The Sims 4 Treehouse Guide: Build, Upgrade and Play!

Build, upgrade, and decorate the perfect play space for the whole family!

Sims 4 Growing Together Treehouse

Sims 4 Treehouse objects are a new feature with Growing Together, and they are bigger and better than ever before! The new treehouses have so many different customization options and the whole family can work together to build it. Add upgrades, decorations, and even place some toys and furnishings in the treehouse! We’re going to tell you everything you need to know about building a treehouse in The Sims 4 Growing Together!

Building a Sims 4 Treehouse in Growing Together

Sims 4 Treehouse: Building Process

Firstly, you need to have a treehouse on your lot. To get a treehouse, purchase it from Build/Buy under Outdoor Activities and place it outside on your lot. The treehouse takes up a whopping 9×9 grid so make sure you have a lot of open outdoor space for this object. We don’t recommend using the moveobjects cheat to squeeze the treehouse in a smaller space. Your Sims won’t be able to perform some of the upgrades or make use of the treehouse if there is anything at all obstructing its 9×9 grid footprint.

The treehouse is not built when you first place it down. It’s just two large trees with some boxes and lumber next to it. Click on the treehouse with an adult Sim to start building the treehouse. Children cannot build a treehouse by themselves; they need adult supervision. Once an adult is already working on the treehouse, you can have children join in. Multiple Sims can work on building a treehouse at the same time. Building a treehouse builds the Handiness skill for adults and the Mental skill for children.

The Sims 4 Growing Together: Helping Build a Treehouse

Depending on how many Sims are helping, it may take a long time to finish the Sims 4 treehouse. It took our Sims almost the entire day to finish building their treehouse with two Sims working on it. The treehouse will look rather plain when it’s finished but don’t worry! There is still plenty more you can do with it!

Upgrading a Treehouse in The Sims 4 Growing Together

Sims 4 Treehouse Upgrades

There are four different upgrades you can add to a finished treehouse. They all require either some simoleons or upgrade parts. Your Sim will also need to have Handiness skill to add upgrades to a treehouse.

UpgradeDescriptionRequirements
BellAdds a bell that can be rungHandiness 2, 1 Common Upgrade Part
LightsAdds fairy lights which can be adjusted like any other lightsHandiness 5, 1 Common Upgrade Part, 1 Electronic Upgrade Part
SlideAdds a slide for Sims to slide down from the treehouseHandiness 2, §100
Sliding PoleAdds a pole for Sims to slide down from the treehouseHandiness 4, §100

Just like building a treehouse, multiple Sims can join in with upgrading but only adults can initiate upgrading the treehouse. Children must join in after to ensure they are being supervised by an adult.

Customising Your Treehouse

Moreover, upgrades are not the only way to customise the look of your Sims 4 treehouse! Children can decorate their finished treehouse in a variety of styles! Just click on the treehouse with a child Sim and choose to decorate it in whatever style you wish. You can change the decorations as much as you want.

Here’s a look at all the different treehouse decoration styles you can choose from!

Also, treehouses have a total of 8 open tile spaces to put toys and a limited selection of other objects. There are 4 tiles of space on each side of the front of the treehouse. So most children’s toys and activity objects that have a footprint of 4 tiles or less can be snapped in place on the treehouse. Anything that can be snapped to the treehouse is usable by your Sims. You can place toy boxes, activity tables, stuffed animals, and even telescopes in the treehouse and your Sims will be able to interact with them!

Treehouse Activities

There are so many different activities Sims can enjoy in a treehouse. Children and older Sims can use treehouses but if you want a kids or teens only hangout spot, there is an option to disallow adults from using the treehouse.

With a finished but not upgraded treehouse, Sims can sit on the built-in bench and sing songs together. They can also use the enclosure for relaxing, sleeping, playing, and yes, even Messing Around and WooHoo for teens and older Sims. Also, they can Watch Nature from the treehouse.

Sims 4 WooHoo in a Treehouse
Adults WooHooing in a treehouse

Of course, adding upgrades allows more activities. The slide will give Sims a new way to exit the treehouse. It’s also a fun activity to enjoy. So is the sliding pole upgrade that can be added. Lights keep the treehouse lit up even when it’s dark out and your Sims can customise the colour and intensity of them just like they can with any other lights in the game. The bell upgrade lets your Sims ring the bell on the treehouse, too.

