The Sims Team has released a brand new Update for The Sims 4 for Console devices – Xbox One and PS4!
Patch Notes
Update: 08/22/2019 – v1.18
When you load up The Sims 4, don’t worry. Even though the game looks different, it is the same game you love underneath. Well, kind of. It is the same game with some cool new features and additions that you can use to expand the way you play.
What’s New?
New Look
In the last update we made some changes to the look of The Sims 4 but promised there was more to come. In this update, The Sims 4 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One has the full refresh including a new Main Menu, with built in videos and new Sims cast and more. While the Main Menu has a new look, we kept the option for you to pick your own favorite image that you see.
CAS Stories
Once upon a time, there was a Sim making a salad when it spontaneously caught fire. Who would have thought cooking a salad could be so dangerous? Sorry, this isn’t that kind of story. CAS Stories will help you step outside of your comfort zone with your Sims. By completing a short quiz with a random selection of questions, your new Sim will be generated with personality and starting conditions based on your answers. Sims will end up starting out with a career, various skills, and different levels of starting household funds! If you prefer to create your Sims your way then you can continue to do just that.
New Cheat
You might have heard about a new cheat in Build mode which will unlock a new set of Unknown objects for use on your lots. Bring up the cheat menu and use the cheat bb.showliveeditobjects to enable the cheat. After putting in the cheat, open the Search panel in Build/Buy and press RT (Xbox One) / R2 (PlayStation 4) to apply a blank search. You should find the new Unknown items at the bottom of your Build/Buy categories. To disable the cheat, type bb.showliveeditobjects false. How many new objects are there? No one knows for sure but there are potentially hundreds of new decorative objects depending on what packs you have installed. These objects are environment objects, which our artists use when creating worlds. As such they are not optimized for on lot use, so please be aware when using this cheat. The most obvious issue you may notice is that Sims will walk through these objects. Most importantly, using this cheat will not disable your ability to earn Trophies or Achievements.
Sims Cast in My Library
My Library just got more crowded with the arrival of FORTY Sims, some classic and some new. In no particular order they are *DEEP BREATH*Dela Ostrow, Hunter Evans, Jayden Armstrong, Zoe Flores, Morgan Park, Mia Hayes, Camille Abbiza, Sydney Wright, Noah Meyer, Armand DiAggro, Sophia Jordan, Babs L’Amour, Cassidy Purdue, Ollie Purdue, June Kay, Holly Vinedal, Andre DaSilva, George Rivers, Sean Sullivan, Erroll Dowd, Amber Stein, Lacey Stiles, Kai Kahue, Steve Fogel, Kaiden Bryant, Li Loh, Ross Valentine, Brent Hong, Gael Gonzalez, Gabby Gonzalez, Kierra Tilo, Emiko Mori, Tristen Palmer, Tommi Turner, Aliya Fuego, Kat Jenkins, Valeria Lopez, Kasen Henry, Marco Russo, Kurt Lumberjackson. *PHEW*
General Issues
Building takes time, skill and vision. We added a whole new level of difficulty for Simmers that opened the cheat menu by preventing the walls from being toggled. While some might say that cheaters never win, we don’t think they meant quite like this so toggling the walls should work at all times you need it to now.
Hark, what light through yonder window breaks? Well if you happened to move your glass doors or windows around, the window itself would break. You should no longer see the remains of a window or glass door that once was when you move the object or the room it was part of.
When visiting the Chez Llama Restaurant in Forgotten Hollow, Sims should no longer be rapidly blinking in and out of existence.
City Living
The Welcome Wagon will no longer invite themselves into your home if you decide to call the 1 Torendi Tower Penthouse lot, home.
Outdoor Retreat
Sims like to get away from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives just like the rest of us. Some Sims that purchased and moved into a vacation home in Granite Falls would never be able to leave. When the vacation ends, Sims can go back to their daily lives in other worlds no matter how humdrum that life might be.
Evil Sims will be more cunning and mischievous when left to their own devices during a visit to Granite Falls. When they have max mischief they will gladly sabotage tents autonomously.
Parenthood
Help with homework or don’t? The life of a teen Sim can be tough but helping with homework shouldn’t freeze your Sims anymore. Unless it is a question that really stumps your Sim.
Jungle Adventure
Sims that setup the Selvadoradian Craft Sale Table will now be able to use the Clear Table interaction once they are ready to pack up.
Unlocking a gate using a Relic will give you the unlock knowledge when you highlight the relic and will tell you which gate type it will unlock. No more trying every relic on the key chain to find the one that fits.
Laundry Day Stuff
Interacting with your washer/dryer won’t cause your Sim to “Go Here.”
Some Simmers asked for more Island Living builds in My Library, so we’ve added a selection for you to use in any world, but they look especially good in Sulani.
