Tell more stories with the new Science Baby feature!
The Sims 4 Growing Together livestream today revealed plenty of new information about not just Growing Together, but the base game update coming to The Sims 4 as well! We expected a lot of new information about infants. We did not expect to be surprised by the new Science Babies feature coming to The Sims 4. Yep, The Sims 4 is finally adding surrogacy options to the base game!
Science Baby Phone Options
Sims can now have a science baby with themselves or any adult Sim they have a friendly or romantic relationship with. There is a new option on the cell phone under the Home app called Have Science Baby in The Sims 4. You can choose to have a Science Baby as a single parent or have a Science Baby with another Sim. Furthermore, any non-related adult Sim you have a good relationship with will be available to select as the other parent.
Science Baby Sim Options
Sims 4 Science Babies: The Magic of Science!
It costs 1,200 simoleons to have a science baby in The Sims 4. When you have a science baby, the involved Sims will leave the lot for a period of time. Also, thanks to the magic of science, there is no pregnancy. Your Sims will return home with their new bundle of joy and skip the pregnancy stage entirely.
Congratulations – it’s a baby!
While some Simmers will no doubt be disappointed at having the pregnancy period eliminated from the Sims 4 science baby feature, this is still a major step forward for The Sims franchise. Simmers can tell all kinds of different stories using this feature. Same-sex couples can have biological children together without having to alter any settings in CAS. Single Sims can have a biological child on their own. Friends who aren’t romantic can choose to have a child together. The options are almost limitless. Moreover, we can’t wait to see what kinds of stories Simmers are going to tell using the new Science Babies feature in The Sims 4!

Family Dynamics make relationships more meaningful!
Today’s gameplay trailer for The Sims 4 Growing Together went more in-depth with a lot of features we already knew about, but it also revealed a new feature we haven’t seen before! Family Dynamics are a new feature of Growing Together and they shape the way each individual member of a household interacts with each other.
This is quite possibly the feature this author is most excited about, so let’s jump right into how Family Dynamics work in the Growing Together expansion!
The Sims 4 Growing Together: Family Dynamics
A common complaint of Simmers is that family members tend to treat each other like any other Sim. It feels like they don’t even recognise each other as family in a lot of cases. The new Family Dynamics system aims to fix that problem in The Sims 4 Growing Together.
The gameplay trailer showed us a married couple who are very much in love and happy. Obviously, they have a close Family Dynamic between each other. We’re shown a popup of the UI where the player can set the family dynamic between two Sims in CAS. Moreover, it looks like it’s located in the family relationships tab. We love that we have some control over how our family members view each other in Growing Together. It allows us to tell the stories that we want.
However, their son and daughter are not as close as they would like them to be. Their son is resentful of the fact that his baby sister is getting all the attention now. Also, he feels ignored and forgotten about. This has caused him to dislike his infant sister. Indeed, they have a difficult Family Dynamic. It’s really cool that even infants can have positive or negative family dynamics with their older relatives in Growing Together!
Furthermore, the different Family Dynamics we saw in the Growing Together trailer are Difficult, Distant, Close, and Jokesters. We don’t know if these are all the possible family dynamics coming with the expansion. We’re interested to see if there are more.
The era of Growing Together is finally here, and we’re getting the full gameplay look at the new features. The Sims Team will be doing a showcase of important new additions coming with Infants and Growing Together. Here are some of the things you can expect during the livestream:

The man behind The Sims 2 and 3 could be The Sims 4’s biggest competition!
For the past 23 years, The Sims franchise has dominated the life simulation genre. There hasn’t been a game that has truly been in direct competition with The Sims. While this is no doubt good for Electronic Arts and Maxis, is it good for the players? This is a question that has been asked by Simmers for years. With nothing to compete with, some could argue that The Sims doesn’t have to work too hard to keep its fanbase. That could all change, though! And the person leading the charge? The legend of life simulation games himself, Rod Humble!
According to the official Paradox Interactive website, Rod Humble and Paradox Tectonic are scheduled to announce a “ground-breaking new project” during the Paradox Announcement Show 2023, happening on March 6th.