Playing Pretend in a Sims 4 Growing Together Treehouse

Additionally, children have lots of play options on the Sims 4 Treehouse in Growing Together. They can Play on Treehouse and Play Pretend. The Play Pretend options match the decoration styles. For example, you can have your child Sims play princesses if they have the princess decorations on the treehouse. However, this is only an option. You can use any of the play pretend options regardless of the treehouse’s decorations. Also, there is a Play House option under Play Pretend.

Sims 4 Treehouse: Play Pretend

Also, want to control who’s allowed in the treehouse? Select Set Admission on the treehouse. You can set the treehouse to kids only, teens only, or no adults allowed. The no adults allowed option will let both kids and teens use the treehouse.

Of course, there are many more activities Sims can do in the treehouse depending on which activity objects and toys you’ve placed on it. Play with toyboxes, stuffed animals, make crafts, stargaze, and much more!

The Sims 3 Mods: Build/Buy Search Mod Overview

Building in The Sims 3 has never been easier!

Are you looking for a mod to make building and finding the perfect object even easier than before? Well, we have just the thing. Let us introduce you to a brand-new Sims 3 Building Search Mod from Lazy Duchess!

Who is Lazy Duchess?

Lazy Duchess is well known within both The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 communities for their game mods.

Some of their other mods include the No Social Groups Mod, Smooth Patch and Random Sim Fixes for The Sims 3 Additionally, a modded launcher for The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff as well as Playable and Improved Nannies for The Sims 2.

You can find all of Lazy Duchess’s mods on both their Patreon and Mod The Sims!

What is The Sims 3 Build Search Mod from Lazy Duchess?

Lazy Duchess has created this Sims 3 Build Search Mod that is so simple but also powerful at the same time.

The addition of the search allows players to look through the name of objects in the catalog and the object description.

You can see the mod in action in this short video from Lazy Duchess below!

Mod Overview

Currently, in The Sims 3, players are able to organize the catalog by room, function, the family inventory or by collections. You can filter the catalog by either Custom Content, Store Content or by specific pack. However, unlike in The Sims 4, players are unable to search for specific items. This is where the Sims 3 Build Search Mod comes in!

Sims 3 Build Search Mod: Catalog with no Search Mod
The Sims 3 Catalog without Search Function

Now, especially if you have multiple expansion packs or stuff packs, it can be difficult pinpointing that one specific object you are looking for. This is where Lazy Duchess’s mod comes in!

Installing the Sims 3 Build Search Mod into your game is easy and once done you are ready to jump in and start using it straight away.

You’ll now notice that a small magnifying glass has appeared just under where you can view the catalog filters on the very right-hand side of the catalog.

Upon clicking on the magnifying glass, you’ll then be presented with a pop-up allowing you to enter your search query.

Once you’ve entered your search, the catalog will filter out all results that fit that criteria, making it easier than before to find the object you are looking for! You can then select the object(s) required and continue about building and playing as normal!

Downloading the Sims 3 Build Search Mod

How do I download the Sims 3 Build Search mod? It’s easy! Simply head to Lazy Duchess’s Patreon. The mod is available publicly right now!

Once you have downloaded the mod from Patreon, you can add it to your Sims 3 Mods folder as normal.

How do I Install Mods in The Sims 3?

Now, if you are new to adding mods to The Sims 3 it is a pretty straightforward process. However, if you have ever added mods to The Sims 4, it is a similar same process. Once you have downloaded the Sims 3 Build Search Mod from Lazy Duchess, you will be looking to add the file to your mods folder as normal.

You’ll be looking for the following file pathway if you are playing on a PC.

C:/Users/<Username>/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods

However, if you are playing The Sims 3 on Mac, you’ll be looking for this file pathway instead.

/Users/<username>/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/

By using the guide from Mod the Sims, we were able to make sure our game was mod ready.

Are you new to adding mods to The Sims 3 or do you just need a refresher? You can read a full step-by-step guide below!

