Origin Access and EA Access have a new name – EA Play

6

EA has announced that they’ve made a name change for their subscription service known as EA Access (for Xbox One and PS4) and Origin Access (for PC). The new name for their subscription is now called EA Play and EA Play Pro.

Everything else remains pretty much the same in terms of the subscription pricing and offers you get with this service. Also, don’t get confused with their official gaming event which now has a slightly different name – EA Play Live.

The change that EA has been recently doing could be because of their rebranding and the upcoming changes coming to Origin, which you can check out HERE!

eaplay preannounce featured image

The EA Access and Origin Access subscription game services will be getting a fresh new name and look starting August 18. EA Access and Origin Access Basic will become EA Play*, and Origin Access Premier will change to EA Play Pro. All the great benefits you love (access to a library of top titles, early game trials, and your 10% membership discount) aren’t going anywhere. In fact, we’re adding even more in the coming months, starting with exclusive in-game challenges and monthly reward drops for members on select titles.

Why EA Play?

EA Play puts you at the center of the experience. Moving all the benefits to a single brand is an important step in streamlining our services to ensure that being an EA Play member is the best way to play.

What Do I Get with EA Play?

As we mentioned earlier, members will be able to access exclusive in-game challenges and rewards, unlock special member-only content, play early trials of brand-new titles, get instant access to a collection of our best-loved series and top titles, and save 10% on EA digital purchases, from full games to DLC. But what do we mean by exclusive challenges, rewards, and content?

That will vary from title to title, but we’re talking things like early access challenges and rewards like Ultimate Team Packs, exclusive vanity items and cosmetics, and more. Make sure your EA Account email preferences are switched on so you’ll be the first to know what’s available with your membership on your favorite upcoming titles like Madden NFL 21, FIFA 21, and Star Wars™: Squadrons. You can also visit our game websites and the EA.com News page for updates.

What About the Annual EA Play Event?

You may be familiar with the annual live event previously called EA Play, which also has a new name, EA Play Live.  It’s a showcase dedicated to sharing the latest EA news and game updates with our global community. EA Play Live includes a multitude of experiences from world premieres and game updates, to fun ways for players and community to interact with EA’s hit games.

Be sure to check out the new EA Play, starting August 18!

Update 8/18/2020
PC: 1.65.77.1020 / Mac: 1.65.77.1220
Console: Version 1.30

Spark’d Season One has come to an end, Spark’d Wedding Destination Challenge submissions have closed and you have picked your favorites, and we released the community voted pack – Nifty Knitting. Now we find ourselves here with a small update to tackle some issues including those that you reported to us after Nifty Knitting released.

SimGuruRusskii

Now onto the fixes:

Sims 4

  • We have once again vanquished yet another villainous version of Error Code 134. This time it is Error Code 134:64b8a94a, distant cousin of the original Error Code 134.
  • What is Error 134? Baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me… no more.
  • Fixed an issue related to curvature points on Roofs. They should work better now.
  • Controller layout screens have been updated to reflect the additional controls used in the Spark’d Challenges tabs in The Gallery. So many buttons, so much to see and do.
  • Fixed an issue that generated an error message when submitting an item to Spark’d Challenges from Player’s catalog.

Cats & Dogs

  • Retrained our good Doggos and Cattos so that they can eat also not on command. So they will no longer eat only when they are told. Give them all the treats anyway – they are such good bois and girls!

Eco Lifestyle

  • Fixed an issue where NPC Sims would continuously steal objects from Lots without having the Kleptomaniac Trait. They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.
  • Fixed an issue in ‘Green’ Lots that did not allow Aurora Borealis and other phenomena to display. I’m glad we fixed this, now enjoy what nature has to offer.

Dine Out

  • Fixed an issue that made some drinks and food options be duplicated, or go missing, on restaurants’ menus. I’m all for more of everything, but this seemed a bit extreme, though double coffees… mmm coffee…

Nifty Knitting

  • Fixed an issue that prevented PlayStation 4 and macOS players from applying the unlockbytag SP17 successfully. All the knits belong to you.
  • Sims will no longer constantly knit autonomously. Ok now, we know knitting is wonderful, but there IS a thing like too much knitting. *distant chants of ‘That’s right!’*

Xbox One

  • If you subscribe to EA Access you may notice the logo displayed on the pack information screens is now displayed as EA Play as part of a rebrand of EA’s subscription.

Origin is getting a New Look soon

3

EA has announced that their Origin platform will be getting a brand new look soon!

In an announcement post that they’ve made they revealed that they’re rolling out a Closed Beta program for the brand new version of the Origin client. I’ve signed up for the beta but according to the site, registration is open only for Origin Access members.

For a sneak peek of the new design as well as what the new Origin update will bring, check out the official announcement below:

Origin Players,

You’ve spent countless hours playing inside of Origin over the years; thank you. You’ve also given us a ton of feedback on what players like you want – a fast, reliable platform that enables you to jump into the games you love easily, connect with friends and find games and content that suit your playstyle.

This feedback has inspired us to enhance the Origin experience to power a faster, smarter, more connected desktop app.

