Everything we know about The Sims 4’s Upcoming Freelancer Career

If you haven’t heard, The Sims Team announced a brand new career coming to The Sims 4 in a free content update and it looks like it’s going to be one of the most exciting careers we’ve seen yet! The announcement came during the latest Maxis Monthly livestream, hosted this month by SimGuruGraham and SimGuruChowder.

As well as a range of new clothes and goodies that SimGuruChowder described as “home office chic,” the next free content update for The Sims 4 will include the new Freelancer career. The Freelancer career is a brand new type of career all together. This means that it is not a rabbithole career, a work from home career, or a fully active career. SimGuruGraham described the Freelancer career as a mashup of all the different types of careers we’ve seen previously. Like the work from home careers, the Freelancer career will have flexible working hours and will not require your Sim to go off the lot to a rabbithole destination. Your Sim will be able to work on their own schedule. The Freelancer career will also incorporate elements of the Acting career from the Get Famous expansion pack. Your Sim will join an agency and pick and choose the gigs they’d like to work on.

Everything we know about The Sims 4’s Upcoming Freelancer Career

Sims in the Freelancer career will have three branches to choose from instead of the standard two from past careers. Your Sims can be a freelance programmer, a freelance artist, or a freelance writer. Freelance programmers and freelance writers do their work on the computer. Freelance artists use the computer as well, but they also make use of the digital sketch pad that came with the Style Influencer career in a past update. SimGuruGraham mentioned in the stream that the Freelancer career was designed to allow for more trades to be added in the future, but stressed that this does not mean more trades are definitely coming to the game. It’s just a possibility.

When your Sim joins a freelance agency and starts looking for gigs, the available gigs will be tailored towards your Sim’s skill level. Freelance programmers will need to build the Programming skill. Freelance artists will need to build the Painting skill. Freelance writers will need to build the Writing skill. Increase your Sim’s skill level in order to see more gigs and better paying gigs. The gigs change every day, so your Sim will not be stuck doing the same gigs over and over again all the time.

When your freelancer Sim completes a gig, they will be able to send it to the client for review. Each gig has multiple outcomes with a small story aspect depending on the quality of the work your Sim did. The project might be accepted by the client, providing your Sim with boosted job performance and simoleons. The client may also reject a submitted project if it doesn’t meet their quality standards. When this happens, your Sim will need to edit the project and resubmit it for review.

Instead of promotions, freelancer Sims can be “overmaxed” in their career. This means that every time they fill up their job performance bar, they will earn more money for all future jobs done with their current agency. Overmaxing the Freelancer career can unlock some brand new career reward objects that will also be included in this update. Players who were disappointed that laptops were exclusive to the StrangerVille game pack will be delighted to know that a new chroma key laptop will be included in this free update as a career reward object!

The Sims 4 Main Menu is getting a Splash Screen Slider

22

About a few months ago The Sims 4 for Consoles got a minor upgrade in the Main Menu which gives players the ability to switch between different renders of the packs they own. Now, it seems that you’ll be able to do the same thing in The Sims 4 for PC and Mac!

During the last few moments of the latest Maxis Monthly Livestream, one of the developers has teased a new feature in the Main Menu which lets you go between different splash screens using the left and right arrows. The renders that appear in the Main Menu will only be of the packs and games you currently have installed / purchased.

This feature is expected to arrive with The Sims 4 Update for PC and Mac on April 16th.

The Sims Blog: What The Sims Team is Planning This Year

12

Lyndsay Pearson, General Manager for The Sims has written up an insightful blog post on TheSims.com talking about what are some of the things we should expect for The Sims 4 this year. In the blog post she revealed that we’ll be getting a new Expansion Pack, Game Pack and a Stuff Pack in the next six months for The Sims 4 as well as regular free updates for the game.

See what she has to say:

Hello, Simmers!

As you may have noticed, we like to try new things around here once in a while. It’s important to us to continue to surprise and delight you with updates we know you’ll love, themes you maybe haven’t seen yet, or ideas you never even expected. We also always strive to be as open with you as possible, sharing what we can, when we can.

There’s a lot happening over the next year in The Sims, including our 5th Anniversary for The Sims 4 and our 20th Anniversary for The Sims! So, in celebration of this milestone year, we want to try something new and let you know, far ahead, what types of experiences you can expect to see from The Sims 4.