Our Thoughts

The Sims 3 Build Search Mod from Lazy Duchess is a welcomed addition to our game. With is being incredibly easy to add into our game, it was plain sailing once we confirmed everything was working.

It was a little bit of trial and error once we were in the Build Buy catalog to get search results to display, however we soon realized by ensuring that the category we were searching, for example, electronics, was showing all objects within that category first. Then, entering our search query would display all of our desired results with no issues at all.

Lazy Duchess’s mod is a great feature to have in The Sims 3. It will definitely come in useful when building and looking for particular items going forward, as well as helping us discover objects we may not have used before or remembered were in The Sims 3.

What’s That Light? A Guide to Aliens in The Sims 4

The truth is out there, Scully…

With the release of the first expansion pack for The Sims 4, Get To Work, came the first “supernatural” life state – Sims 4 aliens! Aliens have been a part of the Sims games since The Sims 2 and have been a long-time favorite of Simmers of all ages.

In each iteration of The Sims franchise, aliens have been improved upon in both appearance and playability. In The Sims 2, aliens were referred to as Pollination Technicians and didn’t offer much more in terms of interactions, but the novelty of possibly getting abducted and the concept of male pregnancy was enough for the time. With The Sims 3, Aliens were given a little more substance with alien-specific social interaction as well as that nifty space-ship vehicle they could zoom around in.

All About The Sims 4 Aliens!

Now, The Sims 4 aliens are better than ever! Here I’ll highlight the new features and game play that you can access while playing as an alien.

Appearance

In addition to the standard green-hued aliens of yore, your other-worldly Sims can now have a variety of skin tones ranging from palest white-blue to vibrant greens and rich purples. You can customize your Sims 4 aliens further by giving them unique make-up and tattoos that really make them stand out from  the crowd.

Sims 4 aliens

Another interesting feature of Sims 4 aliens are the eyes that are unique to alien Sims. They can have grey, blue, turquoise or purple eyes reminiscent of a galaxy far, far, away which is truly unique!

AlienEyes

If all of that is just a little too, well, alien for you, thanks to a free update, you can make your Sims 4 aliens try to appear as human as possible by giving them hair, human eyes and makeup as well as clothes.

Possibly the coolest feature of Sims 4 aliens is the ability for them to disguise themselves as Earth-bound Sims when out among the general public. This is a new feature for aliens with The Sims 4 and one that I wholeheartedly embrace. Although, I have found myself overly suspicious of game generated townies because there’s a decent chance they may be an alien. This is an example of a townie that I discovered in game to be an alien with his human disguise on the left, and his true Alien form on the right.

Sims 4 aliens

Without resorting to more… intimate… measures of discovering that a Sim is an alien (ie: WooHoo), another sign is a slight pulsating glow surrounding the Sim when they enter any strong emotional state like “Very Playful” or “Very Happy.” Any of the “Very” and beyond emotions will signal the glow.

Sixam

As if Sims 4 aliens in disguise wasn’t great enough, they even have their own home “planet” which is a secret alien lot called Sixam. The Get To Work Expansion did a great job integrating aliens into the game by utilizing the already existing rocket ship as a means of traveling to the alien world of Sixam.

Sims 4 aliens

In order to get to Sixam via rocket ship, there are a few requirements. First, you need to build a rocket ship. This will cost you 4000 simoleons just to place the pad and an additional 1000 simoleons to build. Once you’ve finally reached level 10 of the Rocket Science skill and built the ship, you’ll have the option to upgrade the ship by installing a Wormhole Generator. This will also cost you a pretty penny to the sum of 1000 simoleons. That’s at a minimum 6000 simoleons and a great deal of time (without cheating) just to travel to the lot. But it’s worth it – you’ll see in a minute.

09 08 15 7 08 PM 1024x542 1

The second way of getting to Sixam is through the new Scientist career that also came with Get To Work. At level 6, if in the possession of a few metals, crystals, and elements, you can invent the Electroflux Wormhole Generator. You’re not quite there yet, though. You have to get to level 10 of the career before you can travel to the alien world. Once you reach the top of the career, drag your Wormhole Generator back to the Invention Creator station and you can upgrade it. Now you’re ready to go!

