Make a Splash
Your Sims can whisper sweet nothings next to the Fountain of Gluteus Maximus, leaving no emotions behind. They can even roll up their sleeves (and pants!) to have a friendly splash fight. If your Sim is feeling particularly bubbly, she or he can add soap to the fountain and see what mischief ensues!

Well, Well, Well
Sounds like the stuff dreams are made of, right? Be careful what you wish for! This Stuff Pack also includes the Whispering Wishing Well, which wields more power than there are W’s in this sentence. A single Simoleon is all it takes to cast a wish, be it for happiness, wealth, a child, youth, love, and more. But beware, the Wishing Well is known to be quite temperamental, and one should carefully consider not only what one wishes for, but when they wish for it. Different outcomes will keep your Sims on their toes – their lives could be altered forever!

EA had its Earnings Call for the third fiscal quarter of 2018 today and Andrew Wilson, EA’s CEO, had some prepared remarks about The Sims 4’s growth with the release of The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs Expansion Pack and The Sims 4 for Xbox One and PS4.

The Sims 4 had another extraordinary quarter as we launched our highest-performing expansion pack to date, and brought the game to consoles for the first time. Both of those contributed to player base growth in our Sims 4 community of more than 35% year-over-year in Q3.

SimGuruGraham is teasing Pests as potential content for The Sims 4 (SPECULATION)

6

UPDATE: SimGuruGraham confirms this all was a prank!

A few days ago we reported about SimGuruGraham teasing that a new Stuff Pack for The Sims 4 is already in development. However, with a few more teasers that he shared on his Twitter Avatar where he changed icons on a daily basis, we believe that there could be something more to it other than a vague teaser about the next Stuff Pack.

So far there have been 3 icons changed, including a roach, a bug and a spider.

Considering the fact that these are all taken from the AxisPestServices.com website, it could very likely mean that Pests will be added to The Sims 4 in the near future.

SimGuruGraham is teasing Pests as potential content for The Sims 4 (SPECULATION)

Also, we’re only a few days away until The Sims Franchise’s 18th anniversary (February 4th) so it could also mean that the “Pests” content might be added to The Sims 4 as an anniversary gift.

Take in consideration that SimGurus are not prone to giving false hope or material to speculate, at least not on their Twitter accounts, unless it’s actual content coming soon to The Sims 4. So far SimGuruGraham hasn’t tried to debunk any speculations or tweets regarding his teasers.

What do you think these icons mean? Let us know in the comments!

UPDATE: SimGuruGraham has updated his profile picture yet again, showing an icon of a…roach. Thanks Robson for the tip!

14th Stuff Pack for The Sims 4 is already in development!

The Sims Team is already in full force when it comes to developing the next, 14th Stuff Pack for The Sims 4!

SimGuruGraham, a producer on Stuff Packs has updated his Twitter Avatar with a question mark and a green background, hinting that a new Stuff Pack is already in development.

In case you don’t know SimGuruGraham has a history of updating his avatar whenever there’s a new Stuff Pack announced.

14th Stuff Pack for The Sims 4 is already in development!

Unlike with The Sims 4 Laundry Day Stuff Pack where the community had an opportunity to pick a theme of their own and vote on various gameplay ideas, items and clothing, it’s safe to assume that the 14th Stuff Pack won’t be another community project but a Stuff Pack made entirely by The Sims Team’s decisions and choices.

What do you think is the theme of The Sims 4’s next Stuff Pack?

The Sims 4 Pack Price Changes are affecting all Platforms and Retail Sites (Select Countries)

5

We are now 100% certain that EA’s recent decision to update their prices in select countries will affect not only Origin but other retail websites as well!

Retail website GAME UK has just listed The Sims 4 Romantic Garden Stuff Pack for Xbox One for a price of £9.99 – which is 2 pounds more than the price which was used for Stuff Packs before the recent price changes.

These price changes have already been applied on Origin in countries mentioned in this list. However, it seems that EA is slowly but surely updating pack prices for other retail websites and retail stores as well.