Rod Humble as seen in The Sims 2 FreeTime, via Mod The Sims
Some Simmers may recognise the name Rod Humble. He became the Executive Producer of The Sims back in 2004. Humble was later promoted to Executive Vice President of The Sims label in 2008. He has since left Electronic Arts to work with other companies such as Linden Labs, the creators of Second Life. Moreover, he even made an appearance as a Sim in The Sims 2 FreeTime! The Sim version of Rod Humble would visit your lot and gift your Sims with a computer. The computer contained a teaser for The Sims 3.
Rod Humble’s involvement in The Sims goes back nearly two decades. His creative influence was largely responsible for the kind of humour and charm The Sims is known for. It’s this special brand of charm that other titles have a hard time competing with.
How do we know this new Rod Humble project is a life simulation?
We don’t know for sure, but the wording on the Paradox Interactive website suggests that this is the case.
Paradox Tectonic pushing boundaries
We’re expanding your creativity. Life simulator visionary, Rod Humble, and Paradox Tectonic are itching to unveil its new ground-breaking project.
The website specifically mentions Rod Humble’s reputation for spearheading life simulation projects. Also, it mentions that this new project is ground-breaking. If a new life simulation that could take on the giant of The Sims franchise is on the horizon, it truly would be ground-breaking for the genre.
Nevertheless, we don’t have any more details on what this ground-breaking project is. We expect to find out more on March 6th!
Give your world maps a facelift with these gorgeous custom map replacements!
If you’re tired of looking at the same drab, lifeless world maps in The Sims 4, you’ll be happy to know there are map replacements out there that can give your worlds a much-needed makeover in map mode! 20th Century Plumbobs is a storyteller-turned-CC-creator who’s taken it upon themself to replace the map for every world in The Sims 4. The maps are a more realistic version of the originals while still meshing with The Sims 4’s signature art style. It looks more like an aerial screenshot taken in-game than a stylized drawing like the original maps.
Before we get into the Sims 4 map replacements, it’s worth mentioning 20th Century Plumbob’s other work. A lot of their creations incorporate light-hearted humour. For example, their shirtless Don Lothario loading screens are very popular. So are their Ring Ring Girl loading screens. Of course, we can’t forget that 20th Century Plumbobs is a talented storyteller. As a passionate storyteller myself, this is something that really resonates with me on a personal level. You can check out their stories and Simified music videos on their YouTube channel!
The Sims 4 Map Replacements
But we know you’re here for map replacements in The Sims 4! Don’t worry, you won’t be disappointed! 20th Century Plumbobs is in the process of overhauling all of their existing maps to improve their colouration and textures. Not all of their maps have gotten overhauled, yet, but you can expect to see more worlds get added over time. We’ve got the full list of all currently available map overhauls right here for you! The best part? Some worlds have both a night and day version so you can keep certain worlds spooky if you want.
This Sims 4 map replacement of Willow Creek is absolutely stunning! Obviously, it’s more detailed and colourful than the original map. We really feel like we could reach out and touch those trees. This map brings the world to life and makes you want to play in it.
Additionally, this map replacement of Oasis Springs is as sunny and vibrant as the world itself in The Sims 4. Why didn’t the map just look like this to begin with?
Firstly, how did we never notice how beautiful and detailed Newcrest looks? Probably because the default map shows off none of this world’s natural beauty. Do Newcrest justice with this lovely Sims 4 map replacement.
Selvadorada is such a stunning world. It’s too bad we see none of it on the map… until now! This Sims 4 map replacement for Selvadorada does this colourful and vibrant jungle justice.
Also, this dreamy, romantic coastal world inspired by Italy and Greece looks even dreamier with this Sims 4 map replacement! We especially love the hot air balloon drifting peacefully in the top right corner.
This sleepy, rundown industrial world full of werewolves looks even more eerie with this nighttime Sims 4 map replacement. Obviously, it’s the perfect vibe for a dark occult playthrough.
Then again, maybe you just want to have a regular old human playthrough in Moonwood Mill and the dark spooky vibe doesn’t really fit. No problem! Because the daytime version of this Sims 4 map replacement is just as impressive!
