The Sims 4’s next Expansion Pack to be announced in a few weeks

126

In today’s official announcement The Sims Team has stated a couple of things regarding the future of The Sims 4 and what they’re working on. Among the statement that they’re planning to update The Sims 4’s skin tones and addressing some of the community requested features, they’ve also stated that they’ll be announcing a brand new Expansion Pack for The Sims 4 “in just a matter of few weeks”.

To set the expectations for the community, they’ve stated that some of the currently requested features such as babies, farming, cars and bunk beds won’t be a part of this Expansion Pack.

In just a matter of weeks we’ll be sharing more about our next Expansion Pack, which we’ve been working on since last year. I want to set expectations now, though, that cars, babies, farms and bunk beds are not part of this EP. We understand how important these features are to you but we want to be honest that they are not part of this upcoming pack.

The last expansion pack for The Sims 4 – Eco Lifestyle was released on June 5th. With some of the “foundation” Expansion Packs already being released such as Pets, Seasons, University and others, the next Expansion Pack could be a surprise. Personally I’m hoping for a return of Hobbies and more activities for my Sims that will flesh out their personalities even more, but time will tell.

Until then stay tuned on Sims Community for all the updates on the next Expansion Pack!

The Sims Team releases a Letter talking about future plans for The Sims 4

99

The Sims Team has issued a letter talking about some of their future plans for The Sims 4, as well as how they plan to address community feedback.

In the letter, the team announced skin tone improvements by the end of this year, upcoming content expectations, new Expansion Pack announcement in a few weeks and better transparency plans. Check out the full letter below:

Hi Simmers –

We want you to know we’ve been seeing all your feedback and we hear you. As we always have been, we’re committed to growing The Sims as a game and as a community, so instead of trying to respond to a variety of tweets we wanted to consolidate some thoughts and updates in one place:

  • We are working on adding significantly more skin tones before the end of the year, and will share news on our progress soon. Beyond that, we’re committed to continuing to expand representation in The Sims 4. This is not one step, but a journey.
  • On upcoming content – when we consider something for addition to the game we consider what it will take to update it meaningfully. This is just as true for babies as it would be for cars, bunk beds or any other number of feature requests. Sometimes there is foundational technology we need to work through and sometimes we need to dig into designs more deeply to make sure we understand your expectations. This work takes time, and we don’t update you on these projects until they become more real. Game development in general can feel like a long process and, like most of the world, we are adjusting to a continued state of working from home.
  • In just a matter of weeks we’ll be sharing more about our next Expansion Pack, which we’ve been working on since last year. I want to set expectations now, though, that cars, babies, farms and bunk beds are not part of this EP. We understand how important these features are to you but we want to be honest that they are not part of this upcoming pack.
  • As a team, we are going to make more of an effort to communicate what’s coming with more regularity and transparency so that you continue to feel in the loop about new features, experiences, packs, and general information.

That’s it for now, and you’ll be hearing more from us soon. In the meantime, all we ask of you is to be kind, engage in constructive conversations with each other, and continue to celebrate what makes the Sims special to YOU. And I can assure you that we will continue to listen, continue to invest in The Sims 4 and continue to engage with you. We could not do what we do without our players.

Patch Notes

Update 9/3/2020
PC: 1.66.139.1020 / Mac: 1.66.139.1220
Console: Version 1.31

Hello Simmers!

We are super excited for the upcoming release of The Sims™ 4 Star Wars™: Journey to Batuu, so today we have an important update for you to address a couple of critical issues as well as a few updates to some existing features.

Have your Sims ever dreamed of a jungle-themed wedding escapade? Or a quiet yet elegant wedding in the woods? Sims can now elope in any of the Destination Worlds. Picture this… a warm sunny day in Selvadorada, your Sim and their loved one accompanied by the bustling sounds of Puerto Llamante… it is like the best premise for one of Russkii’s telenovelas.

Besides letting… I mean, encouraging Sims to elope to Destination Worlds, we have made windows a little more dynamic if you will. You can now place windows by stacking them above each other without the use of the bb.moveobjects cheat. Which may seem small but we hope builders enjoy this addition!

For Playstation 4 players, we checked around and we found some additional memory. This should help those Simmers who were unfortunate enough to crash during travel and transitioning in and out of Build Buy on some of their more built-up saves.

