The Sims 4 Seasons Blog: Spring Into Action With Seasons

The breeze is blowing. Pollen count is high. Sneezing is in full effect. It must be spring in The Sims 4™ Seasons Expansion Pack!* Curious about some of the fun you can expect in the spring and summer months? Read on, dear Simmers. It’s about to heat up with two of the four seasons.

When it Rains, it Pours

Okay, let’s talk weather. Wait, what’s that sound? Plink. Plink. Crackle-crackle-boom! A thunderstorm? Yes, a thunderstorm!  And thunderstorms tend to make Sims very tense. Yikes! Take cover and smile through your tears because, hey, these things happen.

The moral of this short story is: before planning anything, it’s always good to check the conditions. And for some added protection, Sims can take cover from drizzles and downpours or pop open an umbrella. Of course, they can always jump into a puddle, too! But watch out for that lightning. Sims caught in a storm for too long risk injury or even a visit from the Grim Reaper. Ouch. What a way to go.

It’s Getting Hot in Here

When summer comes around, it will be hot hot hot! And not in a woo-hoo kind of way. Make sure to change Sims into their summer outfits or they’ll risk overheating. And, what better way to cool down than take a dip in the pool? Last one in is a . . . painfully uncomfortable Sim. Little ones will love splashing around in the new toddler pool, too. Plus, there’s a swing set that’s sure to bring some lasting summer memories.

And while we’re on the subject of weather conditions, we should probably tell you about the thermostat, which will regulate temperatures inside your Sims’ homes. When we say regulate, that could really mean anything to you. Make a cheating boyfriend sweat it out, make a family want to huddle together to survive the cold. Ah, so many trolling possibilities. It’s hard to choose just one.

We hope you’re warming to the idea of The Sims 4 Seasons Expansion Pack, releasing June 22, 2018 on PC and Mac.

SimGuruGrant debunks a crazy rumor about why Burglars are not in The Sims 4

Back in September 2017 we reported about a post that was written on The Sims Forums, where a person claimed that they have insider information about why Burglars are not added to The Sims 4. The forum poster claimed that the main reason why the team didn’t include them in the game is because burglars might “trigger” sensitive players.

However, SimGuruGrant has just recently addressed this information, saying that the only true reason why burglars are not in the game is because they haven’t made them yet.

There goes another rumor straight into the hoax trash bin! 🙂

The Sims 4 will have new content “for years out”

25

The Sims 4 has been out for quite some time now and many are left wondering about the future of the game and will it have new content.

A person on twitter asked SimGuruGrant, the lead producer of The Sims 4 if The Sims 4 Seasons Expansion Pack going to be the last pack released for The Sims 4. Not only did SimGuruGrant reassure everyone on Twitte rthat Seasons is not the last pack, but he also provided a piece of information saying that he’s working with The Sims Team on content for years out.

In case you don’t know Grant Rodiek also talked about the future of The Sims 4 back in December 2017, vaguely talking about the plans for this year:

We’re at the point now where it’s fun, where we have all the scary features out of the way, all the big requests out of the way, finally released toddlers for our fans and so now we can sort of focus on making fun stuff. It’s not that it’s easier – it’s more ‘wouldn’t it be cool if?’ content. It frees us a bit.

Historically, after pets people are like: ‘Okay, we did the big pack, now we’re going to think about something else. I want players to still be around because we are still making killer content. We’re not going away. Pets is the biggest one but we’re not going to dial it back. Some of the stuff we are thinking about is pretty ambitious, it’s also fresh twists on old things and so I am hoping that people see Pets as the start of the second wave, not the end of the cycle. I want to do more content, keep upping the bar, more free content. Those are things that are super important to us and we have been talking about stuff for next year for ages already because we want it to be super good. There’s crazy long cycles. Next year I want people to be like: ‘Wow, I can’t believe you’re doing all this stuff’. Next year we’ll be four years old and still here.

Considering that The Sims 4 Seasons Expansion Pack is releasing in less than a month after its announcement, could it be that there’s a lot more in plan for this year? Anywho, we’re really excited for the future of The Sims 4 and can’t wait to see what content they’re planning for upcoming years.

The Sims 4 Seasons: Multiple Death Types Confirmed

SimGuruEmory confirmed that there are going to be multiple death types included in The Sims 4 Seasons Expansion Pack. Although he didn’t give away every single death type included in this pack, he did tease a death by freezing + confirm that Sims can die from lightning strikes.

We’re really concerned about Snow in The Sims 4 Seasons

UPDATE: SimGuruKate has tweeted that the team is aware of the comments on the snow and that, although they can’t share much yet, Seasons has much more to offer than what was shown in screens / trailer.

The Sims 4 Seasons Expansion Pack has finally been revealed to the world yesterday. Yes, we’re definitely liking what we’re seeing so far about the game but one aspect is definitely itching our eye…

If you’ve played The Sims 2 Seasons Expansion Pack then you probably know that snow in this pack had 2 depths – light and deep. The deep layer of snow made it so that any object (or Sim) placed outside had a realistic look of being deep inside of snow. Sims that are standing inside the deep snow don’t have their feet shown. Well, not until you hover over with the X-Ray cursor in case you ever had it enabled, but you definitely get the point.

We’re really concerned about Snow in The Sims 4 Seasons

The Sims 3 Seasons offered a similar experience, although it provided players with a whole gradient of different snow depths. As expected, all objects and Sims found outside would have their feet / bottom part of any object inside of snow.

