Great news for console Simmers!

Finally, we get to answer the often asked question, When is mouse & keyboard support coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One? The answer… right now!

What’s New?

  • Mouse & Keyboard support is available to all console players of The Sims 4. Simply connect your mouse & keyboard of choice and away you go.
    • You may be wondering how to adjust the mouse sensitivity or switch to left handed play. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One handle these settings for you. Just head to the following locations on your console to make changes:
      • PlayStation 4 – Settings > Devices> Mouse
      • Xbox One – Settings > Kinect & devices > Mouse

General Issues

  • Sims will no longer be able to lie about employing each other in order to avoid marriage.
  • Fixed an issue where the Audio for the tutorial references skill levels for career progression.
  • Fixed an issue where terrain manipulation might crash the game when players were manipulating to close to the edge…
  • Fixed an issue where clicking various spots with terrain tools would cause an error.
  • The scroll bar in text messages will no longer reset the text field back to the top.
  • Fixed an error that would happen when adding an extended roof to the top of an object.
  • Corrected texture issues for the solid blue pants.
  • Corrected texture issues for rolled jean pants.
  • Corrected shadows that were being added to clothes from a few necklaces.
  • Fixed and error when players would switch between children that were created through genetics.
  • Fixed a few instances where terrain paint would not correct clear when using the bulldoze option in Build.
  • Fixed an error when trying to place a Nightclub on a lot that is smaller than the lot that is provided.
  • The Millie Bobby Brown Sim didn’t know what to wear to attend parties, so we helped her pick out a new outfit.
  • Fixed an error when trying to exit the pool in First Person Camera.
  • Thanks to all the feedback, we have added more ways to customize controls while in 1st Person Mode which you can find under Game Options > Game Camera.
  • 1st Person Mode should no longer terrify you with Sims that have missing heads.
  • Playing basketball on the Skye Fitness lot while in 1st Person Mode won’t require you to restart The Sims 4, so no more excuses for missing that 3 pointer.
  • Adjusting light intensity on items near the top of the lot will not cause the panel to display off screen.

Get Together

  • Listening to music on the Lin-Z Smart Speaker will now count towards the Listen to Music club rule.

Seasons

  • Leaf Piles should no longer become stuck in neighborhoods; they should automatically get cleaned up at the start of each winter season.
  • Fixed a clipping issue that occurred when wearing the toddler’s rain boots with certain pairs of pants.
  • Fixed two toddler hats which were causing unintended shadows to appear on the toddler’s eyes.

Get Famous

  • Fixed a text issue in the 24 hour live stream buff. Please excuse any technical difficulties the stream will be back up shortly.
  • Your Sims acting agent will no longer give you false pay information when completing a gig. Those agents are always trying to skim a little off the top.
  • Fixed a texture issue with the SciFi Helmet and Straight Skirt.
  • Corrected placeholder text on the Celebrity Home lot Moodlet.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Sims from staying longer on a gig to practice their acting skills.
  • Corrected text issue in the Charity Stream Moodlet.
  • Fixed floating Sims while wearing one of the high skirts.
  • Corrected Text issue in the Tiresome Energies buff from the Crystal Healing Helmet
  • Fixed an error when placing Luminary’s Exotic Water Garden on a bulldozed lot.

Outdoor Retreat

  • Your Sims can now pester… er… visit, any campers of their choosing in Granite Falls.
  • Fixed an error where Sims would get stuck in the Forest Hideaway lot in Granite Falls.

Vampires

  • Corrected texture issue on Buttoned Pants.

Of course, we have added a whole lot of community creations into My Library as well as brought over some familiar faces from past Sims titles like The Newbie Family and The Grunt Family.

The Sims 4 PC / Mac: New Update + Patch Notes! (April 16th, 2019)

The Sims Team has released a brand new Update for The Sims 4 on PC and Mac!

To download the latest version of The Sims 4, simply open your Origin program and if the game doesn’t update automatically, right click on The Sims 4 and select ”Update”.

In case you have Mods or Custom Content, the game will automatically disable them for you after first launching The Sims 4 after the update. To re-enable all your Mods and Custom Content, select the Settings option in the Menu and select Settings. Under the”Other” section you’ll find the ”Enable Custom Content and Mods” option. Check it and restart your game in order for it to take effect!