Also looking for more maps? Additionally, you can find previous versions of maps for other worlds on 20th Century Plumbob’s Patreon! Keep an eye out for the overhauled versions of those maps coming soon!
Likes and dislikes determine social compatibility!
Social compatibility is a new feature coming with The Sims 4 Growing Together expansion pack. This feature was mentioned briefly before in previous promotional material for the pack but the gameplay trailer has given us a more in-depth look into how social compatibility works! We also saw some new likes and dislikes in the trailer!
So let’s get right to it and break down social compatibility in The Sims 4 Growing Together!
The Sims 4 Growing Together: Social Compatibility
Social compatibility is a bit like the chemistry system from The Sims 2 Nightlife, except it’s not exclusively romantic. All Sims can be either socially compatible or socially incompatible with each other in The Sims 4 Growing Together. We think this is a great concept because unlike the chemistry system, social compatibility has an impact on friendships and family relationships as well as romantic relationships! It’s much more far-reaching and encompasses many different types of relationships.
So what determines whether Sims are socially compatible or socially incompatible in Growing Together? It all comes down to their preferences! In other words, their likes and dislikes. Sims who have common interests will be socially compatible. Sims with nothing in common and Sims with opposing interests are more likely to be socially incompatible. This compatibility informs the way those Sims interact with each other. Indeed, this means interactions between individual Sims are going to be more personalized in Growing Together. Sims won’t interact the same way with everyone anymore. This is actually huge for the franchise!
The gameplay trailer for Growing Together showcased this by comparing a relationship between a child and his grandfather, and the grandfather with his son-in-law. The grandfather had a lot of common interests with his grandson, so they were socially compatible and got along really well. However, the grandfather and his son-in-law had a lot of interests that conflicted with each other, so they were socially incompatible, making a lot of their interactions negative.
New Likes and Dislikes
It’s worth mentioning that we also caught a glimpse of some new likes and dislikes in the Growing Together trailer, but we’re not 100% what they are. One icon featured the famous thinking statue and another showed a boxing glove coming out of a jack-in-the-box.
The upcoming expansion pack has certainly been causing a buzz within the community since its initial announcement last month.
We are greeted by the Michealson Family who have been our main focus during the expansion packs promotions. On Wednesday, The Sims team teased that a visitor was coming but did not allude as to who it was. However, it has now become clear as to who this visitor was. It was in fact, Grandpa Sebastian!
Of course, the gameplay trailer showcased a lot more than just Grandpa Sebastian making a visit. It showcased a lot of the new upcoming gameplay features. These include family dynamics, milestones, and social compatibility.

So, you’ve now seen The Sims 4 Growing Together gameplay trailer. What do you think?
Gameplay Trailer Community Reactions
Since the gameplay trailer was released, the community has been sharing their reactions online. From what we have seen, there has been a real variety of different reactions. While many players shared positive thoughts and opinions, some players were hoping to have seen more from the trailer. However, with this being said, we do know that there will be a live stream coming soon. Details as to when that will be are to be confirmed by The Sims team still.
Honestly, it being marketed as a gameplay trailer kind of lowered my excitement for the pack a little. It was fine, but definitely not a gameplay trailer. I also just don’t like their overly narrated trailers anyways, they feel too kiddish to me?
It’s not my favourite. It was still fun to get a new trailer, but I don’t feel like I learned much. I’m super excited about all of the new gameplay though, and I think we’ll feel more satisfied after the livestream 😊
Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a great and long awaited EP for simmers (such as myself) who have been wanting more family gameplay added in. However I felt more could have been involved and revealed in the gameplay trailer that was more gameplay related other than the dynamics.
The gameplay trailer had a lot to unpack. However, we want to know what you are looking forward to the most in The Sims 4 Growing Together! We’ve created a quick poll where you can select your top two favorite things from the list below.

Welcome to our fifteenth official Sims 4 Story Starter Kit! If you missed all the info on our Story Starter Kit series, you can read more about what they are and how they work in our introductory article!
This month, we’re bringing you a pair of newlyweds who are starting a family sooner than expected and dad’s not so sure he’s ready for fatherhood.
Story Starter Kit: Oh Baby, No!
