The Sims 4

Multiple Worlds for The Sims 4 are “in progress”

SimGuruGrant has started another Q&A session today on twitter answering questions about The Sims, its development and usually stating that he can’t talk about future content.

Grant answered a question asking what are some of his favorite worlds in The Sims 4 so far. He answered with Windenburg, San Myshuno and “some of the ones in progress”.

This isn’t really a groundbreaking news article considering that The Sims Team has already confirmed that they plan to deliver new content for The Sims 4 for at least the next 3 years. We’ll just have to wait and see which packs and worlds they’ll have to offer during that period…

Maybe there are multiple ones being made cuz they’re kinda testing a possible CAW Tool? (Let me dream, damn it)

As much as I would love that too, I’ve heard that it’s not going to happen 🙁

I’d love to see them get into releasing worlds just as a standalone property, like they did with Sims 3 and like they started to do with Sims 4 with Newcrest. It doesn’t even have to have any new stuff with it, like the Sims 3 worlds did. But at least with Sims 3 we had CAW to make our own if we didn’t like any of the worlds that came with a pack. With Sims 4 we’re stuck with what we’re given. It would be nice to have a few more options than the ones we got. We’re four years in and only have six and a half. (Newcrest, with its empty lots and bland scenery, only counts as a half imo. Forgotten Hollow should probably be a half as well, since it’s so tiny, but at least it has a unique feel to it and several built and occupied lots.)

I would be more than happy to pay $10 for a rural farming world, or a Western ranching community, or a tucked away village, or another urban area, or another European city, or even something non-Western like an Al Simhara or Takemizu Village. (Although those would probably need to include extra items, as the vast majority of items in the Sims 4 are very Euro-American themed.) Or a habitable Granite Falls / Selvadorada. And I happen to know for a fact that the fandom would LOSE THEIR EVERLOVING MINDS if the devs released a tropical world, even if it’s only a destination world and not habitable. Bonus points if the beach/water is routable!

It seems like it would be a win-win — a cheap and easy way to make some extra money for EA, and a cheap and easy way for us to expand our gameplay.

It would be awesome if they could make a landlord career. It would be a work from home type career or even a side job, like painting or gardening. Buy homes/apartments/empty lots, fix up as you please. Get calls in the middle of the nights as you are sleeping because the sink is leaking, lightning hit something or the place is on fire. When someone wants to move it, three choices pop up saying these three families are interesting in so and so place. You choose who you want to move in. Etc.