I know you want to know, but I cannot share details about themes, features, content, or specific dates. I also don’t want to spoil everything, because it’s fun to be a little surprised. With that in mind, here’s the plan for new paid packs we are working on for The Sims 4 PC. Over the next six months, we’ll be bringing you a new expansion packgame pack, and stuff pack! We will also continue to release updates to the base game.

This list, as with anything in game development, is subject to change. We’ll continue to do our best to share changes as we make them. As we move forward, you’ll begin to see these new paid packs release on console closer to the dates they release for PC/Mac, though not at the same time.

Thank you for continuing to play The Sims and sharing your passion with us. We can’t overstate how much we appreciate each and every one of you.

Lyndsay Pearson

Everything you need to know about The Sims 4’s latest Dollhouse Community Trend

You’ve probably seen all over social media that simmers have been hard at work with creating some fun builds and images made in The Sims 4. This latest trend includes showcasing a room, multiple rooms or even an entire lot from one angle from which you can see all the important items and details inside – just like with a real life dollhouse. This amazing community trend all started with smart–milk‘s captivating way of capturing (and editing) everyday rooms and situations in The Sims 4, as seen in some of her screenshots down below:

You can check out one of many examples by @lostinsophie which beautifully showcases a simple, two-story loft…

Another one is the beautiful, vibrant room created by @springsims…

And another vibrant room created by @simsontherope!

So, what do you need to do in order to create a Dollhouse Build?

Build A Room

When building a room (or multiple rooms) it’s important to know one thing and that’s the fact that your main focus is showcasing objects and details on only two sides of the wall.

For this article I won’t be building a specific room (because I suck at it) but rather use a Styled Room example. More specifically – the Delighting Den Room from The Sims 4 Bowling Night Stuff Pack!

As you can see in the screenshots below I have cut down the two walls that usually get minimized in the Wall Cutaway View and have also changed the scenery to night-time to better showcase the lighting that’s been placed down in the room.

You can also liven up your dollhouse build screenshot by sending in your Sims into your build and keep them busy with various activities!

Everything you need to know about The Sims 4’s latest Dollhouse Community Trend

Presentation

The next step is all about presentation. Most Dollhouse Builders like to kick things up a notch by editing their build screenshot in Photoshop or other image editing tools.

Here are some steps I took to spruce up my Dollhouse Build Screenshot:

  • Used the Quick Selection Tool to cut out the Room from my screenshot
  • Added more vibrance by turning up Brightness and Contrast

Everything you need to know about The Sims 4’s latest Dollhouse Community Trend

You can always go that extra mile and make your Dollhouse Screenshot even more presentable by adding a background that will bring even more attention to the colors of your Dollhouse as well as add a color palette on the side that will point out some of the primary colors you’ve used for your build.

What I’ve done for the screenshot below:

  • Added two layered backgrounds below the dollhouse build
  • Added a drop shadow for the build
  • Pointed out 4 primary colors used for the build

Everything you need to know about The Sims 4’s latest Dollhouse Community Trend

Of course, this is just a small example of what you can do with your Dollhouse Build. What’s important to know is that you can go beyond boundaries and templates of what I’ve shown here and create something entirely else as long as you have in mind the dollhouse aesthetic.

The Gallery

There are PLENTY of dollhouse builds and rooms already that you can find on The Gallery. Simply search for #Dollhouse, #TS4Dollhouse hashtags and you can even put together a dollhouse of your own using multiple rooms found in The Gallery.

This Month’s Maxis Monthly Livestream has been slightly delayed

7

The Maxis Monthly Livestreams are an opportunity for The Sims Team to talk about their current releases, showcase some of the community creations and often reveal upcoming projects and content coming to The Sims Franchise. The pattern of these livestreams has become very obvious with the stream taking place on the first Tuesday of every month. However, things are a little bit different this month…

SimGuruLyndsay has announced via Twitter that the Maxis Monthly Livestream for the month of April 2019 is slightly delayed. She stated the following:

Hey Simmers! I know you’ve been waiting to hear about our Maxis Monthly stream. I’ve asked the team to delay this month’s stream for a little bit. I have a few updates I want to sneak in that aren’t quite ready to talk about and I’m taking a vacation with my family next week. So, our stream will be a little bit later this month but stay tuned, follow and we’ll let you know when to tune in!

Right now we don’t know the exact date of April’s Maxis Monthly Livestream other than the fact that it’s been delayed just “for a little bit”.