The Sims 4 Base Game is turning 5 years on September 2nd, 2019 and many are wondering if the game could possibly be getting some new content in the game to celebrate the occasion.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet if the anniversary surprise is a free content update for The Sims 4 or not, SimGuruFrost did tease on twitter that they definitely have something in plan to celebrate this occasion:
Interestingly enough The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack is coming out on September 10th, meaning that the game will be getting a new update to prepare for the pack. The upcoming update, along with preparations for Realm of Magic, could also include some new content as well.
The Sims 4 for Xbox One and PS4 is finally getting a brand new update today with some long-awaited changes, additions and improvements that were already added to The Sims 4 for PC / Mac last month.
SimGuruFrost announced that the update is coming today and will include some of the following additions:
Console simmers, your time has come for an update and it’s coming TOMORROW! You’ll be getting the new main menu look, CAS stories, the new bb.showliveeditobjects cheat, 40 new Sims in ‘My Library,’ and a bunch of bug fixes.
EA Careers page has updated their Maxis Careers Page with new job positions. Among the new job opportunities to work on The Sims 4, they’ve also listed two job openings for people to apply and work in their brand new studio in Austin, Texas!
EA has its own headquarters in Austin where they’ve developed multiple titles such as Anthem, Star Wars, EA Sports games and more.
ea austin body image2.png.adapt .crop16x9.1455w 1 e1566479296969
ea austin body image7.png.adapt .crop16x9.1455w e1566479286670
ea austin body image4.png.adapt .crop16x9.1455w e1566479268484
This is the first mention of Maxis having a studio in Austin, but that’s not all.
The job opportunities listed for Maxis Austin state that a whole new IP (intellectual property) is starting with development! This means that a brand new video game franchise is now in the works.
Check out what’s been mentioned in the EA Careers page:
Creative Director
Maxis is seeking an experienced Creative Director to drive the creative vision of future products developed in our Austin studio. You will lead, foster and mentor an experienced team of developers working on a new IP, crafting the vision and leading the execution of a compelling, innovative and immersive experience. Your strong mix of creative and leadership experience in PC products, mobile titles and live service allows you to inspire the team, provide and communicate vision, drive innovation and create incredible experiences for our players. You should possess a deep understanding of the new trends driving player expectations and engagement.
Sr. Character Technical Artist
Maxis is looking for a talented Character Technical Artist / Technical Animator. We are gearing up for our next big production and we need some passionate teammates to collaborate with to bring our new characters to life. If you are passionate about characters, rigging, & animation pipelines, bringing the latest trends in technology to bear against your craft, and collaborating with others to develop best in class character experiences for new IPs … come join our team.
Currently we have no information which new title they are working on, but considering that the nature of Maxis has always been to deliver simulation games (The Sims, SimCity, Spore) it feels like this new IP will be no exception.
Yesterday’s announcement of The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack also brought plenty of new information from SimGurus. Although we’ve made a huge collection of all the tweets published HERE, some might prefer to just jump straight to the factual information.
Luckily EngramPixels provided us with a very useful list of all the information we have on this Game Pack so far including facts about the World, Spellcasters, Familiars and more. Huge thanks to Engram for taking the effort to make this handy list!

It’s no secret that everyone (including myself) have been screaming “Witches!” at the top of their lungs ever since the release of The Sims 4.
Although it was known since June that The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack would be coming, none of us knew the exact details of the pack until The Sims Team decided to fully reveal the pack yesterday.
The last few packs including StrangerVille and Island Living have both been revealed using the YouTube Premiere feature and Realm of Magic was no exception.
The Realm of Magic Trailerwhich premiered yesterday at 8AM PT / 5PM CET managed to get over a million views in less than 18 hours – making it the most anticipated pack in The Sims Franchise’s history!
The pack’s trailer even managed to reach the 4th spot on YouTube’s Trending list. We took the screenshot to capture over a million views but at the time the trailer was on the 5th spot.
Interestingly enough even The Sims 4 Base Game’s reveal back in August 2013 wasn’t able to reach this record.
Previously the record was set by The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs Expansion Pack reveal which gathered a million views in 2 days. The last Game Pack to hold the record was StrangerVille with 1 million views in 3 days.
If the anticipation for Witches in The Sims 4 is this high who knows what record might be broken once The Sims Team finally decides to reveal and release University?
SimGuruNinja has updated his Twitter profile with a brand new cover featuring new elements from The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack!
The screenshot features plenty of new things coming to the game including the Skull Familiar, a brand new Fireplace, other new Build Objects and oh – if you look closely you can see the Spellcaster occult Plumbob!
In a series of tweets (that you can check out here) SimGuruRomeo confirmed that The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack will be bringing a brand new Trait that you can pick in CAS as well as two new Aspirations.
The first Aspiration is tied with Alchemy and the potion-making math, while the second aspiraiton is for Spellcasters.
