’s two biggest games at the moment.

So, what does this mean for the future of The Sims 4? Well it seems that they’re holding on to their promise to make Fiscal Year 2020 the biggest one for the game yet. With 15 new job positions which have been opened up just recently and the fact that The Sims Mobile’s Development Team at EA Rewdood has moved to work on The Sims 4 we could be seeing more content and packs not just in the next few months but in the next few years as well.

Here are the The Sims 4 job openings that are currently available:

  • 3 x Concept Artist
  • Assistant Producer
  • 5 x Object Modeler
  • Environment Artist
  • 2 x Animator
  • Technical Animation Director
  • Character Outsorcing Reviewer
  • Game Designer

EA promises Fiscal Year 2020 to be the biggest one for The Sims 4!

Electronic Arts has just released their Q1 of Fiscal Year 2020 report talking about the earnings and achievements that have been made over the last 3 months. In the report EA has talked about how The Sims 4 and Apex Legends are two of the biggest games for them at the moment, as well what their plans are for The Sims 4 in the future.

The earnings call also talked about how The Sims 4 has gotten over 7 million new players during their Free Base Game promotion in May!

In case you don’t know, EA’s Fiscal Year of 2020 has begun in April 2019 and ends in April 2020!

Check out the full transcript down below that’s all about The Sims 4:

Financial Results

  • We had a strong start to FY20, bringing rich new experiences to our growing communities for Apex Legends, EA SPORTS, The Sims and more,” said CEO Andrew Wilson.
  • During the quarter, The Sims 4, expansion packs and game pack downloads increased 55% year-over-year.

Prepared Remarks

  • Our Sims 4 live service also continues to be a rich and rewarding experience for our players, and a strong platform for growth. The Sims 4 continues to be one of the great owned IP success stories of our portfolio, and we’re planning for FY20 to be our biggest year yet of new content. Knowing that, we gave more fans a chance to get into the game through a one-week promotion in May to download the base game for free. Almost 7 million players downloaded the game during that time. In addition to the base game promotion, total expansion and game pack downloads also increased 55% year-over-year in Q1. We launched our seventh expansion pack – Island Living – in late June, and it has already become one of our best-selling packs for The Sims 4. We are fortunate to have an incredibly vibrant and creative Sims community on console, PC and mobile, and we are continuing to double down on this amazing franchise to reach new players and open up exciting new dimensions of The Sims this year.
  • Mobile continues to be a growth opportunity for us. Live services are a key aspect of our mobile business, with franchises like Madden Mobile, FIFA Mobile and The Sims continuing to drive strong ongoing engagement.
  • Live services net bookings were up 12% year on year, to $504 million, led by Apex Legends and The Sims 4. FIFA Ultimate Team was up 11% year on year at constant currency, 5% at actual exchange rates.
  • Finally, as Andrew mentioned, The Sims 4 base game promotion delivered nearly 7 million new installs and we remain on track to have the fifth consecutive year of growth in The Sims 4, following its launch in 2014.
  • We continue to expect The Sims 4 and Apex Legends to each deliver net bookings in the $300 million to $400 million range.

Earnings Call Q&A

Blake J. Jorgensen – Electronic Arts Inc. – COO & CFO

Obviously, Sims, we’ve called out that it’s in the same range of $300 million to $400 million. We didn’t do that before, but we wanted to remind people that our business is not based on Apex Legends alone. It’s very important to us, but it’s still a relatively small part of our overall business. And franchises like The Sims have been continually producing that range of revenues because we run them as a live service. And we want to make sure people understand, we have confidence in building a live service around Apex and that will continue to grow over time and we’ll continue to update you as we learn more.

Andrew Wilson – Electronic Arts Inc. – CEO & Director

A community like The Sims has a longer cadence flow. Again, we’re set to have the biggest year in terms of content release this year, and we’ve continued to grow that franchise since launch, but it is not typically a weekly cadence of content because it doesn’t make sense for that community.

The same is true for The Sims, which launched in 2014. We get smarter and better in terms of understanding how to fulfill the motivations and the desires of our players. And we expect that we’ll continue to learn and get better with Apex as well.

Jeffrey A. Cohen – Stephens Inc., Research Division – Analyst

Thanks for the incremental color on The Sims. It feels like that franchise would be one that would do really well on the Nintendo Switch. So I’m curious how you guys determine which platforms you’d bring the game to or games to? And is there any reason why you wouldn’t want to bring that one on there?