Patch Notes

UPDATE: 4/16/2019 – PC 1.51.75.1020 / Mac 1.51.75.1220

Happy April, Simmers. Nice to meet you! Maxis hired me as a freelance writer to work on these game update notes. (Side note — if you find a problem, blame SimGuruGraham — he’s my editor.) In all honesty, it’s a pretty sweet gig. I got to see the new Expansion Pack, Game Pack, and Stuff Pack that the team is working on, and did you know that they bring in bagels on Fridays? But hey, enough about me. Being a freelancer, I’ll be gone again before you know it.

Anyway, funny coincidence; there’s actually a brand-new Freelancer career arriving in this update that’s free for all players. I was playing around with it earlier, and go figure… my Sim self earns more money as a freelance writer than I do! Geez; guess I’ll have to live out my fantasies of getting rich through The Sims again. Looking beyond the new, free features though, I’ve got to say… those SimGurus really knocked it out of the park with this one. Just look at all those lovely fixes to many of the top discussed community issues!

Freelancer Career

Freelancer is a brand-new type of career. Sims can choose to be a Freelance Artist, Programmer, or Writer, and will work through an agency that will connect them with a variety of gigs. Unlike other careers, there’s no defined work schedule to worry yourself over. Need some extra Simoleons? Smash through a few gigs in a single day and get paid! Need some time off? No problem – plenty of gigs will be waiting for you when you’re ready to get back to work. Your office is wherever you want it to be. Immaculate White Shelf

I could have buried this down in the Fixes & Updates section, but… it’s kind of a big deal. There’s now a plain white version of “The Immaculate” shelf available in Buy Mode!

FIXES & UPDATES

The Sims 4

  • Sims will travel to the correct venue when invited out to an event by a NPC Sim.
  • Fixed an issue where the UI would occasionally indicate that a Sim was at work, when they were actually at home, which would block access to the Sim’s inventory.
    • Note: If a save file created prior to this update contains a Sim that’s already in this bad state, simply traveling to another lot with that Sim will permanently fix this issue.
  • Sims will no longer receive random phone calls from other Sims between the hours of 8pm and 10am, allowing them to enjoy a full – and speedy – night’s sleep.
  • Fixed an issue where multiple music tracks could end up looping and playing simultaneously.
  • Expecting parents will once again be able to “Take Family Leave” via their phone to take time off from work.
  • Fixed an issue where a Sim who had cheated with another Sim romantically, were then unable to successfully propose to that Sim and get married.
  • Fixed an issue where Sims in the eSport Gamer branch of the Tech Guru career were not earning money when programming video games.
  • The Pick Up Serving Together interaction will no longer cause one of the Sims involved to fail to route to the food.
  • Fixed an issue where interactions on the Digitalistic Sketchpad object would disappear if a Sim’s actions were canceled while they were picking up the Digitalistic Sketchpad.
  • Updated the Digitalistic Sketchpad object so that creating paintings on it will satisfy Aspiration goals and work tasks that involve painting.
  • Fixed an issue with the Lin-Z Smart Speaker, where the interaction to hire a Gardener would remain unselectable, even when the home had a garden that needed tending.
  • Sims will now look at the Lin-Z Smart Speaker when speaking to it.
  • The “Pre-Owned Painter’s Easel”, that’s unlocked via the Painter career, will now provide an Inspirational emotional aura, instead of a Focused emotional aura.
  • Fixed an issue where staircases were not rendering properly while held by a mouse cursor.
  • Updated positioning of overlapping Search & Reset buttons in a player’s catalog within the Gallery.
  • Adjusted icons of Lunar New Year recipes to better display what food you’re looking at within an inventory.
  • The children’s Yin & Yang Necklace will no longer clip into their neck when wearing a shirt that’s tucked in.
  • The “CleanRoom” wall pattern, which was previously missing a name for its 5th color variant, has now had that specific color variant named “Like Sand”.
    • As far as I’m aware, this is the only instance in the game where a color variant has been given a unique name. Huh… neat!
  • Added the ability to click through different pack art on the main menu for any of the packs you currently have installed.
  • A new content alert icon has been added to individual careers within the Select a Career panel, to help players find new careers that have been added to their game.