2 new Aspirations. 1 for the Alchemy/Potion path, and one for the Spellcasting and energy path.
The new Trait is called The Magical Bloodline, allowing your Sims to become Spellcasters as they grow up – more specifically when they become Teens and older.
Yes. There is a new trait called The Magical Bloodline. This will allow your Sim to become a Spellcaster later in life.
With the announcement of The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack SimGurus have already started actively answering some of the most burning questions regarding this pack!
We’ve made a huge collection of twitter questions and answers down below that contain new information regarding the pack. Considering that it’s a huge list we’ll be making a new post rather than updating this one as soon as new tweets surface. You can catch up on all the latest news for this pack HERE!
Spellcaster progression will be very similar to Vampires, plus some. Not only will they have Perks and Curses, but we have added an entire Spellbook where they will log the Spells and Potions they have learned.
There will be 2 new worlds. World 1 is Glimmerbrook, where you will be able to live and move your Sims in. World 2 is The Magic Realm. You are not able to officially move into this world, but there is nothing stopping you from putting a bed on the lot. ;D
In order to be a Spellcaster you must select the Life State in CAS, or ask one of the 3 Sages for The Right of Ascension. The progression for a Spellcaster is very similar to Vampires, plus some.
You can create Spellcasters straight form CAS, or ask one of the 3 Sages to perform the Right of Ascension on your Sim. Only Spellcasters can learn magic.
In order to deliver the best experience possible for Spellcaster we wanted to double down and focus. This version of Spellcasters will have more Spells and Potions than any other Sims game. In total there are 24 Spells, 15 Potions, & several curses.
Yes. You can purchase form a variety of brooms. Once a broom is in your Sims inventory you can click on it to make that your preferred method of travel. You will now be able to fly anywhere.
Controlling the power of a Spellcaster takes all of Sims strength, there is no way they would be able to harness the dark arts of a Vampire and Spellcasting at the same time. In short… No
Nope, Magic is a secret art that Spellcasters will only perform in The Magic Realm. That does not stop the player from practicing magic wherever they choose.
Kids are able to have the Magical Bloodline dwell within them, but they are still too young to fully comprehend how to use the Magical Arts. It is not until they become a Teen that they will be able to realize their full potential.
If you own Cats and Dogs you will be able to designate your pet as a Familiar! You will be able to send them out to forage magical ingredients. They also will have cool sparkles around them. =D
The Magic Realm has 1 big lot and can be edited with the bb.enablefreebuild cheat. Glimmerbrook has 5 lots and functions just like any other normal world.
Can you provide a screenshot of what you are referring to? If I am thinking of the correct thing you can purchase a familiar for your Sim. These familiars will follow you around and protect your from Death. They work similar to the Streaming Drone.
Yes! one thing we really wanted to capitalize on was the customization of your Spellcaster. You can choose from a variety of Wands, Brooms, Spells, and Familiars. You can even choose to cast without a wand if that’s your thing.
This is correct. Glimmerbrook is the normal residential world. It contains a portal to The Magic Realm. The Magic Realm has 1 lot that you can customize using the bb.enablefreebuild cheat.
The Sages have done everything they can to hide the magical arts from normal mortals. The only way to access The Magic Realm is with the Portal, a Spell, or The Glimmerstone that is given to every Spellcaster.
We have 4 styles of magic. Practical, Mischief, and Untamed. These are represented by the 3 Sages. There is also a 4th style, Alchemy, this is the art of Potion crafting. You can mix and match styles if you like, or go down a single style. The choice is yours.
We added some special nodes and code to make the 3 Sages stay in their respective areas of the house. However, if you rebuild the entire lot the worst thing that will happen is the Sages will just walk around like normal Sims. Nothing too bad.
Like I mentioned, we really wanted to dive deep into customization of your Spellcaster. We didn’t want any familiar, wand, or broom to be better than the next. If you want the normal looking stuff it should not be worse than the crazy looking stuff.
This was something I really wanted to push for. It is a bit more complicated than a single tweet. If you tune into our Live stream on September 6th I will cover this in much more detail. Just know the portal is not the only way to travel to The Magic Realm.
You need the cauldron to make Potions, however if you have a cauldron you no longer need a stove! You can cook Mac N Cheese, Chili, and Cioppino in the cauldron. =D
There are a few voidcritters that are based off of myth and legends. Bubalus is a real life creature that can be tamed by children in the hamster cage. Veild possesses the powers of the cosmic void and might have origins in The Magic Realm.
Possible solution for your tiny living Spellcaster: Use the Glimmerstone to travel to The Magic Realm from anywhere. Use those cauldrons to craft potions. Each batch of potions yields 4 bottles. Learn the Copypasto Spell and copy your potions instead of brewing them again.
Broom like bat, New hair styles no new facial hair, no new hats, no capes or cloaks. We do have quite a bit of accessories to show off your Spellcaster tho.
