I don’t know about you but I loooove Spooky Day in The Sims, no matter what time of year it is in the real world. Why? Because I get to throw a Sims 4 Spooky Party! Halloween parties in the real world can be such a pain to put together (and clean up after). Spooky Parties in The Sims 4 are way more fun to plan, execute, and clean up after, if you ask me!
Here’s 5 tips to throw an awesome Spooky Party!
In fact, I’ve thrown many a Sims 4 Spooky Party in my day and each time, I think of something else to elevate my party to the next level. Why put so much effort into a party just for my own enjoyment, you ask? After all, Sims are usually happy if there’s food and a TV wherever they are, right? Well… because it’s fun! And video games should be fun to play! Do I need a better reason? I don’t think so.
So if you’re like me and take great satisfaction in putting together the best Sims 4 Spooky Party in your game, you’re going to love these five tips for really making your next Spooky Party stand out!

Throw the Best Sims 4 Spooky Party
1. Skip the Caterers and Mixologists
If you only own the base game and Spooky Stuff, caterers and mixologists might be a decent option to help you keep your guests fed and their thirst quenched. However, for players with any pack that includes a drink fountain and buffet table combo, such as My Wedding Stories, Luxury Party Stuff, or High School Years, these useful party items are a much better option for your Sims 4 Spooky Party.
Caterers and mixologists are unreliable. You can’t control what kind of foods your caterer will decide to prepare. This means that you could be serving your guests a white wedding cake at a Spooky Party… if the caterer even ends up making anything at all. And your mixologist could randomly decide they’re off the clock and leave in the middle of the party, leaving your guests confused and thirsty and leaving your Sims out a bunch of simoleons for a job that wasn’t done properly.
To ensure your guests don’t go hungry and are eating and drinking things that are fun to enjoy at a Spooky Party, spend a couple hours before the party cooking up some cheese eyeballs, spooky cookies, and zombie cakes and lay them out on the buffet table. Then fill the fountain with futuristic punch (I like this one because it’s a funky colour and fits the Spooky Day aesthetic) and let your guests help themselves to a huge spread of goodies!
For an added treat (and some tricks), set out a couple candy dishes and laugh as your guests get startled by an unexpected surprise when they go for dessert.
2. Plan fun autumn-themed group activities!
While it can be fun to just mingle and chat at a party, it’s always good to have options. Not every Sim enjoys standing around chit-chatting, especially after all the recent tweaks to Sims’ personalities in packs and updates. Setting out other activities at your Sims 4 Spooky Party will make sure that there’s something for every guest to enjoy.
Put out a few pumpkin carving stations and display everyone’s creations on the front porch, or you could prepare a prize to give the Sim with the coolest pumpkin. If handing a bunch of tipsy Sims carving tools sounds like an accident waiting to happen, put on a scary movie and invite all your guests to come enjoy the show.
And of course, don’t forget to put on those Spooky Tunes and get people dancing! It’s not a party without dancing!
3. Lighting is everything!
Not everyone knows this, but every light in the game can have both its brightness and colour adjusted with a slider! Any interior designer or event coordinator will tell you that getting the lighting right is fundamental in creating the right vibe for the space. A Sims 4 Spooky Party is no exception. The best part is you don’t even have to buy special lights! Just use the ones you already have!
For the perfect creepy-crawly Sims 4 Spooky Party vibe, I recommend dimming all the lights to about 25% and keeping lights over focal points like food and drink tables and centrepiece décor to about 50% to bring more attention to them. Then go around adjusting the colours of individual lights to something spooky. I like to do a mixture of purple and green lighting. It really makes any home or party venue look eerie and sinister.
Although your Sims won’t really notice the difference, your screenshots will look amazing and hey, there’s nothing wrong with going that extra mile solely for your own enjoyment!
4. Get creative with your creepy décor!
Even if you’re a console player or a Simmer who doesn’t like to use mods and custom content, there are plenty of ways to take your Sims 4 Spooky Party decorations up a notch, especially if you have the Spooky Stuff pack. Since Spooky Parties come with Spooky Stuff, I’m willing to bet you probably do have this pack.
For example, did you know the yard tombstones from Spooky Stuff can have fog effects toggled on and off? You can really use this to your advantage not just for the front yard but pretty much everywhere you want! With some handy build cheats, you can size down the tombstone to be super tiny and hide it inside other objects with the fog effect turned on. This will instantly add fog effects to almost anything you want, like your buffet table or other decorations! And the cauldron décor? It emits ghost light effects which you can add to anything you want using the exact same methods!

5. Think outside the box with costumes
We know most townies aren’t very creative with their costume choices. Chances are, you’ll end up with a dozen fairy, witch, and hot dog costumes among your guests at your Sims 4 Spooky Party. That’s why it’s even more important for your own Sims to stand out. You’re the host and you set the standard, after all.
“What do you MEAN witches are cliché?!”
So for your next Sims 4 Spooky Party, try staying away from the traditional costume pieces and broaden the CAS catalogue to come up with more unique costume concepts. For example, you could use regular clothing pieces to recreate an iconic look from your favourite real-world fictional character or music artist. Or you could always go super camp and go all in on he silly puns, like putting your Sim’s hair in pigtails, dressing in all orange and brown with a cup of coffee in hand and calling yourself a Pumpkin Spice Girl.
Okay that last concept might be kind of cringe but you get the idea! All we’re getting at is, a Sims 4 Spooky Party costume doesn’t necessarily have to come from the costume section in CAS, okay?

Looking for a Sims 4 music mod? You’re in the right place! The Sims 4 has been out for 9 years now and after 9 years, we’ve gotten exactly one (1) new instrument; the pipe organ from the Vampires game pack. Yes, there was also a keyboard added with the City Living expansion pack but it’s basically just a small piano.
This custom instrument comes with its own skill, new animations, custom audio, and more!
Simmers with musically-inclined Sims are understandably getting incredibly bored with the same three base game instruments and one DLC instrument after nearly a decade, so talented modders like JaneSimsten have come to the rescue with her Sims 4 music mod!

Sims 4 Music Mod: A Playable Custom Harp
Jane Simsten is especially skilled at creating mods to suit historical gameplay, like thisarchery mod. So it’s no surprise that they would want to bring more classical music to The Sims 4 and we are totally here for it! Their mods often bring high quality custom animations, custom skills, and custom audio to the game and this Sims 4 music mod is no exception!
Laptop-Friendly Maxis Match Design
They’ve created a fully functional harp for the game! The harp is low poly (so it won’t be too hard on lower end computers), base game compatible, and has five swatches so you can fit your new harp into any room design. We love how elegant and ornate this new object looks while not being too taxing on computers to render.
The design of this Sims 4 music mod is solid proof that sometimes, there is the most beauty and elegance found in simplicity. It really is a beautiful addition to any home, even if your Sims don’t intend to play it! But of course, where’s the fun in that?
New Animations and Audio
A lot of thought was put into this Sims 4 music mod which is evident in the custom animations and audio. Every time your Sim sits down to play their harp, you’ll see a custom animation that’s brand new. JaneSimsten did not recycle any animations from other parts of the game. So it really does look like your Sim is playing the harp. The movements are very fluid and relaxing to watch.
There’s no recycled audio, either. The music you hear coming out of this Sims 4 music mod is brand new custom harp music and as your Sim builds their skill with this classical instrument, they’ll unlock even more harp compositions to play, so you won’t get bored of hearing the same short music clip over and over again.
A Brand New Skill
A new skill, you ask? Yes, Sims can build the new Harp skill by playing the harp. The skill has 10 levels and each level unlocks new social interactions related to playing the harp, as well as new types of music that can be played on the harp. Highly skilled harp players can compose their own songs and license them just like other instruments in the game!
And if you’re wondering whether we’ve tested this Sims 4 music mod out ourselves, we sure have and we love it! In fact, I fell so in love with this harp that it’s now a permanent fixture in my game and has been featured in my Sims stories! Here’s a picture of one of my Sims playing her own harp.