We’ll be inviting some of you to join the Origin Closed Beta where we’ll be rolling out improvements. If you receive an invite, we hope you’ll download and check it out.

Of course, as with any beta, it’s a work-in-progress and your feedback is really important. We hope you’ll share what you like, what you don’t, and everything in between so we can build a PC gaming platform that you’ll love.

Origin will also remain live, so you’ll be free to toggle back and forth between the apps to continue playing the games you love in either experience.

We look forward to sharing more updates soon.

Happy gaming,

The Origin team

The Sims Team promises to improve Skin Tones in The Sims 4

49

The Sims Community has been very vocal regarding the lack of skin tones options and blotchy and bugged variants that there are in the game ever since…well…the release of The Sims 4. In the recent weeks the community have pointed out numerous issues and problems that players are experiencing with the lack of proper skin tone representation in the game.

Today, Lyndsay Pearson, General Manager for The Sims Franchise has released an official statement regarding their plans to improve Skin Tones by fixing the existing ones and adding new ones. There aren’t too many details shared except for the fact that it’s currently among their top priority and that they’ll deliver these improvements to The Sims 4 this Fall.

Check out the full statement (and video) down below:

Hi Simmers,

First of all, I hope you are healthy and I hope you are safe.

I want to address a topic that is very near and dear to The Sims. Inclusivity is at the core of The Sims franchise. From the beginning, we set out to let you build Sims that look like you, or people you know. And we understand it doesn’t feel like we’re truly living up to that promise.

We hear you and recognize that we have not done enough to address the variety of skin tones and hair styles that you expect to find in The Sims 4. While we have made additions and improvements and fixes in the past, there is much more for us to do. We are making it a priority to release more options this year, as well as to address the visual issues with current skin tones- specifically, to improve the blotchy artifacts and ashy tones. We’ve iterated on these before, but we are doing a deep dive into our full pipeline to trace our assets through every step and compare the before and afters to assess any loss in quality.

As we have demonstrated, The Sims is committed not only to inclusion, but to authentic and respectful inclusion, which means we don’t do this work alone. We take feedback from a number of places that inform the work and hold us accountable in our execution. And part of that accountability is communicating to you; we will strive to keep you as up to date and informed as possible. So, as a start, we’re promising to fix the visual artifacts with existing skin tones and increase the number of tones available in The Sims 4 this Fall.

Our community is bigger and stronger than it has ever been, and we will continue to make sure our players are heard, feel represented and are able to create without boundaries. We are blown away by the incredible craftsmanship our mod community and what they bring to the game, and the ways in which they have expanded on the Sims 4 experience. There is no question that their contributions make the world of The Sims better. However, we know that this does not absolve us from continuing to grow and improve as well.

We realize there isn’t one single fix for representation. We are dedicating people to ongoing commitments to continue improvement over the long term. Thank you for caring so much about each other and caring about your experiences in The Sims 4 and thank you for being part of our continued evolution.

SimGuru shares vague The Sims 4 Teasers

69

There’s a lot unknown revolving The Sims 4 at the moment.

First off, we had the mysterious The Sims 4 Game Pack icon that was accidentally leaked by TheSims.com. Many have speculated that it could be revolving around Star Wars or around Winter Activities.

Throughout the last couple of days SimGuruGeorge has been posting some vague teasers that seem to be giving at hint at future The Sims 4 content. It all started with George sharing nothing but a screenshot of the Future Cube, which we figured out to be containing two new hints:

  • Side by side. Sure. Spaced out. Yup.Stack ‘em up? Hmm.
  • The most popular destination to elope is not yet known.

Then, he vaguely shared a screenshot of the Chef Pig sculpture:

I went into the game to see what the object Porc du Jour is all about:

Enlist the services of a charming personal chef, Jolly, generously proportioned, this friendly companion has an appetite for finer morsels. Indulge him by writing on his ready little slab. Then wipe it clean and start afresh, for another day full of delights.

Screenshot 175

The other teaser by SimGuruGeorge that was just recently shared out was a screenshot of the Viney League Encased Scrolls:

As pointed out by the community member @EvanLe24, the screenshot above also contains 3 small words that have been hidden inside of the screen: mystery, hint and hidden.

I did a quick check in the game to see the object description which reads:

Give your degrees gravitas with this fine display. No diplomas necessary – we’ve already included some for you!

SimGuru shares vague The Sims 4 Teasers

These teasers, at least at this moment, seem to not be making a whole lot of sense. However, George did confirm that this won’t be the last teaser shared out:

The Sims Mobile: Renovate Your Space Update is coming this week!

10

The Sims Mobile announced that they’ll be releasing a brand new update called Renovate Your Space coming out this week! More specifically, the update should be rolling out around August 4th for Google Play and App Stores.

Check out what the update has to offer:

The Sims Mobile: Renovate Your Space Update is coming this week!

Sul sul,

We’re constantly inspired by our passionate players (that’s you!) and Game Changers. We receive feedback and requests almost every day about making changes, bugs fixes and implementing new features and events to make The Sims Mobile the best it can be. In our latest update, we’ve delivered something for all types of players to enjoy – stylist Simmers, builder Simmers and storytelling Simmers – we can’t wait to see how you express your creativity with the fun content coming your way.

