The latest gameplay trailer for The Sims 4 Vampires Game Pack brought a small look into Create A Sim and what it brings. Down below you can see a breakdown by sims-blog.de of some of the new items shown in the trailer, including eye colors, face details and other items.
The Sims 4: Toddler Reward Traits
Beside the 8 Traits that you can pick in Create A Sim, Toddlers also get to earn 2 Reward Traits that you will transfer in the Children life stage. Here’s how you can earn them!
Happy Toddler
The Happy Toddler trait is rewarded to a child who just aged up from a toddler life stage who had all 5 toddlers skills (Imagination, Communication, Thinking, Movement and Potty) to at least Level 3.
Your Sim got a good jump on skills as a toddler. This helps them gain all skills a bit faster.
Top-Notch Toddler
The Top-Notch Toddler is a reward trait rewarded to a child who just aged up from a toddler life stage who had all 5 toddler skills maxed out to Level 5 (except for potty skill whose maximum is level 3).
Your Sim got such a strong jump on skills as a toddler, they improve all other skills extra fast.
The great thing about these reward traits is that the effort you put into your toddlers will influence the gameplay of your Sim as he/she grows up – meaning that, if they have any of these 2 traits, their skills will build faster than usual.

James’ The Sims 2 Thoughts: The Sims 2 Bon Voyage (2007)
Get ready for the trip of a lifetime! On September 4th 2007, Sims 2 Bon Voyage was released!
Now, I did not get this expansion when it was released in 2007. The first time I personally played it was in 2014, when EA was doing a free promotion for the sims 2 and I was lucky enough to receive the pack.
When I started playing with it, I was amazed on how much better it was than Sims 3 World adventures.
To me, World Adventures seems too… linear. What I mean is that it doesn’t feel as open ended. It’s almost like the game in World Adventures forces you to complete tasks, and quests and all that jazz. Bon Voyage, to me, just feels a lot more open ended and more like a legit sims game.

In the expansion, you have 3 different worlds to experience. Each world has a theme.
- Takemizu Village,
- Twikkii Island,
- Three Lakes
The first one has a theme that is similar to a Far East vacation.

The second has to deal with a tropical paradise. And lastly

the third feels like a rocky mountain escape in the woods.

Each sub- neighborhood has plenty of resorts to chose from, all being rated by how many days you stay (No visa points here, thankfully!) There are actions and NPC’s that you can only find in the sub neighborhoods. The same goes with collectibles and gifts that your sims can buy, either at the hotel or resort they are staying at, or by means of a community lot.
Sims can go on tours, which is when your sims leave, and you are given a series of chance cards. Depending on what actions you choose on those chance cards, the tour may be really good, or… be bad.
When you return from your getaway, Sims also gain temporary Vacation Benefits after they return from a good vacation, or receive negative benefits if the vacation was bad. Sims can also teach their friends about the culture and show them cool things from where they were just visiting.
Again, this pack added so many new elements to the game. And it is always fun to see what king of mischief your sims can run into. Who Knows, you might just run into someone rare!
Next week, its all about hobbies and relaxing, with my take on the Sims 2: Freetime.
The Sims 4: Toddlers Update brings lots of Simmers back!
After the launch of The Sims 4 Toddlers Update on January 12th, many Simmers who didn’t play The Sims 4 for a very long time decided to give the game another chance as the new life stage brings plenty of new gameplay.
Current amount of active online users playing The Sims 4.

After reading the comments on Facebook and Twitter, some Simmers didn’t play The Sims 4 for months (even years) due to lack of family gameplay (mostly because there were no Toddlers). Some of them even mentioned that they had to go back to The Sims 3 because the Legacy Challenge is far more enjoyable when you have toddlers. Thanks to the Toddlers Update, many of them came back.
What’s really interesting is that The Sims 4 had this amount of online active players only in the week of the launch (September 2nd, 2014). There were updates like Pools, Ghosts and CAS Gender tools which brought a few thousands of simmers back to the game, but that didn’t last long.
Here’s an example of active online users on the weekend of CAS Gender Tools update, which was HEAVILY followed by gaming websites and other general media:

The Sims 4 Vampires: New Gameplay Trailer
The Sims Team released a brand new 30-second gameplay trailer for The Sims 4 Vampires Game Pack!
The Sims 4: Builders are not forgotten!
There’s no denying that The Sims Team is very generous recently in terms of new gameplay for The Sims 4. Problem is, some players who prefer building over playing The Sims 4 still find that the Build Mode is lacking some content and features.
SimGuruHouts wrote a quick post saying that they didn’t forget about builders and that they have a list of build-related features that they want to add to the game.
We have a list of build-related stuff we want to add to the game. Can’t give more details or timelines for when you’ll see stuff, but hang in there, I promise you haven’t been forgotten!
After the Toddlers update, it certainly feels like The Sims Team is actually listening to us. Let’s hope that they continue with this overwhelming generosity and deliver great build content in 2017!