The Crystal Ball looking things you see in the trailer are actually the Familiars. Think of them as little PokeBalls, except way more comfortable and luxurious for your Familiar. =D
Spells do affect reputation. However, their is no notion of a Bad or Good Spellcasters. You can choose which of the 4 styles you prefer tho. Practical, Mischief, Untamed, or Alchemy. pic.twitter.com/utpjo1ogdm
A Spellcaster can have up to 3 curses. Some of them are pretty nasty. You will get them by failing feats of magic. Don’t worry there are a few ways you can dispel curses.
We wanted to lean heavily into customization of your Spellcaster. You will be able to pick and choose from a subset of open perks, or go deep down a certain style.
Spellcasters will be similar to Vampires. It will not be a Skill in the traditional Sims sense, but a full Lifestate with its own forms of progression.
It is supposed to be a hidden world only known by Spellcasters. There are 2 households living here. 1 is a couple of Spellcasters, and the other is a Family of Spellcasters with a strong magic linage. So in total 6 to start.
SimGuruRomeo confirmed on twitter that The Sims Team will be doing a deep dive livestream for The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack on September 6th, 2019! The livestream will take place on The Sims Team’s official Twitch channel. We can expect the gurus to cover different aspects of the pack such as Create A Sim, Build Mode and of course – gameplay!
We’ll keep you updated with another post regarding the stream before it goes live so you can watch it here. Those who miss out on the livestream will be able to catch a replay + important facts from the stream!
I am hopping off twitter for a bit I need to make sure we catch all the bugs in The Realm of Magic! I answered quite a few questions if there are anymore be sure to tune into our live stream on September 6th. I can’t wait for you all to play this pack!
The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack will bring some additional gameplay if you have The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs Expansion Pack installed!
In case you don’t know – Realm of Magic will be bringing “familiars” to the game – loyal companions that will accompany your Spellcaster Sims with special abilities and features.
SimGuruRomeo has revealed that Cats and Dogs will also be able to accompany spellcasters and that they’ll get some new abilities and even visuals.
If you own Cats and Dogs you will be able to designate your pet as a Familiar! You will be able to send them out to forage magical ingredients. They also will have cool sparkles around them. =D
The Sims just unveiled its reveal trailer for The Sims 4: Realm of Magic game pack, and there is a LOT packed into this trailer. Here are some of the most exciting highlights from the trailer that we noticed!
TWO New Worlds!
realm 1
realm 13
We can’t be the only ones who noticed not one, but TWO new worlds in the trailer! The first world shown looks like a normal, forested type of world, but the second world is something out of a fairytale! It’s floating! Whoah! Judging by the trailer, it seems likely that our Sims will be able to visit this magical second location via a portal located somewhere in the non-magical world.
Magical Vendors!
realm 16
realm 18
In the magical world, we can see some vendors located inside of some of the buildings, selling all kinds of magical items, like broomsticks. A few even have crystals on display, so perhaps our Sims will have a new use for some of the existing collections as well.
Magic Duels
realm 56
realm 66
realm 60
realm 61
Two witches are seen dueling each other with their magic in the trailer. Some of the coolest examples of magic we spotted in the trailer were levitation and disappearing into thin air. Perhaps a way for witches to teleport?
Stained Glass Windows & Doors
There appears to be new stained glass windows and doors which can be seen on the building the dark witch leads the blonde Sim to in the trailer. Previously, the Get Together expansion featured some windows with stained glass accents but we have not seen full stained glass windows and doors yet in The Sims 4.
Potion Brewing
realm 33
realm 40
In addition to spells, our Sims will be able to brew potions. An example of potion brewing can be seen in the trailer. One of the potions appears to turn this Sim into a witch and bestow them with special powers.
Familiars
At one point in the trailer, a witch is seen with a fiery little phoenix companion. We are so excited that our Sims can have their own familiars and are eager to learn more about what kinds of familiars our Sims can have and what they can do.
Magical Greenhouse?
A greenhouse that looks abandoned and in disrepair is shown in the background of the trailer both during one of the dueling scenes and while the blonde Sim is taking off on a broomstick at the end of the trailer. We’re looking forward to learning more about this location and what kind of things our Sims might find inside it. New magical harvestables, perhaps?
Broomsticks
What would a magic pack be without flying broomsticks! Broomsticks can be seen in the trailer both on display at a vendor location in the magical world and being used by the blonde Sim near the end of the trailer. It looks like there are different styles of broomsticks our Sims can own.
Wands
realm 47
realm 57
Just like broomsticks, a magic pack wouldn’t feel very magical without wands. Magic wands can be seen at different points in the trailer by several witches. We can’t wait to learn more about how these important magical tools will function in the game and how our Sims can get a hold of one.
What’s your favourite part of the trailer? Let us know in the comments or come chat with us on social media!