Isaac, being the middle child of a whopping twelve kids, knew from a young age that he didn’t ever want a big family. As in, no children at all. Ever. He grew up being either pestered or forgotten about by all his siblings and even his parents. There was never any in-between. Either he was in the way or he didn’t exist. There were eleven other children all fiercely competing for the attention of two people who only had so much attention to give. This family dynamic created a strong dislike of children in Isaac as he got older. He saw them as nothing more than little energy leeches, sucking all the happiness out of every adult around them.
But he did always admire the love his parents had for each other. It seemed to be the only positive thing in the house he grew up in. He always knew he wanted to get married to someone he loved just as much as his father loved his mother. She’d just have to be okay with never having children. When he met Danika at a coffee shop on his lunch break, he knew from the moment he saw her that he wanted her to be his wife one day. It was love at first sight, just like the movies.
But Danika came from a very different background than Isaac. She was an only child of divorced parents and she was always lonely as a kid. She wished she had a big happy family with lots of siblings to play with and two parents under the same roof who loved each other. Isaac’s nightmare childhood was Danika’s dream childhood. The kind of childhood she wanted to give her own kids one day. She made her desire for lots of children very clear to Isaac early on in their relationship. It was a point of tension for them but blinded by love, they each clung to the hope that the other would change their mind one day if they just stuck it out long enough.
Fast forward a few years and Danika and Isaac bought their first home together as newlyweds. Danika thought the second bedroom would be the perfect baby nursery but Isaac planned to turn it into an office space. Isaac almost won that argument… until Danika took a pregnancy test. It was positive. Danika’s dream, but Isaac’s nightmare was coming true, whether Isaac liked it or not.
Isaac came up with a million semi-valid reasons for why he didn’t jump for joy when Danika told him the “good” news. Their house was too small to raise a family. They were both just getting started in their careers and weren’t financially stable enough for a baby, yet. Isaac needed that second bedroom for a home office. But the real reason was that he just didn’t want to be a father. At all. Period.
Still, he loves Danika more than anything in the world. Maybe just one baby won’t be so bad. Not if it’s with Danika… right? But the more Danika gushes about the baby, the more Isaac dreads the day the baby actually arrives. While his wife is busy furnishing the baby nursery and painting beautiful things to decorate it, Isaac is running away from his problems by fishing; a hobby he finds relaxing after a stressful day at the office. And stressful nights at home, too, apparently.
Will Isaac change his outlook on children once he holds his own child in his arms? Or will the new arrival signal the end of a once-loving marriage, giving their child the same sad, lonely childhood Danika had? Does some kind of middle ground even exist in a situation like this?

The Sims 4 Sleepover Sleepwear Set is available only for EA Play subscribers.
Well that’s weird!
We’ve been reporting about a new Sims 4 Sleepover Sleepwear set since early February. Ever since the last Patch for The Sims 4 players were able to uncover a new set of Sleepwear Clothing in the game files.
Today, we’ve checked the official stores to see if the new set is available. News flash – it’s out! But with a subscription…
Sims 4 Sleepover Sleepwear Set – Where to find it?
The latest set of pyjamas is available only if you’re a subscriber to EA’s game subscription model – EA Play. If you’re subscribed to this service model then you’ll be able to unlock the set.
EA_Cade has confirmed that The Sims 4 Sleepover Sleepwear Set is exclusive only for Consoles. The Set is excluded from being released on PC / Mac, even though they’re available in the game files.
Although the rumor mill has generally been “if it’s in the game files then surely it’s coming for free”, this console subscription deal breaks the streak.
The said set is available on PC and Consoles for folks who have the EA Play subscription. So far, the listing for this set has been spotted on Microsoft Store and Playstation Store. The EA Desktop App should have a game page soon as well.
EA hasn’t made an official announcement as of now as the set has been released quietly. We’ll update you with more information as we discover more. Stay tuned for more updates!
What are your thoughts on this seperate subscription release for The Sims 4?

Countdown to The Sims 4 Infants Update
[janky target_time=”1678813200″ color=”#00580a”]
What’s included in this Patch?
There are several major features that have been revealed to come to The Sims 4 Base Game. Some which yet have to be announced!