When playing Sims 4, many players often wonder about the variety of food items available for their Sims. Sure, the game already offers a decent selection of dishes, but what if you crave something more? Something that gives a unique flavor to your Sims’ dining experiences?
This article will dive deep into the world of Sims 4 Kitchen & Food Mods, showcasing some of the best ones you can install to spice up your Sims culinary journey.

Discovering the Best Sims 4 Food & Kitchen Mods
In The Sims 4, every meal can be an event, a memory, or a simple comfort. However, with the vast universe and limitless potential of the game, there’s always room for more culinary delights. Food & Kitchen mods serve as the answer for those seeking to introduce a dash of novelty to their Sims’ plates. Ready to embark on a gourmet journey? Let’s explore the finest food and kitchen mods that promise to make every mealtime a grand affair.
1. MORE SERVING OPTIONS & BETTER MEALTIME MENUS BY LITTLEMSSAM
Treat your Sims to a diverse array of mealtime choices with this comprehensive mod, which introduces expanded serving options accessible through both the cooking and gourmet cooking menus of stoves and fridges. Whether you’re planning an intimate dinner for two, catering to a small or large family, or even throwing a modest party, this mod ensures you have the right serving size to match the occasion. It integrates previously unconnected recipes, such as the BLT, Faux BLT, and Quinoa Salad, into the mix.
For fans of experimental food, added serving options elevate the culinary experience, albeit with the prerequisite of another mod. Additionally, optional add-ons enhance the gameplay further: “Ingredients Required” makes cooking more realistic by showing only feasible recipes based on available ingredients, and “Cake is Baking” (requiring Get to Work) moves numerous dessert recipes to the baking menu. The “Better MealTime Menus” modification, meanwhile, revamps the stoves’ mealtime pie menu, providing Sims with a richer selection for every meal.
Elevate your Sims’ kitchen experience with this freshly updated Appliance Placement Mod. Having rebuilt almost all files from scratch, this mod now permits small appliances to be placed on virtually any surface while maintaining their functionality. From microwaves and coffee makers to unique items like the ice-cream maker from the Cool Kitchen pack or the hot pot from Snowy Escape, your Sims can now enjoy more versatile placements, even directly on the floor.
However, be wary when placing items on wall shelves as it may lead to routing errors. As an added bonus, this update ensures compatibility with other tuning-affecting mods and optimizes for smoother gameplay. Do note that while adults can interact without hitches, children may face some challenges with appliances like the ice-cream maker, demanding a specific kitchen counter with a footstool slot. Special credit goes to Madhox for the original mod inspiration.
3. GRAYCURSE’S COOKING & INGREDIENTS OVERHAUL BY GRAYCURSE
Seeking a heightened sense of realism in your Sim’s culinary journey? GrayCurse’s Cooking & Ingredients Overhaul mod is your answer. This mod challenges players by introducing a variety of new ingredients such as eggs, milk, flour, cheese, and meats, among others. Now, shopping becomes an integral aspect of the game; acquire ingredients through the “Buy Ingredients” feature in the fridge. The overhaul ensures every recipe is authentically rooted with real-world ingredients, amping up the cooking challenge.
Not just that, the mod enhances the grocery shopping experience with a meticulously curated purchase dialog containing diverse food group types. Note that this mod necessitates specific installations, and users must ensure they possess the latest version for optimal gameplay. Though compatible with Custom Food Interactions and new recipes, it might clash with mods that modify existing recipes.
Introducing the “Functional Tea Pot”, a delightful small appliance designed for true tea aficionados. With an essence inspired by Korean teas (though many may resonate with other Asian cultures), this tea pot provides users with the ability to craft 5 distinct tea varieties. Found within the buy mode under “Appliances -> Small appliances”, and boasting 8 vibrant recolors, this tea pot is priced at a modest $170. Simply interact with the pot to “Make Special Tea”, opening a menu to choose from the 5 teas.
Whether you have the ingredients on hand or prefer a direct purchase, the process is seamless. Place the teapot wherever suits – table, counter, or even the ground. Each brewed tea bestows a unique moodlet, enhancing your Sim’s experience. Dive into the world of Barley Tea, Omija Tea, Green Plum Tea, Citron Tea, and Chrysanthemum Tea.
Embark on a delightful culinary adventure for your youngest Sims with the “Baby Food Steamer” mod. A must-have for every virtual parent, this mod brings in a nifty small appliance designed to craft a variety of nutritious meals for babies. Located conveniently under the “Appliances -> Small appliances” in buy mode, and strategically priced at $300, the steamer is designed to grace your kitchen counters.
Engaging with the steamer reveals an array of 19 distinct baby food options, ensuring your toddler Sims never run out of flavorful choices. Whether you’re using fresh ingredients—thanks to a harmonious integration with harvestables from EA and icemunmun—or paying a modest $8 flat price per meal, crafting these meals is hassle-free, requiring no cooking skills.
A crucial note for simmers: while the steamer acts as a preparation hub, your Sim doesn’t interact with it directly. Instead, after selecting the desired baby food, they magically present the meal and place it on a high chair, ensuring the meal reaches its intended tiny diner. However, ensure a Toddler High Chair is placed on your lot for seamless interactions.
Step aside, traditional pizza delivery. LittleMsSam introduces the revamped “Food Delivery Service” mod, expanding culinary horizons right at your Sim’s doorstep. Inspired by, but not an update to, simmythesim’s older mod, this version permits ordering from single to party-sized meals. For users of the “More Servings Options” mod, there’s seamless integration, although delivered plates may seem empty initially; fear not, they regain their visual appeal once placed on a table or reset.
The service is tirelessly available 24/7. Pricing reflects the food’s retail value plus a $2 tip, while some grill items come at a base price of $50 plus tip. An intriguing add-on offers dynamic pricing based on household funds, ensuring that wealthier Sims splurge a bit more on their indulgences. With the delivery NPC ensuring prompt service without loitering, this mod transforms your Sim’s dining experience, merging convenience with gourmet variety.
7. DON’T WASH DISHES WHERE YOU ANGRY POOP MOD BY SCUMBUMBO
Ah, the struggle of Sims washing dishes where they shouldn’t. Enter the “Don’t Wash Dishes Where You Angry Poop” mod, masterminded by Scumbumbo and updated to perfection by LeRoiDeTout. This mod offers a precise, player-driven solution: designate specific sinks for dishwashing. Post-installation, the default setting ensures no sink allows dishwashing.
But with a simple click, users can enable or disable this feature on individual sinks. Why? Perhaps you’ve placed a kitchen sink in a bathroom or the other way around. Instead of leaving it to game defaults, you get to decide which sinks are dish-friendly. If no sinks are activated for washing, Sims default to disposing of dishes in the trash. One essential note for SCAM users: autonomy needs activation for dishwashing interactions. Removal of the mod? Sinks return to their usual functions. The mod even boasts a customizable settings menu, ensuring compatibility and flexibility for every player’s preference.
Bake till you burst! Introducing the “A-Dough-Able Cupcake Maker”, crafted by Ravasheen. This mod replicates all the functionalities of the traditional cupcake machine but within a one-tile space. Efficient and convenient, it’s a must-have for every Sim baker.
The best part is that this mod is suitable for the base game. Like Ravasheen’s other culinary mods, the interaction commences from a frosting piping bag. Compatible with both EA and custom content appliances, it enables Sims to carry out the complete baking process seamlessly. With skill requirements mirroring the original cupcake factory, prepare to indulge in 27 baking and 8 cupcake recipes. The mod mandates the “Get To Work” expansion, ensuring a delectable baking spree!