If you live in one of the 12 countries affected by these price changes we suggest that you get a pack that you’ve been longing for in your nearby retail store / website located in your area before they update prices as well.

Please note that if your country hasn’t been mentioned in this list you have nothing to worry about – at least not for this year. EA is doing these changes to reflect accurate exchange rates and currency values between other countries.

The Sims 4 Romantic Garden Stuff Pack coming February 6th on Consoles

GAME UK has just listed The Sims 4 Romantic Garden Stuff Pack for both Xbox One and PS4 which, according to their listing, is releasing on February 6th. This is the 5th Stuff Pack joining The Sims 4 Console’s SP family, along with Luxury Party, Perfect Patio, Cool Kitchen and Vintage Glamour.

The listing also matches with Wog’s listing which featured upcoming console releases for this year!

Comparing The Sims 4 Stuff Packs to The Sims 3 Stuff Packs

The Sims 4 has just recently received it’s 13th Stuff Pack – Laundry Day Stuff with new clothing, objects and gameplay. EA’s decision to alter the prices of The Sims 4 Packs (including Stuff Packs) and the fact that The Sims 4 now has thirteen Stuff Packs may not be the best news to some Simmers who are struggling to complete their collection with each release, but things have definitely improved since The Sims 3 days, and here’s how!

By now you probably know The Sims Team’s formula which has been used since the introduction of Stuff Packs in The Sims 2 – 60 new items including clothing and objects. That’s it. And oh yeah – they are $20. Considering the fact that there weren’t too many Stuff Packs for both series it was still somehow affordable, knowing that you only have 9 Stuff Packs to add to your collection (this was the case for both Sims Series) were somewhat good news to simmers.

These Stuff Packs offered the following:

  • New Clothing
  • New Objects

Yup – that’s where the line ends. For a price of $20 you were offered nothing but objects and clothing.

Let’s take The Sims 3 Outdoor Living Stuff Pack and compare it to The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff as the same formula has been used beside the fact that the focus point and the theme of these two packs are not entirely matching, there are some differences and similarities.

Here are some things you’ll notice at first. Things that are bolded below are what makes them extremely different, considering that the items count, well, doesn’t really count:

The Sims 3 Outdoor Living Stuff

  • 18 Create A Sim Items
  • 46 Buy / Build Items
  • No unique gameplay
  • Costs $20

The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff

  • 36 CAS Items
  • 43 Buy / Build Objects
  • Includes unique gameplay
  • Costs $10

Without focusing too much on CAS as Stuff Packs are given somewhat a same treatment in all 3 Sims games – there are some things that I’ve noticed after scratching the surface of these two packs. Even though The Sims 4 Stuff Packs may offer more clothing, objects and unique gameplay, The Sims 3 Stuff Packs were focused more on trying to cover every section in Buy / Build Mode. This means that Outdoor Living has new furniture, beds, chairs, tables, electronics, fireplaces, hot tubs, counters, refridgerator and more with a minimum focus on decor. However, Backyard Stuff only has new chairs, tables, random decor and gameplay objects. This is a thing that occurs in almost every Stuff Pack for The Sims 4: only certain parts of “useful” objects in the catalogue being developed while trying to add some fresh new gameplay as well.

If you look back you’ll notice that the recipe for The Sims 3 Stuff Pack formula was pretty much the same: adding new objects and trying to cover as much catalogue as possible. Take High-End Loft as an example – that Stuff Pack is full of refurbished new objects such as new workout equipment, beds, sofas, bathroom objects and living room objects.

Comparing The Sims 4 Stuff Packs to The Sims 3 Stuff Packs

Trying to make a wide arrange of various objects isn’t a strong side for The Sims 4 Stuff Packs. Still, considering that there’s still a fair amount of objects, CAS items, unique gameplay and on top of all that a price that’s two times smaller – The Sims 4 Stuff Packs take the crown. However, it would still be amazing if there was a Stuff Pack or two for The Sims 4 which would solely focus on adding different objects for different rooms and purposes.

There’s still more to talk about when it comes to comparing prices and value between The Sims 4 Stuff Packs and The Sims 3 Store as TS4 SP’s are basically a replacement for the Store, but I’ll talk about that in another article.