So you’re finally on Sixam!

Sims 4 aliens

At first it may not seem like much, but hang in there! There are new collectibles to be found in the form of harvestables, geodes, and smaller Sims 4 aliens.

09 08 15 7 45 PM1 1024x542 1

And let’s not forget the scenery itself. The world is beautiful. It’s covered in foliage that seems to have it’s own heartbeat as lights pulsate throughout the roots.

Sims 4 Aliens: Sixam World Preview
Sixam in The Sims 4 Get to Work
Sims 4 aliens

Once you’ve been on Sixam for a few minutes, you’ll start to catch glimpses of Sims 4 aliens on the planet. There are spawn points at the far corners so it takes a little while for them to come into view.

Note: When travelling to Sixam, it will add a good amount (15-20) of Sims 4 aliens to the population. Feel free to delete them from the Manage Worlds option. The game will always spawn more if you go back!

Aliens in Sixam

If your Sim is in the Scientist career, a daily task may be to travel to Sixam for a special event. Let’s just say the Sims 4 aliens have been doing their research and like to party!

Sims 4 Aliens on the Secret Sixam Lot

Abductions & Pregnancy

What’s the fun in having Sims 4 aliens without the chance to get abducted? Fret not, because your Sims can, and maybe will, get abducted by aliens. If a particular Sim is the target of an abduction, they will stop whatever it is they are doing to go outside and investigate a strange light. Abductions will only happen at night, so anywhere between 9pm and 5am.

Alien Abductions in The Sims 4

An abduction lasts a few Sim hours and usually your Sim will be returned a little dazed but generally unharmed. Sims with the Geek trait will get a positive moodlet from getting abducted.

Originally, if your abducted Sim was a human male, there was a chance he’d come back pregnant. With the latest gender updates, any abducted Sim who can get other Sims pregnant can return home pregnant with an alien baby.

Alien Pregnancy in The Sims 4

If your Sim gets pregnant from an alien abduction, they will have the same confetti-tossing moment that Sims who can become pregnant get when they discover they are expecting. However, they will not be able to take a pregnancy test. They will simply complain of a tummy ache.

The next stage of an alien pregnancy via abduction is a -1 Uncomfortable moodlet bemoaning strange weight gain. The third and final stage is a different -1 Uncomfortable moodlet claiming that something is DEFINITELY not right.

09 10 15 6 33 PM 1024x542 1

The pregnant Sim will go into labor like normal and can deliver the baby at home or at the hospital.

Sims 4 Aliens: Baby

Once you’ve had the bundle of joy, you have the option of keeping it or returning it to its home world, an option that can be found when clicking on the bassinet. Babies resulting from an abduction have their own bassinet that also has the “It’s so…cute?” interaction which was a nice touch.

Alien Crib in The Sims 4

Non-alien Sims who can get other Sims pregnant also run the risk of getting pregnant if they Try For Baby with an alien who can become pregnant. Alien Sims who can get other Sims pregnant cannot become pregnant.

Alien Children and Hybrids

Alien children can be any of the wide range of skin tones available to adult Sims 4 aliens. However, they do not have the make up and tattoos available to them. Full alien children also have the ability to disguise themselves. Alien children result from either two aliens trying for a baby or an alien abduction.

Sim-Alien hybrids result from non-alien and alien Sims trying for baby. These resulting children are unique because they have the skin tone of an alien but will have hair and normal eyes. Hybrid aliens also cannot disguise themselves nor do they have any of the alien social interactions.

Sims 4 Aliens: Children

Alien Powers and Interactions

There are several new social interactions that Sims 4 aliens can perform. Some of the interactions require Brain Power and your alien will need a cool down period before performing more of those interactions.

Alien Powers

Empathize (Friendly): Allows your alien to feel what the target Sim is feeling.

Alien Powers

Analyze Personality (Friendly): Learn all of the target Sim’s traits all at once.

Erase Memory (Mischief): The target Sim will immediately forget your alien allowing plenty of time to disguise and re-introduce yourself without the awkwardness of discovering their secret.

Sims 4 Aliens: Powers Showcase

Interactions

Scare with Probe: This is more for entertainment value, but your alien Sim whips out a device that reveals various comical “probes” such as a blender or duck-on-a-stick.

