The Sims Movie has been confirmed! Produced by Margot Robbie

Your favorite Simulation Game is hitting the big screen!

Where do we even begin with this story?!

The rumor mill of The Sims Movie has been tossed around a couple of times over the last few years. Today, the mill seems to be put to a stop with an official insider confirmation about the live action movie adaptation being produced by one of the biggest names in Hollywood right now.

Let’s dive into the story and what we know so far about The Sims Movie, produced by Margot Robbie!

Live Action Sims Movie has a Team!

The story was first broken by Jeff Sneider on The InSneider with first details about the team working on this video game film adaptation.

The production company taking the challenge for creating a Sims Movie is called LuckyChap. Same production company that created Barbie, one of the biggest films released in 2023 with a box office currently running over $1.4 billion.

LuckyChap is ran by a professional team of writers and actors including Margot Robbie, Josey McNamara, Tom Ackerly and Sophie Kerr who will have the most say in creating of this film.

The screenplay of this movie will be written by Kate Herron and Briony Redman.

The creation of this movie will be helped along with the Vertigo Entertainment production company, featuring names such as Roy Lee and Miri Yoon. According to The Hollywood Insider, Electronic Arts will also be involved in the movie’s production and creative input.

The Sims Movie

Big Names, Big Expectations

Besides the surprising choice for Margot Robbie, who was both a producer and actor in the movie Barbie, there are also some other big names mentioned above that are involved in the making of this movie.

For example, Roy Lee has worked before on live action adaptations of Lego Movies. Kate Herron’s most recent successful work is Loki, one of the biggest Marvel shows that recently hit Disney+.

The production company LuckyChap isn’t just known for their work on Barbie. One of their most recent movies is Saltburn, an R-Rated black comedy thriller.

There are big chances you’ve heard some of these movies and names before. But if you haven’t, you’re going to hear a lot more about them soon as we update you on the news and developments of The Sims Movie.

What’s The Sims Movie About?

The details about The Sims Movie script are still a secret. Considering that we’ve just now gotten information about the big names working on this project, it might take some months before we get first details.

The Sims Franchise has been withstanding the trials and tests of time for over 20 years now. With The Sims 4 currently holding the rank for a game with the longest longetivity (and DLC content). It’s no surprise that EA would want to crank up promotion and excitement over their next Sims 5 game (also known as Project Rene for now). However, we didn’t even think of the game going to great lengths such as creating a full feature film.

The Sims Movie

I’ve enjoyed the works and films of the australian actress and producer Margot Robbie. So seeing her doing the big work on one of my favorite franchises has me intrigued! Let’s hope the movie will have its original Maxis charm to it, with possibly some cool easter eggs for the longtime players of this game.

The Sims 4 Crystal Creations: All Jewellery with Gorgeous Previews!

If you’re looking for a Sims 4 Crystal Creations guide with all jewellery, you are in the right place! With this shiny new stuff pack, players can now have their Sims craft a variety of jewellery pieces using the crystals and metals they collect out in the world. Depending on what crystal was used to craft a piece of jewellery, it can provide gameplay effects to the wearer if it’s been charged on a crystal grid.

Sims 4 Crystal Creations All Jewellery

Take a look at ALL craftable jewellery in Crystal Creations!

There are a total of 48 different jewellery designs Sims can make and this guide has all jewellery listed for you. Whether you want to know a piece’s description, cost to make, required skill level, or see what the pieces look like up close in game, we’ve got everything covered!

Sims 4 Crystal Creations and All Jewellery

Learn everything you need to know about crafting all jewellery in our guide!

