The Wedding Venue in The Sims 4 doesn’t let you have Weddings

The only place where your Wedding Stories are now banned is at the Wedding Venue

Yesterday’s update for The Sims 4 has brought a new Venue Type to the Base Game – Wedding Venues!

The addition of this Venue has been made in anticipation of the upcoming My Wedding Stories Game Pack. Unfortunately, you’re able to do everything at this venue except throw an actual wedding.

I followed the instructions of the Wedding Venue, which only had one optional object requirements. It was odd from the beginning that the Venue would require zero out of zero Wedding Arches on lot, but I threw it in anyways.

When you have two Proposed Sims you have two options: to have a Elope Immediately, also known as throwing a private wedding, as well as have a Wedding Event. These can also be seen through the Social Interactions between two proposed Sims like this:

Instead of the interaction that lets you Plan a Wedding, there’s now a “Plan Wedding Event” both between two Sims and on the Phone. This takes you to a seperate “Start an Event” section where, if you have My Wedding Stories installed, would also have additional Wedding Events.

I picked my Guests for the wedding and tried to find the new Wedding Venue for throwing my Wedding Event. Unfortunately, there was no Wedding Venue listed. It just wasn’t there.

I tried it on multiple occassions in multiple saves. I’ve even tried starting a whole new save game and starting a romantic relationship from scratch to see if something had gone wrong with the new Relationship Setting. Unfortunately, the game didn’t allow me to throw a Wedding.

On the Wedding Venue.

Where Weddings are supposed to happen.

I’ve also made sure to reach out to my team members and see if they can recreate the issue and nope – no Weddings on the Wedding Venue for them either.

You’re still of course able to have a public Wedding in the Park or even in a Bar. The Wedding Venue? Not going to happen.

Hey – at least you can build a Wedding Venue, right?

I really hope it’s just a bug, and not by design.

Why would it be by design??

So you have to buy an additional pack? I really, highly doubt it in this case, but EA has been known for some highly stupid monitization practices so I assume that’s where the accusations are coming from.

Well, isn’t that just the cherry on this three-tier failcake.

I’m assuming that is because those event venues will be tied into the pack when it launches so if you want to throw a wedding event you have to have the pack installed. Since that isn’t until next week I’m assuming this isn’t a bug, but something that will roll out in full with the Wedding pack… Not rocket science here, people.

Why would it be dependent with the pack release? The update is on its own and doesn’t need any “remote server enabling”. Update for the base game is independent from the pack and it was supposed to work on its own. It’s obviously a bug, that the devs, yet again, didn’t fix on time.

Why would it be dependent? For money, of course!

More like they either forgot to link the new venue type, or something else prevented the game from recognising venues built under the Wedding Venue lot type as suitable locations to have a wedding. I expect a hot fix will be coming out shortly, or they may use the SDX drop system. Either way, it needs to be fixed and no doubt will be.

Nope, all the EA game c
hangers are finding wedding venues to be broken in the Wedding Stories pack, too. It’s so unplayable that Deligracy refused to even try & just did a CAS & Build/Buy asset reveal video, even though they have been insanely excited about this pack.

They’ve taken one of the most boring parts of the game (weddings) and are trying to force us to pay more money for it? Honey… I couldn’t care a rip if my SIMS live in sin. The wedding feature has always sucked. Not interested in “stories” at all.

I haven’t even been able to change the lot type to a Wedding Venue the option won’t appear. ;-;

Did your game update? I saw the lot type while I was messing around.