Last but not least, we have also made a change for PC and Mac in which there will be a new folder auto-generated in DocumentsElectronic ArtsThe Sims 4 called “ConfigOverride”. Inside this folder, players can place a copy of Default.ini, GraphicsCards.sgr, and/or GraphicsRules.sgr which will override these files where the game is located. So, if you edited these files before, you can now edit them in the new folder.

Happy Simming,

-SimGuruRomeo Ft. SimGuruRusskii

Now onto the fixes:

Sims 4

  • Mouse hovering over purchased traits will no longer display the text “Not available for Robots.” We understand that Robots are sentient beings, but unfortunately, these traits are not robot compliant.
  • Fixed an issue in which Lots with applied Terrain Manipulation were being placed backwards when downloaded from The Gallery. Where’s the door? Is this the front or the back? Order has been restored at last.
  • Fixed an issue in which Terrain Paint did not apply correctly under trees or foundations.
  • The UI team did some housekeeping and have fixed some background stretching happening in career panels.
  • Blinking shadows no longer appear when placing windows in basement levels that are of the same variant. I do admit that was a bit spooky, not the time windows… not the time.
  • Color swatches for Build Mode item “Large Dancing Water Emitter” have been fixed.
  • Staircases will no longer get cut through trims when there is no landing. Safety first!

Discover University

  • Some flowers and trees in Gibbs Hill will no longer appear to be floating as Sims walk by. To be honest, the idea of floating flora is quite appealing to me.

Eco Lifestyle

  • Civil Designer Sims will no longer come home after work wearing random footwear. I’m all for putting your feet up after work, but switching footwear in the middle of things and coming home from work in a completely different state as you went out, is kinda suspicious.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some color swatch glitches on Civil Designer outfits.

Realm of Magic

  • Fixed an issue with thumbnails generated in The Gallery for Toddlers that generated not only their Sim form but also included their Spellcaster form. We can only contain the cuteness so much!

Nifty Knitting

  • What’s that? Did you still hear the sounds of knitting when cancelling knitting interactions? <singsongy voice> Not a problem anymore.
  • Fixed an issue with asset cfHair_SP17LocsLong that made it display all adult color swatches.

The Sims 4’s next Update will introduce Full Free Window Placement

72

Surprise for all of the builders out there!

The Sims 4’s upcoming Base Game Update will expand upon the Free Window Placement tool that we’ve gotten a few months ago and let you do even more! When placing down the windows, not only will you be able to place the windows wherever you want while pressing down the alt key, but you’ll also be able to stack multiple windows one on top of another as much as you like!

You can check out the example from the screenshot below that I’ve taken from The Sims 4’s Early Alpha Build – thanks to the EA Game Changers program!

Origin lists The Sims 4’s 18th Stuff Pack

67

The Sims Team just keeps them coming!

This time around Origin has listed the 18th Stuff Pack for The Sims 4, which by the look of how it leaked, was a complete accident on their end. The leak didn’t reveal anything related to what the theme of this Stuff Pack could be as it was titled under the “SP18 PH Display Name” which is just a placeholder.

The leak was reported by many Simmers in the community saying they’ve found the SP18 listed under the Stuff Packs category in The Sims 4 Game Library. This listing was only public for a couple of hours until it got removed by Origin.

You can check out the screencap of this listing down below, provided by @TheKixg:

The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu Official Gameplay Trailer

The Sims Team has released the official trailer for The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu Game Pack. Check it out!

We asked Simmers what they think about The Sims 4 Star Wars Game Pack

With yesterday’s announcement of The Sims 4’s biggest collaboration yet – the Star Wars: Journey to Batuu Game Pack, the community was surprised by this collab decision…both for the good and the bad. Surely there are plenty of Star Wars fans who never played The Sims 4 before and were intrigued by pack, but there’s also a core player base of The Sims 4 who didn’t like the decision to fill in the next Game Pack slot with a Star Wars universe…whether they’re also Star Wars fans or not.

It’s not every day that you see two fictional universes come together and merge into one paid DLC content and so Simmers had a lot to say regarding this upcoming pack. We asked folks over on Twitter what they think about this pack collaboration and here are some of the replies we’ve picked out:

What are your first impressions on the upcoming Game Pack? Let us know in the comments!

8 Things You Might Have Missed in The Sims 4 Star Wars Pack Reveal!

In case you missed it, The Sims 4 has announced the next game pack making its way to the series and, suffice it to say, we didn’t see this one coming. The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu promises to be a wild space adventure completely immersed in the theme of the hugely popular Star Wars franchise.