Sims 4 Crystal Creations: Breakdown of All Jewellery

Jewellery is broken down into 4 categories; necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings. All jewellery is unisex, meaning they can be worn by both masculine and feminine teen-elder Sims. Each category has 12 different designs and there are 12 different sets across all four categories. For example, the Basic Necklace is designed to match the Basic Earrings, Basic Bracelet, and Basic Ring. Each jewellery piece is part of a matching set, but Sims do not have to wear the matching sets. Jewellery can be mixed and matched as you’ll see in this guide.

sims 4 crystal creations trailer screen 313

Although there are a total of 48 pieces of craftable jewellery, their colour combinations range in the thousands. Colour is determined by which metal and crystal you combine to make that piece and you can select any combination of metal and crystal to make any piece of jewellery. The only exception to this is the Basic jewellery set, which does not use a crystal; so this set in particular only has as many colour variants as there are metals in the game.

Our Sims 4 Crystal Creations guide with all jewellery breaks down every piece of jewellery your Sims can craft with names, thumbnail previews, descriptions, cost to make, required Gemology Skill and in-game close up examples of each design!

Stocked up in the Sims Spring Sale 2024 and looking for help with how to play your new packs? Our Guides section has you covered!

New The Sims 4 Update: March 6th, 2024 (Crystal Creations Critical Issues Hotfix)

This week we saw a third patch released for The Sims 4. This follows on from the original patch EA released for The Sims 4 Update on February 27th, 2024. This of course was the update that caused major backlash. The new “Packs you may like” shopping cart trollery was introduced as a test and had become part of the main game User Interface. As a result of the new addition, it was causing many to report issues of unstoppable flashing of the icon.

After the original patch was released, another Sims 4 Update Hotfix to address the initial issues was released on 28th February 2024. However, while this hotfix addresses some critical issues with the new icon, the release of The Sims 4 Crystal Creations saw some more deliberating issues arise.

Now, EA have released a second Sims 4 Update Hotfix which is currently rolling out to players worldwide and across all platforms.

In particular, this secondary hotfix addresses the additional critical issues that were reported by the community as well as some that arose since the release of the latest Stuff Pack.

Fingers crossed this will be the last update we see until the next Laundry List is released. Anyway, let’s take a look at The Sims 4’s latest patch notes:

In the interest of deploying these fixes faster, this update will follow a staggered release cadence. Bug Fixes

The Sims 4

  • Updated some performance optimizations that had caused certain moodlets to inadvertently be removed from Sims on load.
  • Fixed a crash that would occur if a tooltip was triggered when in the hover state on objects within a Sim’s inventory.
  • Fixed an issue with object picker UI menus that – when certain conditions were met – would interfere with Sims’ ability to run various “Give” interactions (interactions where objects would be given to other Sims).
  • Once learned, the WooHoo Interests of other Sims will once again be displayed accurately in that Sims’ Profile Panel.

For Rent

  • You should once again be able to successfully open the Profile Panel of another Sim after Eavesdropping on them and see any secrets that were learned about them.

Crystal Creations

  • Corrected an issue where Sims’ bodies would gradually change in size each time a Sim put on or took off crafted jewelry. This issue primarily affected Teens, Adults, and Elders. There was minimal impact to Young Adults.
    • While this issue will no longer occur, this update does not retroactively fix the appearance of Sims who had already been altered. There are two methods we can suggest for manually restoring your Sims:
      • You can restore an older save file that was saved prior to any crafted jewelry being worn by your Sims.
        • On PC/Mac, please visit our video guide or text guide for instructions on restoring older save files.
        • On PlayStation/Xbox, select “Load Game” from the main menu, and choose an older save file.
      • You can take your Sim into CAS by using the “Change Sim” interaction on a Mirror or Dresser object, and then manipulate your Sim’s body to reasonably approximate their prior appearance.
    • For players with The Sims 4 Get to Work, crafted jewelry can now be sold at Retail businesses without being returned to the business owner Sims’ inventory when traveling away from the Retail lot.
    • If a Sim dies while wearing crafted jewelry, that jewelry will now be disassociated with the now-dead Sim when the jewelry is returned to the household’s inventory.
    • Updated some combinations of crafting jewelry that were resulting in a gemstone color that did not match the crystal that was selected when crafting.