Say goodbye to recurring repair bills with Nickyclem1’s Appliance Insurance! This mod ensures that when your appliances break down, you’re not left scrambling to pay hefty repair fees every single time. Among the devices covered are Cookers, Ovens, Hobs, Coffee and Tea Machines, Microwaves, Dishwashers, Washing Machines, Dryers, and Fridges.
Securing your appliances is easy. Use your phone’s pie menu to connect with the customer service between Monday to Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm. Once you purchase a policy, automatic deductions are made from your household funds, whether daily, weekly, or seasonally. If a payment is missed, you’ll be notified and can easily revert to automatic payments post-settlement. All members of the household above the age of young adults receive the appliance cover trait upon policy purchase.
Need a repair? Priority appliances, like Cookers, Ovens, and Hobs, are attended to within 5 hours. For non-priority appliances, repairs are scheduled for the next working day. Emergency repairs? It’s accessible from 5 pm – 8 am from Monday to Saturday and 24 hours on Sundays.
10. ASK TO COOK/BAKE/GRILL/MIX DRINK! BY LITTLEMSSAM
This innovative mod enhances your in-game culinary experience by adding new interactions to stoves, grills, and bars. Now, you can request other Sims to prepare a variety of dishes and drinks on your behalf. From asking a Sim to whip up a gourmet dish, bake delightful cupcakes, to grilling the perfect steak, this mod lets you enjoy the luxury of having food prepared for you. Notably, custom cupcakes have been added with unique animations and a shift in skills required for preparation. Additionally, the mod supports experimental food, with a provision for Sims to learn these recipes through cookbooks. For an added layer of realism, NPCs, including butlers, can also be tasked with these culinary requests.
Furthermore, the mod introduces an optional “Fix” for butlers and maids to help tidy up after cooking. This feature ensures that any food cooked by NPCs, which is less than 95% fresh, is put away. This not only enhances gameplay but also ensures that your Sim’s living space remains clean and organized. Whether you’re hosting a grand party or simply want a break from cooking, this mod promises to make your Sims’ culinary adventures more interactive and enjoyable.
Discover a whole new culinary experience with Grannies Cookbook, an independent custom food mod tailored for Sims enthusiasts. The cookbook serves as a tangible book object on your Sim’s lot. As a player, you’ll interact with this book to access a diverse food menu, selecting delectable dishes or drinks for your Sim to prepare. Every recipe, from classic Chicken and Dumpling to refreshing Bubble Tea flavors, promises to tantalize the taste buds of your Sim community.
This mod version, as of 02.01.21, encapsulates an array of dishes, desserts, snacks, and drinks. Some iconic dishes include Lasagne Al Pesto, BBQ Ribs and Beans, and Mud Pie, among others. Moreover, thanks to contributions from various dedicated Simmers, Grannies Cookbook is available in multiple languages, such as Chinese, Portuguese, French, and more. To utilize the cookbook, simply place it on your lot, and the pie menu will guide you through your culinary journey.
With an aim to enhance the gameplay experience, a mod has been introduced that revives the familiar act of grocery shopping in The Sims 4. This initiative has seen the introduction of four authentic objects crafted by simlifecc, allowing Sims to indulge in purchasing fresh produce from stands, selecting the freshest fish from freezers, and handpicking flowers from blooming buckets.
Offering a dual experience, the mod comes in two variations. The first, known as the DIY flavor, integrates elements from the Get to Work expansion, allowing Sims to capitalize on their harvested items by selling them. The second, coined as the ‘traditional’ flavor, provides new grocery shopping interactions, although currently, this doesn’t translate to Sims profiting from their buys.
Ah, the hassle of in-game dining becoming a tedious task. Introducing the “Thee Kitchen Tablet” mod, a brainchild of the Sims modding community, refined on October 15, 2023. This mod revolutionizes a Sim’s culinary journey. With just a tap, Sims can order ingredients via InstaCart, indulge in delectable dishes from Grubhub or even book catering from The Catering Co.
Hungry for Stirring The Pot recipes? The tablet has you covered. But here’s the twist: ensure you don’t have the “Zeros Food Delivery Mod” because they clash! The mod’s dynamic updates, from expanding ingredient lists to integrating new grub hubs, promise fresh flavors and experiences with each iteration. Remember to check the mod’s prerequisites, such as the Crumbl Cookies Mod Pack or Dunkin & Cinnabon Stall, to maximize its features. Ready for a culinary revolution in your Sim’s life? Dive into “Thee Kitchen Tablet” mod and watch your Sim’s dining world transform!
Ah, the desire for wellness within our beloved Sims universe! Enter the “Healthy Drinks” mod, the refreshing solution for players craving a touch of health consciousness in their gameplay. With a simple interaction with the fridge, Sims can now quench their thirst with a range of invigorating juices. Fancy a Carrot Juice? That’ll cost your Sim 12 Simoleons or just four fresh carrots. How about a mysterious Plasma Juice? Perfect for the vampires amongst us, albeit with the steeper price of 25 Simoleons or five Plasma Fruits.
But these beverages aren’t just for indulgence. Drinking up comes with perks! Sims are rewarded with a one-hour happiness boost, a slight advancement in their fitness skill, and the youth even earn a pinch of responsibility. It’s like sipping tea, but with an added bonus against illnesses. And for those purists out there, there’s an optional add-on to ensure a drink only pops up if its ingredients are in the fridge or the Sim’s inventory. Just remember, the “Healthy Drinks” option remains hidden unless a Sim can indeed whip up one of these nourishing concoctions. Dive in, and let your Sims sip their way to vitality!
Ah, the familiar and beloved golden arches, now within the virtual confines of the Sims universe! Introducing the “McDo” set, a delightful nod to the world-renowned McDonald’s. Thanks to the invaluable insights on custom food creation shared by the talented MunMun, Sims aficionados can now treat their characters to the fast-food experience they’ve longed for.
But there’s more to savor beyond the menu. Instead of the mundane plates and glasses, expect your order in distinctive custom packaging that echoes the charm of the real-world fast-food chain. While there aren’t custom thumbnails for these items, the immersive experience they provide more than compensates. And here’s the icing on the burger – every item, be it packaging or appliances, is available in both Simlish and English. So, whether you’re a purist or someone who relishes a touch of realism, this set has got you covered. Rejoice, Simmers, and let your Sims indulge in a virtual McFeast!
Ah, the insatiable quest to diversify our Sims’ culinary repertoire! Here’s a revelation: the “Air Fryer” set. This isn’t just another kitchen gadget but a gateway to crispy delights, including the much-raved-about Pizza Slice, specially tailored for the pizza aficionados. As the seasons turn, this gadget has evolved. Come September 14th, 2022, the air fryer now champions Canadian Poutine and crispy Chicken Wings. And just when you thought it was enough, by January 15th, 2022, gourmet Burgers joined the lineup.
Delving into the specifics, this chic Air Fryer, priced at a modest 400 Simoleons, is tucked away in the Buy catalog under ‘Small Appliances’. With nine aesthetic presets to match any kitchen decor, it promises an engaging culinary experience. Whether you’re in the mood for a solo meal or cooking for a trio, the Air Fryer’s Recipe Picker menu has you covered. Moreover, these air-fried delicacies aren’t restricted to your Sims’ homes; they’ve made their way to restaurants too! But remember, to unlock the full potential of the Air Fryer, keep the ‘Custom Food Interactions’ mod updated.
These mods not only mirror our real-world gastronomic cravings but also allow players to immerse themselves more deeply into their Sims’ daily lives. From the whimsical idea of designating specific sinks for dishwashing to the innovative inclusion of air fryers and healthy beverages, these modifications underscore the community’s creativity and the game’s adaptability. Players can now watch their Sims indulge in a diversified palette, from sipping on invigorating juices for wellness to relishing crispy, air-fried wonders.