Mac

  • Fixed an issue for Mac users with Intel integrated graphics, where the mouse cursor would not move properly after adjusting the shape of a Sim’s body in Create a Sim.
  • Removed an outdated file that was causing a false error message to appear for 64-bit Mac users that said, “The Sims 4” is not optimized for your Mac and needs to be updated.”

Get To Work

  • Scientists will once again wear an appropriate outfit when going to work even if StrangerVille is not installed.
  • The “Chemical Analyzer” object can now be purchased from Build Mode without having to use a cheat.
  • Fixed an issue where selecting the Randomize from Gallery option until receiving an alien Sim, and then further randomizing that specific Sim, could result in a naked alien Sim.
  • Made updates to the list of valid objects that can be selected as the outcome of the SimRay’s “Transform Object” interaction.

City Living

  • Fixed an issue where objects from multiple festivals were appearing on top of each other in the neighborhood simultaneously.
  • Apartment landlords will now leave the apartment immediately after addressing a tenant’s complaint.
  • Added the ability for Sims with the Vegetarian trait to hire a Vegetarian Caterer by clicking on Stoves or Refrigerators.
  • Vegetarian Sims will no longer enjoy eating Mud Carp.

Cats & Dogs

  • After installing this update, Sims who adopt an animal after befriending them will be able to become companions with them and lecture them for misbehavior.
    • Note: Sims who have already adopted an animal after befriending them, in a save file created prior to this update, will continue to experience this issue. We’re investigating a separate fix for this issue in existing save files.
  • Fixed an issue where hungry pets would not eat from food bowls autonomously.
  • The pet toy box will no longer have its position rotated in a random direction when a Sim returns home from an active career.
    • We’ve placed the magic gnomes responsible for this in the naughty box alongside SimGuruNinja.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Litter-Matic Scoop-Free” litterbox wasn’t looking clean after cat poop had been removed.
  • Fixed an issue with the Pet Adoption Agency, where they would occasionally show up at a Sim’s home without any pets to adopt, and would simply stand at the home’s front door and not do anything.

Seasons

  • Updated the Gardening career so that Sims will earn more than 10 Simoleons per completed work shift.
  • Fixed an issue where on days where no holiday was set to occur, a Sim’s work schedule would update to falsely indicate that the day was a Holiday just prior to going to work, causing the Sim to stay home for the day.
  • Fixed an issue where NPC Sims were not autonomously using the skating rinks that appear in certain neighborhoods.
  • Toddlers will no longer attempt to queue up behavior to “Run Inside” during bad weather conditions if they’re already inside.
  • Fixed an issue where Sims voices could not be heard when Singing Together around a Holiday Tree if City Living was not installed.

Get Famous

  • The Acting career task to “Get Into Hair and Makeup” can be successfully completed once again.
  • Fixed an issue where celebrity Sims who had been set to use their normal walkstyle were switching back to using the celebrity walkstyle after traveling to certain types of venues.
  • Three star celebrity Sims will no longer use the celebrity walkstyle.

Dine Out

  • Players who have City Living installed can now add the Siopao and Ensaymada dishes to their restaurant’s menu. Yum!

Vampires

  • Vampire Sims created after installing this update will be able to continue to gain points after reaching the rank of Grand Master.
    • Note: Vampires that already exist will continue to experience a problem with gaining points after reaching Grand Master. We’re investigating a separate fix for Vampires in existing save files.
  • Fixed some circumstances where Vampire NPCs could appear at a venue and prevent the player from being able to save the game.
  • Fixed an issue where NPC Vampires would have their Vampire Energy drained after completing a load, which was causing them to idle in place instead of performing their expected autonomous behavior.