Sims 4 aliens

There are also several alien-specific socials such as talking about human food or discussing weird atmospheric pressure. If you come across another alien, the two can perform a secret handshake!

The Sims 4 Caliente Update: Love or Hate? Fab or Drab?

Another premade household revamp has hit The Sims 4.

The Sims 4 Caliente update is here and no one can decide if it’s a good thing or not. Quite some time ago now, The Sims Team promised players that they would be going back and revamping premade households of iconic Sims with long histories in the franchise, starting with base game households like the Goths and Calientes. This came as a direct response to criticism that the premade households in The Sims 4 whitewashed families that were not white in past Sims games.

Like every change to the game, this announcement was met with both praise and criticism. Some players were happy that iconic families like the Goths and Calientes were going to look more true to how they did in The Sims 2. Other players didn’t see the point in revamping households that already exist when players have the freedom to do this themselves if they want to. Others wondered if this was hollow virtue signalling instead of giving us actual content that is diverse, such as better hairstyles for black Sims and other cultural content.

New Calientes… Plus Don

However you feel about it, The Sims Team is forging ahead with remaking some of these households. Previously, they updated the Goth family in an SDX drop with mixed reactions from Simmers. Yesterday’s SDX drop brought a Sims 4 Caliente update to the game!

Traditionally, the Caliente twins are half Spanish, half Arab. Their father, Flamenco Caliente is Spanish and their mother (whose name was Nighat in The Sims 2) is Arab. It’s pretty safe to say that the Caliente girls in The Sims 4 at launch looked white. This is further reinforced by their mother’s Arabic name being changed to an Irish name in The Sims 4. Katrina is a modernized spelling of the traditional Irish name, Catriona.

The Sims 4 Caliente update, in our humble opinion, looks a lot more like their Sims 2 selves than they did previously in The Sims 4, which is nice to see. However, we can’t help but notice that apart from the facial hair, Don actually looked more like The Sims 2 Don before than he does now.

For more information on the updated Calientes (and Don), check out our full article on all the changes!

Love Them? Hate Them? Download Them!

Of course, not everyone agrees that the Sims 4 Caliente update is an improvement. Some Simmers just want the premade Sims to be left alone all together. Don’t worry; we expected as much which is why before we apply any SDX update containing household revamps, we take a few minutes to save the original version of the household and upload them to the Gallery. Simmers who prefer the original Sims 4 Calientes can now download them and replace their updated versions in all their new saves.

But hold on! Maybe you love the Sims 4 Caliente update! Maybe you want to replace the originals with the updated versions in all of your current saves created before the SDX drop! In that case, we’ve got you covered, too. We also took the time to upload The Sims 4 Caliente update to the Gallery.

Whether you love them or hate them, you can have whichever version of the Caliente household you prefer!

The Sims 4 Friendship Bracelets: Growing Together Guide

Exchange this classic symbol of friendship with the Sims closest to you!

Sims 4 Friendship Bracelets

Sims 4 Friendship Bracelets are a brand new feature with the 13th Expansion Pack! In The Sims 4 Growing Together, child and older Sims can make friendship bracelets and exchange them with other Sims they are very close to. Of course, this is a great way to add a little bit of extra depth to close relationships. Also, it’s very nostalgic. Who doesn’t remember making friendship bracelets to give to their best friend when they were a kid? I know I do!

We’re going to show you how to craft, exchange, and even take back the friendship bracelets your Sims make!

Sims 4 Friendship Bracelets: How to Make

Make Friendship Bracelet Interaction in Sims 4 Growing Together

To make a Sims 4 friendship bracelet, purchase a bead kit from Build/Buy. The kit is located in the Activities and Skills section, under Creativity. It’s a small open box with crafting materials inside. Place the kit anywhere you like on the lot and click on it to have your Sim start making a Sims 4 friendship bracelet. Friendship bracelets can also be made at a kid’s activity table. Child and older Sims can make friendship bracelets in The Sims 4 Growing Together.