Do you agree with this article? What are your thoughts on The Sims 4 Stuff Packs as they are now? Let us know in the comments!

The Sims 4 Machinima: Bella Goth – The Lovers (Alternate Ending)

0

Rémi Marocelli is back with another fascinating machinima created with The Sims 2 and The Sims 4.

Due to the fact that his The Last Hope Machinima video had plenty of deleted scenes he decided to put up another machinima with an alternate ending. Check it out!

Speculation: Could Something Magical Be Coming To The Sims 4?

13

Please note: This article is purely speculation and does not confirm any upcoming content for The Sims 4

With every new pack that The Sims team release many of us find ourselves looking for hints on what we could be seeing in the future and The Sims 4 Laundry Day Stuff Pack is no different.

Now either the team who created the object descriptions are big Harry Potter fans or are big fans of magic! Also take note of the date mentioned on the Simolonean Mat, could that be hinting at a release date for a possible new expansion pack?

Take a look at the descriptions for some of the new objects below and let us know what you think in the comments!

The Sims 4 Console: List of ALL Packs coming out in 2018 (Not Confirmed)

6

UPDATE: Wog has removed the listing that featured upcoming releases for this year!

A trustworthy german retail website Wog has published a list of all The Sims 4 Packs for Console that should be coming out this year. However, please note that nothing off this list has been officially confirmed by The Sims Team yet. The Sims Team usually releases announcements of console pack release dates a week or two before the actual release so this retail listing is quite the surprise.

Packs mentioned after Romantic Garden and Cats & Dogs are all listed to be released on 15th of each month, which could mean that it’s only a placeholder date. There’s even a mention of Bowling Night Stuff being released in 2019.

Here are all the packs mentioned in the list. Although they only listed Xbox One on these listings we’re pretty sure they’ll be releasing alongside with the PS4 version:

  • The Sims 4 Romantic Garden Stuff: February 6th, 2018
  • The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs: March 20th, 2018
  • The Sims 4 Parenthood: April 15th, 2018
  • The Sims 4 Toddler Stuff: May 15th, 2018
  • The Sims 4 Get To Work: June 15th, 2018
  • The Sims 4 Outdoor Retreat: July 15th, 2018
  • The Sims 4 Movie Hangout Stuff: August 15th, 2018
  • The Sims 4 Backyard Stuff: August 15th, 2018
  • The Sims 4 Spooky Stuff: November 15th, 2018
  • The Sims 4 Fitness Stuff: November 15th, 2018
  • The Sims 4 Bowling Night Stuff: February 15th, 2019

Being the “Landscape Laundromat” Architect in The Sims 4: Frederick Law Olmsted

0

Hi, I’m Jason Sterling. Everyone who designs a structure within the Sims game is an architect. Whether you consider your work good or bad, simple or elegant, experienced or novice you are still an architect. This series of articles will highlight individual architects from the past. Landscape architecture has long been recognized as ranking in importance with brick and mortar buildings. Frederick Law Olmsted is widely regarded as the American father of park design and architecture. You can read about him in this article.  You can also learn to create a laundromat using his principles and the new Laundry Day Stuff pack.

The brief tutorial during this article uses cheats from the following list:

Press CTRL/SHIFT/C while in build mode. Then enter the cheat in the command box that appears in the upper left corner. Press CTRL/SHIFT/C to close the command box.

  • bb.IgnoreGamePlayUnlocksEntitlement (IGUE) Unlocks all items tied to in game advancement from the start
  • bb.ShowHiddenObjects (SHO) Displays all hidden objects for use in building such as ponds, dishes, bottles ect.
  • bb.MoveObjects (MOO) Allows the free movement of all build/buy items within the build and activates the height slider that raises objects up and down. Press the “ALT” key with the number “9” for up and “ALT” with the number “0” for going back down.
  • I will also be shrinking and enlarging objects using the “[” key to shrink objects and the “]” key for enlarging them.