I’ve recently found myself rediscovering a lot of games that I used to play while I was growing up, and one of those happened to be Tomb Raider. Upon scrolling through YouTube one evening recently, I came across this build of Croft Manor by RusticSims!
Are you ready for a new Tomb Raiding adventure?
The build itself was created on the 64×64 lot, as ideally is best placed in either Windenburg or Brindleton Bay. RusticSims Croft Manor does utilize some custom content that is detailed in the Croft Manor Walkthrough Video.
I was blown away by the detail in this build, and watching the build come together through the stop-motion video really gave you the sense that you were there building it too.
After watching the stop-motion video of Croft Manor being created, I decided to jump into the game myself and explore the build for myself.
I placed the lot in Windenburg as recommended and, it truly is the perfect place to have Croft Manor.
With my Sim channelling their inner Tomb Raider, I began exploring Croft Manor through the eyes of my Sim, and it was great fun! It brought back a lot of memories from navigating through Croft Manor myself in the likes of Tomb Raider II. Spending countless hours playing through the obstacle course (and failing) as well as trapping the Butler in the fridge countless times.
Regardless of where I was within Croft Manor, I was taken aback by the details. How each and every area of the house felt like I was walking through it in the actual Tomb Raider home in one of the games, or how Croft Manor was portrayed in the movies.
Here’s a closer look at some of my favourite screenshots and areas in RusticSims Croft Manor!
This was such a beautiful build to explore with my Sim and RusticSims version of Croft Manor is perfect! I can’t wait to explore more of their builds in the future.
Be sure to check out Croft Manor and more of RusticSims incredible builds over on The Gallery by searching for the EA ID RusticSims!
For now, I will be living the Tomb Raider life with my Sims in Windenburg. Who knows what they will get up to!
With The Sims 4 Growing Together released, let’s build a tiny family home for a household looking to start a family of their own!
We recently shared the Eternal Rest Funeral Home. Created by fellow Staff Member, SnarkyWitch, the multipurpose venue allows you to honor Sims after they have passed away. Perfect for both legacy players and storytellers. While this build focuses on celebrating lost loved ones, we wanted our Sims to have a home to start their own legacies. This is where today’s Family Home comes from.
Even though we say a Family Home, there is a slight twist. This isn’t just any home. It is a tiny family home. Using The Sims 4 Tiny Living Stuff Pack, we wanted to add a slight challenge to creating this home.
Table of Contents
Finding the Perfect Location
Before we start building this tiny family home, we first need to decide on the perfect location!
After some deliberation, we settled on the Nookstone lot in Oasis Springs. Although this 20×15 lot it is currently occupied, we are going to give it the Tiny Living makeover it deserves.
Firstly, we must swap the Lot type from standard Residential to Tiny Home Residential. Upon doing so, we can see that this lot is just over the requirements for a Small Home.
Tiny Home Residential Specifications
There are three tiers of Tiny Homes that you can have using the pack.
Tier 1 Micro Home – 32 Tiles Max
Tier 2 Tiny Home – 64 Tiles Max
Tier 3 Small Home – 100 Tiles Max
For our build, we are going to set a target of creating a Small Family Home for our Sims. While it will still be small, hopefully, it will still remain spacious to some degree.
Of course, depending on what tier you go for, you will also have some Lot Perks. As our The Sims Family Home is a Tier 3 Small Home, we will gain two Lot Perks!
The Sims 4 Tiny Living – Tier 3, Small Home Lot Perks
Getting Started
So, with the basics sorted. It was time to get building our family home for our Sims. However, there was one more choice to make. Do we start with a fresh empty Lot or give Nookstone a makeover?
While it would be easy to simply make over the Nookstone, we wanted our family home to have its own charm. With a nice view of the lower Oasis Springs area and the famous dinosaur sculpture, this lot has plenty to offer, despite its small size.
There was a lot of experimenting when trying to create the family home shell. In the end, we went with drawing several ‘box style’ rooms and creating a shape that would work. There’s a lot that needs to be placed within this new Family Home for our Sims.
The initial number of tiles used was 96. This included the decked areas at the front and back of the lot. While building up another level is a possible option if needed, then it is likely the decked area would need to be removed or reduced in size to allow this.
Furnishing our Tiny Family Home
Now here comes the fun part!
This Tiny Family Home is to be furnished using objects from The Sims 4 Base Game and the Tiny Living Stuff Pack. Both offer a wide range of objects that can be used and easily swapped out for items that come in the upcoming Growing Together Expansion Pack.
The vision for furnishing the lot was to have an open-plan living space, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. Definitely tricky with the smaller space, but we’re sure it will work out!
Figuring out the layout was interesting. As you start creating rooms, you’re wondering if they are big enough for everything you want to put in there. They look too small initially, but still, you know somehow it will all come together.
After about an hour, our The Sims Family Home was starting to look like a home. Even after starting to place objects, there were a number of layout and placement changes.
Here’s a look at the overhead view of our Sims Family Home!
What do you think of the finished family home for our new Sims? Take a look at the gallery below for a closer look!
How to Download this Sims Family Home
Do you want to download this house into your own game? Here’s everything you need to know!
Lot Name: Tiny Family Home
Gallery ID: LeeksEverywhere
Lot Size: 20×15
Cost: $43,109
Lot Challenges/Perks: No Challenges but has the Lot Perks of Lighten The Load & Feelin’ Fine All The Time
Packs Used: The Sims 4 Base Game & The Sims 4 Tiny Living
Now, you can also create your own version of our shell by downloading the Small Family Home Shell by using the same Gallery ID details listed above!
However, despite the challenges that came with creating this home, it came together really well overall. There are definitely aspects of the build we would do differently. Probably even change the layout of the shell altogether but it works as a starting home for our Sims.
The addition of the two smaller nooks that are featured towards the back of the house, while currently used as a reading area and study area, could also easily be changed out depending on what suits your Sims Family’s needs!
One thing that wasn’t set in stone initially was a budget for this build. However, by using the empty shell, a starter home-friendly version could easily be created!