Sims 4 Friendship Bracelets: Creating

It doesn’t take very much time to make a friendship bracelet. Once the bracelet is finished, it will be in your Sim’s inventory. Click on the bracelet and select someone on the lot to exchange it with. Friendship bracelets can only be exchanged between Sims who are at least Good Friends.

There are five different Sims 4 Friendship Bracelet styles. You can see them in the image below.

Sims 4 Friendship Bracelet Styles

If the Sim you wish to exchange bracelets with is part of the same household, you will have to make the other Sim craft a Sims 4 friendship bracelet, too. Both Sims within the same household need to have a friendship bracelet in their inventory in order to exchange them. If you want to exchange your Sim’s bracelet with a Sim who is not part of the active household, you can do so even if the other Sim doesn’t have a friendship bracelet in their inventory. The game will generate a friendship bracelet in The Sims 4 Growing Together for them to exchange with your Sim.

Child-Elder Sims can all exchange bracelets between each other. The Sims do not have to be the same age.

Wearing a Sims 4Friendship Bracelet

Beaded Sims 4 Friendship Bracelet

When you exchange friendship bracelets with another Sim in The Sims 4 Growing Together, you will have the exchanged bracelet in your Sim’s inventory and it will show up on your Sim’s wrist. You cannot remove or destroy an exchanged bracelet; that would be unforgivable! You must wait for the bracelet to fall off on its own over time.

Demand Friendship Bracelet Back Interaction

Of course, if you really don’t want the bracelet anymore, you can go to the Sim you exchanged bracelets with and demand your Sims 4 friendship bracelet back. This is a Mean interaction, under the Malicious sub-category. This interaction removes the friendship bracelet from both Sims but it also damages the relationship and causes a Hurt sentiment. Also, this interaction destroys both bracelets in the inventory so they can’t be exchanged with someone else.

Designate a Sims 4 Keepsake Box

Before a Sim is able to use Sims 4 Keepsake Boxes, the Keepsake box needs to be dedicated to this Sim. Only one Keepsake Box can belong to a Sim. As the game says, “An Elder Sim can only do this once, so choose a Keepsake Box wisely!”

Entrusting An Elder Sim’s Most Precious Belongings

Elder Sims are able to Entrust their The Sims 4 Keepsake Boxes to another family member or friend. Once it is passed down to another person, the Elder can no longer interact with the Keepsake Box and also cannot dedicate a new Keepsake Box. Choose wisely when entrusting a Keepsake Box to another Sim!

Ponder the Meaning of Family: Sims 4 Keepsake Box Interactions

Pondering the meaning of family

After a keepsake box has been dedicated, the elder (or the person the keepsake box has been entrusted to) can use it to “Ponder the Meaning of Family”. These interactions are not autonomous and require time before the Sim ponders again.

This allows the Sim to ponder the following concepts:

Family Means Being Together

Sims 4 keepsake boxes

Ponder Family Means Being Together and receive a Close Family Dynamic the next time the Sim speaks with any family member or spouse. This means that they will seek out and enjoy spending time with that family member or spouse more often.

Family Isn’t Everything

Ponder Family Isn’t Everything to receive the Distant Family Dynamic the next time the Sim speaks with any family member or spouse. The Distant Family Dynamic causes Sims not to autonomously interact with the other Sim.

Nobody Knows What Family Means

Ponder Nobody Knows What Family Means to remove any existing Family Dynamic between the Sim and any family or member or spouse they speak to next. This means that the two Sims will no longer have a Family Dynamic, thus allowing them to adopt a new one.

Family Isn’t Always About Getting Along

Ponder Family Isn’t Always About Getting Along to receive a Difficult Family Dynamic when the Sim next speaks with a parent, child, sibling, grandparent, or grandchild.

Family Means High Expectations

Ponder Family Means High Expectations to receive a Strict Family Dynamic the next time the Sim speaks with a parent, child, grandparent, or grandchild. This Family Dynamic creates a more obedient relationship between a Sim Parent/Grandparent and child/grandchild. If the child/grandchild breaks the rules, they will feel guilty.

Family Means Doting and Adoration

Pondering the meaning of family

Ponder Family Means Doting & Adoration to receive a Permissive Family Dynamic the next time the Sim speaks with a parent, child, grandparent, or grandchild. With the Permissive Family Dynamic, older family member will be more likely to let the younger family member get away with more, spoil, and shower with affection.