The Sims 4: Toddlers Custom Content already available
It didn’t take CC creators too long to figure out how to create Custom Content for toddlers!
Sims4Studio, one of the main tools that Custom Content creators use to create CC has been updated recently for The Sims 4 Toddlers update.
The new version also has the ability to blank out unwanted CAS bumps, speculars, shadow maps, and emission maps with one click. There is a new cheat code that allows read-only previews of all CAS and object items.
Here are some of the hairstyles that I find really adorable:

The Sims 4 Toddlers Update Overview: Skills, Needs and Traits!
Toddlers in The Sims 4 are already bringing the well-deserved hype to life, they are no longer the doll like sims in Sims 3 but now an exciting addition to the family.

Skills
Of course being a toddler is the most important stage in Sims life where they learn new things and explore the world! So of course, your toddler will have some skills to learn!
Overall, like children, there are 4 main skill types:
- Communication: “Talking is a huge step for any Toddler. Communication skill teaches Toddlers advanced socials. Improve it by talking with others, and studying advanced Flash Cards.” They can learn communication via Flash Cards (Taught by the parent or carer), Talking with Teddies or other Sims and using their Toddler Tablet watching Toddler Videos.
- Imagination: “Toddlers with Imagination play with their own world. Imagination skill teaches Toddlers to read and create fantastical worlds with their toys. Gain Imagination skill by playing with Toys and Dolls, listening to music, or looking at Toddler Books.” They can learn Imagination by playing with doll houses, toys, using their Tablet playing Draw with Llama, watching the TV and reading with a parent or by themselves.
- Movement: “Toddlers who focus on Movement really get around. Movement skill helps toddlers walk faster, run, climb stairs and dance, dance, dance. Improve it by walking around, building with Nesting Blocks, dancing, or via Play wrestling with adults.” They can learn this skill by walking around, playing with adults, dancing, playing with blocks, playing Blicblock Baby on their Toddler Tablet and climbing stairs.
- Thinking: “Thinking Skill helps toddlers throw fewer tantrums and be more capable of taking care of themselves. It reduces defiance, and helps to solve needs. Thinking Skill is improved by being curious, or by playing with Flash Cards, Nesting Blocks, or the Tablet.” Toddlers enhance their thinking skill by using the Flashcards with a Sim, using ‘what’s this?’ on items, using the Blocks to make shapes and playing on the tablet game Play SimShape.
But also, there is an extra skill:
- Potty: “Toilet training makes dirty diapers a thing of the past. Potty skill teaches toddlers to use the Potty Chair. Improve it by having an adult Train the toddler.
Needs
Again, like any other sim, a Toddlers needs come first. Here’s a rundown of how to satisfy them and what can make them negative:
- Bladder: Use the diaper by clicking on the toddler or potty train on the potty chair with an adult Sims help. Once the Toddler is to level 2 Potty Skill they can pee on their own.
- Hunger: An Adult Sim can place the toddler in a high chair to feed them or give them a drink. They can also feed them on the floor. But be careful, toddlers like to throw their food on the floor a lot. If a toddler gets hungry, they will become angry and can throw a tantrum for their food.
- Energy: Toddlers have their own type of bed, but can nap on the floor or sofas. If they get tired they will become angry and can throw a tantrum. You can also read your toddler to sleep and tuck them in.
- Fun: Playing with toys, dancing, reading, watching TV, playing on the tablet and learning with an adult. Sometimes toddlers won’t want to learn and will become angry that they can’t understand what you’re trying to teach them.
- Attention: Instead of social toddlers have attention, they need to have someone with them most of the time to feel happy and need a lot of stimuli to keep their attention need good. This can be done by interaction with the toddler, playing or just talking with them. It doesn’t have to be an adult either, other children and toddlers can satisfy this need.
- Hygiene: Make sure any dirt diapers are changed or get to the potty in time. You can also bathe toddlers in a bath via an adult sim, this can be with bubbles too! Toddlers don’t like to be dirty and will ask for a bath if needed.
Your toddler will ask an adult, if they can’t satisfy their needs by themselves, for help.
Traits
- Wild: The wild trait makes toddlers more energetic and earns them the Movement skill faster. These toddlers like to dance, run about and go outside. When they get energetic they won’t listen to anything an adult has to say, they are just too hyper. They also like wrestling with adults.
- Angelic: These toddlers are easier to deal with in game since they don’t throw tantrums when angry. They will talk to sims they haven’t met before so and if you’re looking for an easy time with your toddler this is the trait to go with.
- Charmer: These toddlers love to talk and interact with other sims. They aren’t scared to talk to strangers and will ‘share the love’ with them, this means hugging them, it also makes them happy to talk to new people!
- Clingy: These toddlers are the opposite and don’t like talking to people at all. They get very sad when having to talk to a stranger and get sad when a parent goes to work leaving them. But if they are in a bad mood, being comforted makes them happier faster.
- Silly: a silly toddler will love telling chicken butt jokes and getting playful, they also earn the imagination skill faster. Playing with toys will make them playful much faster.
- Fussy: These Toddlers don’t like anything and will try their hardest to make your life a living hell. They always want attention, throw fits and cry. But, them being noticed makes them a lot happier. So if you’re looking for a challenge, here it is!
- Inquisitive: Curious toddlers like thinking about what these strange objects around them are, helping develop their thinking skill faster. They are happiest when learning and get sad when they don’t learn new things in a while. This is the kind of trait good for a Sim you hope to gain logic type skills with later in life.
- Independent: These toddlers love to learn alone and don’t listen to adults much. They gain extra skill when left alone and require less attention from other Sims. More of a toddler who’s happy to be a loner and focus on themselves.
Social Interactions
Here’s a breakdown of the basic social interactions for a Toddler and Adult:
Aging
To age a Toddler up, all you need to do is bake a cake like any other sim and click ‘Help Blow Out Candles” Also, any skills your toddler learns will help in their childhood skills!