While the effects of crystals in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations don’t last forever, this can still be a huge game changer if you and your Sim know how to make the most of the power that crystals can hold. All you need is a gemstone or a piece of jewellery made from a crystal, the moon, and a crystal charging grid!

Sims 4 Crystal Creations Crystal Charging Guide

In this Sims 4 Crystal Creations guide, you’ll learn all about how to use the crystal charging grid to infuse the gemstones and jewellery you craft with powerful effects that can be of use to not just your own Sims, but their friends and family, too.

Once you know what each type of crystal can do in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations, it’s just a matter of cutting it into a gemstone or crafting it into a piece of jewellery, charging it on the crystal grid and you’ll have a powerful little piece of magic in your pocket. Or around your neck. Or dangling from your ears. Or on your fingers and wrists. Or sitting in your home… Well, you get the idea. Basically, you can do a lot with crystals in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations.

Charging Crystals

To charge your crystals in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations, you first need to have a crystal charging grid. You can find one in Build/Buy for $50 which is a pretty great price considering what it can do. This crystal charging grid is also functional off-the-grid because it doesn’t use electricity to power up the crystals placed on it… it uses the moon!

Sims 4 Crystal Creations Cat 13

The crystal grid must be placed outdoors in order to work. It cannot have a roof over it; it needs direct exposure to the sky. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t place a crystal grid indoors for decorative purposes. You can absolutely have a crystal grid inside for aesthetic. It just won’t charge your crystals indoors.

Sims 4 Crystal Creations Crystal Effects Guide 2

Between the hours of 7pm and 7am is when you want to stock up the crystal grid because that is when the moon is out. When we say stock up, we mean it; each crystal grid can have up to 7 pieces of jewellery or gemstones placed on it, meaning you can charge up to 7 crystals at a time. So if you’ve made multiple items during the daytime, you can charge them all at night.

If you want to make the most of charging your crystal pieces in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations, you’ll want to pay attention to the moon phases. Technically speaking, your crystal gemstones and jewellery will charge no matter what phase the moon is in, but depending on the current moon phase, they will charge much faster or much slower. For example, under the new moon when the moon is not visible in the sky, your crystals will charge the slowest. However, during a full moon, your crystals will charge fastest. Given these two extremes, it’s easy to remember that waxing moon phases will charge crystals faster and waning moon phases will charge crystals slower.

Sims 4 Crystal Creations Crystal Effects Guide 5

You can see the charging progress by hovering over an item on the crystal grid or by hovering over the grid itself, but you’ll see visual cues as well. For example, fully charged items glow and on a full moon, the crystal grid glows brightly to indicate that it is charging your crystals extra fast. Once your crystal pieces are fully charged up, they only hold their power for a short time, usually about 2 in-game days. You’ll have to keep recharging those pieces every couple of days to maintain the effects on them.

Crystal Effects

So you’ve charged your crystals but what the heck do they do in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations? Well, this is easy to find out. If you hover over any crystal in the game, you’ll be able to see exactly what effects that crystal will have when it is charged on a crystal grid.

Sims 4 Crystal Creations Crystal Effects Guide 1

If you just want a quick, handy reference list without having to hunt down crystals in the game, we’ve got you covered! We’ve listed every crystal in The Sims 4 from every pack and their charged effects. Yup! All crystals from other DLC packs are integrated into this new system, which is pretty neat! As you can see, some crystals are incredibly powerful when charged and there are even some crystals that are beneficial to occults, like vampires, spellcasters, werewolves, and aliens.

New Sims 4 Patch adds Pack Ads to Game UI

0

The recent The Sims 4 update has caused some unexpected chaos within the community. While the update has addressed several existing issues, it has also made some slight changes to the user interface.

Since the new changes to The Sims 4 UI which ultimately add another place for in-game advertisements, players have been vocal with their thoughts and concerns about the changes.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a feature like this added to a The Sims game, back in the days of The Sims 3, players had a similar feature to access the additional content shop there.