Infants Life Stage
An entirely new life stage called Infants will be waiting for you in Create A Sim and Live Mode. You’ll be able to create your Infant Sim from scratch, choose new Traits, CAS Items and Clothing and play with the life stage in Live Mode.
The Infants Life Stage is entirely new, meaning that if you’re expecting to play with them naturally in Live Mode – you’ll have to grow out of the Baby / Newborn stage first. Click here for more information on Gameplay!
There’s loads of new Build Objects coming to The Sims 4 Base Game as well, mostly revolving around Infants.
CAS Skin Details
There’s more to the update than just a life Stage! Stretch Scars, Birth Marks and even Cesarean Scars are coming for all life stages to The Sims 4. From Infants to Elders, you’ll be able to assign an entire new set of Skin Details for your Sims.
The Sims 4 developer confirmed that The Sims 4 will be getting a reorganized pie menu when performing Social Interactions. Although we haven’t gotten a screen preview of what this will look like just yet, we’ll keep you posted.
…and more!
There are plenty of more features confirmed to come in the upcoming Base Game Update. Check out the breakdown:
Now, it’s worth repeating that this is a very large update for The Sims 4. Meaning that some precaution measures to protect your Save Files and / or Mods and CC are recommended!
If you’re playing The Sims 4 on Playstation or Xbox a simple Save File backup is all that we recommend. If you’re playing The Sims 4 vanilla style on your PC / Mac then creating a backup of your Saves is also recommended.
However, if you’re playing the game on PC or Mac with Custom Content and Mods installed then we recommend some extra steps.
Lastly, if you’re playing The Sims 4 on PC / Mac with Curseforge Mods Hub then the best advice is to wait for your favorite Modders and Creators to update their content. In case such CC / Mods are not compatible with the new Sims 4 version you should be expecting an auto-update for your content soon.

Sometimes, it’s the little things that really make a game feel immersive. One such small detail from past Sims games that’s missing in The Sims 4 is functional alarm clocks. For the most part, Sims tend to wake up at 6am every morning, provided that their Energy bar is full by 6am. While this may work fine for some Sims, other Sims will have trouble waking up in time to go to their night shift jobs. If your Sim’s lifestyle requires them to wake up at a different time, it’s largely up to the player to remember to wake their Sim up at that specific time. This can lead to Sims missing work, school, social events, afters-school activities, and more. The Sunrise Alarm Clock Mod for The Sims 4 can solve these problems!
Sunrise Alarm Clock Mod in The Sims 4
The Sunrise Alarm Clock Mod is by Lot51 and conveniently hosted on CurseForge! Players can automatically download and install the mod into their games through the CurseForge Mod Manager app. Also, remember to download the Core Library mod, which is required for the Sunrise Alarm Clock mod to work. The Core Library mod is also hosted on CurseForge. All links will be provided at the end of this article.
The mod is base game compatible but having High School Years can enhance certain features.
Once both the Sunrise Alarm Clock Mod and the Core Library are installed in your game, you’ll find the Reclaimed Wood Grain Alarm Clock in the Alarms section under Electronics. If High School Years is installed, the Bread n’ Butter Toaster Alarm Clock will have a Sunrise-compatible version available. Also, all ofScumbumbo’s TS2 conversion alarm clocks are automatically compatible with this mod.
There is a Sunrise option available on all compatible alarm clocks. Click it for options to set an alarm, manage existing alarms, or enable daily news reports.
Creating and Managing Alarms
When creating an alarm, you can choose a specific time of day for your Sim to wake up, have them wake up two hours before their career shift starts, or have them wake up with the sunrise. You can specify which days of the week you want your Sim to wake up to their alarm, too. So your Sims can enjoy a lie-in on their days off work! Also, you can set multiple alarms for your Sim for multiple days of the week if they need to be up at different times on certain days.
Furthermore, you can create alarms for specific Sims on the alarm clock. If your Sim shares a bed with a romantic partner, their partner won’t wake up to your Sim’s alarm. Likewise, your Sim won’t wake up to their partner’s alarm. If only it worked like that in real life!