There’s no question that Star Wars fans are going to find lots to love in the reveal trailer, but having next to no knowledge of Star Wars, myself, I wanted to take a deeper look into the trailer to see what this new game pack might be able to offer to Simmers who might not be familiar with the plot, setting, and characters from the Star Wars films.

So without any further delay, let’s dive deeper into the reveal trailer for The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu!

A New World

8 Things You Might Have Missed in The Sims 4 Star Wars Pack Reveal!

Okay, okay, so the new world of Batuu was pretty hard to miss. Most of the trailer shows scenes of Sims in the world of Batuu, after all, but after examining the landscape and scenery found within the world, it looks like we’ll be getting a new desert-themed world. Currently, The Sims 4 only has two desert worlds; Oasis Springs and StrangerVille and we don’t yet have any desert worlds as vacation destinations. Offering a third option for more arid climates will surely appeal to plenty of Simmers whether or not they’re Star Wars fanatics.

New Occult Sims???

8 Things You Might Have Missed in The Sims 4 Star Wars Pack Reveal!

Okay, so we’re not totally certain there will be new occult types coming in Journey to Batuu, but there is no mistaking the number of Sims in the trailer who look well… not human. Are they new types of “supernatural” Sims or are these simply some fun new costumes? Only time will tell, but this Star Wars newb is dearly hoping for some new occult gameplay.

New Face Details?!

8 Things You Might Have Missed in The Sims 4 Star Wars Pack Reveal!

Who loves new tattoos? WE DO! In the trailer, a Sim can be seen with some kind of marking on his cheek, just under his eye. If this is indeed a tattoo and not face paint, this would be the first add-on pack for The Sims 4 to add facial tattoos to the game.

Robot Companions

8 Things You Might Have Missed in The Sims 4 Star Wars Pack Reveal!

Many Sims in the trailer can be seen with little robots resembling the beloved Star Wars character, R2D2, trailing behind them. Simmers who own Discover University might compare them to the Utili-Bots our Sims can build, but R2D2 is no housemaid! Perhaps these new robots on Batuu will act more like companions than a free cleaning and repair service?

A Story Mode?

8 Things You Might Have Missed in The Sims 4 Star Wars Pack Reveal!

The Sims 4: StrangerVille was the first game pack for The Sims 4 to have a linear story for your Sims to play through. In the reveal trailer for Journey to Batuu, we can see R2D2 electrocuting a storm trooper to help his Sim companion access some kind of forbidden area on Batuu. It certainly seems like it would fit the theme of Star Wars to have our Sims embark on quests and adventures while in the world of Batuu.

New Drinks

8 Things You Might Have Missed in The Sims 4 Star Wars Pack Reveal!

At the bar on Batuu, we can see some new and interesting beverages being served up and enjoyed among the patrons. Some of them have interesting effects like smoke rising up from the glass.

New Collectibles

8 Things You Might Have Missed in The Sims 4 Star Wars Pack Reveal!

Throughout the trailer, we spotted several small objects that look like they could be part of a new collection. Avid collectors in the game might find Journey of Batuu worth their while to go hunting for new treasures and trinkets to display around their Sims’ homes.

Cars! Er… Flying Cars???

8 Things You Might Have Missed in The Sims 4 Star Wars Pack Reveal!

Simmers have been begging The Sims Team for cars since the game’s initial release back in 2014 and while we still don’t have cars, we might be getting vehicles of the flying variety? This spacecraft (which I’m told is called the Millennium Falcon; thank you, Star Wars fandom) was featured prominently in the reveal trailer and it looks like the Sim in the trailer has accepted some kind of mission to gain possession of this craft. Will it play a part in a larger storyline? Will our Sims actually be able to drive it? Stay tuned to find out!

Did you spot anything else in the trailer that got you excited? Tell us all about it here in the comments or come chat with us on social media!

The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu comes to PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 8th, 2020.

Via EA.com

In a galaxy far, far away, deep into the Outer Rim, the world of Batuu spins under its three suns, host to both the brave Resistance and nefarious First Order, with roguish scoundrels taking advantage of the chaos. How things unfold, though, is up to your Sims in The Sims™ 4 Star Wars™: Journey to Batuu Game Pack*, available on September 8!

Experience the Edge of the Galaxy

From the moment Sims arrive on Batuu, they’ll be surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells of Star Wars™. Majestic petrified trees rise high over the settlements and ships pass overhead, engines whining. Black Spire Outpost hums with activity as alien locals and busy droids go about their days. Vendors serve up Ronto Wraps and Fried Endorian Tip-Yip to hungry Niktos and Rodians. Curious Abednedos, Mirialans, and Twi’leks browse the wares at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. Sims might recognize a certain infamous ship, the Millennium Falcon™, or hope to escape the notice of patrolling stormtroopers. But once they arrive, they’ll never want to leave.