Sims 4 Update, Sims 4 Mods

The Sims 4 UI Update Adds In-Game Ads

The February 27th, 2024 patch added a new icon to player’s games. The icon can be found in the top right-hand corner of The Sims 4 UI when in Live Mode and Build Buy Mode.

Sims 4 UI

Known as the shopping trolley icon or by its actual title, Packs You May Like, the icon is supposed to share an insight into The Sims 4’s vast library of additional content. However, if you do own all of the expansion, game and stuff packs as well as Kits, it’s not hugely beneficial.

Now, if you were to click on it without owning all of the additional content for The Sims 4, it would show you a selection of content that may interest you. For those who own all the additional content, it tells you that you’ve seen everything, and to check back again soon. It also prompts you to look at the Pack and Kit information in the main menu.

This is a feature that The Sims Team is currently testing in the game. It has also become known that not all players are currently seeing it in their games.

The Problem & Chaos

Before the recent patch was released, there was no suggestion that this Sims 4 UI change was coming. Now that it is appearing in-game, it’s clear to see where the concerns coming from within the community.

As an overview of the concerns and feedback players have been sharing over the past twenty-four hours, here is a quick rundown:

  • The constant pulsating/flashing of the icon while in-game is distracting for many reasons and doesn’t need to be doing so all the time.
  • The addition of the shopping trolley icon doesn’t benefit players in-game and is more of a distraction.
  • What is the actual purpose of this change in The Sims 4 UI when players can discover the additional content via the homepage?
  • Can players have the option to toggle the feature on/off or just remove it altogether?
laundrylist2

Across social media, players were vocal to share their thoughts and opinions on the subject matter. Some players even shared some playful memes to try and lighten the mood and make light of the situation.

Please, Make It Stop!

As previously mentioned, the biggest concern was the constant pulsating/flashing of the logo. There were a number of reasons why players were unhappy with it, however, the issue has now been addressed via an emergency hotfix patch from The Sims team.

Additionally, players would like to see the option to toggle the new icon in The Sims 4 UI on and off added in a future patch.

Modders to the Rescue

TwistedMexi took to X (formerly Twitter) after yesterday’s patch to share that they are hoping to add an option in their Better Build Buy Mode that will remove the shopping trolley for players.

While this is a great option for players on PC and Mac, sadly it’s not an option for console players due to restrictions from PlayStation and Xbox.

Community Matters

From the moment the new changes to the Sims 4 UI were discovered, players took to social media to share their thoughts and opinions.

Please be aware that these posts were made prior to the emergency hotfix patch being released on February 28th, 2024 across all platforms.

While many players seemed to be on the same page and shared many of the same thoughts and opinions on the new shopping trolley icon, some players did take a moment to take a more humorous approach to the situation.

The Sims Direct Communications

It’s clear that the changes to The Sims 4 UI are not going down well and The Sims Direct Communications X account shared some further information.

Not only has this change been rolled out to select players, but it’s also a test feature for The Sims 4 UI. As to why only select players have received the change, it is not clear however, players hope that either the feature becomes an option that can be toggled or is removed completely.

This was also something that was echoed by many players. Is there truly a need for this UI change when we already have a home for discovering additional content on the main menu of the game?

The emergency hotfix to address the issues with the news Sims 4 UI icon flashing longer than planned has been rolled out for players across all platforms.

Where Can I Share My Feedback?

There is currently a thread over on the EA Answers HQ where players can share their feedback about the new feature.

New The Sims 4 Update: Feb 28th, 2024 (Pack Ads Hotfix)

The pulsating icon should no longer pulsate. That much.

EA released a new Sims 4 Update on February 27th, 2024 that caused major backlash. Their new “Packs you may like” button that was added in the middle of the game User Interface was causing many to report issues of unstoppable flashing of the icon.

Today, there’s an update that fixes the pulsation and flashing of the shopping cart icon. Don’t you worry though, when the time comes for a new DLC release you’ll definitely be let known.