Do you remember Halloween in the mid-90s when you’d look out your front window on Halloween night and there’d be a thousand kids running around in Scream masks? And half of them had that mask that dripped fake blood when you squeezed a little pump connected to it? Did I just age myself back into the prehistoric era? Anyway, if you are also from the ancient times and want to relive Halloween in the 1990s, this Scream mask for kids is the perfect Sims 4 Halloween costume CC to do that.
What is it about clowns that are so creepy? Did Pennywise from the IT films convince people that clowns are scary? Was it certain serial killers in history who liked clowns way too much? I don’t really know but all I know is I never see clowns at kids’ birthday parties or carnivals anymore. Where do I see them? At Halloween. I see scary clowns at Halloween a lot and you probably do, too. This clown costume will definitely give some people the creeps.

The Sims 4 High School Years comes with a carnival area in the new world of Copperdale. While it is a fun place to check out, it’s not located on a lot so players can’t really customize their carnival experience or edit the space to add new activities.
Want a carnival lot in your game? Download this amazing lot for your Sims to visit!
The good news is that the carnival attractions are all located in the debug build menu and retain their functionality when placed on a lot from the debug catalogue. This has led to a huge boom of amazing carnival lots being uploaded to the Gallery by talented builders in the community!
Today we’re checking out this incredible amusement park built for the Oasis Springs park lot by AllGeek_Sims! This lot really stood out for us not only because it’s beautiful, but also because of how many activities our Sims can enjoy here! We love lots that have lots of different activities since the worlds in The Sims 4 are small and the number of lots limited. Building lots that serve many functions at once is the only way to experience everything in the game.
Let’s take a tour of this amusement park, shall we?
We love the entrance with a ticket stand and the nearby parking lot. It adds to the realism of the build and we feel like we’re really entering an amusement park in the real world! However, the real fun begins once you pass the entrance.
Inside, there’s an adorable ice cream and snack stand with picnic tables right near the entrance. The area is strung up with lights. We imagine this would be a lovely area at night when the lights are all lit! A little farther down the path and we come across two arcade machines, bubble blowers, and a juice keg! This section of the park is bound to get a little rowdy if your Sims are into that!
There’s swing sets, a ping pong table, and a bowling alley underneath a beautiful townhouse set with hot air balloons and a rainbow floating above! Wow! And on the other side of the park, visitors can enjoy an afternoon of roller blading beneath another very cool backdrop set!
Of course, a carnival wouldn’t be a carnival without any rides so when your Sims want to cozy up with their crush or simply take in the amazing views of the entire park all at once, they can go for a ride on the ferris wheel. We think the ferris wheel is a great way to impress a date!
This amusement park has no CC and can be downloaded from the Gallery! Just search the ID AllGeek and look for the build called OASIS PARQUE DE DIVERSÃO or click the download button below to be taken right to the build’s Gallery page!

If you want to know how to make a bar drink, go to the bar drink section to find every drink your Sims can learn to mix at a bar. This makes our Sims 4 recipe list super easy to navigate.
See a recipe in our Sims 4 recipe list you can’t find in your game? Some recipes need to be unlocked, first. Luckily, almost all unlockable recipes in the game are unlocked by simply eating that dish. Look at the pack that recipe comes with and try that dish while out exploring that pack. For example, travel to Selvadorada and eat food from the vendors there or explore San Myshuno and order lots of different things from the food stands around the city. Your Sim will need to have the skill indicated in our Sims 4 recipe list in order to learn that recipe by eating it, so remember that, too!
Sims 4 Recipe List: Legend
With the addition of Home Chef Hustle, you now have the option to replace one or more ingredients with prepped ingredients from the stand mixer. This can sometimes make reading online recipe guides confusing. To help, we’ve written out our Sims 4 recipe list in a specific way to help you know when you can replace an ingredient with prepped ingredients.
If you do not want to use prepped ingredients in-game, just uncheck the Use Prepped Ingredients box at the top of the recipe list and you will see the original recipe without the prepped ingredients listed.
Recipe Example
Meaning
Food or Prepped Ingredient
Replace just that food with the prepped ingredient
Food Food or Prepped Ingredient
Replace all foods listed above with the prepped ingredient. Do not replace any foods listed under the prepped ingredient unless stated.
Prepped Ingredient (optional)
The Prepped Ingredient can be added to the existing recipe if using Prepped Ingredients
You’ll also notice that we’ve included pack icons for every recipe in our Sims 4 recipe list. The pack icons indicate which pack that recipe is from; however, it’s important to note that ingredients for most dishes are cross-pack now. This means that a dish from one pack may use ingredients from a different pack. So if you don’t see all the ingredients listed here in your game for every dish, that is likely the reason.
Also, some dishes require you to have 2 packs in order to make that dish. Others come with multiple packs and if you own either pack, you will have access to that dish. For easier reading of our Sims 4 recipe list, here is how to read our pack icons.
Icons
Meaning
O
This recipe requires this pack; however, you may or may not need all listed ingredients depending on your full pack collection.
O+O
This recipe requires you to own both packs.
O/O
This recipe requires you to own at least one of these packs.
Cooking Recipes
Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of the cooking recipes in the game utilize either the oven or the stovetop. In fact, there are so many oven and stovetop recipes that they’ve been sub-sorted into different filters. Players can now sort their recipes by vegetarian dishes, lactose free meals, meat-based dishes, seafood, and sweets. For easier browsing, we’ve listed recipes for our Sims 4 recipe list in every category they fall under, so you may see the same recipe listed more than once in different categories if that recipe applies to both categories.
If you see an asterisk (*) in front of a dish name, it indicates an error in the game. There are a few recipes that are incorrectly categorized. We included them in our Sims 4 recipe list because that’s how they are listed in the game but the asterisk indicates that it is not supposed to be in that category.

Gourmet Cooking Recipes
One thing that makes cooking in The Sims 4 unique is that homestyle cooking and gourmet cooking are two separate skillsets. If your Sims really want to be admired as a chef, they’ll want to graduate from homestyle cooking to gourmet cooking at some point. How do you do that? By cooking a lot (with the help of our Sims 4 recipe list, of course)! Your Sims will unlock the Gourmet Cooking skill when they reach level 5 in the Cooking skill. Once they do this, new gourmet recipes will open up for them.
To make a gourmet dish, click on any fridge, stove, and/or oven and choose Make a Gourmet Meal. Like the Cooking recipes, Gourmet Cooking recipes are sorted by filters, so we’ll sort our Sims 4 recipe list by filter too for easier navigating in-game.
Vegetarian Recipes
There are plenty of vegetarian gourmet dishes to choose from in this Sims 4 recipe list, so vegetarian Sims will be happy to have more options.