If you want to temporarily disable an alarm or delete an alarm, you can do that too through the Manage Alarms menu.
The Daily Report
Your Sim can catch up on all the latest news as soon as they wake up to their alarm clock. Enable The Daily Report to get the weather and local news when your Sim shuts off their alarm. A popup notification tells you what the weather is like that day. Also, it tells you the three most recent Neighbourhood Stories.
Reward Traits
The Sunrise Alarm Clock Mod for The Sims 4 comes with two reward traits. One is Bedrock, which causes your Sim to sleep through their alarm a lot. The other is Rise n’ Shiner, which ensures your Sim always wakes up to their alarm.
The Bedrock trait only costs 25 Satisfaction Points. The Rise n’ Shiner trait is more expensive but still an affordable 225 Satisfaction Points.
Download the Sunrise Alarm Clock Mod for The Sims 4!
You can download the Sunrise Alarm Clock Mod from CurseForge! Remember to download the Core Library mod, too. The alarm clock mod will not work without it.
The rumored free set for The Sims 4 is set to release February 28th!
In the beginning of February we reported about new CAS Content coming to The Sims 4. Some of the contents that have been locked in the live version of the game were shown in the game files. As reported by several modders in the community.
Check out some of the previews below:
French Sims platform LuniverSims also reported on what now could be an in-game cover of this Create A Sim set.
Sims 4 Sleepover Sleepwear Set Release
Popular insider for content releases @alumia_italia has reported on a new Set release for The Sims 4.
The Sims™ 4 Sleepover Sleepwear Set (Release Date: February 28) | XBOX
Among expected other platforms, the insider reports that The Sims 4 Sleepover Sleepwear Set will have a release in its own content form on February 28th. Nothing is known officially, but we’re assuming this could be a free Set release. The set doesn’t have a Kit or Pack title tag next to it. Plus, the amount of new content from what we’ve seen assures this could be a free drop.
Whether it’s another new Sims 4 Free Set or just an SDX Drop, we’ll be there to update you on the news. Stay tuned on Sims Community!
Changes are coming to The Sims 4’s social pie menu!
The Sim Gurus have been dropping lot of new information about The Sims 4 Growing Together on Twitter and if you’ve been following the tweets, it’s hard not to feel hyped for all the new content coming in March. One tweet by SimGuruNinja was easy to go unnoticed in all the chatter, but we caught it! SimGuruNinja hinted that there are changes coming to The Sims 4 pie menu!
The Sims 4: New Pie Menu
If you don’t know what the pie menu is, we’re referring to the list of social options that pops up whenever you click on a Sim in Live Mode. This pie menu style of social options has been a staple of The Sims series since it’s original inception back in 2000. Over the years, as more social interactions were added to the game, the pie menu was divided into Friendly, Mean, Funny, and Romantic categories for easier navigation. The update coming before The Sims 4 Growing Together will change the pie menu again.
I’m actually lowkey excited for the pie menu re-org coming with the update 😯
Currently, in The Sims 4, the default pie menu claims to be “smart.” It suggests the most relevant options for the current conversation first. However, most Simmers choose to change the pie menu to The Sims 3 style in the Game Options. The Sims 3 style pie menu is divided into social categories. Most players agree that it’s much easier to find what you’re looking for in this menu. We hope the upcoming update will make things easier!
The Current Pie Menu is a Mess
Traditional Social Menu (The Sims 3 Style)
Nevertheless, even with The Sims 3 pie menu enabled, it’s a pain to click through all the options. I notice the tediousness of the pie menu the most with my SuperSim. She has every interaction unlocked from skills, careers, and aspirations. She has literally hundreds of social options to click through. It takes ages to find the interaction I want.
Dynamic Social Menu (The Sims 4 Style – Default)
So what exactly is changing with the pie menu? We don’t know for sure. SimGuruNinja did not give details, but since he was discussing The Sims 4 Growing Together, we’re hopeful that there will at least be a new Family category where all the family-related interactions are located. Also, with new features coming like social compatibility, family dynamics, and milestones, we wouldn’t be surprised to see support added for these special relationships.
The new Pie Menu update is expected to come with the Infants Base Game Update. Arriving March 14th!