Hopefully EA isn’t considering sound alerts…Anyways, back to The Sims 4’s latest patch:

Simmers,

Bug Fixes

The Sims 4

  • Addressed an issue where Sims that had achieved certain skill levels and had unlocked or crafted specific recipes, or had written music, were then unable to select interactions on themselves, on other Sims, and on certain objects.
  • Fixed the cart button to correct an issue that was causing it to animate for longer and more frequently than intended.

CAS

The Sims 4 Crystal Creations Developer Walkthrough 1 4 49 screenshot
  • Vintage dark academia theme in the Sims 4 Crystal Creations CAS catalogue.
  • Lots of pieces that are designed to display jewellery pieces. Lots of rolled up sleeves and plunging necklines to show off the jewellery; it won’t get hidden underneath the clothes.
  • Little hints of jewellery built into many of the clothing items but not so much that it distracts from the jewellery the player creates.
  • Toddlers, infants, and children all have crystal earrings to represent different cultures.
  • Hairstyles with jewellery accents.
  • The jewellery players craft and put on their Sims in Live Mode remains visible in CAS so you can match the outfits to the jewellery pieces they are wearing in Live Mode. Any jewellery worn in Live Mode will show up in the CAS catalogue as well but only if your Sims have made the jewellery. You have to craft the jewellery in order to use it

Build/Buy

The Sims 4 Crystal Creations Developer Walkthrough 51 51 screenshot
  • Workbenches, cabinets, vintage antique quality
  • Lots of slots for clutter on so many of the Build/Buy pieces in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations.
  • Dark Academia/Dark and Dreamy theme for the Build/Buy catalogue of this pack.
  • 1940s vintage pieces that look like they were curated by the jewellery artist.
  • “Turn of the century boarding school professor’s room” style. Not modern, but not quite Victorian. Early 20th century.
  • Lots of visual storytelling in the clutter décor.
  • One styled room in 3 different colour palettes.
  • A lot of muted colours to help the bright colours of the jewellery pop more against all the dark.

Gameplay

The Sims 4 Crystal Creations Developer Walkthrough 35 49 screenshot
  • 3 new crystals and 3 new metals in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations.
  • Craft your own jewellery out of crystals and metals.
  • The crystals and metals are available in all worlds that have the rock dig sites.
  • You can purchase crystals on the computer, including crystals from this pack but no rare crystals; you still have to collect those out in the world.
  • Scientists with the Get To Work pack can give you crystals, including the new ones.
  • The new metals are Silver (Common), Gold (Uncommon), and Rose Gold (Rare).
  • The new crystals are Jade, Amber, and Moonstone.
  • Use crystals and metals to craft jewellery pieces on the new workbench.
  • Crafting jewellery builds the new Gemology skill in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations.
  • Jewellery can range in quality depending on your Sim’s skill level and emotional state.
  • Jewellery can be worn, gifted (and worn by the recipient), displayed, sold on Plopsy (with Nifty Knitting installed) or straight from the crafting table, and even named.
  • 12 of each type of design (12 necklaces, 12 earrings, 12 bracelets, 12 rings for a total of 48 designs).
  • Within those 48 designs, you can combine any number of crystals and metals to create different colour combinations with different gameplay effects. The number of possible combinations ranges in the thousands!
  • Lots of fun Easter eggs in the jewellery design descriptions.
  • Many of the pieces in each category match each other in a set. As you build the Gemology skill, all jewellery pieces from a specific set will open up to you.
  • Gemology can be learned through skill books or by crafting jewellery.
  • Ability to cut gemstones out of crystals with The Sims 4 Crystal Creations. Lots of different shapes ranging from simple star, heart, and some fun ones like a plumbob, skull, and gnome.
  • Every single crystal has a specific effect if charged under the moon. Jewellery pieces made with charged crystals carry the same effect over to Sims who wear them.
  • Cutting a crystal into a gemstone gives it an area of effect when charged, causing any Sims around it to gain those effects.
  • Moon phases affect crystal charging! They can charge faster or slower depending on the phase of the moon. New moon will charge crystals slowly. Full moon has the strongest effect and will charge your pieces super fast.
  • The crystal grid lights up to show you how fast the moon is charging the pieces on it.
  • You can charge multiple things at once (up to 7 at a time), you can charge finished jewellery pieces, gemstones, and raw metals/crystals.
  • Pieces will glow brightly when they’re fully charged.
  • Hover over the grid to see detailed info about the charging progress of the pieces.
  • Jewellery can be equipped immediately to your Sim from Live Mode without needing to enter CAS.
  • You can also have non-played Sims wear the jewellery you want immediately by gifting it to them in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations. The recipient will immediately put the jewellery on. If the gifted jewellery has an effect on it, the gift recipient will also receive the benefits of that effect.
  • Seed Shaped Gemstone unlocks at level 3 of the Gemology skill and can be made with any crystal you want.
  • This seed shaped gemstone can be planted and will grow into a crystal tree! The tree can be raised in quality, making the crystals it produces increase in rarity.
  • A crystal tree will give you a random assortment of crystals every day, so it’s a good way to keep a regular stock without doing so much digging out in the world or spending lots of money buying them.
  • New Aspiration in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations: Crystal Crafter – includes a goal of summoning the Grim Reaper with jewellery. Charged jet will allow you to do this.
  • Sims can propose marriage using a ring that they crafted themselves.
  • Charged crystals do need to be recharged periodically, depending on the effect. They won’t hold the charge forever. Sims will get a moodlet that tells you when a worn piece of jewellery is no longer charged.
  • Sims who get proposed to with a crafted ring will actually wear that ring as an engagement ring in The Sims 4 Crystal Creations. However, each ring has a designated finger it goes on so make sure you craft a ring for the finger you want the engagement ring to be on.
  • The crystal grid will only charge crystals between 7pm and 7am if it’s outside. It needs direct exposure to the moon; however, it can be placed indoors for aesthetic and décor purposes.