Baking Recipes
Yes, we know it’s weird to have Baking as a separate skill when you can also “bake” numerous sweets, breads, and desserts with the Cooking skill. Don’t ask us, we didn’t come up with the idea. However, for players who own the Get To Workexpansion pack, Baking is a new skill that will unlock a bunch more tasty sweets and breads to make in the oven so it’s worth covering in our Sims 4 recipe list.
The baked goods menu is not sub-categorized which makes sense, since the vast majority of the selection is just sweets. However, for Sims with dietary restrictions, each recipe still has the dietary info which you can see below in our Sims 4 recipe list.

Grand Meal Recipes
But wait! There’s more to The Sims 4 recipe list! With the Seasonsexpansion pack, Sims can cook large holiday meals that can feed up to 12 Sims instead of 8. While they are intended to feed a large family during important holidays, Sims can make a grand meal on any day they wish. None of the grand meals require any cooking skill, either. This isn’t exactly realistic but it is handy!
The grand meal menu is not sub-categorized which makes sense, since there’s only five dishes to choose from. However, for Sims with dietary restrictions, each recipe still has the dietary info which is indicated in our Sims 4 recipe list.

Sims who have unlocked the Gourmet Cooking skill by reaching level 5 Cooking skill can learn to make these dishes themselves at home after eating it at a restaurant; however, they can only be made on the restaurant kitchen sets that come with the Dine Out pack. Our Sims 4 recipe list breaks them down for you.

Sweets
Strangely, there are no experimental recipes to add to our Sims 4 recipe list under the Sweets category. This is an odd choice, considering that the Vanilla Sea Shells and Chocolate Caviar, Vertical Berry Cake, and World Fruit Charcuterie could all be considered sweet recipes, given their names and ingredients.
Wedding Cake Recipes
Our Sims 4 recipe list would not be complete without wedding cakes! The ability to bake wedding cakes comes with the My Wedding Stories game pack. Sims who want to save some money on their wedding can bake their own wedding cake at home on any oven but they’ll need some Gourmet Cooking skill if they want to make anything more elaborate than a simple cupcake display.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream in our Sims 4 recipe list! For players who own theCool Kitchenstuff pack, they’ll have access to the compact, countertop ice cream maker, which will allow them to whip up some tasty ice cream and sherbet treats in either an edible cone or a bowl. Oh, and did we mention children can make ice cream with the ice cream maker?
All ice cream varieties in our Sims 4 recipe list can also have extra toppings added to them for a touch of personalization. Some ice cream flavours even have surprising effects, such as making your Sim super slim or temporarily turning them into a PlantSim or ghost!
None of the ice cream recipes require ingredients but they do require Cooking skill, so spend some time building that skill if you want to have access to the full range of ice cream. Here’s all the ice cream in our Sims 4 recipe list.

Herbal Remedies
While not technically food, herbal remedies are still consumable by Sims so we’ve included them in our Sims 4 recipe list. To start making herbal remedies, you must have the Outdoor Retreat game pack installed. Then travel to Granite Falls on a vacation and start gathering insects and herbs. Once you have some of these, click on any grill or stove and choose Brew Herbal Remedy.
Making Herbal Remedies builds the Herbalism skill so keep brewing remedies to unlock more powerful remedies that can help your Sims stay fresher longer, calm their emotions, and even conceive a baby!
For players who own a pack that comes with a firepit, such as Outdoor Retreat or Little Campers, you’ll be able to cook over an open fire in the great outdoors! Just place a firepit down, light it, and start cooking using our Sims 4 recipe list!
While some recipes don’t require any ingredients to make, others will be greyed out unless you have the ingredients in your Sim’s inventory. However, none of the campfire recipes require Cooking skill! Is that dangerous? … Meh!

Buffet Table Recipes
Buffet tables come with a few different packs. They were first introduced in the Luxury Partystuff pack, and made reappearances in the My Wedding Stories game pack and High School Years expansion pack.
While Sims are able to cook anything they want and stock the buffet tables with that, they also have the option to instantly stock the table with any of the dishes listed below in our Sims 4 recipe list. This can be super handy if your Sims don’t have the Cooking skill to make the dish themselves or don’t have ingredients on-hand for those dishes. However, it will cost them simoleons to insta-stock the buffet table.
Additionally, there are a few dishes available on the buffet table that can’t be acquired any other way, such as Roast Duck, Sweet Buns, and Tartosian Fruit Tarts.

Drink Fountain Recipes
Drink fountains come with a few different packs. They were first introduced in the Luxury Party stuff pack, and made reappearances in the My Wedding Stories game pack and High School Years expansion pack. They are intended to be paired with the buffet tables and placed on top of them, but the drink fountain can also be placed on any counter.
Stocking a drink fountain can be an easy way to keep the drinks flowing at a party without having to shell out money on a mixologist. The drink fountain also has some unique food and drink not available anywhere else, like caramel and cheese fondue. You can see all the options below in our Sims 4 recipe list.

Bar Drink Recipes
Sims who like a nice drink at the end of a long, hard day have plenty of options to choose from at the bar if they have enough Mixology skill. From simple sparkling water to fine nectars and fancy mixed drinks, your Sims have no shortage of fun ways to satisfy their thirst. If they had a thirst motive. Which they don’t. Unless they’re a vampire. But vampires would rather drink plasma. Anyway, you get what we’re saying.
Bar drinks don’t require ingredients in most cases; however, there are a few special drinks that do require ingredients. All drinks except water and Wolf-B-Gone cost simoleons to make. Our Sims 4 recipe list breaks down all the info.

Fizzy Juice Recipes
Fizzy Juices are an interesting Sims 4 recipe list addition because they are largely based on experimentation. Fizzy Juice comes with the Eco Lifestyle expansion pack and they have their own Juice Fizzing skill.
To start juice fizzing, you’ll need to buy a juice fizzing station in the Build/Buy catalogue and place it down on a lot. Then you’ll need some ingredients. We recommend starting with basic fruits like apples, grapes, and any other easily acquired fruit. This is because you can start making fizzy fruit juices right away at level 1 of the Juice Fizzing skill. As you build your skill, you’ll also be able to use flowers and herbs to make kombucha and other more unique flavours on the Sims 4 recipe list.
To make fizzy juice, place between 1 and 5 ingredients in the juice fizzer. Then start fizzing some juice! How many items you put in the fizzer determines how much juice you’ll get. Putting 1 ingredient in will give you one bottle of fizzy juice. Putting 2 in will give you a pack of 6 bottles. There doesn’t seem to be any benefit to putting in more than 2 because you’ll still get a pack of 6 with 5 ingredients in the fizzer, but you can still put in up to 5 ingredients all the same so we’ve put that on our Sims 4 recipe list.
What makes fizzy juice truly unique is the customizability of your fizzy juices. For example, if you put apples into the fizzer, you’ll get Fizzy Apple Juice. Putting grapes in the fizzer gives you Fizzy Grape Juice. These are both the same type of fizzy fruit juice but their effects can be different. Depending on what type of fruit you put in the fizzer, the resulting bottle of fizzy juice could make your Sim Happy or Inspired or Confident or Energized… you get the idea! Play around with different combinations in our Sims 4 recipe list to see which ingredients do what!
And for an added touch of personalization, you don’t have to stick with the default name of your fizzy juice. You can name your juice blends yourself and really go all in on a brand if you’re planning on making a profit. Our Sims 4 recipe list uses the default names.