StrangerVille

  • Fixed an issue where Sims that had been shared to the Gallery after completing Act 1 of the StrangerVille Mystery would be blocked from progressing in the mystery when downloaded from the Gallery into a new game.
  • The following environment objects, which were created for StrangerVille, have been added to the Build Mode debug catalog to allow placement on lots. Players must enter the bb.showhiddenobjects cheat before they can be seen in the catalog.
    • 10 different cacti
    • 3 different Joshua trees
    • 3 different RVs
    • 2 clusters of rocks
    • 2 junked cars
    • A group of desert flowers
    • A military truck
    • A tire
    • A parking stop
  • Added proper images to the Officer and Covert Operator branches of the Military career.
  • Removed the “Question about Spores in Lab” interaction for Sims who have already acquired the Modified Hazmat Suit.
  • Removed the “Heart of the Pack” styled look from Create a Sim, as it was authored using clothing that’s only available to Sims that have joined the Military career.
  • Updated the pack information panel on the main menu to not display world objects under the Build Mode Items.

My First Pet Stuff

  • Fixed an issue where deleting/selling the rodent habitat could cause the game to become unresponsive.

Holiday Celebration Pack

  • The Crown Roast platter will now show a partially eaten state when half of its servings have been taken.

I’d like to adjust the wording here, as this issue was not specific to stray pets and there may be confusion. The bug was happening if you became Friends with the pet before using the Adopt interaction. You HAVE to become Friends for Adopt to become available on a stray, but some users were encountering this by petting their computer-adopted pet a bunch of times before hitting Adopt.

REMINDER: The Sims 4 Updates for PC / Mac and Consoles are coming tomorrow, April 16th

There are two big updates coming your way to The Sims 4 for both PC / Mac and Xbox One / PS4 TOMORROW, April 16th 2019. Before we dive deeper into some regular reminders about what to do to prepare for each update, here’s what you need to know that will be coming your way on both versions of the game!

The Sims 4 for PC / Mac

Desktop and laptop players have two things confirmed that they should be excited about:

Although these are the things that have been officially confirmed for the latest update, there *could* be a few more things added with the update too. We won’t know for certain until we get a closer look at the patch notes tomorrow so stay tuned!

The Sims 4 for Xbox One / PS4

We’ll be making sure to do a full overview for both updates as well – stick around!

PC / Mac Update Preparations

Patch day is tomorrow , and you know what that means! A whole lot of panicked Simmers going “My mods don’t work anymore, HELP!” and “What do I do with my mods and CC when I update?”

But don’t worry! As long as you know exactly what to do whenever a new patch drops, you won’t have any problems with your mods or your CC after a game update. Here’s what to do whenever The Sims 4 gets a new update:

Patch Day 101

    1. Before updating, remove your Mods folder from your game entirely. You do not have to delete it. Just move it to your Desktop for safekeeping.
    2. Update your game like normal through Origin.
    3. Do NOT put your Mods folder back in right away! It is likely that many of your mods will be broken now. They need to be updated.
    4. To update your mods, return to where you downloaded them and check to see if the creator has released an update. You will need to redownload the updated mod and replace the old version in your Mods folder. It can take creators a few days to get around to this, so please be patient. In the meantime, you will either have to avoid playing the game, or play without your mods.
    5. Only after you are 100% certain all your mods are compatible with the latest patch, put your Mods folder back in. Make sure you re-enable script mods in the game options next time you play.

Other Notes

  • CC will not usually need updates but if you are having issues with some CC after a game update, it’s best to remove it and see if the creator has updated it.
  • Yes, having to update your mods for every patch is annoying. We know, but that’s just the nature of using mods. If all of this sounds like too much hassle for you, then mods are probably not for you.

If you follow these step-by-step instructions as standard protocol for every update, you should never encounter any problems with outdated mods causing errors, freezing, or game crashes.

This casting agency that helped find great talents for multiple commercials including Amazon, Vogue and even helped find talents to be featured in Taylor Swift + Zayn’s “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” music video are now looking for people to be featured in The Sims’ upcoming video / commercial!

They have stated the following:

The Sims gives players a platform to explore how they express themselves in the real world. Through testimonial, we’ll capture these stories and celebrate self-expression, and the journey and joy of becoming closer to one’s authentic self.

Active players of the game, THE SIMS, and have an interesting story to tell about their life, self-expression, and their experiences with the game, and meaningful overlap.

These are the stories of players who use The Sims to navigate unique, sometimes challenging, at times fun family dynamics.  It’s the story of players whose families aren’t always represented in the world around them. It’s the story of players who may not fit into their own family, not have a family, need more from their family.

