The Sims 4’s latest Game Update brought tons of clues of what’s to come to The Sims 4 – more specifically the new Pack Type that is being introduced.
In the game files the codes mention of a new pack type called Kits. These kits seem to be smaller than Stuff Packs and will contain different themes for Gameplay, Build and CAS content.
Down below you can check out the first kits that have been revealed, including:
- The Sims 4 Country Kitchen Kit
- The Sims 4 Bust The Dust Kit
- The Sims 4 Throwback Fit Kit
The game code strings then explained just a little bit more what kits are:
- What is a Kit? Kits are mini bits of content designed to enhance the way YOU play!
- Explore Our Kits Each Kit is a little bit different. Play around!
Later in the files there’s also screenshots from each Kit, including:
Country Kitchen Kit
Bust The Dust Kit
Throwback Fit Kit
It’s not known when these kits will be coming to The Sims 4 but it’s for sure ready to be released any time now! Stay tuned for more info on our website!
i hate that this exists but the kitchen set looks SO cute i love it
I think this is actually really smart. As long as they are like 5 dollars a pop. This could be a great way to give us some of the items and themes we’ve all been wanting but don’t necessarily fit into a pack idea.
Okay, I am totally getting that kitchen kit, but it also tells me that they are probably NOT planning on a farming style pack, because otherwise they would have country kitchen items in that.
They could do a farming stuff pack though. Mainly for a farming pack it really needs to bring a new world with it to move that pack from GP or EP because parts of farming is part of the game through gardening. New harvestable, foods, cows and chickens would fit into a stuff pack depending on how involved they are. Without a world involved it may be a harder sell. At least five lots minimum of a GP.
We already have 2 farming packs(Seasons & Eco Lifestyle) tho. What you’re describing is a ranching pack
By what definition are the Seasons and Eco Lifestyle “farming” packs? They are not anywhere close to farming. Don’t forget, ranches and farms = same thing in many countries. We don’t have ranches in Australia. Farms = cows, pigs, horses, crops, etc. Farm life.
If your garden is big enough for a scarecrow, its a farm. General farming =/= ranching. Eco Lifestyle adds in Hydroponics, which you find in many sci-fi city builders as apart of their farms. Eco also gave us toilet composting. If we got a general farming, there is a higher chance of it only giving us tractors and not horses, chickens & other animals you’d find on a RANCH. A crop farm is what you’d see as a farm if you look at various other games like the Tropico franchise(where you own an Island nation off the coast of america that is basically meant to be Cuba) and a ranch would generally be a farm where the produce comes directly from animals. A general farming pack would legit just be Seasons 2.0 adding in like 20 new crops and tractors. It wouldn’t add any of the animals ya’ll want but it’d be exactly what you asked for, a farming pack
Actually we might tho. Kitchens are rarely put in packs as they got a object limit for those, and the counters & cabinets eat up that limit too much. This is a way of getting the kitchen out of a farming pack so we can get more objects and possible gameplay attached to them when a farming pack actually comes. EA being EA with the limitation while Maxis is tryna actually please us. It is what is is.
Stuff packs have slowly evolved since the moschino pack so they’re a bit more fuller so these kits seems to be more like what stuff packs use to be. Some nice realism with the vacuuming. Makes me curious if this will follow into sims 5 or if they’ll be bringing back the sims store.
I can predict a lot of ppl being hateful towards this new pack type. Depending on the price I actually kinda like it. It’ll supply the kind of content the Store from TS3 used to.
Since they’re even smaller than Stuff Packs, I wonder if they’ll bring SimPoints back in some form? Very unlikely since this is EA, but one can dream…
I don’t understand why they made these new packs when we’ve already got stuff packs? How will these affect gameplay? And how much will they cost? Also…Those dust bunnies in that photo are HUGE. I see cutesy kiddy art direction they’re still continuing with like what they did with the specters in the paranormal pack.
Stuff packs are no longer just stuff packs now. They’re more involved than they were before moschino. These kits feel more like a traditional stuff pack. A modder may change it but for some they may prefer this cutesy style or are just indifferent compared to the actual gameplay itself.
I don’t like that they do this, they are objects that could have been put in different packs, I have to admit that the kitchen packs are very nice and the one with the vacuum cleaners has the detail that the floor gets dirty and the fluff, but I still think that EA no longer seeks to encourage simers but to earn money by releasing more and more paid content, instead of giving incentives to give the odd free pack, instead of the objects that they put in the updates, I do not complain about these since everything whatever is free is appreciated.
I’d rather see niche stuff like vacuuming being limited to its own dirt cheap pack than seeing it take up precious space in an expansion pack.
Obviously these things won’t fit into other pack types. As always people will complain how out of place it is. Or how they don’t want an entire pack dedicated to throw back CAS or cleaning gameplay. There probably $5 a pop, not bad at all.
Also lets be real they give us a lot of free stuff. They could simply give us none, they don’t owe it to us. They even add things that could’ve been pack exclusive to the base game; bikes from University, Sentiments Snowy Escape, photography from Get to Work, lounge chairs from Island Living ect.