Nectar Recipes
You might have noticed when looking at the bar drinks in our Sims 4 recipe list that your Sims are able to serve up glasses of some types of nectar at the bar, no ingredients required. However, if you truly want to make finely aged nectar of impeccable quality in larger batches, you’ll want to start making your own nectar.
Nectar making comes with the Horse Ranch expansion pack and it comes along with its own Nectar Making skill. To get started with nectar from our Sims 4 recipe list, buy a nectar maker and a nectar rack from the Build/Buy catalogue and place it on a lot. Then gather up some ingredients. Apples and grapes are a great place to start. Now you’re ready to start making nectar!
When you finish making a bottle of nectar on this Sims 4 recipe list, you can open the bottle and drink it right away, but if you want to increase the nectar’s value and overall quality, you should store it in a nectar rack and leave it there until it’s Finely Aged. For highly skilled nectar makers, this aging process will take about a week in-game. You can also name your blends for an added touch of personalization.

Potion Recipes
Potions?! Really?! Yes, really. When we set out to make this Sims 4 recipe list, we were determined to include every item Sims can create themselves and consume. Potions fall within these guidelines so let’s learn about potions!
Potions come with the Realm of Magicgame pack and potion making is an activity that can only be done by Spellcasters. So if you want to make potions on this Sims 4 recipe list, you’ll have to send your Sim to the Magic Realm through the portal in Glimmerbrook and ask one of the Sages to cast the Rite of Ascension on them, first. Once your Sim is officially a Spellcaster, it’s time to get them a cauldron and start brewing magical concoctions!
Potions are rather unique on this Sims 4 recipe list because you won’t always be using food as ingredients for your magical brews. Everything from crystals to frogs and even MySims trophies are fair game in potions! Which potions you can brew also depends on your Spellcaster rank; however, you’ll have to discover the potion recipe through magical tomes, experimentation, or learning from the Sages before you can brew it.

Popular series The Real Housewives follows the personal and professional lives of women living in a specific city. One thing these women are known for are their fashion tastes. Ice-Cream for Breakfast has created an elegant set of dresses and one body suit for the fashionable “Housewives” in your saves!
Give your Sims the The Real Housewives style without the price tag!
Each of the dresses and jumpsuit are named after an iconic Housewife from The Sims 4 including Judith Ward from Del Sol Valley, Nancy Landgraab, Nina, and Dina Caliente from Oasis Springs, Bella Goth from Willow Creek, and Anaya Jang from San Myshuno.
These two dresses are almost identical except for the color of the sequin trim. Their almost identical nature mirrors that of Nina and Dina Caliente for whom they are named after. Each mini-dress has a sequin collar with a scallop sequin trim. The Nina version has gold sequins and the Dina version has silver sequins.
The Nancy dress is named after Nancy Landgraab. Ice-Cream for Breakfast describes it as “a very 2000’s dress with a ruffle hem and sequins on the upper part and ruffles.”
The Judith dress, named after celebrity Judith Ward, has the style of Old Hollywood. It is an off the shoulder dress that is full length. The sleeves are lace and there is also a lace overlay.
Named after Anaya Jang from San Myshuno. The Anaya Jumpsuit is an asymmetrical jumpsuit. It comes with a metallic belt (six shade accessory overlays included) and an additional five patterned swatches.

When I started making poses for The Sims 4, I would use pose accessories made by other creators and link to them in my sets. The problem with this was that the accessory wasn’t guaranteed to always be available. Creators delete their blogs without warning all the time, rendering my poses unusable.
This frustrated me so I learned how to make my own accessories. Today, I’m going to show you how I convert in-game objects into pose accessories!
Table of Contents
What You Will Need
Blender 2.70 (you can also use 3.3 if you have updated to S4S Star)
The Sims 4 Studio
Any image editing software. I use Photoshop CS6 but Paint.NET is a great free alternative.
Knowledge of how to use Blender and S4S. This is not a beginner tutorial. You should already know your way around these programs.
Open S4S. Type in your Creator name and choose CAS > Create 3D Mesh
Press CTRL+SHIFT+C to bring up the cheat console and type in object-preview
Find an object you want to turn into a pose accessory. If you want to use a debug object, check the Show Debug box.
Export the mesh and diffuse texture and close the window.
Find a base game CAS accessory. I recommend the eyeball ring. It’s base game and compatible with long sleeves.
Export the mesh.
Make Your Accessory
Open the CAS accessory in Blender and append the object you want to convert to an accessory
Delete the original CAS accessory and rename the new object to s4studio_mesh_1
Move the object you appended to the Sim’s hand where it feels natural for them to hold it
Switch to Edit Mode and select the entire object
Under the Scene tab, in the S4Studio CAS Tools section, set the Type to GEOM and the Cut to 0000. IMPORTANT: If you are using Blender 3.3, you will not see a Type option here. That is fine. Just change the cut number to 0000.
This tutorial was made with Blender 2.70. If using Blender 3.3, the Scene tab will be along the side instead of the top.
Under the Object Data tab, in the Vertex Groups section, delete everything listed.
This tutorial was made with Blender 2.70. If using Blender 3.3, the Object Data tab will be along the side instead of the top.
Click the + to add a new group, and rename it to either b__L_Stigmata (left hand) or b__R_Stigmata (right hand)
Click Assign. The object will not move with the hand unless you assign it. If you don’t see the Assign button, make sure the object is still selected in Edit Mode.
In the UV panel, select Open. Open the file called UVGuideForSims from the resources you downloaded at the start of the tutorial
Make sure the object is still selected in Edit Mode. You should see its UV map on the UV Guide. Resize as necessary and move to fit completely inside the Hat section. R rotates, G moves, S resizes.
Select UVs > Export UV Layout and save it.
Open your image editing program. Open the UV layout and the object’s original texture. Move and resize the texture layer as necessary to fit perfectly over the UV map. Delete the UV layer and save as a .png file.
Final Touches
Open the package file containing the original CAS accessory. Import your new mesh for all LODs.
Import the diffuse texture you just edited. Under Shadow and Specular, import the blank Shadow and Specular files included in the resources linked at the beginning of the tutorial.
In the Categories tab, customize whatever you like. Age group, CAS category, gender, etc. I recommend unchecking Enable for Random.
Save the package file, move it to your Mods folder and test in CAS. If done correctly, your accessory should be attached to the Sim’s wrist and move with the Sim.
And now you have a new pose accessory to use in your pose sets!