We’re really concerned about Snow in The Sims 4 Seasons

However, it seems that The Sims 4 Seasons Expansion Pack is doing things…differently. In assets that we’ve seen so far, all Sims and objects are “floating” above snow with not much information on how that snow is actually deep.

We’re really concerned about Snow in The Sims 4 Seasons

In previous Sims games we were able to build a snowman only with a deeper level of snow. In the image below, you can see two Sims building a snowman with snow on the ground that shows no information on how deep it actually is. We can assume that there’s enough snow for Sims to build a snowman, but no matter what the conditions are Sims and objects always seem to float above snow.

We’re really concerned about Snow in The Sims 4 Seasons

Another screenshot released by SimGuruGeorge shows a house in Windenburg covered in snow. Although at first it may look like there’s a lot of Snow going on the roof, there’s nothing much but an optical illusion giving you a feel that there’s a layer of snow when actually it looks like some additional shadows were added on particular angles of the roof.

We’re really concerned about Snow in The Sims 4 Seasons

Is snow in The Sims 4 Seasons nothing but a cosmetic paint added to terrain, plants and objects? We’re still looking for answers and will let you know as soon as we know more information.

The Sims 4: Seasons Mods for your Base Game

Can’t wait for The Sims 4 Seasons? These Mods will help you make the countdown ’till June 22nd go much faster! I’ve tried to include one for each season as best I could, so here are some brilliant Seasons Themed Mods:

First Snow

One of the most popular mods for Seasons out there right now is the First Snow Mod! It was created by Sim Cookie in 2015. Although the Mod won’t be having any more updates it does still work for most worlds. The mod doesn’t allow you to make snowmen or snow angels but the transformation of the worlds are stunning.

The mod itself changes the textures of the worlds to snow and creates a winter wonderland, here are some screenshots of the Cats & Dogs world, Brindleton Bay:

Life is a Beach

The next mod is Life is a Beach by Fernando. This mod doesn’t change the season as such but it’s the closest to a Summer season we can get. This mod changes Outdoor Retreats ‘Granite Falls’ into a Beach destination.

‘Did you ever dream about sending your Sims on vacation to a beachy rental house? You can really run wild with your creativity – especially with the already existing additions to The Sims 4. Use The Sims 4 Spa Day to build up a spa featuring saunas and yoga mats in Granite Beach or hit the dancefloor in the new tiki bar using The Sims 4 Get Together.’

I added it to my game, changed the log cabins into Beach houses from the Gallery and Granite Falls became Granite Beach! Here are some Screens from my little Holiday:

Animated Rain & Snow

The next Mod is some Animated Rain and Snow by SnowHaze. This mod adds a sheet of falling rain or snow, it can be found in fountain features in Build Mode. It’s more a Mod for those who want to take Seasons screenshots and perfect for storytellers! Though it only covers an area about 1×6 as long as you add many to the lot you’re taking screenshots on, it looks amazing. It goes well with the Snow and Autumn mod.

Here are some screenshots:

Autumn

Last but not least is the Autumn mod by Dani Paradise, it turns the worlds of The Sims 4 into Autumn amazingness. Honestly, I think I might keep this mod in for a while as it made me gasp with excitement when I loaded into my save. The mod works for most worlds and also a few stuff packs that include outdoor themed plants. It’s perfect for those who have Spooky Stuff to really bring in that Halloween vibe. Here are some screenshots of the mod in work:

So, Will you be giving any of these mods a try? Let us know in the comments or on our Social Media pages!

The Sims 4 Seasons Blog: Meet The Climates

2

Via TheSims.com!

Hello, Simmers! We’re thrilled to finally announce The Sims™ 4 Seasons Expansion Pack.* Not only is it a fan favorite and the second-most requested behind The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs,* but it’s a favorite for many of us on the team. The Sims 2 Seasons was the third pack I made in my career and it has always been near and dear to my heart.

A pack as amazing as The Sims 4 Seasons needs some outside-the-box thinking. It’s a foundational pack that helps players tell stories as the weather, holidays, and seasons affect the daily lives of Sims. Speaking of stories, in the weeks ahead, we’re going to introduce you to the Climate family and share a year in their lives. Curious about that name? Rumor has it that Climate is a very traditional name from San Myshuno. The more you know!

The Sims 4 Seasons Blog: Meet The Climates

The Climates are your typical family. Janine Climate a.k.a. Mom loves being bundled up, which is why the arrival of Fall and cooler weather is her favorite part of the year – and where we’ll start our story. Go, Mom!

Arthur Climate a.k.a. Dad loves the cooler weather and the rain, so we’ll be kicking off his story in the Spring. As the snow recedes, so do the homebound activities set upon us by coldness. A new day, a new way to enjoy the outdoors!

Summer Climate loves… Any wild guesses? If you said summer, then my friend, you are correct. With fiery red hair to match the burning sun, will her rebelliousness get the best of her, or will she lay by the pool all season? Stay tuned!

And finally, winter. We can’t say much about winter, except that it may bring some unexpected family members. This is a spoiler-free introduction, so we’ll leave it at that.

We’re going to show you a year in the life of this family with lots of goodies from the pack, but it won’t stop at The Sims 4 Seasons. You’ll meet more characters, features, and elements from the full The Sims 4 catalog. We want to show you how much Seasons enhances The Sims 4 and why we think it’s one of the best experiences we’ve ever made.

We hope you join us for a year of the Climates, and we’d love to see you make it your own! The characters will be available in the Gallery and will require The Sims 4 Seasons to play. From there, as always, the story will be yours. Will you change the storyline, throw in some plot twists, or change the Climates entirely?