EA and Maxis are picking up the pace with running multiple franchises. According to their Maxis Careers website, a brand new game is in the works – codenamed Project Dolores.

Here’s everything we know so far about this standalone IP and what the new game could entail:

First listing of Project Dolores

Step aside Project Rene – there’s another Maxis video game waiting to be announced! The first listing of Project Dolores has appeared on a job listing for a Technical Director on the official Maxis careers website.

The job position mentions a new video game title called “Project Dolores” as of now. Here’s what the listing has mentioned in regards to the game and what they’re looking for in the next Technical Director:

Project Dolores: Official EA Listing

What does this mean?

It’s been mentioned a couple of times within this job listing that Project Dolores is ramping up development through a new team including a General Manager, Art Director, Engineers and more.

It hasn’t been clarified whether or not Project Dolores is related to The Sims Franchise at all or not. Among the last points in the listing is a mention of gaining “depth of knowledge of The Sims and EA’s current game technology”. Meaning that the game could either be inspired by The Sims in game mechanisms, have similar life simulation aspects or just be a completely different game.

We first reported in September of 2021 about a new game called “Lost Astral”. A video game name under the Maxis game publisher that accidentally got leaked during the Nvidia hack that year. On top of that one of the developers accidentally revealed some first details about this game they worked on, which looked quite similar to Lost Astral.

Now, is Project Dolores just Lost Astral in disguise or a completely different game? Time will tell, and hopefully EA will make a similar announcement with this game like they did with Project Rene.

Current Projects at Maxis

Maxis has expanded over the last few years, covering new offices across the globe that employ people both remotely and in-office. There are currently multiple teams working on several different games, including:

  • The Sims 4 – United States, Canada, Europe
  • Project Rene / The Sims 5 – United States, Canada, Europe
  • Project Dolores – United States, Canada

The Sims 4 series seems to have picked up with game production thanks to the team from Maxis Europe. Project Rene seems to have gone quiet for a few months when it comes to official development news.

Meanwhile, Project Dolores is waiting to be uncovered. If anything, we certainly know that this new game is going to be a simulation.