Frederick Law Olmsted (April 26, 1822 – August 28, 1903) was an American landscape architect, journalist, social critic, and public administrator. He is popularly considered to be the father of American landscape architecture. Olmsted was famous for co-designing many well-known urban parks with his senior partner Calvert Vaux, including Central Park in New York City, Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and Elm Park in Worchester, Massachusetts considered by many to be the first municipal park in America…

…His work, especially in Central Park in New York City, set a standard of excellence that continues to influence landscape architecture in the United States. He was an early and important activist in the conservation movement, including work at Niagara Falls; the Adirondack region of upstate New York; and the National Park system; and though little known, played a major role in organizing and providing medical services to the Union Army in the Civil War.  (Information Quoted From the Entry on Olmsted at Wikipedia: Olmsted)

Someone once told me that every town in America, no matter how small, has a public park and I believe they are very nearly correct. I believe that much of America’s park heritage can be traced back to the efforts of Olmsted. Olmsted believed firmly in the pastoral and picturesque style of park design with a focus on nature and the natural elements of the space. Large lawns and indistinct boundaries created via natural elements are hallmarks of his designs. Everything was designed so as to blend rather than stick out with an ultimate eye to relaxation.

The pictures below show four examples of his work: #1 Central Park, New York City / #2 Elm Park, Worchester / #3 Forest Park, Springfield, Massachusettes / #4 Golden Gate Park, San Francisco  The first two examples look very true to the Olmsted idea while the third picture and fourth picture feel updated. While both the concrete walkway and and Pagoda feels somewhat different than what one first envisions with Olmsted the structures do blend well with the space and do not feel out of place. All the pictures will speak to the tutorial example below.

Being the “Landscape Laundromat” Architect in The Sims 4: Frederick Law OlmstedBeing the Landscape Architect- Olmsted:

Building a strictly Olmstedian park of trails, ponds, lawns and trees would be unusual today in the real world where we tend to cluster the objects necessary for public recreation in community parks. As such it’s a rarity in the Sims as well. Not to mention we don’t have true bridges in the game- lol. However, you can use his principles of natural landscape, blending utilities and avoiding objects calling direct attention to themselves effectively in game. There’s not much to writing a tutorial for building a natural park, despite the importance of Olmstead to the discipline as a whole. None the less, I’ve included a brief outline below with some hints and tips.

Park Tutorial:

When creating an Olmstead park I start with a central, natural water feature. Then, I build a bridge spanning it.  I try to keep the bridge natural and somewhat simple so that it does not compete with the elements of nature. To the right side you can just see a bit of the lawn. A broad expense of lawn is also typical of the Olmsted Style. Most parks have natural rises and falls. I’ve created this effect of the left side of the river.

  1. I started by drawing a platform on a foundation. I covered the sides in the “Packed Stone Foundation” from Outdoor Retreat. You can use this foundation to act as a disguise should any of it show through the surrounding plants and rocks.
  2. I use the ability to shrink, enlarge and raise objects in the air to surround the foundation with the natural objects shown. You can use what you like. I just recommend sticking to natural elements, avoiding formality and layering both the rock and plants to create a lush look.
  3. Next I cover the top of the platform with plants of varying size. I try for an undulating look that goes up and down. It helps to enlarge and shrink several of the same plant. This give the impression of various stages of growth from one to the next creating a sense of time passing.
  4. Lastly, I placed a couple of trees on the platform. This will help reinforce the idea of a rise in the land. I typically double or even triple layer trees to give them a denser look. You do this by turning them so that they don’t all face the same direction.

Being the Laundromat Architect- Olmsted:

You may say to yourself but Jason I don’t want a place to just walk around aimlessly enjoying nature. I want something to do! Well, thanks to the new Laundry Day Stuff pack we can create the perfect away from home experience while holding true to the period of the architect. Olmsted also held the lesser known position of Executive Secretary of the U.S. Sanitary Commission in addition to designing parks. As such it’s not hard to imagine a frustrated Olmsted bent over his desk hard at work designing a Laundromat for the 19th century woman to help her with sanitation. When it comes to creating a 19th century laundromat it’s important to carefully attend to the details of the period. You can see mapped out below some of the differences but more important the similarities with today.
