During this year’s Sims Camp we had a chance to get our hands on The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs Expansion Pack, including the latest build of The Sims 4 that was available at that time.
We noticed a brand new tool in The Sims 4 Game Settings that can help reduce all your issues with Sims being culled in the game.
There’s a “cap limit” for Sims in each save game. The current version of The Sims 4 has a maximum amount of 180 Sims allowed in one save game but with The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs’ free content update you’ll get 4 different options:
- 50
- 100
- 200
- Unlimited
There is something you need to know when choosing the unlimited option. The game itself will let you know that the game engine might run into a few hiccups here and there as you progress in your save game which will only make it more difficult to load the save game and jump between the loading screens.
Don’t want to lose your favorite households but also think that your computer can’t handle the “unlimited” option? You can pick households in the Household Manager and pick the ones you like as your favorite ones. The ones you marked as your favorite will not be culled when exceeding the Sim cap limit.

Now this is awesome@! I’ll be setting mine to 200 though lol.
Wait, why do Brent and Brant look so different? Is this from an earlier build of the game, or were they modified?
I wish they had a 300 cap option. I have a gaming computer, but I got it in 2015, and my bloated tray folder is already slowing my game loading time down (along with several gigs of custom content).