Andrew Wilson – Electronic Arts Inc. – CEO & Director

Any time we’re evaluating platform conversations, we are really looking at a couple of things. One, does the game really fit the profile of that platform in terms of the control or the community ecosystem? Two, do we think the community playing on that platform would appreciate the game to go there? Or would they prefer to play it somewhere else? We have a lot of data that would suggest a great many Switch owners also own a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One or a PC and very often choose to play the games that we make on those platforms even though they have a Switch and they enjoy a lot of great content on the Switch. And so there’s always an evaluation process that goes on a case-by-case basis. And I wouldn’t say that The Sims would never go to the Switch, but I think we’re doing really, really well attracting Sims players. As we said, we did the promotion in the last couple of months and brought in 7 million new Sims players that we expect will engage in that community on a platform that is really tailored to user-generated content, creativity and customization.

The Sims 4 Console: New Update + Patch Notes! (July 22nd, 2019)

ts4logo

The Sims Team has released a brand new Update for The Sims 4 for Console devices – Xbox One and PS4!

Patch Notes

Here we are, once again. This time we don’t have pages and pages of new features coming with this update but we do have some rather important fixes.

General Issues

  • There is a saying that when a door closes a video game shouldn’t. I’m sure it is something like that. Anyway, we took that deep and profound message to heart and now you shouldn’t see your game close while in build mode.
  • Toddlers love toys, sometimes they were loving them so much that they wouldn’t let them go leading to all other kinds of problems. Now, toys and books will be put down now and then, although being toddlers they might not be where you want them, put away neatly. Watch where you walk as standing on toys can hurt!
  • During loading of a save game, you may have seen a message with Error Code 134. Your save games won’t do that anymore.

Island Living

  • Sometimes you want to lounge by the water, or in the water. If you choose to have your Sim relax with a lounger in the water, loading your Save Game would take an excessive amount of time. Loading should be back to normal and your Sim gets to enjoy the waves at their feet.
  • We don’t pretend to understand how Mermaid genetics work but we definitely knew they weren’t working as expected. This should be more like you’d expect when you get new arrivals into the family.

Vampires

  • Vampires seemed to be confused about how to use Dark Meditation and Influence Emotions, and they wouldn’t be able to do it. We took them into a dark place and explained the situation – now they can do both, putting them onto the path of the most powerful Vampire ever!

The team is busy reviewing all other feedback and working on the next update which we’ll have more details on soon.

The Sims: Play With Life Official Video

12

The Sims Team has released their Play With Life Promotional Trailer where Simmers share their own stories and experiences, as well as how the game influenced their life. Check it out!

The Sims Team is changing its new load screen following health concerns

The Sims Team has decided to adjust part of its new redesign in light of numerous complaints about health hazards due to the harsh contrasting colour scheme.

Players with a wide array of neurological and/or visual impairments have been reporting adverse reactions to the new look, particularly the new load screen. Migraines, headaches, nausea, dizziness, and sensory overload causing physical pain and discomfort have been reported by a large number of players.

Yesterday, @EAHelp on Twitter acknowledged these concerns in a tweet, saying that they are aware that the loading screen is a health issue for some people and that the team is currently reviewing it to see what changes can be made.

Today, @SimGuruFrost tweeted out an announcement saying that the loading screens will be changed in the next update in August and even provided comparison photos of the difference. The new loading screens will feature a much darker blue that does not contrast as harshly with the spinning green plumbob as the previous brighter blue.

Players with sensory, neurological, and visual impairments will be able to enjoy their games pain-free again soon.

SPECULATION: Is The Sims 4 University coming soon?

49

Please note that this post is pure speculation and doesn’t contain any official confirmation from The Sims Team!

Yesterday The Sims Team has uploaded all of the Sims that are being used for The Sims 4’s new branding. More specifically you can see these Sims on the official social media outlets as well as The Sims 4’s new box art cover:

SPECULATION: Is The Sims 4 University coming soon?

One Sim that specifically stands out with her backstory is the female Sim rocking a green sweatsuit on the top right corner. Check out what the description has to say about this Sim named Morgan Park:

Morgan is all-in, all the time. Driven by her life-long love of sport, Morgan believes life is meant to be lived, not spent behind a desk. She’s always up for any adventure her friends suggest, and always pushes herself to do more. With her track and cross-country scholarships, she was always a top performing athlete at university. She’s currently training for her first Iron Man competition, which means a lot of time in the pool and on a bike.

SPECULATION: Is The Sims 4 University coming soon?

As you can see, Morgan Park’s backstory mentions that she has a cross-country scholarship and that she was a top performing athlete at the university. Not only that but the description also mentions bikes!

Now, you’d probably think that the creator of these backstories may have gotten carried away a little bit. However, there’s more.