Earn a Reputation

The tension between the factions on Batuu is evident. Stormtroopers patrol the streets, searching for evidence of the hidden Resistance, and rebels carry out secret plans from their mysterious bunker. Even the smugglers operate a lucrative business, staying neutral to take advantage of both the Resistance and the First Order. So, which will your Sim join?

DJ R-3X, the droid in charge of the music at Oga’s Cantina, is the best point of contact for learning about the different factions. At first, missions will be simple, sending your Sim off to rifle through supply crates or chase rumors about the growing Resistance presence. As a result of completing a mission, Sims collect rewards—and earn reputation points with the associated faction. Increase your Sim’s reputation to rise through the ranks, from sympathizer or supporter to sergeant of the Resistance or First Order. If galactic credits motivate your Sim more than ideals, the scoundrels are always looking for assistance—that’s just good business.

As your Sim’s reputation grows, it also affects the way locals react to them. A Sim highly regarded by the First Order will find it difficult to chat with Resistance supporters. Climbing the chain of command by completing missions also begins to introduce new faction contacts. Depending on the choice your Sim makes, they might encounter Vi Moradi running a mission, Rey practicing with her lightsaber, Kylo Ren losing his temper, or Hondo Ohnaka cheating at a game of sabacc.

Official Blog Post: Plot A Course to Batuu!Acquire Artifacts and Treasures

It wouldn’t be Star Wars™ without lightsabers and droids. On Batuu, Sims can find parts for their own lightsabers! Take a trip to Savi’s Workshop to see a few of the hilt and kyber crystal options, or complete missions to earn rare pieces as rewards. Try different crystals until you find the one that is right, and once it’s done, start training! Practicing with a lightsaber or sparring with other Sims builds the Fitness skill, too.

Need a friend on Batuu? Why not a droid?! Just collect scrap metal from scrap piles around Batuu and earn enough galactic credits, then purchase a droid from the Droid Depot, where they offer both R- and BB-series astromech droids. Once Sims have customized their droid, give it a name and watch it go! Your Sim’s new buddy will follow them everywhere on Batuu. Plus, droids are helpful on missions. They can use their scanners and electro-prods to assist Sims by searching crates, scrambling control panels, or distracting rival faction members. These are the droids you’re looking for!

Bring It Home

When your Sim returns from Batuu, they won’t be coming back empty-handed. Enjoy Star Wars™ inspired updates in decor, home design, and even recipes. Whether Sims display the antiquities they collected on Batuu or revamp their style completely to imitate the dwellings of Black Spire Outpost, they don’t have to leave their Star Wars™ adventure behind. Invite neighbors over for a game of sabacc or a lightsaber sparring session whenever you like.

Plus, any droids ordered on Batuu return to the Sims world as well! Sure, droids might not go around zapping people in Willow Creek, but Sims can still build relationships with them and have fun driving them around with a datapad!

Official Blog Post: Plot A Course to Batuu! The Sims 4 Star Wars™: Journey to Batuu Game Pack arrives on September 8, 2020, at midnight in your region for Mac and PC and at 10 a.m. PT for Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation®4!

Create Your Star Wars Story – The Resistance, First Order, and scoundrels are fighting to control Batuu, and it’s up to players and their Sims to determine who will succeed. As Sims undertake challenges and special missions, they can gain (or lose) the trust of the affiliation of their choice, unlock rewards, equipment, new outfits and critical missions that will influence changes to the world and tip the balance of power.

Create Your Own Lightsaber – Players will also get to explore Batuu and all it has to offer along their journey, including finding artifacts like kyber crystals and hilts to create the most coveted Star Wars artifact: a lightsaber. Once Sims collect enough pieces to construct a blade, they can build their fitness skill by training and go head to head against other Sims in lightsaber challenges.

Customize Your Droid Companion – Sims will also have a chance to visit the Droid Depot and customize their very own droid to help during missions. Droids are useful companions and can use their scanners on unknown crates, scramble control panels or distract rivals.

Bring Batuu Back Home – The fun doesn’t end on Batuu! When Sims return home, they can bring back new decor, recipes and artifacts inspired by their travels, including their lightsaber and droid, play a game of sabacc, or even host a playful lightsaber training session.