Active players of the game, THE SIMS, and have an interesting story to tell about their family, their experience with the game, and meaningful overlap.

This casting call has the following requirements and conditions:

  • We are looking for people who are active players of The Sims and have found it has helped them in some way
  • Aged 16-25, UK based
  • We are open to and encourage all ethnicities, genders, accents, shapes and sizes and everything else
  • Shoots on May 22nd and 23rd in London
  • Genuine gamers and real stories only!

The castings session will be held in London on 30th of April / 1st of May. Those who get accepted to be a part of this Sims video / commercial will be paid 1000 US Dollars!

It’s currently not known if this casting call / testimonial opportunity will be available in other countries around the world but we’ll definitely keep you posted!

The Sims 4 Pufferhead Fanmade Custom Stuff Pack Coming April 18th!

The fanmade Stuff Pack you didn’t know you needed (until now) is coming to your Mods folder in just a few days!

The Sims 4 Pufferhead is a Custom-Made Stuff Pack created by @MLys_jpg that features a dozen of new items and clothing for Sims of all ages!

The pack is inspired by Henry Puffer Poster from The Sims 4 Base Game. Much like Harry Potter, the pack comes with 4 different “houses” also known as item themes. Best of all there isn’t a single resemblance to Harry Potter – all of the items and themes have been adjusted to the world of The Sims 4!

You have Alpaggard, Leetlefloof, Ivybell and Owlenmood that each have their own characteristics. You can even do a quiz made by this talented creator HERE to find out to which house you (or your Sim) belong!

Look, it may not seem like a big deal to some of you that Jeremy Scott, creative director of Moschino, is making daily posts about his new The Sims X Moschino Capsule Collection but trust me when I say that this collaboration is already bringing so much attention to The Sims Franchise than any other previous collaborations in previous years.

The Sims X Moschino is the greatest Marketing Collaboration I’ve seen in years

This Wednesday EA has made a huge announcement that they’ll be doing a huge collaboration with a high-end fashion house Moschino where they’ll be bringing new apparel for fashion lovers as well as new stuff (some of them that yet need to be announced) for The Sims players.

This collaboration is focused on mending the virtual reality with real life. The apparel from The Sims X Moschino Pixel Capsule Collection features Sims-themed items and clothing as well as pixelated outfits and other apparel. Now, I do have to agree with some of the statements that have been made in the simming community and say that there could have been a lot more items that draw inspiration from The Sims. However, there’s still a small dozen of items that are definitely recognizable and anyone who has played (or even heard) of The Sims will immediately recognize some of these:

There’s another huge portion of the clothing items you’ll be able to purchase from Moschino that unfortunately do not resemble anything that The Sims is all about. At first I had no clue what 8-bit pixels have anything to do with The Sims and I was even a bit frustrated that all of these clothing items could’ve been something else from the world of The Sims. I mean, how cool would it be to have a pixelated T-Shirt or a Jacket that would resemble The Sims’ iconic nudity blur when your Sims go to take a shower or have to use a toilet?!

After my impressions settled down I started appreciating Jeremy Scott’s new lineup more and more. It’s all about the statements that these clothing items seem to be making and that’s the fact that we could all be video game characters living in a huge life simulation (woah that was deep). This mend between real-life and a video game that simulates real-life is probably the most ambitious crossover in both the fashion world and the video gaming world and it could just do the trick.

Now, let’s focus on the potentional pricing of these items. The Moschino brand is just not for everyone and its fashion direction is very eccentric and pop culture. Moschino is a HUGE name in the fashion world and it falls in line with other fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Gucci, Prada and so on. You can immediately tell that this apparel is going to be VERY expensive.

I went on Moschino.com and checked the prices and let me tell you – the clothing there is not cheap at all. You have jackets that go from $700 to $7,000, dresses that are priced up to $15,000 and even simple T-Shirts that have a price tag higher than $500. All in all, Moschino is not about finding something to wear to fill your closet – it’s a fashion name that servers a purpose of making a statement.