Project Rene: What’s Deal With the Name?
Lyndsay Pearson presenting “Project Rene” at The Sims Summit
First off, if you’ve been hearing “Project Rene” flying around, that’s just the codename for The Sims 5. Game developers often use codenames in the early stages of a game’s creation. For example, The Sims 4 went by the codename “Project Olympus” before its big debut. Every game has its special beginnings and during the ‘Behind the Sims Summit’ in October, Pearson laid it out clearly: “We chose Project Rene because it’s reminiscent of words like renewal, renaissance, and rebirth, and it represents our renewed commitment to The Sims.”
The Sims 5 Features We’re All Waiting For!
With the recent unveiling of Project Rene, EA has lit up the community with early glimpses into the forthcoming gameplay and features. Lyndsay Pearson, the VP of Creative at The Sims Franchise, shared that while Project Rene remains years from its official launch, the developers are committed to offering players an insider’s view throughout its development journey. This commitment rings true with promises of transparent updates, sneak peeks, early access opportunities, and much more.
1. Unveiling A New Dimension: Apartments in Project Rene
Preview of Apartment Rooms.
One of the most thrilling revelations from the recent EA Playtest is the introduction of apartments – a feature previously unseen in base game iterations of The Sims series. Previews from the Behind The Sims Summit tantalize fans with snapshots of what apartments might look like in the final release, though it’s crucial to remember that the game’s nascent development stage means features could evolve.
These early showcases depict intricately detailed apartment interiors with elevated rooms and interconnected spaces. A noticeable hint suggesting a move away from the traditional ‘Rabbit Hole Apartments’ can be gleaned from these previews. Furthermore, UI snippets hint at a user-friendly “Apartment selection” tool, emphasizing the malleability of each apartment space.
2. Open Neighborhoods: The New Open World?
Preview of Open Neighborhoods.
Okay, so there’s been a lot of chatter in the community: Is The Sims 5 going full-on open world? It’s got a lot of us on our toes, curious about the twists and turns the gameplay might take. But hold on to your Plumbobs, because the word on the street (or should we say, the internet leaks) hints that The Sims 5 might roll out an “open neighborhood” concept. Picture this: mini open worlds, all linked together. Kind of like the best of both worlds, right? And we’re so here for it!
3. Creating Communities: Will the Sims 5 Be Multiplayer?
In a recent earnings call, someone popped the big question to EA’s big boss, Andrew Wilson: are there any plans to bring back an online version of The Sims? Andrew’s answer was exciting, to say the least. He mentioned that while Maxis remains committed to the core elements of the Sims – you know, creation, escapism, and self-improvement – they’re also keen on reintroducing elements of social interaction and friendly competition. Exactly the things that made The Sims Online so special back in the day.
Andrew highlighted that The Sims community is bigger than ever, and we’re all connecting and sharing our in-game creations like never before. Players will have the choice to play a single-player experience or collaborate with others through online multiplayer, showing off their creative skills and comparing builds. And what’s even better, players that collaborate will have access to each others content. Sounds fun, right?
4. Play The Sims 5 Your Way – On Any Platform!
Project Rene Apartments – Preview of the Exterior
That’s right; dive into your Sim’s life whether you’re lounging with your PC or on-the-go with your mobile. While we’ve been eagerly absorbing every corner of Project Rene, the biggest game-changer is the promise of a unified Sims experience across different devices.
Although Maxis has kept it to a minimum about the official launch platforms for The Sims 5, those who tuned into the ‘Behind the Sims Summit’ got a sneak peek. We witnessed the magic of the game running smoothly on a PC setup and—a mobile device! Pearson captured our collective excitement perfectly: “No matter who you may want to play with, we want you to be able to play wherever you want.”
5. More Power to You with Create-A-Sim!
Ever wished you could give your Sim that exact shade of sunset orange or that intricate braid you saw on your last vacation? Well, it seems like The Sims team has been listening closely! Azure, one of the producers, recently got into how crucial hairstyles are in reflecting our individuality, stating, “How we contribute to our look and how we present ourselves is so important! And it’s really no different for Sims.”
It’s clear that the developers want our Sims to shine and shimmer with as much authenticity as possible. While the lid’s still pretty tight on most things ‘Create a Sim’, here’s a little nugget for you: Hair is getting a major upgrade. The aim? To embrace the sheer diversity of styles that represent humanity in all its vibrant variety. And if you’ve ever felt limited by the color palette, here’s some good news – they’re delving deep into “flexible coloring” options. Imagine the possibility of coloring your Sim’s hair with shades that transition from deep blue at the roots to a sparkling teal at the tips!
6. Crafting a Personalized World in the Sims 5!
Early preview of Object Customization
From the teasers at the Behind the Sims Summit, it’s evident that Maxis is placing a premium on user creativity. The revamped Build Mode introduces granular controls, allowing players to adjust colors and patterns akin to The Sims 3’s Create-a-Style, and even morph the very shape of objects, crafting pieces of furniture like beds and sofas to their exact liking!
Project Rene / The Sims 5 Preview
Further enhancing the experience, the initial showcases have unveiled the ability to tweak intricate details such as the style of a bed’s headboard or the segments of a sofa. The cherry on top? Gamers can individually place and adjust throw cushions, a testament to the depth of customization available. With these advancements, The Sims 5 is gearing up to be an unparalleled haven for builders, ensuring their creative visions can come to life in the most intricate ways possible.
7. Shedding Light on Innovation: Advanced Lighting!
The Sims 5 / Project Rene – Lightning and Visuals
In the realm of gaming, visuals play a paramount role in immersion, and the developers of The Sims 5 have left no stone unturned in this aspect. The recent snippets shared from the game’s development reveal a focus on enhancing the player experience through the magic of advanced lighting technologies. With customizable spaces being a core component of The Sims series, the newest installment promises to illuminate these creations like never before!
Stu, the Art & Visual Director, shares his insights: “Lighting isn’t just about visibility; it’s about storytelling. It’s the subtle glint in a Sim’s eye, the dramatic shadows in a room, or the cozy ambiance of a sunset through a window. We’re diving deep into innovative lighting technologies that not only elevate the look of the game but also pave the way for players to weave emotionally resonant stories.” Ensuring an optimal gaming experience, these enhancements are tailored to dazzle on a range of devices, from PCs to mobile phones!
8. Deciphering Emotions: “Read the Room”
The Sims 5 Animations and Postures
One of the standout features that’s sure to make its mark in The Sims 5 is the depth of emotional representation and interaction. The phrase “read the room” isn’t just a catchy tagline, but the very essence of what Maxis aims to bring to the virtual life-scape. This vision, driven largely by the Animation Director, Nawwaf, seeks to provide players with an intuitive understanding of their Sims’ feelings and thoughts solely based on their behaviors. This immersion would be realized through a plethora of emotions, attitudes, and postures that seamlessly interact with in-game objects and social scenarios.
Technical Prototypes of The Sims 5
Diving deeper into this vision, the development team is exploring the concept of Sim Routines. These routines encompass a Sim’s daily life, both within their homes and out in the larger world, focusing on their interactions, movements, and overall approach to life. Such intricacies are said to be advancing swiftly, and eager fans can anticipate more detailed revelations in the near future.
In a broader sense, as highlighted by Manu, the Technical Director, the game undergoes a metamorphosis from its rudimentary state. The initial stages see the fusion of 3D models, animations, audio, and scripted behaviors, gradually birthing the sophisticated simulation that players will eventually immerse themselves in. This journey from conception to realization ensures that Sims navigate their world with depth, interacting with objects and satisfying their myriad needs. The palpable excitement from the team resonates with a single message: There’s much more to come, and it promises to be groundbreaking.