Family Means Unconditional Support

Ponder Family Means Unconditional Support to receive the Supportive Family Dynamic the next time the Sim speaks with a parent, child, grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece, or nephew. With the Supportive Family Dynamic, older Sims will autonomously comfort and support younger Sim family members.

Family Means Having Fun Together

Sims 4 keepsake boxes

Ponder Family Means Having Fun Together to receive the Jokesters Family Dynamic the next time the Sim speaks with any family member or spouse. The Jokesters Family Dynamic will causes Sims to laugh more around their family member.

The Sims 4 Keepsake Boxes: Black Photos Bug

black photo bug

As of May 2023, there is a bug that happens whenever a photo is placed in a not-shared inventory. All photos placed in this type of inventory (including keepsake boxes) will turn black with no way to recover them. For this reason, we don’t recommend using keepsake boxes to store photographs.

The keepsake boxes can safely be used to store other family heirlooms and trinkets, such as marriage licenses, birth and adoption certificates, baby print keepsakes, school drawings, and tooth fairy certificates.

For more information on this bug, see our article, The Sims 4 Black Photo Bug: Keepsake Box Breaks Photos.

Update on The Sims 4 Keepsake Boxes Bug Fix

Matthew J. Fahey (Mattnetic on Twitter), Principal Designer for The Sims, stated in a tweet that the Black Photo Bug had been fixed and would be delivered on a later date.

Exciting Life by You News Updates! Households and Worlds

Learn how to manage households and worlds in Life By You!

Announcement Event Life by You 0 0 screenshot 1 | Life By You News

The Life By You dev team has been hard at work giving us regular Life By You news! If you haven’t been keeping up with everything the Life By You team has been sharing, don’t worry! We’re here to catch you up on all the most important details. If you’ve been curious about how world management and household management will work in Life by You, you’re in luck because that’s exactly what the Life By You team recently went over on their YouTube channel, which you should totally subscribe to if you haven’t already, by the way!

Let’s get into everything that was shown off in some of Life By You’s latest informational videos!

Life By You News

How to Manage a Household in Life By You

It’s really exciting to see a development team being so transparent with its players right from the beginning, before early access even begins. All the Life By You news being shared shows so much respect for the players. The Life By You team has been giving us daily information on some of the features we can expect to see in early access, as well as walking us through original features and answering our questions about how those features work in the game. It helps build the excitement for September but also allows us to make an informed purchase when the game is available. This is a model that all development companies could learn from and replicate.

With that said, let’s dive into the nitty gritty about how to manage households and world in Life By You!

Household Management

https://youtu.be/3QS7PuhpCgU

Senior Game Designer for Life By You, Gabriel, walked us through how managing a household works in Life By You. He showed players how humans can be easily dragged and dropped between households right from the home screen. He also displayed how you can save specific humans to our library to use in a different game save if you want to, and you can do this while actively playing the household.

Players will also be able to easily add children, grandparents, boyfriend and girlfriends and more to a household with the click of a button. However, the most exciting aspect of managing a household in our opinion is how players can switch between households with a single mouse click without having to go through a loading screen or a menu. This Life By You news is something many life simulation players have been dreaming of for a long time!

World Management

https://youtu.be/SI61h4L5fxo

Of course, micro-managing so many humans on an individual household level can get tedious fast. The Life By You team has addressed this by showing off the game’s Human Editor. This is a powerful tool that will allow players to edit anyone in their town at any time quickly and easily.

Life by You news

The above video shows off how you can use the Human Editor to quickly find and select anyone in your world to play with at any time. Not only that, but players can edit almost anything about that human from this menu. Select any human from the list and change their name, job, money, XP, and more! You can even delete humans you don’t like and add randomly generated humans to the world through this editor. Don’t worry; you can still create your own humans in the Character Editor if you want greater control.

Life by You news

This latest Life By You news is super exciting and even though we’re already being spoiled with so much information, we’re already chomping at the bit for even more news as we get closer to early access on September 12th, 2023.

Never miss out on the latest Life By You news by keeping up with our Life By You category!