There’s a Sim named Dela Ostrow who also has an interesting backstory. Check it out:

As a kid, Dela lived all over the world, shadowing her mum—a globally sought-after fashion photographer. That experience gave Dela an inherent sense of optimism and a deep entrepreneurial spirit. She recently launched her first fashion line, and her unique pieces and global style is starting to get press. Her girlfriend Mia—a designer in her own right—helps keep her informed of trends outside the fashion industry.

SPECULATION: Is The Sims 4 University coming soon?

Her backstory mentions her mother being a fashion photographer – something that’s been confirmed to be coming with the upcoming The Sims 4 Moschino Stuff Pack.

Currently we don’t have any official proof that The Sims 4 University is next in line. Still, these backstories could be onto something. Each backstory for these new Sims contains at least a few gameplay elements that we currently have in the game. For example, Mia Hayes is a freelance programmer, Sydne Wright has the bussiness career assigned, Hunter Evans is focused on growing his social media presence and more.

Except for  Morgan Park and Dela Ostrow who could be hinting at what’s to come to The Sims 4, all of the other Sims have a backstory that feature gameplay elements we currently have – described more or less ambitiously than it actually is in the game.

This could be just an overly ambitious description that was written for Morgan Park but it could also mean that the team is purposefully hinting that The Sims 4 University is coming. After all, Maxis is probably aware by now that the entire community has been screaming “University” for months and they probably wouldn’t write up something like this if they’re not planning to release it.

I don’t know – just my guess. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The Sims features an LGBTQ+ couple on a game cover for the first time ever

18

The Sims is a video game that is known for its diversity and representation of all players, and Maxis continues to prove that with their latest move.

Ever since the announcement about The Sims 4’s rebrand many have been speculating whether the two Sims featured on The Sims 4 Base Game’s new box art are a lesbian couple or not. You can see the couple on the bottom left corner of the box art:

The Sims features an LGBTQ+ couple on a game cover for the first time ever

The speculation has come to an end the very moment after The Sims Team uploaded all of the Sims from the box art to The Gallery. Each Sim has its own backstory, including the two Sims on the bottom left corner.

Meet Dela Ostrow (the Sim with the purple hair) and Mia Hayes (the Sim with the blue beanie):

Dela Ostrow: As a kid, Dela lived all over the world, shadowing her mum—a globally sought-after fashion photographer.

Mia Hayes: With a head for numbers, and a creative eye, Mia splits her time between freelance programmer and artist gigs. Being both a bit of an introvert, and a bit of a rebel, this independence suited her outlook in life. Mia has a unique way of attracting creative, high-energy friends like Noah, and her girlfriend Dela. They love her genuine, almost kid-like enthusiasm. She is the glue that bonds her social circles together.

The Sims features an LGBTQ+ couple on a game cover for the first time ever

This is the first time that The Sims Team added an LGBTQ+ couple on one of their game covers. Previously if a game cover or a promotional render were to feature a couple it would strictly be a couple that consists of two Sims of the opposite sex.

The Sims features an LGBTQ+ couple on a game cover for the first time ever

The Sims Team never shies away from LGBTQ+ representation in the game. From The Sims 4 CAS Gender Update that happened in June 2016 to adding various LGBTQ+ Pre-Made Sims, the team has definitely done a lot to make sure that this community feels welcome and correctly represented. However, the latest change of The Sims 4’s box art could be one of their biggest moves yet to do so…

The Sims Blog: The Sims 4 is Getting Updates

The Sims Team has released a brand new blog talking about their brand redesign, the latest update and more coming down the line for The Sims 4’s fifth anniversary!

Hello, Simmers!

The Sims 4 has evolved and grown so much over the past few years, and is healthier than ever. We’re very committed to this passionate community and to welcoming new players. So, we’re excited to announce that The Sims 4 is getting a facelift with new cover art, Sims and outfits, and a brand-new Plumbob. We want to approach our fifth anniversary with a fresh paint job and we cannot wait to show you what’s coming next. In-game updates will come first to PC and Mac, followed by console next month. Check out some of the artwork you’ll see appearing in stores and online.

As you can see, the familiar blues and greens appear in different shapes and patterns across the packs. We’ll use these elements in many ways to bring a bright, bold statement to our Sims trailers, images, and the redesigned icons.

You will see the influence of this style in an updated main menu, where you can now view trailers and link directly to our official social channels. Plus, you’ll get a chance to create and play with the fresh cast of characters through Create A Sim and The Gallery.

We’re delighted to bring you this new look for The Sims 4 and want to thank you for being an important part of The Sims!

If you have any questions about these changes, please check out the FAQ section here.

Happy Simming!