We’ll make sure to keep you posted as soon as we know more about the next Maxis Monthly!

The Sims 4: Voice Actors Tease Simlish From Upcoming Pack

7

Voice actors Krizia Bajos and Scott Whyte are just starting to share some new teasers for the upcoming pack for The Sims 4!

@kritzer has posted some interesting video clips on her Instagram Story of her and Scott recording new Simlish audio for the upcoming pack. Currently we only have a few clips that you can check out down below that don’t really tell a lot what the pack could be about.

In case you don’t know, we’re already growing suspicion that the upcoming pack for The Sims 4 could be the 7th Expansion Pack. For more on that CLICK HERE!

You can check out all the clips these voice actors have shared down below:

The Sims 4 Spa Day is coming to Xbox One and PS4!

Amazon has just revealed an interesting listing of a Game Pack that’s been missing in The Sims 4’s collection on Xbox One and PS4!

The Sims 4 Spa Day Game Pack is expected to come out on April 16th, 2019 to consoles according to Amazon’s listing.

The Sims 4 Spa Day is coming to Xbox One and PS4!

There are only a few packs left to make their way onto The Sims 4 for Consoles. We should expect The Sims 4 My First Pet Stuff Pack and The Sims 4 StrangerVille to make their way to consoles soon as well.

We’ll make sure to let you know as soon as new listings for The Sims 4 Console surface!

The Sims 4: The Official Smiths Household Now Available On The Gallery

SPECULATION: New Clues for The Sims 4 Expansion Pack 7 releasing in June 2019

Voice actors are once again teasing the production of the next big pack for The Sims 4!

Back in December 2018 we’ve managed to predict the release of The Sims 4 StrangerVille Game Pack all thanks to the voice actors who have been posting various teasers on their social media platforms. With various Simlish snippets shared by Krizia Bajos, one of many voice actors working on The Sims 4, we can now know exactly that they’ve been working on The Sims 4 StrangerVille just 2 months before the pack came out. You can read more about that HERE!

However, it seems that the talented bunch are back again in The Sims Studio working on the next big thing. Krizia Bajos, Scott Whyte and Cia Court, one of many voice actors have shared that they’re currently in San Francisco, California working on the next Sims 4 project.

This time around they haven’t shared any specific snippets (just yet) of their Simlish voiceover sessions but they did indeed confirm with multiple posts on Instagram that they’ve gathered for another Sims 4 voiceover session.

Krizia Bajos has also shared a few interesting stories on her Instagram of her walking to the EA offices and interacting with Robi Kauker, one of the sound designers and masterminds of the Simlish language for The Sims 4.

IMG 4674 e1553356494872IMG 4672 e1553356606915IMG 4671 e1553356723772

Right now there are no official simlish snippets shared by the voice actors but we’ll make sure to update you if they surface in the meantime!

Currently we know two things. One of them is the fact that the voice actors are working on a new Sims 4 Pack that, according to previous patterns, will release in the next 2-3 months. Let’s take a quick look at previous scenarios where voice actors have teased working on a Sims 4 project before its official announce / release:

  • The Sims 4 Vampires Game Pack – teased by composer Illan Eshkeri in late September 2016 (the pack came out in January 2017)
  • The Sims 4 Seasons Expansion Pack – teased by voice actors between March and April 2018 (the pack came out in June 2018)
  • The Sims 4 Get Famous Expansion Pack – teased by voice actors between August and March 2018 (the pack came out in November 2018)
  • The Sims 4 StrangerVille Game Pack – teased by voice actors in late December 2018 (the pack came out in February 2019)

Considering that they’ve just started teasing their next Sims 4 project, we should expect a new Sims 4 Pack to come out in June 2019. However, this isn’t the only clue we’ve got about a big release happening in June…

Just a few days ago The Sims Team has announced the termination of 32-bit (Windows) and Non-Metal (Mac) OS support for The Sims 4 that’s all about to go down in June 2019. Considering that this is a huge switch for The Sims 4 could it be that it’s all leading up to a big pre-patch for The Sims 4’s next Expansion Pack?

Also, EA Play is being held once again in Hollywood in June. Although we don’t have any information which EA titles will be present at this event just yet, we do know that The Sims 4 Seasons was present last year which had the exact same time of teasers being posted by the voice actors. Could the same scenario happen for The Sims 4’s 7th Expansion Pack? Time will tell…
