While the Sims and InZOI are now competitors after the recent launch of InZOI’s Early Access Build, that doesn’t mean they can’t be friends! While the Sims Franchise VP Lyndsay Pearson and InZOI’s Producer and Director Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim have both expressed their excitement to be competitors and the appreciation for each franchise in the past, many fans weren’t expecting congratulations to be shared with the InZOI Early Access Launch that just happened.
InZOI Announces Launch of Early Access Build on X
Just minutes after their launch at 8PM EST on March 27th, InZOI tweeted to announce the availability of their Early Access Build on Steam, celebrating this milestone for the franchise and the genre itself.

This release marks a true competitor entering the genre against The Sims, which has held its place as a truly unique game in the life simulation genre for 25 years. The two will now be competing for space in the genre, with Paralives also planning to make its way in later on this year.
The Sims was not far behind with the Welcome Wagon to congratulate InZOI on their official Early Access Build release and to share some of their famous fruitcake! The Sims Official X account replied just an hour later;
“Sul Sul! We brought fruitcake!”

The fruitcake was welcome and in the early hours of March 28th, InZOI replied back, welcoming the Sims to their celebration and showing off a feast of their own. The Official InZOI X account replied;
“The table was waiting for that final touch. 🍰 Welcome!”

InZOI’s Early Access Build AVAILABLE NOW
InZOI’s Early Access Build is NOW AVAILABLE on Steam for $39.99, with plans in the future for console releases on Xbox and Playstation.
InZOI has higher system requirements than The Sims 4 and previous Sims entries, and you can review the requirements for the game here, as well as the requirements specifically to use SmartZOI, a feature in the game that enables a unique artificial intelligence technology to give ZOI’s more autonomy across their entire city.

Calling Inzoi and The Sims 4 competitors is like calling Flight Simulator a competitor to The Sims, they are very different simulation games for very different audiences.
inzoi is for people who can afford to have the latest processors and graphics cards and whatever else. sims has always been for everyone, it’s always been playable on a shitty family pc, and the requirements for ultra graphics aren’t that high if you wanna splurge just a little bit. inzoi’s player base is going go be very different and smaller/more niche/secluded just because of this.
Inzoi has literally been all over social media and has been performing quite well on people’s PC’s without the latest processors, graphic cards, etc. That’s actually a regurgitation that I’ve seen on a lot of forums that’s super incorrect. Plus soon it will be supported by Nvidia GForce Now so you’ll be able to stream play it on systems that don’t support it directly. I’ve watched many streams (live and posted on twitch and YouTube) and a good majority of the players expressed (while playing the game and immersed not an forethought or afterthought) that they feel it’s playable and going to cater to a wider audience. I’ll say the opposite of what you just said is happening. The Sims 4 is broken… Just about every Sims 4 stream or video has the content creator of the channel making a comment about how frustrating the game is and wishing things were better. Unless EA does something to change that no one should buy expansion packs or whatever else expecting what is advertised to them. The ads don’t show actual gameplay, the descriptions tell you about the concept but the actuality of playing the game is a bunch of broken functions and weird things that should have been checked before release. It’s too expensive, buggy and the company themselves barely play tests it. We’ve spent over 1000 dollars on The Sims 4, now only the base game is free after many, many years. Inzoi is around 50 dollars and is giving you a lot more to work with. I think what we’ll see is die hard fans latching onto The Sims 4 because they’re attached to the game and the franchise. There’s also a percentage who resist AI but fail to realize they’re using products that contain AI to make comments, play games, etc so their reasoning is usually in poor-judgement and the issue is more complex. But don’t let that cloud the reality of what EA has turned the game into. I think it’s going to be a very small/more niche/secluded player base who try to keep The Sims 4 going if EA doesn’t change things. Mods are coming to Inzoi and once the modders dedicate more time to Inzoi the social community around The Sims is going to change. You’ll be exposed to more Inzoi content than The Sims 4 content which have been already up and posted for about 10 years. Regardless we’re going to be saturated with Inzoi content when searching for Sims stuff. It was like that for Second Life and IMVU before they dwindled away. Inzoi shows a lot more promise than those two for this new era of life simulation. I’m sorry to play counter to what you’re saying but that’s not the reality I see.
The latch is real. Trust, the wrath is like watching pop star stans. Reddit is full of it. YOU CANNOT LIKE BOTH OR SPEAK NICELY OF INZOI OR ELSE… all that tells me is who lives duality. No ma’am I know better than that. Can no one hold EA accountable for wanting better from The Sims 4 after 10 years? No one said The Sims 4 is dying or going anywhere. They said so themselves they’re sticking around. Can we not ask for a better job though? guess not because ya’ll nappies are full.
tbf i just don’t really have an interest in inzoi because i haven’t really seen a difference between it and the sims 4 besides art style. i haven’t done research on it tho. i like the cartoonish look of the sims better vs. hyperrealistic. i also have only seen the “official” spec requirements, so if it actually runs better on lower end pcs that’s good. also, the price is a good point, though i’ve pirated the entire sims 4 dlc so that’s not a problem for me and many others. i understand yr perspective, i think it’ll take awhile for inzoi to come into its own and distinguish itself from the sims though.
They’re both life sims. Simulation games of real life. Literally the same genre. calm down it’s not the end of the world. The Sims doesn’t own life simulators.
cute
I still remember the day my aunty and I went to Walmart and picked up the box for The Sims 1 in the electronics aisle. I’ve been with The Sims franchise for that long.
I tried out and played Inzoi. I like it and I’m going to play it more.
Those who are short of a therapy session and cannot get in on an appointment in time before disliking my comment feel free to hit that minus. I don’t get it but apparently it’s about you and you need to get it out of your system. Please baby hit that minus button and tell yourself you’re relieved of the tension that people enjoying Inzoi gives you.
Is Lindsay Pearson related to Trashley?
right, I noticed that too!
This Sims vs inZOI drama is honestly ridiculous. People need to give it a rest.
Both have completely different vibes, and bring different experiences to the table. Some will like Sims better, while others will prefer inZOI, and some will enjoy both. They can co-exist. The same goes for Paralives. Like with any other genre, the market is big enough for multiple life sims.
Which is what people are saying. But some people don’t like that. Some people feel The Sims is the only life sim and spend way too much time disliking comments, spreading misinformation, and hate towards those who want to try Inzoi. The Sims online community has always been possessive. I remember the days when The Gallery would consist of wars in the comments over builds and sims and the debate over ownership and needing credit… I don’t know sometimes I feel like people take life sims too seriously almost to the point where they themselves have no identity beyond The Sims 4.
Oh it’s coming from the inZOI camp as well. Claims like inZOI going to destroy The Sims. No it’s not.
From a business perspective, EA had no choice but to acknowledge the only other title in the genre… and they did so at the last second. It comes across as disingenuous. Hopefully ParaLives will release shortly and players can have several options – or, more likely, divvy their time between the three. Perhaps this will spur EA to release a new game (or fix the existing one) (and not just charge people for making old ones mostly playable).
Well after 14 hours of playing Inzoi I must say……HAAAAAAA! bye bye Sims!!