Photo Mode

Surprise – you read it correctly! Its one of our most asked for features – a ‘Photo Mode’ screenshot feature has arrived. Now you can take photos of your latest interior styling, hosting experiences of your social parties and even set the mood with a day to nighttime cycle setting.

To experience this highly anticipated camera mode, all you have to do to access the photo tool wherever Build Buy mode is accessible, is open ‘Build Buy’ mode. A new button will be visible on the bottom left hand side of the ‘Build Buy’ screen will appear which removes the UI menu completely! Line up your shot and press your own phone screenshot function to capture your special moments of your Sims. This will save the image to your phones gallery for you to share to social media whenever you want! Show your photos to the SimGurus using the hashtag #TheSimsMobile!

Fourth Level Build Mode

Big houses, big dreams! Since the ‘Raise the Roof’ update earlier this year, you’ve enjoyed the luxury of expanding your Sim’s establishments by up to 3 floors – now we’re introducing a fourth level to renovate your multistory mansions even higher!

The fourth level build mode is available at Level 30 and costs 200,000 Simoleons. You must first have unlocked second and third story access. Visit the Build Buy menu while you’re inside the house you want to renovate and find the Fourth Level access in the Floor Levels build menu.

The multi-level feature is permanent to the base game and is available to all players that have passed the tutorials and up to Level 4. If you’re Level 4, you can early unlock the multi-level feature for SimCash (premium currency) if you want to skip to it. But for new players second level build access unlocks at Level 14 and third level build access unlocks at Level 25 without paying premium currency.

Design A Games & Hobby Room

Did you take part in our Player Survey a few weeks ago? The results are in! You told us that you want to see more games & hobby room items in our future updates, so we’ve based a Sweet Treat Showdown event around a ‘Dream Garage’ theme!

Players will be able to transform a garage space from basic to man cave with a wide range of rewards with everything you need from tools to decor. Even though there are no cars in The Sims Mobile at this stage, that doesn’t mean that’s how you have to use a garage space!

Think about it – you don’t need the same things for a man cave as they would for an auto workspace. It’s easy to get pigeonholed into traditional or common garage uses, so The Sims Mobile have made the possibilities endless!

For example, builder and stylist-Simmers will love brainstorming what they’ll be doing with this space and how the theme will play into their time in the garage –  create a library, entertainment room, playroom and more!

‘Dream Garage’ Sweet Treat Showdown

Completing the ‘Dream Garage’ Sweet Treat Showdown to have the ability to earn hobby room décor like a foosball table, bean bag, mudroom unit, ottoman bench, wall mounted tools, bucket with cleaning products, dungarees outfit, cabinets and counters, plus a grand prize of a brand-new animated bi-fold garage door!

Grand Prizes:

  • Garage door
  • Foosball table
  • Hair bun with headscarf adult female hairstyle

Royal Treat Box Rewards:

Theories about The Sims 4’s Next Game Pack

279

Yesterday thesims.com accidentally revealed the icon for The Sims 4’s upcoming Game Pack, which you can see down below:

Theories about The Sims 4’s Next Game Pack

Considering that this might be one of the most vague icons in The Sims 4 series there are already so many theories out there speculating what the next Game Pack will be. Right now we have some official information from The Sims Team that they’ve shared. Let’s begin with the future cube:

  • Side by side. Sure. Spaced out. Yup.Stack ‘em up? Hmm.
  • The most popular destination to elope is not yet known.

We also have some vague information from the 6-month Roadmap that The Sims Team revealed back in April 2020:

Another group on our team is currently focused on our next Game Pack. This pack is a major first for us, and we are super eager to share it with all of you later this year.

Twitter user @Millow__ also made a high quality recreation of the next Game Pack icon, which you can check out below:

Theories about The Sims 4’s Next Game Pack

The theories already began all over the community! Although there are so many guesses and we won’t know for sure what the pack is all about until it gets revealed, the two popular theories seem to be taking the lead: Star Wars / Space-themed Game Pack and a Winter Vacation-themed Game Pack.

The theory about a Star Wars themed Game Pack is circling around because of the “3 suns” in the Game Pack icon, which is a known thing for the world of Batuu, a fictional world inside of the Star Wars universe.

Theories about The Sims 4’s Next Game Pack

The Sims Forum member EliasVersace also made an icon comparison of what the Game Pack icon could be referring to:

Theories about The Sims 4’s Next Game Pack

The other theory is a Winter Vacation type of Game Pack. It’s known that The Sims Team has been thinking about this idea from their January 2020 Survey, where they suggested certain Snow Activities.

The Sims Forum Member onverser also made a suggestion of what the icon could be referring to, which is a snow cabin, 3 snowballs on the top and a snowy mountain next to the side:

Theories about The Sims 4’s Next Game Pack

There are also some other theories circling around the community but we won’t know for sure until the pack gets revealed.

Considering that The Sims Team’s 6-month roadmap was released back in April 2020, we could be expecting this game pack to be announced and released by the end of September 2020!

What do you think this Game Pack is all about? Do you agree with the theories? Let us know in the comments!