They could’ve kept those pack exclusives easily. So many people are so entitled. 5 dollars isn’t a lot of money and if it is you should be focusing on other things lets be honest.
This is giving me sims 3 store vibes i personally like it hopefully they wont be over priced
It would be a mistake to price them above stuff packs. They should cost half the price. It’s a bit tricky with pricing since they look like older stuff packs (one main feature but mostly stuff).
So, they want me to pay money so my sim can…. vacuum their house… Which is something they should be able to do in base game… Right….
I will be frankly honest: I love stuffpacks. I liked them when they were simple, I like them now when they have a bit of gameplay. I like getting a random, small amount of stuff. However: I absolutely despise this news about these new “Kits.” Either reformat/rework an idea (or combine two different ideas together) for a gamepack if it’s too big, or remove unnecessary nonsense from a big idea and make a stuffpack sized stuffpack.
The kitchen set looks cute, but I’m NOT going to be nickel-and-dimed JUST for a nice kitchen. I have Realm of Magic and Island Living, and the lack of cabinets in those packs in addition with this news is INSULTING. I don’t want to buy a $20 dollar pack, and then buy a $5 dollar “kit” just to have cabinets!! If I’m going to be paying for overpriced packs, I would at LEAST like to pay for FINSIHED overpriced packs!
I would MUCH RATHER have a nice country style kitchen in a stuffpack that feels complete. Call it Summer Nostalgia stuff or something and throw in handmade/country style back yard furniture, a Tire Tree Swing, a Porch Bench Swing, a Canning Station or something. I don’t care.
Things I expect in a stuffpack: One or two hairs, one top and two bottoms, OR one full body outfit, maybe one thing for kids or toddlers if it makes sense, maybe a wallpaper or a floor, a handful of coordinating furniture and clutter, and maybe one mini gameplay item or interaction (the earbuds in Fitness stuff or the fitness channel on the tv) and a big gameplay item (the rock climbing machine.)
I expect more from gamepacks, and I expect an entire transformation of my entire gameplay with expansion packs. I don’t like the direction of EA is taking with kits. This is enormously insulting and frustrating.
“I would MUCH RATHER have a nice country style kitchen in a stuffpack that feels complete” then the stuff pack would come with much less objects to fulfill its theme and you’d be complaing even more, as they got different object limits to put in each type of pack. Counters & cabinets have too many objects (each variation/corner/etc counts as 1), so they eat up that limit A LOT. That’s why they always choose to leave them out.
I understand the frustration given the lack of content we faced since the game’s release. But I don’t believe this is insulting. I didn’t see anyone saying Sims 2 and Sims 3 stores were insulting… cause these kits are gonna be just like the sets we got in S3 store.
Lol at all the EA shills downvoting you for telling it like it is! Can’t believe they not only pay for all these overpriced packs but then defend EA’s money grabbing. Guess they don’t want to admit they’re being ripped off …
So basically this is the Sims 3 store items rebranded into overpriced nonsense, just you watch. I’m surprised it took them 7 years to replicate the absolute worst concept from the Sims 3 years to the Sims 4. Thunderous applause!
y’all always can predict the future like how much they cost. Would you tell me please? Since EA hasn’t announced it officially yet?
So I guess it will be like 5$ bc it’s smaller than a stuff pack and actually the vacuum pack got my full attention. It looks great. All of them actually are kinda cool and if they release new kits like every month or like every 2nd month it would be kinda cool. I think I will buy it. I like it.
And yes, sure they wanna make money. EA is a big ass company and they have a lot off ppl to pay so they intend to make a lot of money. Ofc they could hear more to the community but I think they’re on the right way with the community polls, bunk beds, working with cc creators and updating skin tones and hairs for black sims.
I like the idea. I see it as 1/3 of a stuff pack, where you normaly get cas items, objects and gameplay stuff, but you only get one of the three. I think in this way it lets them some place to put out there more niche ideas they have reserved.
Like the throwback fit, i know they already had concepts around the retro clothes, i can imagine how making a whole stuffpack about that would have been stupid.
I don’t mind paying for this at a fair price, they can take my money.
Most people are being hateful towards this but I think that its a great idea. I imagine that these are going to be cheaper than stuff packs meaning almost everyone will be able to afford them. If all you have is base game because you don’t have any money to spend on addons then this seams like a cheap way to spice up your game. Also these items look pretty cool.
There are DUST BUNNIES!!!
You know what, I can’t complain, I haven’t paid for this game since 2017. A pirate’s life for me. 🙂
I’m not being hateful more or less sarcastic and not surprised
So do I have to pay for the vaccuum bit when it should have already been included? lmao Unless it has a magical ability of sucking up piles of clothes on the floor because Laundry day is broken at least for me (honestly I have to sell piles of clothing) unless its like 5 or ten bucks sure? but shrug Throw back Fit shouldnt that have been in the fitness pack? I use to defend the Sims 4 but I’m not going to lie it’s legit getting harder and harder each time.