So, why is this collaboration so important for The Sims? There are several reasons why…

First of all, The Sims is already gaining huge attention from huge news sites and magazines all over the world. This collaboration was already cited and written about in ELLE Magazine, Vogue, Hypebeast, Harper’s Bazaar and others. Other gaming websites such as IGN, Kotaku and others have also written about this. There are hundreds of outlets out there that are spreading the word about this collaboration. It was even featured as a Twitter Moment!

The Sims X Moschino is the greatest Marketing Collaboration I’ve seen in years

Jeremy Scott also made sure the news about this collaboration were out by sharing a dozen of images on his social networks. It feels surreal to have a designer who worked for Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna and more promote his collection and The Sims Franchise so shamelessly.

The promotional shots that are being used to highlight the new collection are weird…to say the least. However, that all comes from me who already knows all about The Sims, its universe and how weird it is to have a real life person featured in a Sims environment. Someone who never played The Sims before will find these images much more interesting and aesthetically correct since they never had seen a Sim in The Sims 4 environment before.

These shots are all so very important for The Sims 4 and The Sims Franchise in general as they’re giving the game and its Expansion Packs, Game Packs and Stuff Packs so much value and will definitely spark an interest to people out there who never got a chance to play The Sims 4 before.

This collaboration is also opening the eyes to all those fashion connoisseurs out there who never knew how much fun it is to dress up a virtual character using the clothing items that The Sims 4 provides, as well as how entertaining it is to look up for new, custom apparel from the talented Custom Content creators.

Last year when The Sims Team announced The Sims X Baby Ariel collaboration I’ve lost all hope in EA’s marketing department. The collaboration didn’t make any news at all, Baby Ariel only made one or two posts about the collaboration online (from what I’ve seen) and it just felt like The Sims tried to give Baby Ariel a big push instead of it being a mutual promotional opportunity.

On the other hand The Sims X Moschino collaboration is already giving so much importance to both parties with the potential of making it the best (or the worst) collaboration done in The Sims Franchise. Either way, you can’t say that The Sims and Moschino are not giving their best to make this work.

The Sims Russia VK Page has shared some new screenshots from the upcoming Content Update for The Sims 4! Although most of the screenshots are localized and translated into Russian, they still manage to show off some of the new content we’re getting.

The first screenshot shows off the Career Menu and the Freelancer Category. The screenshot below suggests that, as you choose the Freelancer Career from the Menu you’ll immediately be able to pick one out of 3 branches: Writer, Artist or Programmer.

It’s no longer a secret that The Sims Team is cooking things up, especially with their latest announcement that they’ll be pushing out a new Expansion Pack, a new Game Pack and a Stuff Pack for The Sims 4 in the next six months.

However, The Sims Blog that they’ve released didn’t tell anything else regarding the release dates nor the pack themes that we should be expecting. Sure, it would be fun to know exactly what we should be expecting but any transparency about the game and its production is valuable.

The Sims Team’s latest collaboration announcement with Moschino left many wondering if it could be a sign of even more things to come in the future. Other than the fact that there’s going to be a new Freezer Bunny Hoodie in The Sims Games added very soon and that Sims-inspired apparel will be sold all over Moschino retail stores, the latest press release also included an interesting statement saying that this is not everything they’re revealing:

One item from the capsule collection, a Freezer Bunny hoodie, will also be released after the event within all of The Sims current titles including The Sims 4, The Sims Mobileand The Sims FreePlay with more game-related announcements to come later this year.

 

All signs are leading up to a Moschino-inspired Stuff Pack. This wouldn’t be the first Sims X Fashion house collaboration that happened in the game. Previously we’ve had The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff Pack and The Sims 3 Diesel Stuff Pack. With this information, Sims 4 Moschino Stuff Pack could be very close to becoming a real thing…

The Sims and Moschino have just announced their collaboration which is going to bring something new to both The Sims universe and real life!

Starting April 13th, Moschino will start selling real life apparel including T-Shirts, Dresses, Skirts, Accessories and plenty of more inspired by The Sims. The collection is called Moschino X The Sims Pixel Capsule and will be available in Moschino stores worldwide and Moschino’s online store.

Inspired by the popular life simulation video game franchise, a whole collection of ready-to-wear items and accessories including Moschino items with pixelated designs and a limited run of eight Moschino x The Sims items will be available at Moschino boutiques worldwide as well as Moschino.com on April 13th.
