Announced a little over a month ago–The Sims Card Game YaGoBuGi has officially released! Quite a surprising launch as The Sims Board Game just launched this past July. It’s starting to seem like EA and The Sims Team are beginning to pump out tabletop games as quickly as they pump out expansion packs for The Sims 4.
I digress, read on for more information about this brand new The Sims card game.

The Sims Card Game YaGoBuGi!
What Is It?
The Sims Card Game YaGoBuGi is a party game for 3-6 players ages 8 and up. The cover specifically states “Fluency in Simlish not required,” which shows knowledge of The Sims series is not necessary to play the game. This makes it more accessible to all potential players.

YaGoBuGi is published by Goliath Games, a game company with an extensive catalog. They also published the previously mentioned The Sims Board Game.
Details on the game itself are quite sparse because, as of EA’s release announcement, there isn’t an official product page for the game on EA’s website or Goliath Games’s website. At this point in time, all release announcements for the game point to the Amazon sale page which is quite vague with the description.

Rules
I want to start off by saying I’m a pretty big board game nerd. I’ve played hundreds of different games and I am always teaching my friends new ones. Some of my favorite titles are Everdell, Quacks, Unfair, and Hot Streak, if you’re curious.
Long story short, I’m not new to board or card games. It takes a lot for game rules to confuse me.
Having said that, I cannot figure out what the rules of the game are based on the Amazon description listed below.
- SIMLISH, THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE OF THE SIMS: Speak it, shout it, match it in a fast-paced, fun game that feels like a Simlish conversation gone delightfully off the rails
- MATCH AND COLLECT: Draw your Ya-Go-Bu-Gi cards, build words of 2, 3, or 4 syllables, and say them out loud. Match your phrase with another player to earn Simoleons.
- USE MULTIPLE SKILLS: Mix, match, negotiate, and yap your heart out as you play. The longer the matched phrase, the bigger the stack of Simoleons.
- ENDLESS LAUGHS: No two rounds ever sound the same. Easy to learn, endlessly replayable, and guaranteed to spark giggles.
It by no means sounds difficult, I’m just struggling to figure out where the GAME aspect comes into play. You draw cards. You swap cards. You somehow decide when to play cards as a made up Simlish word and if you match with someone else, you get simoleons based on the length of the word.
Without official rules being posted anywhere online it’s difficult to say what the gameplay is actually like. With the description above, The Sims Card Game YaGoBuGi sounds like a pretty mindless game with little player input. Maybe I’ll be surprised once the official rules make their way online in the future.
Price
The Sims Card Game YaGoBuGi retails for $15 USD or the equivalent in your currency. This is five dollars cheaper than their previously released The Sims Board Game.
Where to Buy
Currently the only retailer with the game available for purchase is Amazon. I wouldn’t be surprised if more retailers have the game available as a later time. Target, for instance, sells The Sims Board Game, so it makes sense they’d also sell YaGoBuGi.