The Sims 4 Toddlers: Frequently Asked Questions
The Sims Team posted an official Frequently Asked Questions Thread for the latest Toddlers Update for The Sims 4. Check it out!
Q. What’s new about Toddlers?
A. The Toddlers in the Sims 4 are adorable, challenging little Sims that feature many of the things you know and love from previous versions of this age group but with some additional content all new to The Sims 4. You can customize your Toddlers with lots of new CAS content including clothing, hair, and even teeth!Q. Can you create Toddlers in Create A Sim?
A. You can create Toddlers by selecting the Toddler age in Create a Sim. You’ll be able to customize their look in many ways including changing their eyes, mouth, chin, cheeks, and weight.Q. Do Toddlers have all the same functionality as those in The Sims 2 or 3?
A. Toddlers in The Sims 4 are more active and capable than Toddlers we’ve seen in previous iterations of The Sims. The focus for The Sims 4 is on the development and growth that happens during the toddler age. While you’ll recognize many things including high chairs, potty chairs and learning to talk, Toddlers in the Sims 4 do not drink from bottles, sleep in a crib, nor crawl. Progression and growth is an important part of this age so you will see a toddler walk unsteadily and stumble but improve to be running around the house.Q. What does the Toddler’s update include?
A. The Toddler’s update comes with an assortment of new objects for your little Sims, ranging from a Toddler bookcase and bed, to a high chair, nesting blocks, and more. For a full list of features included in the update, please visit our patch notes here: forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/908758/january-12-2017-patch-notes/p1?new=1Q. How do you gain Toddler Skills?
A. Players will be able to unlock Toddler skills three ways:
- Performing various actions (e.g. gain a movement skill by walking, or a communication skill by socializing).
- Engaging with objects and the world around the Sim (e.g. gain an imagination skill by playing with nesting blocks)
- Getting help from a caregiver (e.g. a parent Sim showing the Toddler flash cards)
Q. How do traits work?
A. Players are prompted to pick a Toddler Trait when aging up from a Baby (or in CAS). The player will also be prompted to choose a valid Child Trait when the Toddler ages to a Child.Q. What are all of the new Toddler traits?
A. The new Toddler Traits include: Angelic, Charmer, Clingy, Fussy, Independent, Inquisitive, Silly and Wild.Q. What are all of the new Toddler skills?
A. The new Toddler Skills include: Communication, Imagination, Thinking, Movement and Potty.Q. How long did this update take?
A. We’ve actually been looking into adding this feature into the game for a while, but had to find the right opportunity and resources to make it work.
